5 Troubleshooting Guide
• When receiving a espresso machine for service from the user, ask the user to describe the symptom of the malfunction.
• Unplug the power cord from the wall socket when carrying out component-level checks.
5.1.
Problem diagnosis
• The problem diagnosis table primarily lists suspect component assemblies (parts) and areas.
• Check the listed areas in the order of probability.
5.2.
SELF-DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
• The LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) will automatically indicate the following symbols when abnormal modes occur.
• Flashing frequency of error number: on/1 second, off/0.5 second.
5.2.1.
Indication (U)
Indication symbol
Diagnosis/condition
Brew unit is blocked.
There is a hall sensor to count the circles the
brew unit movement.
If the hall sensor didn’t get a correct count or
the brew unit can’t be driven any more (blocked
heavily and can't turned in both direction), then
this error will occur.
So the brew unit can’t find the right position
Over filled coffee powder.
The brew unit move from the absolute front to
absolute back (slightly block in both end) is
around 228 counters If this value is less than a
pre-defined value (setting by the experience
value), then the machine think of there is some
coffee powder was stay in brew unit and should
be cleaned.
Another case is, if during pressing of the coffee
cake the value is too less (too much coffee
powder inside of the brew unit).
Quantity of the coffee is not right.
Normally, the coffee flow rate should be in the
range from 230 to 300 ml/min during coffee
making. If the coffee flow rate is less than a
pre-defined value (1 or 2 count flow meter signal per second) with full pump power and water
sensor detects enough water for 3 seconds,
U12 will appear.
The adapter without filter cartridge is still in the
water tank.
The water tank has overflowed or is too wet.
Coffee beans are ground too fine and the brew
unit is clogged.
26
Remedy
Pull out the brew unit and loosen it on the rear side using the
setting function of the measuring spoon. Push the toothed
opening on the measuring spoon onto the pin and loosen it by
turning completely at least 3 times.
Then thoroughly rinse out the brewing unit.
Clean the brew unit.
Remove the adapter from the water tank.
Dry the water tank and the water tank compartment thoroughly.
Clean the brew unit.

5.2.2.
Diagnosis/condition
Coffee temperature is faulty.
When U13 Error displayed on the LCD screen,
it means that the coffee heater temperature
higher than 125degrees and lasts for 1 second.
It caused by over heater during coffee making
or the coffee heater out of control. In the first
case, it was recoverable after coffee heater
was cold enough (next switch on the coffee
temperature sensor get a value lower than 125)
it will rework again.
And another case is the machine powered the
heater for 10 seconds, but the temperature
didn't increase, may be the TRIAC was damaged or the line was broken, then the heater
didn't get any power and the after service must
be called.
If temperature of NTC1 is 2degrees <T
<5degrees, then full power to heat in 15 seconds in heating up mode, if the raised temperature is more than 5degrees, then continue to
heat. But if the raised temperature is less than
5degrees, machine will stop heat and display
U13
Steam temperature is wrong
When the steam heater higher than 165
degrees continuous for 1 second, then a U14
Error will be shown on the LCD screen and all
processing were stopped.
It's the same reason with U13 error. If temperature of NTC2 is 2degrees <T <5degrees, then
full power to heat in 15 seconds in heating up
mode, if the raised temperature is more than
5degrees, then continue to heat.
But if the raised temperature is less than
5degrees, machine will stop heat and display
U14.
Remedy
Turn off the coffee machine.
Switch on the machine again after 30 minutes.
If the message is displayed again, please change a target part
with reference to a problem diagnosis table.

Indication (H)
Indication symbol
Diagnosis/condition
Error in motor valve 1
The machine has two motor valves.
One for the coffee water fluid switches and
another for the milk fluid switches.
Normally, the motor always run the nearest
direction, it means the motor always running
less than half circle.
In abnormal case, the motor valve will continue
run to find the right position it should be.
If the same direction run exceed six seconds,
then stop for 1 second and switch to run
another direction.
Also the maxim run time is six seconds, after
six seconds it still not find the right position,
then a error will be shown. For coffee motor
valve it display H03 and for steam valve it show
H04.
Error in motor valve 2
See the chapter in item H03 Error.
Main switch blocked
When the power on/off button (main switch)
was blocked and last for five seconds (keep
contact all the time), then the power software
can't work normally because of missing zero
crossing signal.
In this case, release the power on/off button it
will recover.
27
Remedy
Turn off the coffee machine.
Switch on the machine again after 30 minutes.

Diagnosis/condition
Error in input voltage
The power micro controller also check the
mains supply, but it was not so accurate. Normally it got a result +12V/-10V around. This
function is only to make sure the machine
works with the correct main voltage and not
damage the electronic parts.
For 230V version, it range is 180V to 280V, for
110V and 120V version it range is 75V to 145V.
Communication failure
All the processing was controlled by the panel
software.
Then panel control the heaters, pump, motors
and so on.
The panel send a communicate pack every one
hundred msec, and the panel will get a
response containing information.
If the panel didn't any response after five seconds, then H07 error will be shown.
If the power control detect this error all components will be switch OFF to prevent hardware
damaging and switch OFF the machine after 15
seconds.
Grinder lock
If grinder rotation is <4 turns per second, then
display H08
