1. Getting Started
1.1. First Time using RS-CMS
1.1.1.
Start using the RS-CMS server
1. Open the Google Chrome web browser with your desktop or laptop. Chrome incognito windows
mode is highly recommended.
2. Enter the IP address of the RS-CMS at browser address bar, for example cms.rapidsignage.com Then
login window of the RS-CMS Server will be displayed after 15 seconds.
3. Login with the account and password.
4. Once you are logged in as an administrator, you will see the RS-CMS user interface.

Typical Setup Procedure
Step 1 Create Organization: Click Organization Management on the RS-CMS user interface and charge
point to Organiation. FOR more information, refer to 6. Organization Management.
Step 2 Register the player to RS-CMS server: FOR more information, refer to 6.1.4 Register a Player.
Step 3 Charge point to player: FOR more information, refer to 5. Player Management
Step 4 Screen mode setting: Click Screen config on the RS-CMS user interface, then select cols, Rows,
Rotation value to setup screen mode. FOR more information, refer to 2. Screen configure.
Step 5 Start Design: Click New Design. Design the uploads and page Design of videos, pictures, advertising,
and other media materials to be displayed. FOR more information, refer to 3. Design.
Step 6 Creating a Plan: Click New Plan. user can set up Plan to play hours, daily, weekly, or monthly on the
player. FOR more information, refer to 4. Plan.
Step 7: Publish Plan: Click Publish. Publish the Plan and new program to the assigned player or Group. FOR
more information, refer to 7. Publish.
Step 8: Finish.
1.2. RS-CMS User Interface Overview

Language setting:
The RS-CMS supports multiple languages, including:


Traditional Chinese

Simplified Chinese

Japanese

Click Language and the selection list appears. This user interface will switch to selected language.

New Design: Design the uploads and page Design of videos, pictures, advertising, and other
media materials to be displayed.

Load Design: Loading and modify existing Design.

Screen Config: Setting of the player’s display matrix, resolution, rotation, and bezel
compensation.

New Plan: Arrange the schedule of the Designs.

Load Plan: Load an existing Plan.

Export Plan: Export a Plan for manual update.

Player Management: A player list shows the player status and information.

Organization Management: Manage the organization tree and the setting of each
organization.

Points Logs: User can see the details of the Point transaction.

Publish: Publish a Plan to the assigned player(s) or Group(s).

Publish Task/Status: Check the status of the publish tasks, user can cancel a task from here.

Overview: Shows the information of RS-CMS, including the version and the
system status.
For more information, please refer to 8. RS-CMS Management.

Logout: Click Management at the right top of Main page of RS-CMS, then
select to exit RS-CMS.

Click Resolution then set resolution of the Canvas. (Too high resolution will

decrease the performance of system. Please set proper resolution according
to the performance of your hardware system.)
Selections include:
4096 x 2160, 3840 x 2160, 3200 x 1800, 2560 x 1920, 2560 x 1440, 1920 x
1080 (default), 1600 x 1200, 1600 x 800, 1440 x 1080, 1440 x 1050, 1366 x
768, 1360 x 768, 1280 x 1024, 1280 x 800, 1280 x 720, 1024 x 768, 854 x 480,
800 x 600, 720 x 480, 640 x 480

Rotation
Click Rotation then set the screen to Landscape mode or Portrait mode.

Apply
When you have completed any changes, click Apply to finish all the screen
setting.

3. Design
3.1.
New Design
With this option, user can design to the whole canvas, and use the intuitive drag and drop operation to
adding Widgets on Canvas.

To compose the Design
Step 1: Upload Files to Media list.
Step 2: Click and hold Widgets from the Widget bar or Media from the Media list, then drag and drop it to
a location on the Canvas.
Step 3: Property window will pop up for user to set the Widget, or Right click on the Widget then select
Properties to setting.
Step 4: Click Save at the top of Design page then enter the Design name and Description.
Step 5: Click Save as Design.
Right-click menu of Media objects
Right click of the Widget, then right-click menu appears. This menu provides user to
modify Widget’s Properties, assign its Playlist and Delete the Widget from the
Canvas.
Adding a Playlist
A playlist is a sequence of Widget that you choose for display in a zone. Each zone has its own playlist and
runs independently of other playlists.
To create a playlist with multiple Widget objects, follow these steps:
Step 1: Click on a Widget in the Media widget bar, and drag and drop the Widget onto the Canvas.
Step 2: then click on a Widget and drag and drop it onto the first Widget, then playlist dialog appears, click
OK.
Step 3: Right click of playlist to change duration of a Widget or change Widget order in this playlist.

Text Widget: A widget to display static text content.

How to Create image banner:
Step 1: Click and hold Image banner Widget then drag and drop it to a location on the Canvas.
Step 2: Create image window will pop up, drag image and drop it to the image area, click OK to close the
dialog.

Format string
To change the Format string, EX: (HH:mm:ss MM-dd-yyyy) or yyyy-MM-dd
HH:mm:ss (default) etc.

RSS Widget: User can display newsfeeds from external sources on the Player.

Streaming Widget: Support the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP). The Streaming widget can

receive the live streaming from IP-cam or streaming support.

Enter the source’s IP address or domain name.
Ex: 192.168.100.2
Remote path
Enter the share folder of the server.
Ex: /share
Username
Enter the username to login to folder.
if the folder access without username and password, please enter guest
and don’t need to enter the password.
Password
Enter the password to login to folder.
Sync Interval
To edit Synchronize interval time (sec).
Image duration
To define the time duration of the images.
Video duration
To define the time duration of the Video.

Live Data Widget

Refresh Interval
To edit refresh interval time (sec).
3.1.3. Application
Live Data Widget (Digital Menu board):
User can use Live Data Widget to publish or change price of products from server to players.

Remote Folder Widget (Digital menu board):
User can use Remote Folder Widget to publish images or videos from server to players.

if the folder access without username and password, please enter guest and don’t need to enter the

Step 5: Close the property window and click Save to finish Design.

Queueing Widget
User can use Queueing Widget and command tools to design your Queueing program.
Step 1: Copy the Queueing command tool file to Server (ex, C:\), and Unzip RsTcpCommand.rar.

Step 2: Link to RS-CMS and create New Design.
Step 3: Drag and drop to adding Queueing Widget on Canvas, then change properties.
Text content: NO.#VALUE1# please come to the Counter.
Step 4: Close the property window and click Save to finish Design.
Step 5: Click Save to finish Design.
Step 6: Creating a Plan and Publish Plan.
Step 7: Opening Command Prompt, then change to C:\RsTcpCommand directory.
Step 8: Enter command: RsTcpCommand 192.168.99.119 7898 "{ \"GROUP\" : \"GROUP1\", \"KEY\" :

3.2.
Load Design
To modifying existing Design please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Load Design from Main page of RS-CMS or button at the top of Design page.
Step 2: Then Designer dialog appears.
Step 3: Select existing Design file from list, then click Load Design to modify Design.
4. Plan
With Plan option is providing user to control which Designs are displayed on what days and at what times
and how often by creating a Schedule.

Timetable
To create a new Plan please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Plan from Main page of RS-CMS.
Step 2: Drag Design file from Design list and drop it onto Timetable.
Step 3: Double click the Plan of Timetable, then Plan dialog appears.
Step 4: To define the star and end date and time. You also can choose All time to play the design all day.
Step 5: Click Apply then Click Save (the button at the top of Plan page).
To assign two or more Design to a Plan please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Plan from Main page of RS-CMS.
Step 2: Drag Design file from Design list and drop it onto Timetable.
Step 3: Drag second Design file from Design list and drop it onto the first Plan.
Step 4: Double click the Plan of Timetable, then Plan dialog appears.
Step 5: To define the star and end date and time, and drag and drop the content that you can change the
content’s order in Sequence.
Step 6: Click Apply then Click Save (the button at the top of Plan page).
To delete the content of Plan please follow these steps:
Step 1: Double click the Plan of Timetable, then Plan dialog appears.
Step 2: Click
to delete the content in Sequence.
To delete the Plan please follow these steps:
Step 1: Double click the Plan of Timetable, then Plan dialog appears.
Step 2: Click Delete to delete the plan.

4.2.
Load Plan
To modifying existing plan please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Load Plan from Main page of RS-CMS or button at the top of Plan page.
Step 2: Then Plan dialog appears.
Step 3: Select existing Plan file form list, then click Load Plan to modify the schedule.
4.3.
Export Plan
With Export Plan option is provide user to export Plan file from RS-CMS to Local disk. And user can use
export file to upload to players.
To export Plan please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Export Plan from Main page of RS-CMS.
Step 2: Then Plan list dialog appears.
Step 3: Select existing Plan file from list, then click Export Plan.
Step 4: Click Cancel to exit Plan list dialog.
To import plan to player please follow these steps:
Step 1: Copy the export plan file to USB device, and Unzip rs_export.zip.
Step 2: Connect USB device to Player.
Step 3: Waiting for plan upload to player, and it will be playing schedule automatically.
Note:
The default directory by export is C:\Users\Username\Downloads.
5. Player Management
With this option, user can easy to delete Player, Change Players Organization, Charge point for the Player,
Heartbeat Interval time and viewing the information of current Players.
To change Player from one to another Organization, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Player from Player list then click Change Organization.
Step 2: Then the dialog appears, please choose
Organization from Organization list.
Step 3: Click Change the Player that is already
allocated to this Organization.
To delete player please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Clickbox which the Player you will delete. User also can
choose group from the drop-down list.
Step 2: Then Delete Player dialog appears.
Step 3: click Delete to disconnect the player form RS-CMS and exit the
dialog.
To change Heartbeat Interval time please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Heartbeat Interval Modify.
Step 2: Then the dialog appears, enter a number in the Textbox. (The default time is 10 seconds.)
Step 3: Click Modify to confirm the setting.
To charge point please follow these steps:
Step 1: Select Player the click Charge button then the
dialog appears.
Step 2: Choose Input to manual input screen number in
Charge Screens, or choose MAX to
automatically select the maximum screen
number. User can click Auto Charge Player
points that will auto charge player points every month.
Step 3: Click Apply to confirm the setting.
To Update Firmware Remotely for the player please follow these steps:
Step 1: Choose the player, click Firmware Upgrade from Command Task.
Step 2: A System Upgrade dialog box will pop up.
Step 3: Click the upload icon
, and select firmware file x.x.x.deb, it is a standard Unix archive package.
Step 4: Wait till the Upload Success dialog appears, then the Next button will turn blue.
Step 5: Click the next button to start the update process and click Apply to confirm the remote update.

6. Organization Management
6.1.
Structuring Organization
User can use this option to structuring organization for easier management and monitoring. An
Organization can be one or more levers directory structure. From this page, user can get information such
as organization name, organization level and points of organization.

6.1.1. Create HQ Org
Step 1: Click Add button to create HQ (called Org_A in this example)
For example:
(HQ) Org_A
then the dialog appears.
Step 2: Configure the organization information: Name, Description,

First Name, e-mail, Address, User also can import header logo
for this org use.
Step 3: Then click Create Organization.
6.1.2. Create Sub-Org
Step 1: Click Add button again to allocate new organization
(called Org_B in this example) to HQ organization.
Step 2: Configure the organization information and select
Org_A from organization list, then Org_B will be
allocated to HQ organization, Then click Create
Organization.
Step 3: Click Add button again to allocate new organization
(called Org_C in this example) to Org_B organization.
Step 4: Configure the organization information and select
Org_A first then select Org_B from organization list,
then Org_C will be allocated to Org_B organization.
Step 5: Click Create Organization to finish setting.
Player 1
The detail information please see the Org.Level field of Organization management page.
6.1.3. Point Transfer
To transfer Points from an organization to another organization, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Transfer Points then the dialog appears.
Step 2: Select Organization name from the From Org(*)
drop-down list and To(*) drop-down list, then enter point
number in the Points field.
Step 3: Click Apply to finish setting.
6.1.4. Register a Player
To Register a player to an Organization please follow these steps:
Step 1: Check IP address of the RS-CMS. (IP address of the RS-CMS
information please refer to 8.1 Overview.
Step 2: Check Pairing Key from Organization Management.
Step 3: Login player and go to the page of the Server information of
the Player.
Step 4: Enter IP address and Pairing Key then click Apply.
Step 5: Click Player Management from Main page of RS-CMS to make sure the Player is registered success.
Step 6: To allocate player to Organization please refer to 5. Player Management.
6.2.
Points logs
This screen lists detail of the basic Point status that Charge, Adding and Transfer actions.

7. Publish
7.1.
Start Publish
With Plan option is providing user to assigned Plan to play on Groups or Players. A plan can be published to
multiple Groups/Players.
To Publish plan to Groups/Players please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Publish from Main page of RS-CMS.
Step 2: Then Plan list appears, please choose Plan then click Choose.
Step 3: Select Group or Player Then Click Next. the Plan that is already allocated to this Group or Player.
(Click Proceed button to go to Publish Task/Status page directly.)
7.2.
Publish Task/Status
Click Publish Task/status to access information about the plan status. The page provides details about what
the Plan is currently playing and plans schedule. User also can Click Cancel to interrupt already published
plan on the player.
8. RS-CMS Management
8.1.
Overview
The page provides details of the environmental performance of your RS-CMS server.
The display contains the following information

View the Server name and version.
CPU/RAM Status
View the current CPU loading and the current memory size status.
Network
View current Network setting, including: IP address, MAC address…. etc.
Storage
View the storage capacity and The % of total storage used by the server.
8.2.
User Config
With this option allows you to Create, Edit, and Delete users account, and assign user permissions at the
user.
To creating an RS-CMS user account, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Click Create a User, User information dialog appears.
Step 2: Enter a username and a password, then select the permissions the user needs.
(Each user in the account can be given different permissions, just check the relevant box in the
bottom of the page.
Permissions objects have: Designer, Planner, Publish, Org.Management.)
Step 3: Click Create to finish setting.
User also can click Edit to change the user’s Password and permissions, or click Delete to remove user
account from RS-CMS.
