Lowell Seismic-certified Gangable Rack - 36"D
Description:
The LSGR seismic-certified gangable rack is Professional Engineer (P.E.)
certified to meet or exceed the seismic design requirements as specified
in the 2009 International Building Code (IBC), Section 1613; the 2007
California Building Code (CBC), Section 1613; and California's Office of
Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). Specifically, the
LSGR rack is seismic qualified and certified for two (2) categories of seismic qualification (see below) with individual downloadable document
packages for IBC, CBC, and OSHPD.Qualifed seismic categories:
1. Racks identified as part of a Life Safety/Essential System (Ip =
1.5). These racks are so designated and required in critical or essential facilities where operation and function following a major
earthquake event is necessary. See IBC and CBC document packages.
2. Racks requiring seismic design 'Anchorage' by code (Ip = 1.0), but
are NOT identified as a Life Safety/Essential System. These racks
only require their supports and attachments; i.e., anchorage, to be
seismically qualified and certified. See IBC, CBC and OSHPD document packages.
The rack's open frame is welded 16-gauge steel with seamless X-style
side-frame construction, a 14-gauge steel bottom with welded brackets
in each corner of the base, holes for anchors (by others), reinforcements
at loadbearing junctures for strength equivalent to 11-ga. steel, and most
importantly P.E. certified documents. Note: Installation requirements vary
based on application and may require front and rear 1U braces installed
at the factory - refer to IBC, CBC and OSHPD document packages and
specify the code to which your rack must comply when ordering.

Features:
• Seismic P.E. Certified for Life Safety/Essential Systems and Anchorage.
• Made in USA with 100% certified U.S. steel finished in black powder
epoxy.
• Adjustable Rack Rails: (2-pair RRD-series) tapped 10-32.
• Front: open front has vents top and bottom for passive ventilation and
will accept surface front door (LFD-series, order separately).
• Rear: rack includes recessed, locking rear door - vented top/ bottom.
Removable knockout panels set above and below rear door.
• Top: open top features 6"D rear conduit plane with knockouts for conduit: three (2"-1"), two (1.5"-1"), plus room to use a Greenlee-style
punch for 4" conduit. Top also features six (0.5") knockouts for BNC
style wireless antennas. Two flush solid steel panels (3U and 7U) are
included to close the 10U opening. 19"W fan panels may be used instead (order separately).
• Bottom: 14-gauge steel bottom with welded brackets in each corner
of the base and holes for anchors (by others). Vertical array of 2"
holes and 4" x 1.5" openings front-to-rear along rack bottom assist
cabling between racks.
A&E Specifications:
The seismic-certified gangable rack shall be Lowell UL Listed (Standard
1678) Model ______ and shall include P.E. Certified documents for
____(IBC, CBC, OSHPD). Rack shall measure 23.06"W x 36"D x
______"H with ___U panel space for mounting 19"W E.I.A. standard
components. Rack shall include a vented rear door, solid top closure
panels and two pair of adjustable mounting rails tapped 10-32. Each
welded assembly shall be of 16-gauge US Certified steel with seamless
X-frame side construction and have a 14-gauge steel bottom with reinforcement at all load-bearing junctures. Rack shall include compound
knockouts on the top for conduit size 2"-1" and 1.5"-1", 0.5" knockouts
for BNC wireless antennas, and a 10U top opening with integral E.I.A.
rackrail to accept 19" wide accessories (solid closure panels are included). Bottom shall include welded brackets in all corners and holes
for anchors (by others). Rack shall be equipped with 2" diameter holes
located top to bottom along the rear side for wire/cable management between racks. Additionally, there shall be 4" x 1.5" obround openings front
to rear along the bottom of the rack to manage cable bundles between
racks. Rear frame shall include removable knockout panels for passage
of large cable bundles above and below the rear door. Knockout panels
shall have 0.5" knockouts (for wireless microphone antennas) and include compound knockouts for conduit size .75"-.5" and 1.5"-1". Rack
front shall include vents above and below the door opening. Finish shall
be wrinkle powder epoxy in black.
Options: (order separately)
• Side Panels: vented, steel side panels with black finish. (Sold in
sets). Side panels increase overall width to 24.31". See models in
chart below.
• Front Door: locking front door in solid steel, fully-vented steel, or
steel frame with smoked Plexiglas insert (LFD-series).
• Rack Rails: additional rails (RRD-series).
