Year 4 - FTTF Update
Construction for the Year 4 fiber project is well underway! As of
presstime, plowing in the Pollock exchange has been completed. Splicing and fiber testing should be completed soon and we expect that
Pollock customers will be “cut-over” to the new fiber during the first
week of August. We expect that our contractor, Clear Light Technologies of Clearwater, MN will begin wiring homes in the Pollock area soon
and that the Pollock exchange will be deemed complete sometime during September. Construction has begun in rural Glenham and the town
of Glenham. This will be followed by construction in rural Long Lake
and the town of Long Lake, and the town of Mound City.
If you currently own property in any of these areas and do not have
service with us now, but are interested in receiving any of our services
as part of the fiber project, YOU MUST NOTIFY US PRIOR TO THE
START OF CONSTRUCTION, or you will not be included in the project.
(This may include any vacant farms or hunting lodges that currently do
not have service.)
As of presstime, you should have received correspondence from our
engineers, Finley Engineering of Bismarck, ND advising of the construction plans on your property. In addition, you should have also received
a Service Agreement from our business office so that we may gather
information about the services you plan to subscribe to and plan for
the installation of those services. We ask that you please return
the Service Agreement as soon as possible.
Please note: Valley’s contractors (Finley Engineering, MasTec, & Clear
Light Technologies) may visit your premises or require access to your
home. They are authorized by Valley to obtain information and enter
your premises on our behalf. If you have any questions regarding this
matter, please contact our business office at 437-2615. Thank you for
your cooperation.
Crop Damage
Any landowner with crop damage in the rural Pollock,
Glenham, Long Lake or Mound City areas from the 2012
construction project should contact Valley’s business office at 437-2615 for a crop damage claim form.
The crop damage claim form may also be downloaded
from our website at: www.valleytel.net
Fiber Customers: If The Power Goes Out
If you are a Valley customer connected to the new fiber optics
cable, what happens to your services when the power goes out?
Good Question! Valley’s fiber services are powered in your house
from your electrical panel. When your power goes out, our services automatically switch to a back-up battery located inside the
power supply. This battery, when new, is capable of up to approximately 8 hours of phone service only, as the internet and/or
video services are dropped off to preserve the life of the battery.
This power supply is usually located in your utility room next to
the power panel. During an outage, it is best to use your phone
service only if necessary to preserve additional battery life.

2012 “Think Pink” Campaign
As part of our commitment to our local communities, Valley’s
staff is honored to offer our “2012 Think Pink Campaign“ to
local businesses and cooperative members.
“The original campaign launched in 2009
by far exceeded our expectations! We
look forward to raising additional money
to donate to such a worthwhile cause”,
said Kelly Brandner, Valley’s Customer
Service/Marketing Manager.
“We hope to blanket our service area in
pink ribbons each and every Friday in October to create awareness”, added
2012 Think Pink Design
Brandner. Valley is also challenging
other local businesses within their service areas to encourage
participation among their employees and allow casual dress for
the “Pink Fridays” in October.
Valley is offering “Think Pink” shirts for purchase. Shirts are
available in a navy blue short sleeve style (50/50 Gildan Ultra
Blend) in sizes Adult Small through Adult 5XL. Valley members
will also receive an order form in their August 2012 billing statements. Additional order forms may be requested by contacting
Valley’s business office or by visiting Valley’s website at
www.valleytel.net. Shirt orders are due on August 10, 2012
and payment must accompany each order. (Please make checks
payable to “Pink Campaign”.) Shirts will be available for pick-up
in early September. Pick-up points in each community will be
announced at a later date.
The money collected above and beyond the cost of the shirts
will be donated locally to Breast Cancer programs. Valley’s office staff is donating their time to organize and promote this
community awareness program.
Any questions may be directed to Kelly Brandner at Valley’s
Business Office by calling 437-2615 or via email at kelly@valleytel.net.
