Read all instructions. 2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. 3. To protect against electrical hazards, do not immerse cord, plugs, or base in water or other liquid. 4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. 5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance. 6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the nearest FARBERWARE® authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment. 7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended or sold by FARBERWARE® may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons. 8. Do not use outdoors. 9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces. 10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven. 11. Always fill the Percolator first, then set the appliance onto the Power Base, and then plug cord into wall outlet. To disconnect, remove Percolator Body from Power Base, then remove plug from wall outlet. 12. Do not operate without adding water first. 13. Be sure to unplug the appliance once the Percolator has been emptied and has been removed from the Power Base. 14. Do not use appliance for other than intended household use. 15. In replacing the Cover, make sure that it is seated all around the rim of the Body. To remove, grasp Knob and lift off. 16. Scalding may occur if the Lid is removed during the Brewing cycle. 17. FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 1 POLARIZED PLUG This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other): To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way. SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a longer extension cord is used, (1) the marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and (2) the longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally. CLOCK PROGRAM SET ON/OFF 13. 3 15. 16. 17. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE 1. Wash the Percolator thoroughly before using for the first time. (See “Cleaning Instructions” section in this manual.) 2. Remove Cover, Basket, Basket Lid and Pump Tube. Use cold, fresh tap water to fill Percolator. Fill according to markings on inside of Percolator for number of cups desired. Use cold tap water — the automatic brewing cycle is timed to begin with a cold water start. NOTE: The bottom of the Pump Tube Spring marks the maximum capacity of the Percolator. 3. Wet Coffee Basket to help keep small particles of coffee from sifting through. Place Basket on Pump Tube. Add desired amount of regular or percolator grind coffee to Basket. The following chart suggests amount of coffee for different brew strengths; amounts can be varied to suit personal taste and particular coffees. Place Pump Tube with Basket into Percolator so bottom of Tube is set into Center Well. Place Coffee Basket Lid on top of Basket and snap Cover onto Percolator. Attach Cord to Percolator and plug into standard household 120 volt AC wall outlet. 5. Place Percolator on top of Power Base. 4 HOW TO SET TIME 1. Plug the unit into a standard 120V AC wall outlet. 2. Wait until the hour on the LCD starts blinking. 3. Press the CLOCK Button to set the correct hour setting. 4. Press the SET Button to switch to the minute setting. 5. Press the CLOCK Button to set the correct minute setting. 6. Press the SET Button to leave the clock in the setting mode. Please Note: There is no icon for AM, only the PM icon will be present. (See Figure A.) Figure A HOW TO PROGRAM FOR BREWING COFFEE 1. Press and Hold the SET Button until the HOUR on the LCD Display begins to blink. 2. Press the PROGRAM Button until the BELL icon is shown. (See Figure B.) Figure B 3. Press the CLOCK Button until you reach the desired brewing hour. 4. Press the SET Button to switch to the minute setting. 5. Press the CLOCK Button until you reach the desired brewing minute. 6. Press the SET Button to enter/finalize the desired brewing time. 7. Press the PROGRAM Button to activate the PROGRAM setting. The BELL icon will blink, indicating the PROGRAM time has been set. The Percolator will begin brewing at the time you set. The Percolator will beep to indicate that the brewing has begun. The LCD Display will show the following to indicate it has begun brewing. (Figure C.) Figure C Brewing will take approximately 1 minute per cup. After that, the coffee will be kept hot for 2 hours. After 2 hours, the Percolator will beep 3 times and automatically shut off. You can check the PROGRAM time at any time by pressing the SET Button once. If there is no programmed brew time set, the LCD will show 4 lines . (See Figure D.) 5 BREWING COFFEE (Continued) If you do not wish to set the PROGRAM time, and you wish to begin brewing your coffee immediately, simply press the ON/OFF Button. Your coffee will begin brewing instantly. The LCD Display will Figure D show the following to indicate it has begun brewing. (Figure D.) When the coffee brewing is complete, percolating will stop. (Check the See-Thru Knob to see if coffee has stopped perking.) For best flavor, remove the Coffee Basket, Coffee Lid, and the Pump Tube when brewing is completed. CAUTION! REMOVE PARTS CAREFULLY — PERCOLATOR BODY AND PARTS WILL BE HOT! When you are ready to serve the coffee, simply lift the Percolator off the Power Base and take it directly to the table for convenient, cordless serving. Place the Percolator back on the Power Base to keep it warm. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Always remove the Percolator Body from the Power Base for cleaning. Let Percolator cool. Wash Percolator Body with water and detergent. NEVER IMMERSE BASE OF PERCOLATOR OR POWER BASE IN WATER. The Cover, Basket, Basket Lid and Pump Tube may be placed in the dishwasher. NEVER WASH PERCOLATOR BODY OR Washer POWER BASE IN DISHWASHER. Do not use any abrasive on polished stainless steel Percolator or Power Base as you will scratch the surface. Rinse all parts thoroughly and dry. Place Percolator back on Power Base. Make sure the Washer at bottom of Pump Tube remains loose. If coffee grounds lodge in this area, remove under running water or with a wooden pick. Washer must remain loose — remove coffee grounds if caught. After Repeated Use: Remove accumulation of oil and coffee stains that may cause a bitter taste with a coffeemaker cleaner. Follow package directions, filling with water to 1-1/2 inches from top. Be sure to rinse well. 6 ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY This FARBERWARE® product warranty extends to the original consumer purchaser of the product. Warranty Duration: This product is warranted to the original consumer purchaser for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date. Warranty Coverage: This product is warranted against defective materials or workmanship. This warranty is void if the product has been damaged by accident, in shipment, unreasonable use, misuse, neglect, improper service, commercial use, repairs by unauthorized personnel or other causes not arising out of defects in materials or workmanship. This warranty is effective only if the product is purchased and operated in the USA, and does not extend to any units which have been used in violation of written instructions furnished, or to units which have been altered or modified or to damage to products or parts thereof which have had the serial number removed, altered, defaced or rendered illegible.
