Highlander
Go your own way.
Distinct styling
The new Highlander has a powerful presence.
Inside and out, the look and feel is city
sophistication.
Versatile space
You can seat seven people in comfort, or fold five
seats flat in various combinations for tailored
carrying capacity.
Drive enhancements
The Integrated Dynamic Drive System (IDDS),
including on-demand All Wheel Drive (AWD),
enhances driver control and vehicle stability.
Optimised safety
Highlander prepares you for the unexpected
with advanced safety features such as Blind Spot
Monitor (BSM) and Land Departure Alert (LDA).
2
3
A show of confidence.
The look is implicitly confident: strong
and powerful yet also manouevrable and
athletic. A bold upright grille tastefully
edged with chrome combined with sleek
LED headlamps and daytime running
lights, create a stylish front. Along the
side, crisp-cut lines flow smoothly front
to back with subtle contours around the
19" double-spoke alloy wheels. The new
Highlander has a distinct presence.
It proudly stands apart for all the
right reasons.

Your personal space.
Recognising quality is an instinctive
sensory reaction. You’ll experience it with
the Highlander the moment you open the
door and relax into those big leather seats.
Soft-touch trim materials, tactile woodlook inserts and ambient lighting reinforce
the feeling of prestige. A heated steering
wheel together with ventilated and heated
seating adds practical luxury. Wherever
you go, through town or country, the
Highlander offers a calming retreat from
the world outside.

Connected
technologies.
Information equals control, and with the
Highlander you have both in abundance. A
look, a finger-tip touch or a spoken command
connects you with everything from driving
data and in-car climate to entertainment and
Bluetooth® services. The key is connectivity
between your car’s Toyota Touch® 2 multimedia system, the multi-information
display and multi-information switches on
the steering wheel. Furthermore, the JBL
premium sound system gives you superior
and immersive acoustics specially calibrated
for Highlander’s interior cabin. This is
technology as it should be: meaningful,
accessible and very user-friendly.

and USB, iPod and smartphone compatibility.

Room for life.
The Highlander gives you versatile space
for living life to the full. The option of
seven seats and a spacious trunk make
it ideal for families. The flexibility comes
from folding the rear seats in different
combinations to create flat surfaces for
carrying anything from holiday luggage to
sports gear or a mountain bike. In addition
to this, the rear door has a smart power
back door release as well as a glass hatch
window for easy access and loading.
Versatility is the key
The second and third row seats fold flat in a 60:40 combination,
giving you freedom to change the seating and load configuration
to your personal needs.
10
11
12
Ready for everything.
The Highlander’s Integrated Dynamic
Drive System (IDDS), double wishbone rear
suspension and rigid body all aid the vehicle’s
All Wheel Drive (AWD) technology to enhance
handling, agility and cornering stability.
IDDS transfers 10% torque to the rear
wheels just before turning and up to 50%
during cornering, maintaining complete
vehicle control.
INTEGRATED DYNAMIC
DRIVE SYSTEM
Electric Power Steering (EPS)
If your car begins to skid, IDDS changes the torque applied to
the EPS and so helps you make steering adjustments to
regain control.
Vehicle Stability Control Plus (VSC+)
When turning sharply or cornering on a slippery surface, VSC+
operates each brake independently, controls engine output and
steering torque to maintain stability and prevent skidding.
Traction Control (TRC)
If you accelerate too hard and the drive wheels spin, TRC
automatically reduces engine power and controls brake force
to help restore traction.

Peace of mind with advanced safety systems.
Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)
BSM makes lane change
manoeuvres safer. A warning
light illuminates on the
appropriate side mirror if
your car’s rear-mounted
radar sensors detect another
vehicle in your rear or side
blind spots. The warning
light will then flash if you
subsequently indicate to
change lanes while the other
vehicle is still there.
Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
LDA helps you maintain a
steady course on multi-lane
roads. It provides an audio
and visual warning if your
car starts to drift away from
its lane markings without
you having first used your
turning indicators.
Automatic High Beam (AHB)
AHB optimises visibility for
you and other road users
during night driving. A
camera located by the rear
view mirror detects the
lights of on-coming vehicles
and also monitors street
light brightness. Using this
information the system
automatically switches your
lights between high and
low beam, leaving you
to concentrate on
driving safely.
Supplemental Restraint
System (SRS)
With the Highlander, you and
your passengers are protected
by a comprehensive system
of 8 airbags – the highest
number of SRS airbags in its
class. In addition to front and
head airbags for the driver
and front seat passenger,
there is also a driver’s knee
airbag, a passenger seat
cushion airbag and side
curtain airbags running the
length of the car.
Hill-start Assist Control
(HAC)
When moving from
stationary on a steep incline,
HAC automatically applies
the brakes for up to two
seconds after you have
released the brake pedal and
so prevents your car rolling
back. You activate the system
by pushing the brake pedal
harder after stopping and
leaving the transmission
shift lever in a forward
gear position.

The fuel consumption, CO and noise values are measured in a controlled environment on a basic production vehicle, in accordance with the requirements of European law published by the European
Commission. For further information, or if you are interested in buying a basic production vehicle, please contact Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA. The fuel consumption and CO values of your vehicle may vary
from those measured. Driving behaviour as well as other factors (such as road conditions, traffic, vehicle condition, installed equipment, load, number of passengers, ...) play a role in determining a car’s
fuel consumption and CO emissions.

clear colour image displayed on screen helps you spot
hidden hazards and park with ease.
Rain sensor
The automatic rain sensor instantly sets the appropriate
wiper speed and intervals.
Dusk sensor
The dusk sensor monitors light levels and automatically
switches on the headlights when the light is low.
Smart Entry & Start System
Instead of a conventional key, the Smart Entry & Start
System features a transmitter that allows you to unlock
the doors by pulling the handle and lock them again by
pressing a button. To start or stop the engine, simply
press the Start/Stop button. All you need to do is carry
the Smart Entry key in your pocket or handbag.
All Wheel Drive (AWD)
In normal road conditions, drive is through the front
wheels, but on loose or slippery surfaces the system
automatically and continuously distributes the torque
between front and rear wheels. This optimises traction
and driving stability and also maximises fuel economy.
Toyota Touch® 2 with Go
Building on the Toyota Touch® 2 multimedia base unit,
Toyota Touch® 2 with Go includes a navigation system
with full European map coverage, detour and eco-route
functions. Its WVGA screen displays a 2D and 3D map
view with connected services including real-time traffic
updates and local online search facilities. Advanced
Bluetooth® enables features such as Toyota Eurocare
roadside assistance and SOS emergency call support.
Toyota Touch® 2
Toyota Touch® 2 is a fully integrated multimedia system,
featuring a colour touch screen with drag and flick
capabilities, and advanced audio system compatible
with USB devices, iPods and smartphones. Bluetooth®
3.0 enables features such as hands-free calls, SMS
integration and music streaming. The WVGA screen is
also linked to a rear-view camera for safer reversing.
Dynamic guidelines on camera display
Reverse more safely using the dynamic guidelines on
the rear-view camera display. The display shows the area
behind the vehicle, as well as the vehicle’s anticipated
course when reversing. The clear colour image helps
you to spot hidden hazards and dynamic guidelines will
adjust as the vehicle manoeuvres to help you reverse
and park with ease.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake
force Distribution (EBD)
ABS prevents the wheels from locking while braking.
EBD complements this by optimising brake force
distribution between each wheel to compensate for
different loads. Together the two systems help you to
maintain steering control when braking heavily.
Vehicle Stability Control Plus (VSC+)
VSC+ helps to maintain stability and prevent skidding
when turning sharply or cornering on slippery surfaces.
Whenever the start of a skid is detected, it automatically
activates individual brakes and controls engine output.
In addition, it applies steering assistance to make it
easier to get back on course.
Downhill Assist Control (DAC)
When descending off-road, DAC applies individual
brakes to keep the vehicle stable and maintain its speed
between 5 and 7 km/h. DAC works in forward or reverse,
and when activated it requires no pedal input from
the driver.
Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) – 8 airbags
This model is fitted with eight airbags. They include
driver’s knee airbag, SRS airbags for both driver and
passenger, a passenger seat cushion airbag, side airbags
for the front seats and SRS curtain shield airbags
covering both the front and rear seat passengers.
Pre-tensioners and force limiters
Integral to the front 3-point ELR seat belts, pretensioners and force limiters are designed to help
avoid injuries to the chest area.
3.5 l V6 Dual VVT-i
The powerful and efficient 3.5 litre V6 Dual VVT-i petrol
engine uses low-friction, lightweight components
to deliver maximum performance with lower fuel
consumption and emissions. Dual VVT-i technology
controls valve timing and lift, while the Acoustic Control
Induction System (ACIS) optimises the air intake for
greater efficiency and torque at all speeds.
ISOFIX seat fixing
Seats incorporate special anchor points, including a top
tether that helps prevent the seat tipping forward. These
provide a safe and convenient way of correctly securing
ISOFIX child seats (available from your Toyota dealer).
Automatic transmission
Toyota’s automatic transmissions offer a smooth,
effortless drive with minimal driver effort. Gear changes
are quick and responsive, and additional manual modes
(availability depending on model) enable greater control
if required. Automatic transmissions are engineered for
the best balance of performance and economy.
