Wireless extender – for improved
coverage
The MSA933 solves the problem with poor Wi-Fi
coverage in harsh environments or in large homes,
when even the best Wi-Fi solution in the gateway is
not enough. The MSA933 works on both the 2.4 and
5 GHz frequency band in different scenarios.
The solution above illustrates a gateway being equipped with both a
2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz radio. The MSA933 is connected to the
gateway using the 5 GHz interface and act as an AP using the built
in 2.4 GHz radio. In this case the Wi-Fi coverage is extended on the
2,4 GHz frequency band.

band.
In some cases even the best Wi-Fi solution built into the gateway
does not cover all parts of the home in the best possible way. This
can be a problem in large homes, especially if the gateway is
installed in a non-optimal place or in apartments with thick concrete
walls.
The MSA933 matches the portfolio of Tilgin gateways perfectly, with
its ability to simultaneously extend the Wi-Fi signals on both the 2.4
GHz and the 5 GHz frequency band, as required. By connecting
MSA933 in any regular power outlet in a suitable place in the home,
excellent Wi-Fi coverage everywhere can be guaranteed. No hassle
with power or Ethernet cables is needed.
The device can operate not only as a Wi-Fi extender, but also as a
single band regular access point where then other frequency band is
used as the cordless uplink to the gateway. If the gateway in the
home has a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi interface only, with the MSA933
connected, also a 5 GHz Wi-Fi access point becomes available in the
home. This is very valuable considering that all new devices on the
market today support both frequency bands, combined with the fact
that the 5 GHz frequency spectra is less crowded and has more radio
channels to choose from.
The device also has a wired LAN port for connection of devices that
does not have a wireless interface, such as for instance STBs.
The MSA933 is fully operator manageable from a TR-069 compliant
ACS. The MSA933 support software updates, device status and
configuration, following the TR-069 standard.

radios on the gateway. The MSA933 extends the coverage on the
2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency band.
TR-069 Annex F and G are fully supported both in the MSA933 and
Tilgin gateways. This means that any number of MSA933 connected
behind a Tilgin gateway are manageable and reachable from the
ACS.
The whole solution is of course fully integrated from day one with
Tilgin’s ACS, tGem, and the Tilgin home gateways.

offering in the home.
The built-in services in the Tilgin
gateways, such as the well proven
fully routed solution with the built
in any-port-any-service feature,
for services like VoIP and
Internet works equally well when
hosts are connected to the Tilgin
gateway via the MSA933 repeater in any
configuration. These services are not affected by
whether hosts are connected via the MSA933, a wired LAN port, or a
wireless access point built in to the gateway when the MSA933 is
configured as a wireless repeater.
The MSA933 has a WPS button for an easy and convenient
connection procedure. It is also equipped with LEDs to indicate the
signal strength, allowing the subscriber to connect the unit in a
suitable place where there is fair Wi-Fi connection to the gateway.
The MSA983 also has an on/off button and a slide switch to easily
switch between the different connection scenarios.
The MSA933 supported the latest radio technology, such as
802.11ac on the 5 GHz frequency band, guaranteeing excellent
throughput and 802.11n on the 2.4 Ghz frequency band.
MSA933 has a built in GUI for configuration, but the basic
configuration can also be done via the WPS button and the slide
switch on the unit to minimize the time and effort spent on
configuration.
