breast shield, membrane & valve, and silicone cushion should be
cleaned and may be sterilized after each use.
Be sure to wash your hands before touching the breast pump and
accessories. Avoid touching the inside of containers or lids.
1. Breast Shield Assembly
Attach the Silicone Cushion (01) to the Breast
Shield (2). Fasten well and tight to avoid air leak.
2. Cap Assembly
Insert the Silicone Diaphragm (05) on the top
portion of the Expression Collection Kit (a).
Screw the Cap (04) tightly to the breast shield to
prevent air leak.
Know your nipple size. The size of the Mango
Breast Shield without the silicone cushion is 27mm.
This is the standard size most mothers require, which
is about the size of a nickel. If your nipple is smaller
than a nickel, you may do better with the Silicone
Cushion which converts the flange size to 24mm.
Having the right flange size for your nipple size
contributes to pumping efficiency and comfort.
3. Valve Assembly
The Valve (11) has a very tiny slot. Insert the
Membrane (10) to this slot and make sure it is
fastened well.
Flip the membrane with your finger,
then release to check that you have fastened the
membrane properly. The membrane should automatically flip up and lay flat on the valve if you have
securely fastened the membrane. Membrane not
fastened well or worn out membrane will cause
poor suction. Mount the Valve (11) SECURELY unto
the bottom part of the breast shield as illustrated.

Always check that there is no moisture on any of the parts of the collection kit.
Always check that the membrane and tubes are not worn out and do not have any
holes.
Make sure that the tubes are straight and not bent or twisted.
Do not try to express with a vacuum level that is too high which may result to
discomfort and pain.
At any time that you feel pain and discomfort, or if you are not being able to express
milk, consult a breastfeeding specialist.
Keep in mind that: Low Suction or No Suction does not mean something is wrong with
your Breast Pump. This often means something might be wrong on how you assembled
the Breast Shield Set. It could be improper connection of the tubing connector to the
breastshield and the breast pump. Or, there may be moisture present on the tubes or
parts of the breastshield set.
1. Plug the AC Adapter cord to the power outlet.
2. Place the breast shield over your breast so that your nipple is properly

You must wash these parts separately from dishes and any other food
preparation equipment.
Use a bottle brush, one with a smaller brush on the opposite end, to reach all
the tiny nooks of the pump parts.
Rinse each piece thoroughly with hot water for 10 to 15 seconds.
Boiling is not necessary as long as you have rinsed the parts with hot water for
10 to 15 seconds.
You may choose to sterilize these parts by boiling but not more than 3 minutes.
Exposure to heat through boiling will cause damage to the plastic, silicone and
membrane.
All parts may also be washed in the dishwasher using the top rack except for
the valve and membrane.
After washing, lay all the parts on a clean paper towel or on a drying rack and
allow all parts to air dry.

the suction level.
9. Adjust the Speed Level according to what’s comfortable for you. Press the
plus “+” button to increase the speed level or the minus “-” button to
decrease the speed level.
10. Mango has a Feature that will remember your settings. The next time that
you pump, it will automatically go to your last pumping session settings.
11. Once you are done pumping, turn the breast pump OFF. Unplug the device.
12. Remove the tubing connectors from the breast shields first before taking the
breast shields off.
13. Unscrew the bottle from the breast shields and carefully screw the lid of the
collection bottle.

STORING BREASTMILK:
Wash bottles and pumping supplies in hot soapy water or in dishwasher
Wash your hands prior to handling your breastpump kit and starting a pumping session
Breastmilk can be stored in clean BPA-Free plastic bottles with tight fitting lids
You may also use BPA-Free breastmilk storage bags.
AFTER EACH PUMPING SESSION:
Date your container. If you are giving the breastmilk to a childcare provider, label the container with
your child’s name on it.
Gently swirl the container to mix the breastmilk. It is normal for breastmilk to separate.
Refrigerate or chill your milk right after pumping.
Never store milk on the shelves of the refrigerator door.
FREEZING BREASTMILK:
Leave an inch or so of space at the top of the container. Milk expands as it freezes.
Store milk in the back of the freezer. Do not store milk on the shelves of the freezer door.
Chill freshly pumped milk before adding it to a frozen milk.
THAWING AND WARMING MILK:
Use the oldest stored breastmilk first.
Breastmilk does not need to be warmed. It can be served room temperature or cold.
If you do warm your milk, swirl it (DO NOT SHAKE). Test the breastmilk temperature by
dropping some to your wrist, making sure it is not too warm for your baby.
Thaw frozen milk in the refrigerator overnight or under warm running water. You may also
thaw milk in a container of warm water.
Never microwave breastmilk. Microwaving creates hot spots which can burn your baby’s mouth.
Use thawed breastmilk within 24 hours.
Never refreeze thawed breastmilk.
Troubleshooting Tips
WEAK SUCTION OR NO SUCTION:
Membrane and valve must be connected and attached properly. There should be a tiny slot on the
valve to fasten the membrane.
Membrane & valve must be totally dry and not damp.
Frequent use or improper sterilization method can cause aging on the membrane. If the membrane
has aged and is worn out, replace immediately. Membrane chips, cracks or holes will affect the suction
performance.
Make sure that the silicone cushion on the pump fits tightly unto the breast shield. The silicone
cushion has edges that should mould perfectly across the flange edges. Silicone cushion not
snugly attached will cause poor suction.
Make sure that the silicone diaphragm is properly attached to the breastshield body.
Check that all connections are tight that will cause any air leak.
Check that tubes are not wet, damped, bent or twisted.
Tubes must be straightened to ensure proper air flow.
Make sure that there is no dried up milk residue in the tubes. If you notice any milk residue, clean
the tubes and air dry. (Follow Proper Cleaning Instructions from this Manual)
If you notice any water condensation or milk inside the tubes, clean and air dry.
Tubes must always be dry and checked prior to every use. Wet tubes, Damp tubes will
cause poor suction.
Worn out tubes with holes will cause poor suction. Replace immediately if worn out.
Check to make sure that the breastshield is well secured and tightly fastened to the tubing
connector.
Check that tubing connector ends are tight and connected well with the tubes, the breast pump
motor and the breast shield.
***All the above instructions must be followed. Failure to follow any of these instructions will
lead to a weak suction or no suction at all.
BREAST PUMP IS WORKING BUT NO BREASTMILK IS COMING OUT:
You might be experiencing breast engorgement. Place a warm towel on the engorged breast.
Use thumb massage from the bottom of your breast up to your nipple for 10-15 minutes. Try
doing this before starting a pumping session.
You might have abundance of milk. Using your hand, try to squeeze some milk out before
using the breast pump.
It is recommended to pump every 2 to 3 hours, including breastfeeding hours. If you are still in
postnatal care, you must pump on each breast for 15 minutes according to your milk secretion.
Do not pump more than 30 minutes to avoid hurting your breast.
If you have large breasts, hold and massage gently while pumping milk to help with the milk flow.
***If all the above steps have been followed and you are still having problems, please call Bellema
or visit us at www.bellemausa.com to watch some of our troubleshooting videos.
DEVICE NOT POWERING ON:
Check on your power outlet by plugging another electrical device. Make sure the power outlet
source is working.
Make sure that your Power Adaptor is connected properly with the breast pump unit.
If you are using a Power Adaptor and your breast pump is not turning on, try using the battery
power and not the AC Adaptor. Make sure battery is fully charged. If it works on the battery power,
you might have a defective AC adaptor.
MILK OVERFLOW PREVENTION:
Mango is a closed system breast pump, designed with a barrier so that milk will not enter the
tube. Below are some measures to avoid milk backflow:
Adjust the pumping power to a lesser level if your breastmilk is relatively abundant.
Try releasing the pressure between your breast and the silicone cushion if you notice that the milk
is all gathered inside the flange and is not streaming down to the collection bottle.
Do not overfill the collection bottle.
DISPOSAL
Medical equipment and other devices should be disposed of in proper containers that meet Environmental Protection
Agency standards. Check with your local State Laws & Regulations in regards to proper disposal.
***If you experience pain or discomfort from pumping, stop immediately and consult a Breastfeeding Specialist or a Lactation
Consultant. Improper use of breast pump may result to breast tissue damage or mastitis.

shield with your finger, then remove the breast shield from your breast.
If pumping is uncomfortable or causing pain, turn the unit off, break the seal
between the breast and the breast shield with your finger and remove breast
shield from your breast.
Using your hand, try to squeeze some milk out before
using the breast pump.
If this is the first time you will be using the Mango, disassemble all parts that
will come in contact with the breast and breast milk: bottles, valve & membrane,
silicone cushion and breast shield.
All these must be cleaned after each use.
Wash all of them in warm water using any baby liquid detergent.
Make sure all the parts including valve and membrane are dry prior to use.
Moisture on any part of the collection kit may affect the suction power.
Once all the parts are dry, re-assemble the collection kit.
Mango is a Closed System. Cleaning the tubes is not necessary.
If you see moisture in the tubes after pumping, remove the tubes from the
collection kit and turn the motor on for a few minutes until the moisture is gone.
If you wash the tubes and tubing connectors, make sure they are totally dry as
moisture on tubes will affect suction.
Cleaning the Breast Pump Unit:
You may wipe off and sanitize the tube entry from time to time using a clean
disinfectant wipes or damp cloth prior to use. Never submerge into water nor
sterilize the Breast Pump Unit.
