The Bandit trailed flail mower is aimed at
professional users where efficiency and finish
are a must.
The CTVM has a variable cutting height from 8mm to 130mm, a
mountable kerb height of 355mm, sealed bearings and pressed
scoop flails.
The Bomford Bandit mower range is built to withstand the toughest
working conditions, remaining manoeuvrable when mowing tight
up to walls and obstructions. The flexible design of the Bandit
allows it to be front or rear mounted simply by turning the “A”
frame around.

efficient, in-line topper or fully offset - perfect for
paddocks and headlands.
The Tri-Blade topper is of robust design and has
three sets of newly designed, heavy duty timed
blades for stripe free cutting.
The range extends from 1.8m and semi-offset (2.4m/2.7m) to 2.4m
fully offset. The Twin-Blade also features cast-iron gearboxes and
protected drivelines. Simple, adjustable skids on this machine are

offers real versatility with 2 ranges, standard duty (SD) and heavy

Flail head fitting is dependent on the model purchased, with
a choice available on most.
The range starts with 950mm cutting width and rises to a full 2m. Most heads offer a
choice of 7 flails and the ability to adjust the rotor speed to suit verge or hedge.

ISMP
Hydraulic Rollers enable the operator to
raise the roller to a higher position, remotely
from inside the cab when cutting hedge.
The ISMP head enables the whole shaft
assembly to be changed saving considerable
down time when different flails are required
for different jobs. Pro-Trim, Pro-Cut and
ISMP heads are equipped with ‘Anti Wrap’
bearings to reduce the risk of debris fouling
the all important rotor bearings.

Belt vs Direct Drive
The belt housing on belt driven heads is
typically 75mm narrower than the end drive
motors enabling the head to get closer in to
the hedge or fence. Belt drives offer shock
protection when the rotor hits an obstacle
where direct shaft driven end drive can
sheer, resulting in expensive repairs and
prolonged down time.

Choosing the right Flail
Selecting the right flail can seem like a difficult
choice given the many options available.
All of our flails will fit onto the same rotor apart from
the Bushmaster which requires a heavier duty rotor
because of the weight.
Points to consider include:
• Frequency of cut
• Material to cut – grass, hedges or a
combination of both

A longer body producing a faster tip speed. A more
pronounced leading edge on the shaft removes
unwanted build up of material and allows the flail
to retain better cutting characteristics delivering
‘cutting hedge perfection’.
The Bushmaster flail is very heavy
duty and able to cut growth of up to
100mm (4”). Perfect for three year
hedge growth or brush cutting.

Three Point Linkage
Axle Bracket
Simple to use, and cost effective solution
to a stabiliser kit. Fitted using some “key
hole” plates on the top link and lower
link pins, the desired working height is
selected on the tractor hydraulics, the
chains are then slotted through the key
hole plates, lower the weight from the
tractor hydraulics, and the chains become
tight, and control the lateral stability.
This type of mounting frame is fitted
to the machine before fitting to the
tractor. The tractor’s 3 point linkage is
then attached to the machine and the
mounting frame.
Axle brackets are incorporated, where
necessary, with stabiliser and cab
suspension mounting positions. The
mounting forks of the machine then
attach to the axle brackets and are locked
on using removable chocks
that clamp around the axle bracket
mounting pin.
A Frame
System 1
Three point linkage kits that allow quick and easy attachment to the
tractor using the standard three point mounting and machine support
frame. There are 4 types of three point mounting kits:

Axle brackets allow rigid mounting of the machine to the tractor with no
sway or movement between tractor and machine. The axle brackets are
attached to the underside of the tractor’s rear axle.
• Axle Bracket
This type of mounting frame is fixed and
fitted to the tractor’s top link clevis, the
top link is then fitted between the frame
and the machine, the lift arms fitted to
the lower pins of the machine and the
machine lifted to working height.
With the machine at the correct height
the frame can be bolted to the machine
using one of the series of attachment
holes. The machine is levelled using the
top link and the lift arms lowered so that
the machine is carried on the frame and
not supported by the tractor’s hydraulic
lift arms. The check chains are tightened
to prevent sideways movement.

SYSTEM 1: THREE POINT LINKAGE
• Subframe
The machine is then lifted to its working
height and the telescopic support rods
locked via pins to hold the machine at the
correct height.
The machine is levelled using the top
link and the lift arms lowered so that the
machine is carried on the frame and not
supported by the tractor’s hydraulic lift
arms. The check chains are tightened to
prevent sideways movement.
The machine is held in position at its
working height by means of a mounting
yoke that is fitted to the tractor’s drop
arms and the centre lower part of the
machine’s mainframe. The tractor’s drop
arms are lowered to their lowest position
and the machine is levelled by the screw
adjustment of the tractor’s drop arms.
Heavy Duty Linkage
Subframe
Heavy duty three point linkages provide
maximum stability for larger arm mowers
such as the Hawk 6.5T and the Falcon
range when three point mounted.
On Kestrel S, Hawk and Falcon machines,
the sub-frame and axle brackets may be
specified as an alternative to the three
point mounting system. On all Buzzard
and Eagle machines axle mount is
standard.
This linkage is suitable for Cat II and Cat
III, three point linkages and for machines
up to 6.5m reach. This heavy-duty linkage
can also be used in conjunction with a
tractor’s Euro type hitch.
