Bandido2
Congratulations! You have just purchased the Bandido2, a full-featured vehicle
security system with anti-carjacking manufactured by Avital Technologies, Inc.
To fully benefit from the capabilities of your system, we encourage you to
read the Owner’s Manual thoroughly before using the system. If you have any
problems or questions regarding your system, consult the dealer from whom
you purchased this product. To locate an authorized Avital dealer, contact
Avital Technologies directly at 1-800-253-0334 (toll-free within the U.S. only)
or 1-847-215-2233. In Mexico, dial 525-605-8541.
Lifetime Warranty
Avital guarantees the operation of your Bandido2 control unit and remote
controls for as long as you own your car. (Please refer to your Lifetime Limited
Warranty Card for complete information.) Make sure that you receive your
warranty card from your dealer, complete the required information and mail
the registration portion to Avital Technologies. You should retain the top
portion of the warranty card for your records.
Anti-Carjacking
The Anti-Carjacking feature of the alarm system is designed for personal
protection as well as the recovery of your carjacked vehicle. In the event of a
carjacking attempt, do not resist. If your vehicle is carjacked, the Bandido2 will
automatically activate the siren, flash the lights and immobilize the vehicle's
ignition and starter.
Carefully read the following pages for specific operating instructions.
Remote Controls
Included with your system are two AviGlo™3-button/6-channel remote
controls. Once exposed to light, the AviGlo remote control buttons will glow,
making the buttons visible in the dark.
The remote control (remote) is a miniature transmitter powered by a small +12
volt battery. Obstructions, electrical or radio interference, weather conditions,
window tint or a weak battery can reduce this range. Your remote is the key to
your system and can be used to arm and disarm your alarm, lock and unlock
your doors, and control optional accessories such as a remote engine starter,
window roll-up and garage door opener.

The Bandido 2 system can accept up to four Avital remote controls. Additional
remote controls and remote control batteries can be purchased from any
authorized Avital dealer, or by calling Avital Technologies at 1-800-253-0334
(toll-free within the U.S. only) or 1-847-215-2233. In Mexico, dial
525-605-8541.
Electronic Scan Prevention (ESP)
Your system also includes ESP, which blocks electronic scanner codes
preventing unauthorized operation of your system.
Instant Remote Control Code Deletion
In the event of a lost or stolen remote control, all remote controls can be
erased from the system’s memory preventing unauthorized system operation.
(See the "Programming Table for Remote Controls" on page 10.)
One-Step Remote Control Code Learning
The Bandido2 system allows you to add new remote controls in one step. (See
the "Programming Table for Remote Controls" on page 10.)
Valet Switch
The valet switch is a small hidden toggle switch which allows you to control all
of the system’s programmable features. (See "User-Programmable Features" on
page 9.) This switch can only be controlled with the use of your ignition key.
NOTE: Be sure to have your dealer show you where the valet switch is
located.

Operating Your Bandido2 System
To Arm the Alarm System
Your alarm system can be programmed for active or passive arming. Active
arming means the system can only be armed with the remote control. Passive
arming means the system will automatically arm itself. (See the "Programming
Table for system Features"on page 10.)
Active Arming:
Press remote button #1 for 1-2 seconds. The siren will chirp twice, the parking
lights will flash twice, the doors will lock, the LED will flash slowly and the
starter will be disabled.
* If your system was installed with the door lock/unlock feature,
All other door lock/unlock related features will apply.
Passive Arming:
Turn the ignition key "OFF," exit the vehicle and close the doors. When the
interior lights turn off, the LED will begin flashing rapidly to indicate the alarm
is passive arming. After 30 seconds, the siren will chirp twice, the parking
lights will flash twice, the LED will flash slowly and the starter will be disabled
(at any time during passive arming, the alarm can be actively armed).
To Disarm the Alarm System
Press remote button #1 for 1-2 seconds. The siren will chirp once, the parking
lights will flash once, the doors will unlock, the interior lights will turn on, the
LED will turn off and the starter will be enabled.
Operation of the Anti-Carjacking Feature
There are two separate stages for anti-carjacking activation.
Alert Mode:
The Anti-Carjacking activation begins as soon as the ignition key is turned
"ON" or the engine is started. After 10 seconds, the siren will begin chirping to
alert you to deactivate the feature with your remote control. If the feature is
not deactivated, the siren will continue to chirp 7 times which takes
approximately 15 seconds. The parking lights will then begin to flash for 10
seconds. This will give you a total of 35 seconds to deavtivate the
anti-carjacking feature with your remote control.

Engine Shut Down Mode:
After the parking lights have flashed for 10 seconds, the siren will sound and
the parking lights will continue to flash. The system will monitor the engine
RPM's. When the carjacker stops or slows for a turn, the engine will
automatically shut off and not allow the vehicle to be restarted. This process
will allow the carjacker to drive a safe distance from you before shutting down
the engine, but typically close enough to make recovery easier.
When the system enters the Engine Shut Down Mode, the remote control
WILL NOT deactivate the Anti-Carjacking feature. The valet switch must be
used to deactivate the feature and start the engine.
To Activate the Anti-Carjacking Feature
The Anti-Carjacking feature can be programmed active or passive. Active
means the Anti-Carjacking feature can only be activated with the remote
control. Passive means the Anti-Carjacking feature will automatically activate
itself. (See the "Programming Table for System Features" on page 10.)
Active:
In a carjacking situation, while the engine is running, press the remote control
buttons #2 and #3 for 1-2 seconds. The system will automatically begin the
Alert and Engine Shut Down modes. The system does not provide any audible
or visual arming confirmation that would alert the carjacker.
Passive:
Every time the doors are opened and the engine is started or already running,
the Anti-Carjacking feature will automatically activate.
To Deactivate the Anti-Carjacking Feature
1. Start the engine.
2. Within 10 seconds, press the remote buttons #2 and #3 simultaneously for
1-2 seconds.
3. The parking lights will flash two times.
4. The LED will flash 4 times to confirm disarm.
5. While the engine is running, if a door is opened or the interior lights are
turned "ON," you must press the remote buttons #2 and #3 simultaneously
for 1-2 seconds to deactivate the Anti-Carjacking feature.

Remote-Controlled Silent Arm/Disarm
Press the remote button #3 for 1-2 seconds to arm or disarm your system
without the usual siren chirps.
Silent Arm Indications:
The parking lights will flash twice, the doors will lock, the starter will be
disabled and the LED will flash slowly.
Silent Disarm Indications:
The parking lights will flash once, the doors will unlock, the starter will be
enabled and the LED will turn off.
User-Programmable Long-Term Silent Arm/Disarm
This feature allows you to completely disable the arm/disarm siren chirps until
you decide to restore them. (See the "Programming Table for System Features"
on page 10.)
Interior Light Illumination
When the alarm system is remotely disarmed, the vehicle’s interior light(s) will
turn on for 30 seconds or until the ignition key is turned on.
To Activate Optional Accessories
Press remote button #2 for 1-2 seconds to activate an optional accessory. To
activate an additional optional accessory, press remote buttons #1 & #2
simultaneously for 1-2 seconds.
Zone2 ™ Impact Sensor
The Zone2 Impact Sensor has two individual vibration/impact sensing zones.
Zone #1:
If a less threatening vibration or impact is detected, the siren will issue 2
warn-away chirps. A second violation will also issue 2 warn-away chirps. If
within 45 seconds a third violation is detected, the sensor will automatically
trigger the alarm. The siren will sound and the lights will flash.
Zone #2:
If a more threatening vibration or impact is detected at any time, the siren and
lights will activate instantly.

User-Programmable Passive Door Lock
The system will not automatically lock the doors when the alarm passively
arms to prevent the keys and remote from accidentally being locked in the
vehicle. If you prefer, you can easily program the system to automatically lock
the doors every time the alarm passively arms. (See the "Programming Table
for System Features" on page 10.)
User-Programmable Ignition-Controlled Door Lock/Unlock
For the ultimate in security and convenience, the system will automatically
lock the doors when the ignition key is turned “ON” or when the vehicle
engine is started and the doors will unlock when the ignition key is turned
“OFF.” This feature can be programmed on or off. (See the “Programming
Table for System Features” on page 10.)
Remote Panic with Safety Locks™
In a threatening situation, you can activate Remote Panic with Safety Locks.
When activated, the siren will sound continually and the parking lights will
flash on and off. If the ignition key is "OFF," the doors will unlock. If the
ignition key is "ON," the doors will lock. To deactivate, press button #1 for 1-2
seconds.

Specific Zone Intrusion Identification
If the alarm had been triggered in your absence, the siren will chirp 3 times
upon remote disarm (Previous Intrusion Alert). When you enter the vehicle
and turn the ignition “ON,” the LED will flash in cycles to specifically identify
which zone triggered the system.

Automatic Malfunction Override
In the event of a faulty sensor or alarm input trigger zone, the alarm, when
remotely armed, will alert you by a series of chirps and parking light flashes.
How to Interpret the Chirps and Parking Light Flashes:
When you press the remote control buttons, the system will respond with
chirps and flashes of the parking lights to indicate the system status. An
explanation of these chirp/flash acknowledgments follows:
Number of chirps and flashes
Explanation
1 chirp, 1 flash
Disarming of the system
2 chirps, 2 flashes
Arming of the system
2 chirps and flashes, then 4 more chirps
and flashes
Armed and there is a sensor malfunction
(automatically bypassed)
3 chirps, 3 flashes
Disarmed and there was an intrusion attempt
4 chirps, 4 flashes
Armed and there is a trigger malfunction
(automatically bypassed)
Alarm State Memory
If your vehicle’s battery is disconnected and later reconnected, the system will
automatically return to its last state prior to disconnection, whether it was
armed, disarmed or in Protected Valet Mode. For example, if a mechanic
disconnects the battery while the alarm is disarmed or in Protected Valet
Mode, he won’t trigger the system when he reconnects the battery. If a thief
interrupts power while the system is armed, and reconnects it, the alarm will
instantly sound, the parking lights will flash and the starter will be disabled.
