MODEL HD
For applications requiring a low profile unit, Modine offers the Hot Dawg® unit heater. The Hot Dawg®
may be installed in residential or commercial applications just one inch below the ceiling. The
superior quality matched with the following features makes the Hot Dawg® unit heater an easy
choice for a variety of applications:
• 82% thermal efficiency for fuel savings.
• Uses natural or propane gas (field convertible from natural to propane gas).
• Certified for residential, commercial and industrial use.
• Lightweight, easily installs 1" from ceiling with only two angle brackets (standard on 30-75,
accessory for 100-125).
• Install quickly and easily with knockouts for quick access to gas and electricity.
• The standard power exhauster allows the unit to be vented vertically or horizontally and is
designed to use the smallest diameter vent pipe possible.
• Permanently-lubricated motor for trouble-free dependability.
• Full 10-year warranty on heat exchanger.
• Available in both propeller fan and centrifugal blower configurations.
The PDP (propeller) power vented gas-fired unit heater is a product that is inexpensive to install,
easy to use, and offers excellent in-service economy. The PDP model series expands on the size
range of the HD model series providing product that is certified for commercial and industrial
applications in sizes from 150 through 400MBH.

The PTP features a stainless steel tubular heat exchanger as STANDARD on all units with a
10-year heat exchanger warranty, providing customers with a peace of mind. Users of the PTP will

The separated combustion models HDS/HDC and PTS/BTS draw 100% of their combustion air from
outside to ensure that the unit will always have plenty of fresh, clean air to breathe. This fresh-air
supply reduces common concerns about maintenance, performance, and durability in dusty, dirty, or
humid applications. In addition, by drawing the combustion air from the outside, the overall heating
efficiency is increased. In short, the separated combustion units give you the added advantages of:

At 93% thermal efficiency for all model sizes, Modine’s Effinity93® condensing unit heater
features the highest efficiency available in North America for commercial and industrial,
as well as residentially certified (sizes 110 and smaller) gas-fired unit heaters. This industry
leading efficiency is a result of the coupling of our Conservicore® secondary heat
exchanger technology with our robust tubular primary heat exchanger design. The
Conservicore® technology features a secondary recuperative heat exchanger fabricated
from AL29-4C® stainless steel. This material is superior to other lower grades of stainless
steel and aluminum, resulting in outstanding ability to withstand the corrosive environment
of condensing gas fired equipment.
Available in ten model sizes with input ranges from 55,000 to 310,000 Btu/Hr, Modine offers
application flexibility unmatched in the industry. The separated combustion units draw
combustion air from outside to ensure that the unit will always have plenty of fresh, clean
air for combustion while increasing the overall heating efficiency. Venting material to be
used is PVC, an extremely cost effective vent system.

GAS-FIRED, BLOWER MODELS
Blower unit heaters are designed for both heating and ventilating. All Modine gas-fired unit
heater types can be equipped with blowers, including our Hot Dawg® low-profile residential
garage heaters and the Effinity93®. In fact, the Effinity93® is the only high efficiency gas-fired
unit heater in North America with this option available.
These units can be used in a variety of ways:
• Ducting air in from adjacent spaces for ventilation.
•P
rotecting units from corrosive spaces by mounting them remotely and ducting in warm air.
•W
here quietness is important, blower fans are lower-noise and can be ducted, unlike
propeller units.
• Deflector hoods can be used in areas with higher mounting heights.

The Modine indoor duct furnace was designed for use with a building’s heating, heating/
cooling and make-up air systems. Available in 11 model sizes, in both gravity and power
vented configurations, the unit covers a wide variety of applications. They have input
ranges from 75,000 to 400,000 Btu/Hr and can operate on either natural or propane
gas. The airflow direction can be specified when ordering the unit. The duct furnace is
certified for location either upstream or downstream from cooling coils and has a drain
pan that allows connection to a condensate drain line.
Standard features include:
• C.S.A. certification.
• ETL certification.
• All units a minimum of 82% thermally efficient.
• 20 gauge aluminized steel cabinet.
• Certified to 3.0" W.C. external static pressure for high static applications.

Modine’s high-intensity ceramic infrared heater is approved for indoor unvented
installation. It does not utilize a fan, thus eliminating noise and draft distractions.
Gas and power connections are simple and maintenance is inexpensive, since there
are no moving parts to maintain. Available controls include Direct Spark Ignition,
Self-Generating Millivolt, and Intermittent Pilot (non-100% shut-off).

Modine’s IHR series heaters include the following features:
• Rugged aluminized steel frame.
• Exclusive ceramic burner provides maximum infrared radiation.
• Stainless steel rods increase heat temperature and efficiency.

An industry leader since Arthur B. Modine invented and patented the first lightweight,
suspended hydronic unit heater in 1923, the Modine hydronic unit heater has proven one of
the most popular of all unit-heater types in commercial and industrial applications. Designed
for long heat-throw and uniform heat delivery, two types are offered:

orizontal Delivery Units (Model HSB/HC) – Recommended for use in buildings where
ceilings are low and with few obstructions. Units are normally placed around the perimeter
of the building so that the air stream from each heater “wipes” the wall to produce a blanket
of warm air along walls where heat loss is greatest.

ower-Throw™ High Velocity Horizontal Delivery Units (Model PT/PTN) –
Recommended where there is a requirement for heat throw greater than can be provided
by standard horizontal delivery models. For hard-to-heat areas, such as frequently opened
loading dock doors or large warehouses, Power-ThrowTM units are an ideal choice. A single

Modine’s HEX electric unit heaters are designed for hazardous industrial locations
where potential for explosion exists due to the presence of flammable gases, vapors,
powdered-metals or dusts. HEX electric unit heaters are UL-listed for Class I, Divisions
1 & 2, Groups C & D; Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F and G and Class II, Division 2,
Groups F and G. UL temperature code shall be T3B 329°F (165°C) for Class I and II,
indicating maximum operating-surface temperatures.
MODEL HEX
Standard features include:
• Liquid to air, finned tube heat exchanger core.
• Ethylene glycol water mixture used as heat-transfer fluid in the heater core, providing
-49°F (-45°C) freeze damage protection.

Modine offers three types of indoor indirect gas fired duct furnaces to cover a wide range
of heating applications in building heating and make-up air systems.
Gravity Vented
Model DFG duct furnaces are an economical choice for superior quality and dependability in most
applications. These units feature the following:
• Available in 11 model sizes from 75,000 to 400,000 Btu/hr, all 80% thermally efficient for fuel savings.
• Aluminized steel heat exchanger (409 stainless steel optional).
• Uses natural or propane gas (field convertible from natural to propane gas).
• Certified for location either upstream or downstream from cooling coils and has a drain pan that
allows connection to a condensate drain line.
• Certified to 3.0" W.C. external static pressure for high static applications.
• A wide range of controls, options, and accessories for unit customization.
• Because the unit relies on a natural draft to vent properly, power vented units should be
considered if the vent system is horizontal or if the space in which the unit is located is generally
under a negative pressure.
MODEL DFG
GRAVITY VENTED
Power Vented
Model DFP includes the items featured for Model DFG, but adds an integral power exhauster for:
• Vertical or horizontal venting with the smallest diameter vent pipe possible.
• The ability to overcome reasonable negative pressures seen in buildings with inadequate make up air.
• Improved building efficiency through the reduction of off-cycle vent losses.
Separated Combustion
Model DFS builds upon the advantages of the Power Vented Model DFP, but is specifically designed
for buildings with hostile environments, such as dirty or high humidity applications. This model
features:
• Separate electrical and gas control access with fully gasketed doors to seal components from the
environment.
• Combustion air that is drawn from outside to ensure the unit has plenty of fresh, clean air.
• Since combustion air is introduced from outside, off-cycle vent losses are essentially eliminated,
further improving building efficiency.
• Horizontal or vertical two-pipe or concentric venting options.

The Modine WeatherHawk® weatherproof duct furnace was
designed for use with a building’s heating, heating/cooling
and make-up air systems. Available in 11 power vented
model sizes, the unit covers a wide variety of applications.
They have input ranges from 75,000 to 400,000 Btu/Hr
and can operate on either natural or propane gas. Right
or left hand control access can be specified when ordering
the unit. The duct furnace is certified for location either
upstream or downstream from cooling coils and has holes to
drain any condensate that may form onto the roof.

Modine direct-fired, make-up-air units - the MDB (Single Speed and Variable Frequency
Drive Two Speed/Multi Speed Make-Up Air) and MRB (Fresh and Return Air), are designed
to provide an economical and efficient means of supplying tempered make-up air to a
space or building. Available in eight airflow configurations, the units cover a wide variety of
applications.

MODINE INDUSTRIAL & COMMERCIAL HEATING & VENTILATING EQUIPMENT
The Modine Cassette units effectively make each area served an independent controlled
temperature zone. Through thermostatic control of operations, conditions can be varied
to suit diverse requirements or activities. Optional fresh air intakes are available to
provide for ventilation and recirculation of room air.
Modine Cassettes are available in a choice of three models – DX cooling or heat
pumps in five model sizes and chilled water cooling with six model sizes – to properly
match units to job requirements. Optional heating can be provided by factory installed
electric heat or hot water modules, depending on model. This versatility eliminates
compromising architecture or design. Important cost savings are often realized during
building modernizations, as existing piping and/or wiring can frequently be reused.
Design techniques are incorporated in every Modine Cassette to reduce noise levels
to an absolute minimum. These techniques include low blower speeds, rigid panel and
cabinet construction, and sound-absorbent cabinet insulation.
For individual comfort, Modine Cassettes are available with electro-mechanical or microprocessor based controls. The micro-processor controller includes infrared transmitter
which enables room conditions to be maintained at a user defined set point. Modine
Cassettes are also available with Carel microprocessor controls and network cards to
allow units to be connected to a Building Management System.

Fin tube radiation heaters from Modine are designed with a variety of enclosure styles to
meet most any application or architectural style. Heating elements are copper tubes with
aluminum fins. The aluminum fins are mechanically bonded to the copper tube to provide

Modine convectors provide maximum installation flexibility for a variety of heating
applications. They come in a variety of models, allowing convectors to be partially
recessed, wall hung, and free standing. The heating elements can be used for hot
water or steam. The standard header is copper with top and bottom tappings.
Tubes are mechanically expanded into aluminum fins to form a durable bond for
maximum heat transfer.
Modine offers convectors in 24 - 64 inch lengths and 4 different heights, ranging from
18 - 32 inches depending on model. A variety of optional colors are offered. A complete

impressive list of features and options.

The Valedictorian has heavy-duty construction with 14 gauge exterior panels, tamperproof cabinet locks, and pencil-proof aluminum supply air bar grills. Electrostatically
applied, baked-on polyester powder coat paint ensures a long-lasting, durable finish.
A variety of available sub-bases, utility compartments, filler sections, side end-panels,
and adapter backs allow for existing systems to easily be upgraded. Available as floor
or ceiling mounted, the Valedictorian can be utilized in any new or existing construction
condition.

MODEL VFC
Available in four sizes, the unit incorporates a draw-through design with 2, 3, or 4-row
coils for chilled water only, chilled water/hot water 2-pipe or 4-pipe installation, DX cooling
coil, and steam heating coil. Optional 1 or 2-row hot water coils are available for 4-pipe
systems and can be positioned for either preheat or reheat applications. A variety of
ventilation configurations are available that utilize fully modulating outside air and return
air dampers allowing for any mixture of outside air and return air to be drawn through
the unit.
Discharge air temperature is controlled using either a face-and-bypass damper or a
modulating control valve. An optional factory installed microcontroller is available or
the units may be configured as DDC ready or set-up for field installed controls. Piping
components can be ordered individually or configured as a pre-assembled piping
package for easy on-site installation.

Ground source heat pumps are the most commonly applied geothermal systems today. By taking the natural heating and
