* Tempering valves are not anti-scald valves since they do not have positive shut-off in
case of failure of hot or cold water supply. Those valves are not recommended for
shower service, but are acceptable in all other applications.
** Large flow proportional mixing or diverting valve that does not qualify as a true antiscald device, and therefore is not recommended for shower service, but is acceptable
in all other applications.
Any valve or system not listed will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon request. Selfcontained or single actuation (pneumatic, electric, electronic, etc.) valves must provide failsafe operation (automatic shut-off above 1200 F) by blending hot and cold water, not by
controlling the heat source.

an approved automatic hot water temperature control valve because the fixed
temperature setting for the outlet water temperature is factory preset at 120°F or
below and the units have a built-in “fail-safe” should there be a loss of water pressure.
