Enhancements • You can now use an MF-THP volume to set the configuration of a copy pair. You can also determine whether the target volume is an MF-THP volume from the volume attribute information. • You can now manage and monitor a consistency group that contains both open-system Continuous Access pairs and mainframe Continuous Access pairs in HP P9500 storage systems, in the same manner as in XP24000/XP20000 storage systems. • You can now manage a Continuous Access Journal/Continuous Access copy pair that uses a volume connected via FCoE. • Configurations can now include pair management servers in a redundant configuration at a remote site. Even if one of the pair management servers at the remote site is unavailable due to maintenance or a hardware failure, you can still display and monitor configuration information and perform operations on copy pairs (such as resync, split, and restore). • The No Copy option was ignored when copy pairs were added to Continuous Access Journal copy group from the Replication Manager GUI. • When there were multiple primary volume configuration definition files for a single secondary volume configuration definition file, some of the primary volume configuration definition files might not appear in the hosts view or pair configurations view. Fixes Description 3 4 Fixes • If a task operation was performed and the path settings of the target volume of the task were different from those specified when the task was created, the task operation generated the RPM-00456 message. • If a single copy group contained 256 or more Simplex (SMPL) copy pairs, starting Change Pair Status Wizard for that copy group might fail with the KAVN00433-E (RPM-00480) message. • Tasks that create a Continuous Access Journal (CAJ) copy pair or a task that would add a copy pair to an existing CAJ copy group when Replication Manager version is below 7.1.1 generated the KAVN00469-E (RPM-03304) error. • If copy groups that made up a multi-target or cascade configuration contain a different number of pairs, the Pair Configuration Wizard generated the KAVN-00209-E message for copy pair volumes in the copy group with fewer pairs. • Selecting a volume with multiple copy pair definitions and then starting Pair Configuration Wizard generated the KAVN00561-E (RPM-00063) message. • If there was an iSCSI-connected LU on the pair management server, when an attempt was made in Pair Configuration Wizard to perform a pair operation task for a copy group, the task might not be successful. In addition, alerts might not be detected, or the My Copy Group display might be incorrect. • If there was an iSCSI-connected LU on the pair management server, when a create operation that reverses the copy direction was executed in Pair Configuration Wizard, the task succeeded but the result was not reflected in the Configuration Information window. • If the task to create a replica for the SQL Server database or the command (CLI) to make a backup of the database generated the KAVX1212-E message, the pair status might not change to PSUS status and might remain in the PAIR status when the task or command (CLI) ends. • When attempting to open the JNLGs tab for the Continuous Access Journal secondary storage systems in a 3DC delta resync configuration, if the resource group to which the user belonged did not contain a Continuous Access Journal primary storage system, the attempt to display the JNLG list tab might generate the KAVN00209-E message. • If Reverse Copy Direction option was enabled for a create operation in Change Pair Status Wizard, when the task for that operation was run for a copy pair that was part of a copy group whose configuration definition files for the primary volume and secondary volume were located on separate pair management servers, the task generated the RPM-00500 message. • In a mainframe-based system, when selecting a copy pair that contained a volume for an XP24000 or XP20000 storage system, if the Replication Manager registered the Device Manager that contained information about the volume to the information source, the Apply Open/MF CTG option did not appear on 3. Select Pair Operation in Change Pair Status Wizard. • In an environment in which 3DC MxNxO was configured on a mainframe system, you could not add a consistency group to a copy group container. • If the primary and secondary volumes of a remote copy pair had the same LDEV number, when you tried to created or perform operations on a copy pair, it generated the RPM-00506 message, and the copy pair status of the secondary volume became Unknown. • Execution of a task that added a copy pair to an existing copy group that had a CTGID generated the KAVN00453-E (RPM-04601) message. • When selecting multiple volumes in Host view or Storage System view of LUNs, and then trying to start Pair Configuration Wizard, it might generate the KAVN00561-E (RPM-00023) message. • When selecting multiple volumes in Host view of DEVNs - Paired or Storage System view of LDEVsPaired, and then trying to start Pair Configuration Wizard, it might generate the KAVN00561-E (RPM-00023) message. • Display of the Copy Groups page in the Hosts view might generate the KAVN00419-E (RPM-00590) message. Using the Change Pair Status Wizard to execute tasks on copy pairs might generate the KAVN00458-E (RPM-00500) message. In the Edit My Copy Group dialog box, the Replication Manager might have incorrectly displayed Pair Management Server or Config File information. • If you upgraded the P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite, the version of Application Agent available from the download screen might be a version older than your current version. • The Replication Manager Server (Linux) did not support assigning more than 33 IP addresses. Important considerations Replacing secondary volumes of Continuous Access Synchronous or Continuous Access Journal in a 3DC multi-target configuration (open systems) To replace all the secondary volumes included in a Continuous Access Synchronous or P9000/XP Continuous Access Journal copy pair, launch the Pair Configuration Wizard more than once to replace the secondary volumes according to the following procedure. 1. Generate and execute the replacement tasks to partly replace the secondary volumes of the Continuous Access Synchronous or P9000/XP Continuous Access Journal copy pair. 2. Generate and execute the replacement tasks for the secondary volumes not replaced in step 1. If you use Pair Configuration Wizard only once to generate and execute the replacement tasks for all of the secondary volumes in the Continuous Access Synchronous or P9000/XP Continuous Access Journal copy pair, task execution might not be successful. Copy group information displayed by users with View permission If you log in as a user with View permission, incorrect link destinations appear when you click the Copy Group, Pair Management Server, and Config File links in the Copy Groups tab of the Hosts view displayed when you select Resources→Hosts in the Explorer menu. To display the information provided by each link, click in the Explorer menu Resources→Pair Configurations, and then click the item corresponding to each link in the displayed view by choosing Resources→Pair Configurations in the Explorer menu. Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 4 Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 4 are not supported as management clients in this version. Adobe Flash Player This version does not support Adobe Flash Player 10.3 on management clients. Use Adobe Flash Player 10.1 or 10.2. Selecting pair creation options in Pair Configuration Wizard When performing replication operations in a cluster configuration (N:1 configuration), you cannot use the Conceal Secondary Volumes option for pair creation. Important considerations 5 If all of the following conditions are met, a Modify file task registered during pair creation generates the KAVN00590-E error. • Replication Manager is managing copy pairs in a cluster configuration (N:1 configuration). • You launch the Pair Configuration Wizard in the view displayed by selecting Resources and then Applications from the Explorer menu. • You select the Conceal Secondary Volumes option on Pair Setting page of Pair Configuration Wizard. Host Bus Adapter (HBA) When using the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS ) backup functionality of this product, make sure that both the HBA and HBA driver support VSS functionality. Also, note that you cannot use following HBA driver in the import server: • Emulex 9802 32-bit and 64-bit FC Port Drivers 5.2.21a8 Creating a 4x4 Continuous Access Journal copy group for a mainframe system When creating a 4x4 Continuous Access Journal copy group for a mainframe system, in certain configurations there are conditions for the specifiable EXCTG ID. If you create a 4x4 Continuous Access Journal copy group for a mainframe system by using Replication Manager, Replication Manager does not check the specified EXCTG ID. For details about the conditions for the specifiable EXCTG ID, see the Business Continuity Manager release notes. Windows Server 2008 R2 Do not use a Managed Service Account when using Replication Manager on Windows Server 2008 R2. If you specify a Managed Service Account for one of the following services, errors might occur while you are performing Replication Manager operations: • • Application Agent services ◦ Protection Manager Service ◦ HBsA Service SQL Server, SQL Server Agent, and other SQL Server-related services (when running a service to create a replica for an SQL Server database) Maintaining copy group consistency For copy groups with consistency maintained between open systems and mainframe systems, you cannot perform the following copy pair status change operations: • • Operations on the open system: ◦ takeover ◦ swap ◦ takeover-recovery (resync) ◦ takeover-recovery (recreate) Operations on the mainframe system: ◦ restore Also, regarding the above copy groups that are having their consistency maintained, if you use a tool other than Replication Manager to perform a swap operation or takeover (Reverse Resync) operation for either only the copy group on the open system or only the copy group on the mainframe system, you cannot use Replication Manager to manage the relevant copy group. 6 Important considerations Prerequisites See the HP StorageWorks P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite Software Installation and Configuration Guide for complete product requirements.
