This Bulletin is in continuation to Certification Bulletin 2012-04, wherein Underwriters Laboratories of Canada Inc. confirmed
having adopted the provisions of the 3rd Edition of the Standard. As informed, all new submittals will be investigated in
accordance with the new and/or revised technical requirements.
Since the changes to the Standard impact products certified by UL & ULC, an Industry File Review (IFR) announced on August
2, 2012 (with an effective date of June 17, 2015) is presently in effect to determine compliance to the new and/or revised
requirements. Details of the IFR and changes to the Standard (Summary of Requirements) are available on UL’s IFR Website
(http://ifr.ul.com/).
In response to concerns raised by some manufacturers, an extension was proposed to the effective date via Bulletin dated
August 20, 2014. No negative comments were received in response to the bulletin. As such the effective date, for currently UL
rd
& ULC Certified products to comply with the new and/or revised requirements in the 3 Edition of CAN/ULC-S527-11, therefore
stands extended to June 16, 2016.
Revisions to UL Follow-Up Procedures, including deletion of models and specific constructions on the previous Effective Date,
resulting from Applicant requests or prior investigation of products by UL will remain in place unless an Applicant specifically
requests that UL reverse such revisions. Applicants interested in retaining such models or constructions until the new Effective
Date should contact UL’s Customer Service Department immediately.
Any questions concerning the above should be directed to Mr. Jason Petrello, Engineering Leader at Jason.Petrello@ul.com.
Sincerely,
Underwriters Laboratories of Canada Inc.
