Role Summary
As Learning Media Producer you will combine equipment proficiency and creative flare with a passion for learning.
You will capture and produce high quality learning content through conventional 2d & 3D filming and through
feeds from simulated environments to inspire students at a distance and contribute to the ongoing evolution of
our offering. Flexibility, willingness to learn new technologies, customer focus and commitment to making a
difference for our students will be essential.
Principal Accountabilities
1.
To produce high quality media content content through conventional 2d & 3D filming and through feeds
from simulated environments, within University guidelines, providing a consistent user experience for online
students.
2.
To provide input and feedback proposals and suggestions for media elements within academic content.
3.
To project manage small media projects in support of trimester delivery.
Responsibilities:
1.
To record and edit video and sound projects. Including selecting/editing footage and sound files, creating
and inserting static and motion graphics, adding music/voice-over and effects.
2.
To contribute to the review and feedback on academic learning content with the aim of increasing student
engagement and improving the student experience.
3.
To manage small projects in relation to the creation and development of media elements for use within

online learning.
4.
To learn and provide advise on new technologies and ability to take media output from such technologies
that can be used for rich learning content development.
5.
Create and develop multimedia (audio/video) content for module learning content, learner case studies,
student induction etc; ranging from larger multi-location work to short on-site productions.
6.
To support the academic team in becoming familiar with media technology use so as to engender selfservice approach to creating video/audio where appropriate.
7.
To develop digital media assets based on the learning review, in collaboration with the academic team,
using appropriate media development tools.
8.
Work independently, as well as part of a team to establish project deliverables.
9.
To collaborate closely with internal clients and stakeholders to help facilitate the creation of multimedia
content.
10.
To script, storyboard and plan media projects to ensure requirements and expectations of learning content
are met.
11.
To produce graphics and visuals to enhance content and support engagement with learning.
12.
To ensure all media content complies with relevant guidelines and manage consistency across different
modules, programmes and online environments.
13.
To ensure content accommodates accessibility and usability requirements in accordance with industry
guidelines.
14.
To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested by line management to ensure the quality
of University of Derby Online's web-based learning resources.

Essential Criteria
Qualifications

Educated to a degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject and/or significant experience in a
media arts, communications, broadcast journalism, film/television production or other related field
Experience






Experience in working to corporate guidelines including house style, tone of voice
Experience in developing interactive online assets and digital media
Experience of adding after effects to media including animation
Experience in graphics production, editing and optimisation and a commitment to quality design
and visual appearance
Proven experience of coordinating a wide variety of media-related projects
Knowledge of digital media and editing software
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities








Highly organised with strong administration and project management skills
Keen team player who can achieve results as well as being able to work on their own initiative
Excellent communicator able to work easily with people of varying levels of publications and web
knowledge
Patient, flexible, diplomatic and calm, when working to tight deadlines
Resilient and open to challenge in a fast paced business environment
Strong knowledge of MS Office
Sound knowledge of developing, creating and publishing high quality media/video content
Understanding of current trends in digital media and media production

Experience of working to legal guidelines and web standards including accessibility, copyright and
data protection
Experience of working with Content Management Systems
