TSM 6.7.7 / Video Infrastructure Release Letter
Hello TSM Users,
What’s new with this release?
Back-end infrastructure for multi-point, video conferenced events is being upgraded!
We are replacing our bridge (hardware) with a software ("cloud-based") solution. This new solution allows for improved
interoperability, video quality and increased video conferencing capacity.
New layout selections available in TSM
The ‘conference mode’ layout options available in TSM for Ncompass clinics, group clinics, clinical and non-clinical events
have been updated. Descriptions of the layout options with sample screens below are from the updated TSM “Conference
Mode” Online Help.
Layout Option with Description
Sample Screen Layout
Full Screen: Full-screen main video plus an indicator showing the number of
additional participants. Recommended for a two-person conference or when
lecture mode is selected or a PowerPoint presentation is being broadcast.
Side-by-Side (or 2 + 21): The top row contains both the main speaker and most
recent speaker, side by side. Recommended for a three-person conference, as
each person always sees the other two participants in the larger panels. A
maximum of 21 participants can appear as thumbnails at the bottom of the
screen. If there are additional participants, an indicator appears showing the
number of additional participants.
1 + 7: One large video panel plus a single row of thumbnails. A maximum of 7
participants can appear as thumbnails at the bottom of the screen. If there are
additional participants, an indicator appears showing the number of additional
participants.
1 + 21: One large video panel plus up to three rows of thumbnails. A maximum
of 21 participants can appear as thumbnails at the bottom of the screen. If
there are additional participants, an indicator appears showing the number of
additional participants.

Note – Sharing Content: If content is shared with any layout option, the content will display in the largest area of the screen.
(For 2+21 layout option, the content will display in one of the main speaker panels.)
Codec Type & Layout Option Example
Cisco Codec with Side-by-Side (or 2 + 21): When content is
shared, it displays in the largest area of the screen. The top
row is minimized and contains both the main speaker and
most recent speaker, side by side, along with thumbnails of
additional participants. For Cisco codecs, the second most
recent speaker displays at the bottom right-hand corner of
the screen.
Sample Screen Layout with Content-Sharing
Polycom HDX Codec with Side-by-Side (or 2 + 21): When
content is shared, it displays in the largest area of the
screen. The top row is minimized and contains both the
main speaker and most recent speaker, side by side, along
with thumbnails of additional participants.
When selecting layout, only one ‘conference mode’ drop-down menu exists with four layout options. There are no longer
separate layout options available to select for host and participant systems. This means the host and participants will all have
the same view during the event.
Note – Lecture Mode: If lecture mode is also selected, this results in participants always seeing the host while the host
retains the view selected when the event was scheduled in TSM (e.g. 1+7).
Text has been added under the ‘lecture mode’ checkbox in TSM: “In lecture mode, the participant(s) see the host, and the
host sees the participant(s). If the host disconnects prior to the event’s scheduled end time, participants will see each
other until the host rejoins the event.”
Note – Events Already Scheduled: Events in a ‘scheduled’ state that are set to occur after the release are being mapped to
the new layout option that best corresponds with the host / consultant system layout previously selected in TSM. Users can

still change the conference mode layout option before the event has started. Best practice indicates to have your event in a
“scheduled” state at least 15 minutes before the event’s start time.

Layout changes: Layouts can no longer be easily changed when video conferenced events are in progress. Users can
still change their layout selection by editing the event in TSM before the event’s start time. Best practice indicates to
have your event in a “scheduled” state at least 15 minutes before the event’s start time.
Two-minute warning before event ends: The audible two-minute warning before an event is about to end will no
longer occur during multi-point events. Users should be mindful of their event’s end time.
