Notes on batteries
This P-touch requires six AA-size batteries. Rechargable
(Ni-Cd or
Ni-MIt) batteries can be used instead of six alkaline batteries.
,_ Tile rechargeable batteries cannot be recharged by leaving them in the P-touch with tile
AC adapter connected. Instead, recharge the batteries by using a battery chalLger
designed specifically for the type of batteries used. For more details oil the rechargeable
batteries, refer to the instrnctions provided with them.
_, Do not use any of the following, otherv,'ise battery leakage or danmge may occur.
• Manganese batteries
• A combination of new and used batteries
• A combination of batteries of different types (alkaline, Ni-Cd and Ni-MH),
different manufacturers or different models
• A combination of recharged and nnchalLged batteries

Make sure that the batteries are inserted so that their poles point in the correct direction.
With batteries installed, the P-touch determines tile renmiNng battery charge during
printing and feeding. If a low battery charge is detected, the low battery indicator (_)
comes on. When this occurs, be sure to replace the batteries. The low battery indicator
_,
may not come on in some operating conditions.
Before replacing the batteries, make sure that the P-touch is turned off. In addition,
when
replacing the batteries, insert the new ones within five minutes of relnoving the old ones,
otherwise the text shown in the display and any text stored in the memory will be lost.

Before installing the tapo cassette,
make sure that the end of the tape feeds under the tape
guides. If the tape cassette to be installed has an ink ribbon and the ink ribbon is loose,
use your finger to wind the toothed wheel in the direction of the an'ow on the cassette
until there is no slack in the ribbon.

that this P-touch is equipped with is able to cut Extra Strength Adhesive
Tape.
Flexible
ID Tape
For applications that require more flexible labels, such as around sharp bends and
cylindrical objects, we recommend using Flexible ID Tape.
,_, Labels made with Flexible ID Tape are not designed tbr use as electrical insulation.
,_, When wrapping labels around cylindrical objects, the diameter of the object should be at
least 1/8" (3 ram), otherwise the label should be wrapped as a flag and the FLAG I_tbel
Type mode should be used. In addition, the overlapping ends of the label or the label flag

acerca
de las pilas
Esta P-touch requiere seis pilas de tamafio AA. Pueden usarse pilas
recargables
(Ni-Cd o Ni-MIB en lugar de 6 pilas alcalinas.
_, Las pilas recargables no se pueden cargar dejfindolas en la P-touch con el adaptador de
CA conectado. Cfi_Lguelascon un cargador disefiado especfficamente para el tilx_de pilas

impmsi6n y el avance de la cinta. Si detecta que queda poca, se encenderfi el indicador
de pilas gastadas (_). Cumldo esto suceda, cambie las pilas. En determinadas
condiciones de fimcionamiento, es lx_sible qne el indicador de pilas gastadas no se
encienda.
Antes de cambiar las pilas, compruebe que la nnidad P-touch estfi apagada. Ademfis, al
cambiar las pilas, inserte las nuevas antes de que transcurran cinco minutos de haber
extrafdo las viejas; de 1ocontrario, el texto visualizado en la pantalla y cualquier texto
almacenado en la memoria se perder_in.
Si prev6 que no va a utilizar la P-touch dumnte un perfodo pmlongado, extraiga las pilas.
Cuando se desconecta la m_iqnina, se pierden el texto que se muestra en la pantalla y el
que esUlalnmcenado en la memoria.
Dado que las pilas que se inclnyen empiezan a descalLgarsedesde el mismo momento en
que la nnktad sale de f_ibrica, es lx_sibleque su duracidn no cumpla las especificaciones,
dependiendo de cu_indo se empiece a usar la unidad.

Antes de instalar el casete de cinta, cerci6rese de que el extremo de la cinta avanza lXW
deb_[jode las gufas. Si el casete de cinta que va a instalar tiene una cinta entintadom y

Cuando inserte el casete de cinta, asegfirese de que la cinta interior no se enganche en el
_ingulode la gufa met_ilica.
Despu6s de instalar un casete de cinta, pulse _

Corte siempre la cinta antes de sacarla de la mfiquina. Si tira de la cinta antes de cortarla,

Cinta con fuerza adhesiva extra

Aunque en la hoja de instrucciones que acompafia al casete de cinta con
fuerza adhesiva extra se recomienda cortarla con tijeras, el cortador de
esta P-touch es capaz de cortar este tipo de cinta.
Cinta de identificacibn flexible

Pare aquellas aplicaciones que requieran etiquetas mils flexibles (pot ejemplo, para
pegarlas sobm curvas pronunciadas o en tomo a objetos cilfndricos), se recomienda usar
cinta de identificaci6n flexible.
Las etiquetas cmadas con cinta de identificacidn flexible no est_'mdisefiadas para sel_'ir
como aislante el0ctrico.
Cuando pegue etiquetas en tomo a objetos cilfndricos, el cfi_imetrodel objeto debe set,
como rNnimo, de 118"(3 ram); si es menor, pegue la etiqueta en forma de bandera y
utilice el modo de tilx_de etiqueta FLAG. Adem_is, los extmlnos solapados de la
etiqueta o la bandera deben tener un mfnimo de 3116"(5 ram).
Si se curva el ot_jetocilfndrico despuOs de pegar la etiqueta, es lx_sible que esta se
despegue.

Es posible que, de vez en cuando, haya que limpiar ciertas partes de la P-touch. Puede
que se adhiera polvo o suciedad al cabezal de impresidn y a los rodillos de la P-touch,
especialmente si se emplea la unidad en exteriores o en lugams con mucho polvo. Con el
uso, el cortador puede recubrirse de adhesivo, haciendo diffcil cortar la cinta.

se esta usando una plantilla. Pot ejemplo, si se combinan las

de seleccionar "1" como campo de numeraci6n y ires

Si hay textos de etiquetas que usa con ffecuencia, puede guardarlos en memoria, junto
con su formato, y despuOs invocarlos f;icilmente para poder modificarlos e imprimirlos
con rapidez. Cuando se almacena un archivo de texto, se le asigna un nfimero para poder
invocarlo mzls facilmente. En la memoria se pueden ahnacenar hasta 10 archivos de
texto o unos 2000 caracteres.Al usar la fimcidn de invocaci6n, se obtiene una copia del
archivo de texto almacenado, por 1o que el texto se puede modificar o imprimir sin
cambiar el archivo almacenado originalmente. Cuando ya no necesite un archivo o

y corte de la cinta
La fimcidn Cut permite definir la forma de avance de la cinta una vez impresa. Los
ajustes de la funci6n de corte son combinaciones de dos m6todos diferentes:
pausa-corte (la maquina detiene la impresi6n para que se pueda cortar la cinta) e
impmsi6n en cadena (la tiltima copia no avanza para set cortada, con 1o que se reduce la
cantidad de cinta desperdiciada).
La impresi6n en eadena es una funei6n de ahorro disefiada para ayudar a eliminar
el "desperdicio de cinta" al comienzo de las etiquetas. Sin la impresi6n eu cadena, el
excedente de la anterior sesi6n de impresi6n se corta antes de que se imprima la primera
etiqueta de la sesi6n actual. En cambio, si se seleceiona un ajuste que incluya la
impresi6n en cadena, la tiltima etiqueta de la sesi6n anterior se quedaril en la milquiua
(no avanzaril), a fin de que la etiqueta siguiente pueda imprimirse sin desperdiciar cinta.
