3M offers multiple respiratory
protection choices to help reduce
the risk of exposure to potentially
harmful particulates, vapors and
gases. These options include tightfitting as well as loose fitting supplied
air respiratory protection options.
When working conditions require
the use of a tight-fitting respirator,
regulations dictate that all employers
must ensure employees have the
correct protection and fit. Supplied
air options are shown in the matrices.
The selection of N, R and P filters
depends on whether there are oil
particles in the workplace.
N filter - not oil resistant filter.
R filter - oil resistant filter for up to 8 hours.
P filter - oil proof filter for up to 40 hours.

Valve, available on some models, may relieve moisture buildup in hot and humid conditions.
Application of body fillers, which may contain styrene or other organic vapors, potentially require use of an
organic vapor cartridge such as the 3M™ Organic Vapor (OV) Cartridge 07046.

3M™ Vortex Cooling Assembly V-100
The 3M™ Vortex Cooling Assembly is designed to
provide those 3M headgear which are approved for
use with it, a continuous airflow ranging between
6 and 15 cfm (170 to 425 lpm). This air control device
also provides the ability to cool the compressed air
supply by as much as 50º F (28º C). The device cools
the air as supplied by the compressed air source
– not the ambient air. The control knob may be
adjusted manually between upper and lower limits to
suit the cooling comfort requirements of the user.
Note:
Airline connection requirements for Low Pressure S-Series
Hoods: 07034 and 07035: can only be used in single
lengths of 50, or 100 feet. No connections are allowed.
Airline connection requirements for High Pressure S-Series
Hoods: 07011 and 07012: combine up to three hoses (25,

Designed specifically to meet the needs of today’s
welders, 3M™ Speedglas™ 100 Helmets with autodarkening filter (ADF) deliver outstanding protection,
comfort and durable performance with distinctive
graphic design options. Welders can benefit from
the excellent optical quality and reliable light-to-dark
switching at a highly affordable and competitive price.
Automatic helmets (like Speedglas brand autodarkening helmets) reduce the potential for neck
strain injury from “nodding” the helmet into place.
With the ADF turned on, welders see a light state of
shade 3, also referred to as the resting state, making
it easier to see through the filter. The lens turns to the
dark state when an arc is struck and back to the light
state when welding stops.

is a private non-profit organization that oversees the
development of voluntary consensus standards for

the United States. The organization also coordinates U.S.

ANSI accredits standards that are developed by
representatives of other standards organizations,
government agencies, consumer groups, companies,
and others. These standards ensure that the
characteristics and performance of products are
consistent, that people use the same definitions and
terms, and that products are tested the same way. ANSI
also accredits organizations that carry out product or
personnel certification in accordance with requirements
defined in international standards.

Respiratory Products (See pages 2-12)
These respirators help protect against certain airborne
contaminants. Before use, the wearer must read and understand
the User Instructions provided as a part of the product packaging.
A written respiratory protection program must be implemented
meeting all the requirements of OSHA 1910.134 including training,
fit testing and medical evaluation. In Canada, CSA standards Z94.4
requirements must be met and/or requirements of the applicable
jurisdiction, as appropriate. Misuse may result in sickness or death.

Hearing Protection Products* (See pages 13-15)
Choking Hazard—Keep away from infants and small children.
These hearing protectors help reduce exposure to hazardous
noise and other loud sounds. Misuse or failure to wear hearing
protectors at all times that you are exposed to noise may result
in hearing loss or injury. For correct use, consult your supervisor
or User Instructions or call 3M PSD Technical Service in the
USA at 800-243-4630. In Canada, call Technical Service at
800-267-4414. If there is any drainage from your ear or you
have an ear infection, consult with your physician before wearing
earplugs. Failure to do so may result in hearing loss or injury.
NRR footnote:
CAUTION: 3M strongly recommends fit testing of hearing
protectors. Research suggests that many users will receive less
noise reduction than indicated by the NRR due to variation in
hearing protector fit, fitting skill and motivation of the user. If the
NRR is used, 3M recommends that it be reduced by 50% or in
accordance with applicable regulations.
Eye and Face Products (See pages 16-19)
These eye and face protection products help provide limited
eye and face protection. Misuse or failure to follow warnings
and User Instructions may result in serious potential injury,
including blindness or death. For correct use, consult your
supervisor or User Instructions or call 3M PSD Technical Service

Protective Coveralls (See pages 25-26)
These protective coveralls help protect against certain liquid
splashes and hazardous dusts. Before use wearer must read and
understand the User Instructions provided as part of the product
packaging. Failure to follow all instructions on the use of these
protective clothing products and/or failure to wear the complete
product during all periods of exposure may adversely affect
the wearer’s health, or lead to severe or life threatening illness
or permanent disability. Final determination as to the suitability
of these products for a particular situation is the employer’s

Welding Helmets (See pages 20-24)
This product is designed to help protect the wearer‘s eyes and face
from harmful radiation including visible light, ultra-violet radiation
(UV), infra-red radiation (IR), sparks and spatter resulting from
welding processes. These products must be used only by qualified
persons who are properly trained in their use and maintenance.
Misuse may result in permanent eye injury and vision loss.
Always wear ANSI Z87.1 compliant safety spectacles in addition
to any welding helmet. For correct use, consult your supervisor
