2 Objectives, field of application and conditions for use

The COMPACT AIR powered respirator is used to remove resistance to inhalation during respiration - as is usually encountered with filter masks - by producing an uninterrupted air flow. The

COMPACT AIR unit is designed with manufacturer’s minimum design flow rate 150 litres per minute

(the flow rate at which the equipment still will fulfil the requirements of the class in EN 12941. The actual flow rate during the full 10 hours working time for which it has been designed will be higher than this minimum depending on the actual filters and face pieces used. Table 2 shows initial flow rates found for different combinations. The apparatus can be used only in combination with the listed airhoods or mask and in combination with COMPACT AIR filters.

3 Description

A complete COMPACT AIR powered respirator apparatus consists of a:

•

Blower unit, with 3 threaded sockets for filter canisters as per EN148-1, supplied with a belt, a hose with a bayonet connector for air hoods and thread connector for respirators and a flow meter.

•

Rechargeable battery with built-in poly switch. In case of a short circuit the poly switch automatically interrupts the power supply and therefore prevents the battery form getting damaged. After removing the short circuit the poly switch will automatically reconnect the battery to the power supply for recharging. As this poly switch is embedded into the battery circuitry it cannot be replaced.

•

Universal battery charger, fully automatic.

•

Flow meter, indicates the 150 l/min borderline.

•

The complete set is supplied in a plastic carrying case with foam lining.

4 Use

The COMPACT AIR blower unit supplies an over capacity of clean and filtered ambient air which is fed to an airhood or mask, and allows the user to breathe in air without himself having to overcome the resistance of the filters. Considering that an adult person requires some 50 litres of air per minute, the over capacity ensures a slight over pressure and thus a high degree of protection. With a fully charged battery the COMPACT AIR can supply for at least 6.5 hours the minimum design flow rate.

This device does not contain a warning facility to warn the user, during the use, against reduced air supply. This must be taken into account when selecting a protective device for the actual conditions at the workplace.

4.1

Prior to use

Before using the COMPACT AIR powered respirator the user must ensure that all the conditions for safe use have been satisfied.

•

Check that the appropriate hose nipple, thread or bayonet, is fitted to the hose.

•

Check before use that the battery is sufficiently charged (see chapter 4.2 "The universal charger

(Fig. 21)") and that the free flow of air is not obstructed by blocked filters or other causes.

•

Check that the plug connection is secured by checking the tightness of the locking ring.

•

Check that the correct filter type of canisters have been fitted (see chapter 4.1.3. Table 1 „Combi-

nation matrix COMPACT AIR filters in combination with air hoods“).

•

Check that the COMPACT AIR is working properly by means of the flow meter supplied. This is done by inserting the flow meter in a vertical position into the end of the hose and switching on the apparatus to which the filters to be used have already been fitted. The ball in the flow meter must at least reach the minimum level (150 litres per minute).

•

Ensure that the filter canisters are correctly engaged in the threaded sockets of the blower unit and that the seals have been fitted.

•

Look for table 1 which combinations are allowed.

4.1.1 Usage limitations system

•

The space in which the COMPACT AIR is to be used must contain at least 17 % oxygen and must not contain any explosive gases or vapours. In enclosed spaces where there is a risk of oxygen deficiency, use of the COMPACT AIR should be avoided.

•

Upon extreme human effort, it is possible that a temporary negative pressure occurs in the air hood, resulting in a reduction of the protection factor of the system.

•

Air speeds in excess of 2 m/s can affect the protection factor.

•

The ambient usage temperature should be between the limits of -10°C and +50°C.

Warning: If the wearer of the respirator feels dizzy or uncomfortable or can smell/taste something, he should abandon immediately the contaminated area.

4.1.2 Filtercanisters type COMPACT AIR

Read the enclosed instructions before connecting the filter canisters.

Different types of COMPACT AIR type filter canisters must be used according to the nature of the particular hazardous substances to be encountered, refer to the separately available COMPACT

AIR combination matrix (table 1).

4.1.3 Usage limitations filters

•

Always fit 3 identical filter canisters, to ensure an evenly distributed air flow. A different or older type of gas filter canister will be exhausted sooner and so render the filtering action of the COM-

PACT AIR totally ineffective.

•

Do not use the COMPACT AIR in circumstances where hazardous gases and/or vapours are present which cannot be detected by taste or smell and which are an immediate danger for health or life.

•

The carbon filling of gas filter canisters is sensitive to the effects of moisture. In the case of aerosols or droplets occurring, the use of a combination filter canister is to be recommended.

•

Used filter canisters cannot be cleaned.

•

Always replace filter canisters simultaneously by new ones.

The values stated in table 2 are the mean values of 10 tests per filter combination. For example 10 times 3 A filter canisters measured on an operational blower unit.

Testing according EN 146 and EN 12941 means that no classification is given for the particle filters

(P3 according EN143) therefore they are named P filters.

4.2

The universal charger (Fig. 21)

4.2.1 Important notes on the use of the supplied universal charger

•

The supplied universal charger is for indoor use only and should be stored in a dry place!

•

To avoid electrical shock, never use the charger in a humid environment!

•

To avoid explosion and fire hazard, never charge batteries in a potentially explosive atmosphere!

•

The micro-controller inside the charger prevents damage to the batteries when the charging time is exceeded.

•

The charger will then automatically switch to trickle charge.

•

A defective charger can not be repaired but has to be replaced by a new one.

4.2.2 Indicators on the charger

Green indicator (1)

Lights continuously:

Flashing for approx. 10 seconds:

4.2.3 Charging batteries (with the supplied universal charger)

Important notes:

After the battery is completely charged the charger will switch over to trickle charging. Always have a fully charged spare battery at hand when working with a power assisted filtering device. New batteries are always supplied in an uncharged state.

Recharge fully discharged batteries only! This will assure that the battery can be charged and discharged up to approximately 500 times under normal circumstances.

It will take approximately 6-10 hours to charge a new or fully discharged battery.

•

Choose the required country specific mains adapter.

•

Press the button to release the country specific mains adapter (if applicable).

•

Attach the mains adapter specific for your country until it clicks into place.

•

Connect the charger to the mains power supply (100-240V AC).

•

Connect the battery pack to the charger. The red indicator will light red to indicate that the battery is being charged.

•

If the indicator is flashing, there is a problem with the battery pack. Solve the problem accordingly.

4.2.4 Discharging batteries

Important notes

If partly discharged batteries are repeatedly charged, their life cycle will be considerably shortened.

To prevent this, discharge the battery once every two months.

•

Place the battery in the charger and press the yellow button (3) for about two seconds to start discharging the battery pack.

After the battery is fully discharged the battery will be automatically recharged.

4.3

During use

If during use the air supply suddenly drops or fails entirely, leave the work area immediately.

Warning

If the wearer of the respirator feels dizzy or uncomfortable or can smell/taste something, he should abandon immediately the contaminated area.

4.4

After use

Remove the filters and disconnect airhood - blower unit. Seal the filters with the earlier removed plugs.

4.5

Cleaning and disinfecting

After each session clean the COMPACT AIR, using a mixture of water and a mild detergent.

Subsequently, rinse thoroughly with clean water. (Do not use any solvents). During cleaning ensure that no water is allowed to enter the blower unit. The apparatus must not be immersed in fluid. Dry the COMPACT AIR with a cloth and/or leave it to dry in the open air.

Advice

For reasons of hygiene, the air hood or the mask should preferably be used by the same person.

5 Maintenance and inspection

As a result of intensive use and natural ageing, the condition of the sealing rings between filter canister and blower unit socket can deteriorate. When in doubt, replace the sealing rings. Check the hose for leakage and inspect the connector and thread for damage.

6 Storage

Before storing the COMPACT AIR in the carrying case, it should be thoroughly dry. Do not keep soiled filter canisters together with the COMPACT AIR and the air hood or mask in the same enclosed storage space. Remove the filters from the COMPACT AIR and seal them with the earlier removed plugs.

2 Gebruiksdoel en toepassingsgebied

De COMPACT AIR aanblaasfilterinstallatie wordt gebruikt om de ademweerstand - zoals aanwezig bij filtermaskers - door een ononderbroken luchtstroom op te heffen. De COMPACT AIR eenheid is ontworpen met een fabrikanten minimum design luchtstroom snelheid van 150 liter per minuut (de luchtstroomsnelheid waarbij de apparatuur nog steeds aan de vereiste klasse EN 12941 voldoet.

De feitelijke luchtstroomsnelheid gedurende de 10 uur werktijd, waarvoor deze is ontworpen, zal hoger zijn dan dit minimum, afhangende van de filters en de te gebruiken luchtkappen.

Tabel 2 laat luchtstroomsnelheden zien, die zijn gevonden voor verschillende combinaties. Het apparaat mag alleen in combinatie met de in deze tabel aangegeven luchtkappen worden gebruikt en in combinatie met COMPACT AIR filters.

COMPACT AIR 14 V1.3 (2007 - 03 - 14)

3 Omschrijving

Een complete COMPACT AIR aanblaasfilterinstallatie bestaat uit een:

•

Ventilator, met 3 aansluitingen voor filterbussen volgens EN148-1, compleet met riem, slang met bajonet aansluiting voor luchtkappen en een doorstroommeter.

•

Oplaadbare batterij met ingebouwde poly-schakelaar. In geval van een kortsluiting zal de polyschakelaar de stroomvoorziening automatisch onderbreken en daarmede voorkomen dat de batterij beschadigd wordt. Na het verhelpen van de kortsluiting zal de poly-schakelaar de stroomvoorziening weer naar de batterij doorschakelen om deze op te laden. Omdat de polyschakelaar in de batterij geïntegreerd is kan de poly-schakelaar niet worden vervangen

•

Oplader, volledig automatisch.

•

Doorstroommeter, welke de 150l/min grens aangeeft.

•

De complete set wordt in een kunststof koffer met inlage geleverd.

4 Gebruik

De COMPACT AIR aanblaasfilterinstallatie biedt een overcapaciteit aan schone en gefilterde omgevingslucht die wordt toegevoerd naar een luchtkap of masker, waarbij de drager de lucht kan inademen zonder dat deze zelf de lucht door de filters hoeft aan te zuigen. Gezien het feit dat een volwassen persoon circa 50 liter lucht per minuut nodig heeft, zorgt de overcapaciteit voor een lichte overdruk resp. een hoge beschermingsgraad. Met een volledig opgeladen batterij kan de

COMPACT AIR een minimale luchtstroomsnelheid van 150 l./min voor tenminste 6,5 uren leveren.

Dit apparaat bevat geen waarschuwingssysteem, om de drager gedurende het gebruik voor een gereduceerde luchttoevoer te waarschuwen. Hier dient rekening mee te worden gehouden wanneer er een apparaat voor de specifieke werkomgeving wordt uitgezocht.

4.1

Vóór gebruik

Alvorens de gebruiker de COMPACT AIR aanblaasfilterinstallatie inzet dient deze na te gaan of aan alle voorwaarden van een veilig gebruik is voldaan.

•

Controleer of de juiste slang aansluiting, roldraad of bajonet, aan de slang is bevestigd.

•

Controleer vóór het gebruik of de batterij voldoende is opgeladen (zie hoofdstuk 4.2 "Universele oplader (zie Fig. 21)") en of de luchtdoorstroom niet geblokkeerd is door verstopte filters of andere oorzaken.

•

Controleer of de stekerverbinding is geborgd door het aandraaien van de borgring.

•

Controleer of de juiste filterbussen zijn gemonteerd (zie hoofdstuk 4.1.3. Tabel 1”Combinatie matrix: COMPACT AIR filters in combinatie met luchtkappen”).

•

Controleer de goede werking van de COMPACT AIR door middel van de meegeleverde doorstroommeter. Plaats hiertoe de doorstroommeter verticaal op het einde van de slang en schakel het apparaat aan waarin de te gebruiken filters zijn geschroefd. De kogel in de doorstroommeter moet minstens het minimumniveau (150 liter per minuut) bereiken.

•

Zie er op toe dat de filterbussen recht in de roldraadaansluiting van het ventilatorhuis worden gedraaid, en dat de afdichtsringen aanwezig zijn.

•

Kijk in tabel 1 welke combinaties zijn toegestaan.

4.1.1 Gebruiksbeperkingen systeem

•

De ruimte waarin met de COMPACT AIR gewerkt wordt dient tenminste 17% zuurstof te bevatten en daarin mogen zich geen explosiegevaarlijke gassen of dampen bevinden. In gesloten ruimten waar mogelijk zuurstofgebrek kan ontstaan dient het gebruik van de COMPACT AIR te worden vermeden.

•

Door extreme inspanningen, is het mogelijk dat er een tijdelijke negatieve druk in de luchtkap ontstaat, met een vermindering van de protectiefactor van het systeem.

V1.3 (2007 - 03 - 14) 15 COMPACT AIR

•

Luchtsnelheden groter dan 2m/sec. kunnen de beschermingsfactor beïnvloeden.

•

De gebruikstemperatuur moet tussen de -10°C en +50°C liggen.

Waarschuwing

Als de gebruiker van de aanblaasfilterinstallatie zich duizelig of niet comfortabel voelt of iets kan ruiken/proeven, dan moet deze onmiddellijk de besmette omgeving verlaten.

4.1.2 Filterbussen type COMPACT AIR

Lees de bijgesloten gebruikshandleiding vóór het aansluiten van de filterbussen.

Al naar gelang de aard van de schadelijke stoffen kunnen diverse soorten filterbussen worden toegepast, zie separaat te verkrijgen COMPACT AIR filtertabel (tabel 1).

4.1.3 Gebruiksbeperkingen filters

•

Monteer altijd 3 identieke gasfilterbussen zo dat de luchtstroom gelijk verdeeld wordt. Een ander type of oudere gasfilterbus kan n.l. eerder „doorslaan“ en zo de totale filterwerking van de COM-

PACT AIR teniet doen.

•

Gebruik de COMPACT AIR niet in die gevallen waarin sprake is van schadelijke gassen en/of dampen die niet door proeven of ruiken zijn waar te nemen en die direct de gezondheid of het leven bedreigen.

•

De koolvulling van gasfilterbussen is gevoelig voor vochtinwerking. Indien gassen in combinatie met damp voorkomen, verdient het aanbeveling een combinatiefilterbus toe te passen.

•

Gebruikte filterbussen kunnen niet worden gereinigd.

•

Vervang de filterbussen altijd gelijktijdig door nieuwe exemplaren.

De waarden in tabel 2 zijn de gemiddelde waarden van 10 testen per filtercombinatie. Bijvoorbeeld

10 maal 3 A filterbussen, gemeten op een in werking zijnde filterinstallatie.

Getest volgens EN 12941 betekent dat er geen classificatie wordt gegeven aan de stoffilterbussen

(P3 volgens EN143). Daarom worden deze P filters genoemd.

4.2

Universele oplader (zie Fig. 21)

4.2.1 Belangrijke opmerkingen met betrekking tot het gebruik van de universele oplader

•

De bijgevoegde universele oplader is enkel bedoeld voor gebruik binnenhuis en dient droog bewaard worden!

•

Gebruik de oplader nooit in een vochtige omgeving, dit om elektrische stroomstoten te voorkomen!

•

Laad de batterijen nooit in een explosiegevaarlijke omgeving, dit om explosie en brandgevaar te voorkomen!

•

De in de universele oplader geïntegreerde microprocessor voorkomt bij het overschrijden van de oplaadtijd dat de batterijen beschadigd worden.

•

De oplader zal dan automatisch overschakelen op compensatielading.

•

Een defecte oplader kan niet gerepareerd worden en moet vervangen worden door een nieuwe.

4.2.2 LEDs op de oplader

Groene LED (1):

4.2.3 Opladen van batterijen (met de bijgeleverde universele oplader)

Belangrijke opmerkingen:

Nadat de batterij in zijn geheel is opgeladen, zal de oplader overschakelen op compensatielading.

Het is aan te bevelen altijd een extra batterij beschikbaar te hebben, indien met een aanblaasfilterinstallatie gewerkt wordt. Nieuwe batterijen worden altijd in ongeladen toestand geleverd.

Laad enkel volledig ontladen batterijen op! Hetgeen garandeerd dat de batterij onder normale omstandigheden tot ca. 500 keer kan worden ont- en opgeladen.

De oplaadtijd van een nieuwe of geheel ontladen batterij bedraagt 6 -10 uur.

•

Kies de in uw land benodigde netadapter.

•

Druk de knop in pijlrichting om de netadapter te verwijderen (indien van toepassing).

•

Plaats de in uw land benodigde netadapter op de aansluitpennen tot deze in de houder vastklikt.

•

Sluit de oplader aan op een stopcontact (100-240V wisselspanning).

•

Sluit de batterij aan op de oplader. De rode LED zal continu oplichten om aan te geven dat de batterij opgeladen wordt.

•

Indien de LED knippert, duit dit op een probleem met de batterij. Los het probleem op.

4.2.4 Ontladen van de batterijen

Belangrijke opmerkingen:

De levenscyclus van batterijen wordt aanzienlijk verkort indien niet volledig ontladen batterijen opgeladen worden. Ontlaad de batterij eens in de twee maanden om dit te voorkomen.

•

Sluit de batterij aan op de oplader en druk ca. twee seconden op de gele toets (3) om het ontladen van de batterij te starten.

De batterij wordt automatisch opgeladen natdat de batterij volledig ontladen is.

4.3

Tijdens gebruik

Als tijdens het gebruik de luchttoevoer plotseling daalt of volledig wegvalt, verlaat dan onmiddellijk het werkterrein.

Waarschuwing

Als de gebruiker van de aanblaasfilterinstallatie zich duizelig of niet comfortabel voelt of iets kan ruiken/proeven, dan moet deze onmiddellijk de besmette omgeving verlaten.

4.4

Na gebruik

Verwijder de filters en ontkoppel de luchtkap– aanblaasfilterinstallatie. Sluit de filters af met de reeds eerder verwijderde stop.

4.5

Reiniging en desinfectie

Na elk gebruik de COMPACT AIR reinigen met een mengsel van water en een mild schoonmaakmiddel. Vervolgens goed naspoelen met schoon water. (Gebruik geen oplosmiddelen). Tijdens het reinigen mag er geen water in de filterinstallatie binnendringen. Het apparaat mag niet worden ondergedompeld in water. Droog de COMPACT AIR met een doek en/of laat deze drogen in de open lucht.

Advies

Vanwege hygiënische redenen is het aan te raden om de luchtkap of het masker door één en dezelfde persoon te laten dragen.

5 Onderhoud en controle

Door intensief gebruik en natuurlijke veroudering zal de conditie van de afdichtringen tussen de filter en blaasinstallatie bus verslechteren. Bij twijfel, de afdichtringen vervangen. Controleer de slang op lekkages en inspecteer het aansluitstuk en de roldraadaansluiting op beschadigingen.

6 Opslag

Voor opslag in de opbergkoffer dient de COMPACT AIR droog te zijn. Bewaar vervuilde filterbussen niet tezamen met de COMPACT AIR en luchtkap in dezelfde afgesloten opbergruimte. Verwijder de filters van de COMPACT AIR en dicht ze af met de al eerder verwijderde stoppen.

7 Storingen

De ventilator levert geen lucht:

14 Garantie

North Safety Products Europe B.V. zal dit produkt kosteloos herstellen c.q. vervangen indien bij normaal gebruik volgens de gebruikshandleiding binnen 12 maanden na de aankoopdatum fabricage en/of materiaalfouten optreden. De garantie vervalt indien het type- of serienummer is veranderd, verwijderd of onleesbaar is gemaakt.

2 Anwendungsgebiet und Gebrauchsbedingungen

Das Gebläsefiltergerät COMPACT AIR wird verwendet, um den Atmungswiderstand beim Einatmen - wie man ihn normalerweise bei Filtermasken vorfindet - zu beseitigen, indem ein ununterbrochener Luftstrom erzeugt wird. Das Gebläsefiltergerät COMPACT AIR wurde mit einer minimalen

Durchflussrate von 150 Litern pro Minute entwickelt (Durchflussrate, bei der die Ausrüstung noch den Anforderungen der Klasse EN 12941 entspricht. Die tatsächliche Durchflussrate während der vollen 10 Stunden Betriebszeit, für die sie entwickelt wurde, liegt höher als der Minimalwert, ist jedoch abhängig von den tatsächlich verwendeten Filtern und Atemschutzmasken.

Tabelle 2 zeigt die minimale Durchflussrate für verschiedene Kombinationen. Das Gerät darf nur in

Kombination mit den Schutzhauben, die aufgeführt sind, sowie nur in Kombination mit COMPACT

AIR Filtern verwendet werden.

COMPACT AIR 24 V1.3 (2007 - 03 - 14)

3 Beschreibung

Ein komplettes COMPACT AIR Gebläsefiltergerät besteht aus einer:

•

Gebläseeinheit, mit 3 Gewindeanschlüssen für Filterkartuschen nach EN148-1, geliefert mit einem Gurt, einem Schlauch mit Bajonettanschluss für Atemschutzhauben und mit Gewindeanschluss für Atemschutzmasken und einem Durchflussmessgerät.

•

Wiederaufladbare Batterie mit eingebautem Poly-Schalter. Wenn ein Kurzschluss auftritt unterbricht der Poly-Schalter die Stromversorgungung verhindert, dass die Batterie beschädigt wird.

Nach Beseitigung derStörungsursache wird die Batterie wieder mit der Stromversorgung verbunden. Da der Poly-Schalter in der Batterie integriert ist, kann dieser nicht ausgetauscht werden.

•

Universal Batterieladegerät, vollautomatisch.

•

Durchflussmessgerät, zeigt die 150 l/min-Grenze an.

•

Das Gebläsefiltergerät wird in einem Kunststoffkoffer mit Schaumstoffauskleidung geliefert.

4 Gebrauch

Das COMPACT AIR Gebläsefiltergerät liefert eine Überkapazität an reiner und gefilterter Umgebungsluft, die einer Schutzhaube oder Maske zugeführt wird und dem Träger erlaubt, Luft einzuatmen, ohne selbst den Widerstand eines Filters überwinden zu müssen. In Anbetracht der Tatsache, dass ein erwachsener Mensch ca. 50 Liter Luft pro Minute benötigt, sichert die Überkapazität einen leichten Überdruck und somit einen hohen Grad an Schutz.

Mit einer voll aufgeladenen Batterie kann der COMPACT AIR die minimal geforderte Durchflussrate für mindestens 6,5 Stunden liefern. Dieses Gerät verfügt nicht über ein Warnsystem, den Träger während der Benutzung vor einer reduzierten Luftzufuhr zu warnen. Dies muss bei der Wahl eines

Schutzgerätes für die tatsächlichen Bedingungen am Arbeitsplatz berücksichtigt werden.

4.1

Vor dem Gebrauch

Vor der Verwendung des Gebläsefiltergeräts COMPACT AIR muss sich der Anwender vergewissern, ob alle Bedingungen für eine sichere Benutzung erfüllt sind.

•

Kontrollieren Sie, ob der korrekte Schlauchanschluss, Bajonett oder Gewinde, am Schlauch befestigt ist.

•

Überprüfen Sie vor dem Gebrauch, ob die Batterie ausreichend geladen (siehe Kapitel 4.2 "Das

Universalladegerät (Fig. 21)") und der Luftstrom nicht durch verstopfte Filter oder aus anderen

Gründen blockiert wird.

•

Überprüfen Sie, ob der Schraubanschluss gesichert ist, indem Sie den festen Sitz des Schraubrings überprüfen.

•

Überprüfen Sie, ob die richtige Filterkartusche eingesetzt ist (siehe „Kombinationstabelle COM-

PACT AIR Filter und mit Schutzhauben“ unter 4.1.3).

•

Mit Hilfe des zugehörigen Durchflussmessgerätes überprüfen, ob das Gebläsefiltergerät COM-

PACT AIR korrekt funktioniert. Dies geschieht, indem Sie das Durchflussmessgerät in einer vertikalen Position in das Ende des Schlauches einsetzen und das Gerät einschalten, an das die zu verwendenden Filter bereits angeschlossen sind. Der Ball im Durchflussmessgerät muss mindestens das Minimalniveau (150 Liter pro Minute) erreichen.

•

Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Filterkartuschen korrekt mit den Gewindeanschlüssen der Gebläseeinheit verschraubt und die Dichtungen eingesetzt sind.

•

Schlagen Sie in Tabelle 1 die zulässigen Kombinationen nach.

4.1.1 Gebrauchsbeschränkungen des Systems

•

Die Umgebung, in der COMPACT AIR verwendet werden kann, muss mindestens 17% Sauerstoff und darf keine explosiven Gase oder Dämpfe enthalten. In geschlossenen Räumen, in denen die Gefahr einer Unterversorgung mit Sauerstoff besteht, sollte die Benutzung des

COMPACT AIR vermieden werden.

•

Bei extremer körperlicher Anstrengung ist es möglich, dass in der Schutzhaube zeitweilig ein

Unterdruck auftritt, der zu einer Reduzierung des Systemschutzfaktors führt.

•

Luftgeschwindigkeiten über 2 m/s können den Schutzfaktor beeinflussen.

•

Die Gebrauchstemperatur sollte zwischen -10°C und +50°C liegen.

Warnung: Wenn dem Träger des Gebläsefiltergeräts schwindelig oder schlecht wird oder er etwas riechen/schmecken kann, sollte er den kontaminierten Bereich umgehend verlassen.

4.1.2 Filterkartuschen Typ COMPACT AIR

Lesen Sie die beigefügten Anweisungen vor dem Anschluss der Filterkartusche.

Die verschiedenen Typen der Filterkartuschen des Typs COMPACT AIR müssen entsprechend den Eigenschaften der speziellen gefährlichen Stoffe, mit denen in Kontakt getreten wird, gehandhabt werden, siehe separat erhältliche COMPACT AIR Filterübersicht (Tabelle 1).

4.1.3 Gebrauchsbeschränkungen Filter

•

Schließen Sie immer drei identische Gasfilterkartuschen an, um einen gleichmäßig verteilten

Luftstrom zu gewährleisten. Ein anderer oder älterer Typ einer Gasfilterkartusche ist schneller verbraucht und macht somit die Filterleistung des COMPACT AIR vollkommen unwirksam.

•

Verwenden Sie den COMPACT AIR nicht in Umgebungen, in denen gefährliche Gase und/oder

Dämpfe vorhanden sind, die nicht zu riechen oder schmecken sind, und die eine unmittelbare

Gefahr für die Gesundheit und das Leben darstellen.

•

Die Aktivkohlefüllung der Gasfilterkartuschen ist feuchtigkeitsempfindlich. Für den Fall, dass Aerosole oder Sprühnebel vorhanden sind, wird die Verwendung einer Kombinationsfilterkartusche empfohlen.

•

Gebrauchte Filterkartuschen können nicht gereinigt werden.

•

Ersetzen Sie die Filterkartuschen immer alle zusammen durch neue.

Die in Tabelle 2 angegebenen Werte sind die Durchschnittswerte aus 10 Tests pro Filterkombination. Zum Beispiel 10 Mal 3 A Filterkartuschen gemessen bei einem in Betrieb befindlichen Gebläsefiltergerät.

Test nach EN 146 und EN 12941 bedeutet, dass den Partikelfiltern keine Klassifizierungen (P3 nach EN 143) zugewiesen wurde und sie deshalb P-Filter genannt werden.

4.2

Das Universalladegerät (Fig. 21)

4.2.1 Wichtige Hinweise zur Verwendung des mitgelieferten Universalladegeräts

•

Das mitgelieferte Universalladegerät ist ausschließlich für den Gebrauch in geschlossenen Räumen geeignet und sollte an einem trockenen Ort aufbewahrt werden!

•

Zur Vermeidung eines elektrischen Schlags das Ladegerät niemals in einer feuchten Umgebung verwenden!

•

Zur Vermeidung von Explosions- und Feuergefahr die Batterien niemals in möglicherweise explosiver Umgebung austauschen!

•

Der Mikrocontroller im Ladegerät verhindert eine Beschädigung der Batterien bei Überschreitung der Ladezeit.

•

Das Ladegerät schaltet automatisch auf Erhaltungsladung um.

•

Ein defektes Ladegerät kann nicht repariert werden und muss durch ein neues ersetzt werden.

4.2.2 Kontrollleuchten auf dem Ladegerät

Grüne Kontrollleuchte (1)

Leuchtet dauerhaft:

•

Batteriesatz vollständig geladen.

Rote Kontrollleuchte (2)

Blinkt dauerhaft:

•

Batteriesatz defekt.

•

Polung nicht korrekt.

•

Batterieentladefunktion ist aktiviert.

Blinkt ca. 10 Sekunden lang:

Zeigt während des Tests an, dass der Batteriepack korrekt angeschlossen ist.

Leuchtet dauerhaft:

•

Batterie wird aufgeladen.

4.2.3 Aufladen der Batterien (mit dem beiliegenden Universalladegerät)

Wichtige Hinweise: Nach dem vollständigen Laden der Batterie schaltet das Ladegerät auf Erhaltungsladung um. Beim Arbeiten mit einem gebläseunterstützten Filtergerät stets einen vollständig aufgeladenen Ersatzbatteriesatz bereithalten. Neue Batterien werden immer im ungeladenen Zustand ausgeliefert.

Ausschließlich vollständig entladene Batterien wieder aufladen! Dies stellt sicher, dass die Batterie unter normalen Umständen ca. 500 Mal Auf- und Entladezyklen hält.

Das Aufladen einer neuen oder vollständig entladenen Batterie dauert ca. 6-10 Stunden.

•

Verwenden Sie den benötigten landesspezifischen Netzadapter.

•

Drücken Sie den Knopf, um den landesspezifischen Netzadapter zu entfernen (falls nötig).

•

Drücken Sie den Netzadapter für Ihr Land in das Ladegerät bis er hörbar einrastet.

•

Schließen Sie das Ladegerät an eine Steckdose an (100-240V AC).

•

Schließen Sie den Batteriepack an das Ladegerät an. Die rote Kontrollleuchte leuchtet auf, um das Laden der Batterie anzuzeigen.

•

Wenn die Kontrollleuchte blinkt, gibt es ein Problem mit dem Batteriepack. Beheben Sie das

Problem entsprechend.

4.2.4 Entladen der Batterien

Wichtige Hinweise: Wenn teilentladene Batterien wiederholt geladen werden, verkürzt sich ihre

Lebensdauer erheblich. Um dies zu verhindern empfiehlt es sich, die Battieren alle zwei Monate zu entladen.

•

Legen Sie die Batterien in das Ladegerät und drücken ca. zwei Sekunden lang die gelbe Taste

(3), um das Entladen des Batteriepacks zu beginnen.

Nach dem vollständigen Entladen der Batterien werden diese automatisch wieder aufgeladen.

4.3

Während des Gebrauchs

Falls während des Gebrauchs die Versorgung plötzlich abfällt oder vollständig versagt, ist der Arbeitsbereich umgehend zu verlassen.

Warnung: Wenn dem Träger des Gebläsefiltergeräts schwindelig oder schlecht wird oder er etwas riechen/schmecken kann, sollte er den kontaminierten Bereich umgehend verlassen.

4.4

Nach dem Gebrauch

Entfernen Sie die Filter und trennen Schutzhaube - Gebläseeinheit. Verschließen Sie die Filter mit den vorher entfernten Verschlussstücken.

4.5

Reinigung und Desinfektion

Reinigen Sie den COMPACT AIR nach jedem Arbeitsgang unter Verwendung von Wasser und einem milden Reinigungsmittel. Waschen Sie das Gerät anschließend mit klarem Wasser ab. (Verwenden Sie keine Lösungsmittel). Stellen Sie sicher, dass während der Reinigung kein Wasser in die Gebläseeinheit eindringen kann. Das Gerät darf nicht in Flüssigkeiten getaucht werden. Trocknen Sie den COMPACT AIR mit einem Tuch und/oder lassen Sie ihn an der Luft trocknen.

Hinweis: Aus Hygienegründen sollte die Schutzhaube oder Schutzmaske vorzugsweise immer von derselben Person verwendet werden.

5 Wartung und Inspektion

Als Folge intensiver Benutzung und natürlicher Alterung kann sich der Zustand der Dichtungsringe zwischen Filterkartusche und Schraubsockel der Gebläseeinheit verschlechtern. Ersetzen Sie die

Dichtungsringe im Zweifelsfall. Überprüfen Sie den Schlauch auf Lecks und den Gewindeanschluss, sowie das Kabel auf Beschädigungen.

6 Lagerung

Vor der Verstauung des COMPACT AIR im Tragekoffer sollte er völlig trocken sein. Lagern Sie keine verschmutzten Filterkartuschen zusammen mit dem COMPACT AIR und der Schutzhaube im selben geschlossenen Lagerraum. Entfernen Sie die Filter vom COMPACT AIR und verschließen diese mit den zuvor entfernten Verschlussstücken.

2 Domaine d’application et conditions d’utilisation

L’aérateur COMPACT AIR sert à supprimer la résistance à l’inhalation pendant la respiration - comme en général les masques à filtre - en produisant un débit d’air continu. L’unité COMPACT AIR est conçu par le fabricant avec un débit minimal de 150 litres par minute (le débit auquel l’appareil est toujours conforme aux exigences de la classe de la norme EN 12941. Le débit actuel pendant

10 heures de fonctionnement ininterrompu pour lequel il a été conçu sera supérieur à ce minimum selon les filtres et les pièces de rechange pour le visage qui sont utilisés. Dans le tableau 2 figure les débits initiaux qui sont trouvés pour les combinaisons différentes. L’appareil ne peut être utilisé qu’en combinaison avec la cagoule ou un masque complet comme mentionné dans ce tableau et uniquement en combinaison avec les filtres COMPACT AIR.

COMPACT AIR 34 V1.3 (2007 - 03 - 14)

3 Description

L’aérateur complet COMPACT AIR se compose de:

•

Un ventilateur, avec 3 prises femelles filetées pour cartouches filtrantes suivant EN148-1, fourni avec une sangle, un manchon avec un connecteur de filtres à baïonnette pour kits de jupe à air et un débit-mètre.

•

Batterie rechargeable avec fusible auto-réarmable intégré. Dans le cas où un court-circuit se produise, le fusible auto-réarmable interrompt automatiquement l’alimentation électrique et évite ainsi que la batterie ne soit endommagée. Aprés avoir supprimé le court-circuit, le fusible autoréarmable reconnectera automatiquement la batterie à l’alimentation électrique afin de recharger la batterie. Lorsque ce fusible auto-réarmable est encastré dans les circuits de la batterie, il ne peut alors plus être déplacé.

•

Un chargeur de batterie, 100 % automatique.

•

Un débitmètre, indique la limite de 150 l/min.

•

Le set complet est fourni dans un coffret portable en plastique avec garniture en mousse.

4 Utilisation

L’unité Turbo COMPACT AIR assure l’arrivée d’air ambiant propre et filtré qui alimente une cagoule ou un masque et permet à l’utilisateur de respirer de l’air sans avoir à surmonter la résistance des filtres. En considérant qu’un adulte a besoin de 50 litres d’air à la minute, la surcapacité garantit une légère surpression et ainsi un haut degré de protection. Avec une batterie chargée, l’appareil

COMPACT AIR est apte à fournir pendant 6,5 heures au moins le débit minimum pour lequel la machine a été conçue.

Cet appareil n’est pas équipé d’une facilité pour avertir l’utilisateur d’une réduction de l’arrivée d’air.

Il faut en tenir compte en choisissant un dispositif de protection adapté aux conditions existantes dans l’atelier.

4.1

Avant l’utilisation

Avant d’utiliser l’aérateur COMPACT AIR, l’utilisateur doit s’assurer que toutes les conditions pour une utilisation sûre ont été prises.

•

Contrôlez si le raccord flexible adéquat, fileté ou à baïonnette, est bien raccordé au tuyau.

•

Avant d’utiliser l’appareil, vérifiez si la batterie est bien chargée (voir chapitre 4.2 "Le chargeur universel (Fig. 21)") et que le courant de l’air n’est pas gêné par des filtres bouchés ou pour d’autres raisons.

•

Vérifiez la sécurité de la prise en contrôlant si le joint de serrage est bien serré.

•

Vérifiez si les cartouches filtrantes adéquates ont été mises en place (voir chapitre 4.1.3. Tableau 1 "Filtres MULTI C'AIR matrice combinés en combinaison avec des Cagoules.").

•

Vérifiez si le COMPACT AIR fonctionne convenablement en utilisant le débitmètre fourni avec l’appareil. Insérez le débitmètre verticalement à l’extrémité du tuyau et mettez en service l’appareil sur lequel les filtres à utiliser ont déjà été installés. La bille dans le débitmètre doit atteindre au moins le niveau minimum (150 litres par minute).

•

Assurez-vous que les cartouches filtrantes sont bien placées dans les prises femelles filetées du ventilateur et que les joints d’étanchéité ont été mis en place.

•

Pour savoir quelles combinaisons sont permises, voir tableau 1.

4.1.1 Limitations d’utilisation du système

•

L’espace, dans lequel le COMPACT AIR doit être utilisé, doit contenir au moins 17 % d’oxygène et ne doit pas contenir ni gaz ni vapeurs explosifs. Dans les espaces fermés où il y a un risque de déficit d’oxygène l’utilisation du COMPACT AIR doit être évitée.

•

Dans le cas d’un effort physique important, il est possible qu’il y ait une pression négative temporaire dans la cagoule, provoquant une diminution du facteur de protection du système.

•

Lorsque le débit d’air dépasse 2 m/sec, le facteur de protection peut en être affecté.

•

Les limites de température d’utilisation se situent entre -10 °C et +50 °C.

Avertissement: Si l’utilisateur du respirateur a des vertiges ou se sent mal à l’aise ou sentirait / goûterait quelque chose, il doit quitter immédiatement l’espace contaminé.

4.1.2 Cartouche filtrante, type COMPACT AIR

Lisez attentivement les instructions jointes avant de brancher les cartouches filtrantes.

Selon la nature des substances particulières dangereuses, des différents types de cartouches filtrantes COMPACT AIR doivent être utilisés, voir le tableau des filtres COMPACT AIR disponibles séparément (table 1).

4.1.3 Limitations d’utilisation des filtres

•

Utilisez toujours 3 cartouches filtrantes pour gaz identiques pour permettre une distribution régulière du débit d’air. Un autre type ou un type plus ancien d’une cartouche filtrante pour gaz s’usera plus rapidement et l’efficacité de filtrage du COMPACT AIR sera totalement inefficace.

•

Veillez à ne pas utiliser le COMPACT AIR dans des circonstances où il y aurait des gaz et/ou des vapeurs dangereux qui ne seraient détectés ni par le goût ni par l'odeur et qui peuvent porter directement atteinte à votre santé ou à votre vie.

•

Le carbone à l’intérieur de la cartouche filtrante est sensible aux effets de moisissure. Pour le cas où il y aurait des aérosols ou des gouttelettes, il est recommandé d’utiliser une cartouche filtrante combinée.

•

Les cartouches filtrantes usagées ne peuvent pas être nettoyées.

•

Les cartouches filtrantes doivent toujours être remplacées tous en même temps par de nouvelles cartouches.

Les valeurs mentionnées dans le tableau 2 représentent les valeurs moyennes de 10 essais par combinaison de filtres. Par exemple, 10 essais de 3 cartouches filtrantes A sur une unité turbo en fonctionnement.

Les essais effectués conformément aux normes EN 146 et EN 12941 indiquent que les filtres pour particules (P3 conformément à la norme EN143) ne sont pas classifiés et pour cela, ils sont appelés des filtres P.

4.2

Le chargeur universel (Fig. 21)

4.2.1 Note importantes sur l’utilisation du chargeur universel fourni

•

Le chargeur universel est conçu pour une utilisation à l’intérieur uniquement, et doit être rangé dans un endroit sec !

•

Pour éviter les chocs électriques, ne jamais utiliser le chargeur dans un environnement humide !

•

Pour éviter les risques d’explosion et d’incendie, ne jamais charger des batteries dans une atmosphère potentiellement explosive !

•

Le microcontrôleur du chargeur évite que la batterie ne soit endommagée lorsque la durée de chargement est dépassée.

•

Le chargeur passera automatiquement en mode de charge d’entretien.

•

Un chargeur défectueux ne peut être réparé, et doit être remplacé.

4.2.2 Voyants du chargeur

4.2.3 Chargement des batteries (avec le chargeur universel fourni)

Notes importantes:

Une fois la batterie complètement chargée, le chargeur passe en charge d’entretien. Toujours avoir une batterie de rechange chargée à portée de main lorsque vous travaillez avec un appareil filtrant

électrique. Les nouvelles batteries sont toujours vides.

Recharger uniquement les batteries qui ont été déchargées complètement ! Cela permet de charger et de décharger la batterie jusqu’à environ 500 fois, dans des circonstances de fonctionnement normales.

Il faut environ 6 à 10 heures pour charger une nouvelle batterie, ou une batterie déchargée complètement.

•

Utiliser l’adaptateur électrique qui correspond au pays d’utilisation.

•

Appuyer sur le bouton pour dégager l’adapteur approprié pour le pays d’utilisation (si applicable).

•

Brancher l’adapteur électrique qui correspond au pays jusqu’à ce qu’il s’enclenche en place.

•

Brancher le chargeur à l’alimentation électrique (100-240V CA).

•

Brancher la batterie au chargeur. Le voyant rouge va s’allumer pour indique que la batterie est en cours de chargement.

•

Si le voyant clignote, il y a un problème avec la batterie. Résoudre le problème selon le cas.

4.2.4 Décharger les batteries

Notes importantes

Si des batteries déchargées partiellement sont rechargées de façon répétée, leurs durée de vie sera considérablement racourçi. Pour éviter cela, décharger la batterie une fois tous les deux mois.

•

Brancher la batterie au chargeur et appuyer syr le bouton jaune (3) pendant environ deux secondes pour commencer à décharger la batterie.

Une fois la batterie complètement déchargée, celle-ci sera complètement rechargée.

4.3

Pendant l’utilisation

En cas d’anomalie au niveau de l’alimentation d’air soudain, il faut quitter immédiatement les lieux de travail.

Avertissement: Si l’utilisateur du respirateur a des vertiges ou se sent mal à l’aise ou sentirait / goûterait quelque chose, il doit quitter immédiatement l’espace contaminé.

4.4

Après l’utilisation

Enlevez les filtres et débranchez la cagoule et le ventilateur. Obturez le filtres avec les bouchons enlevés préalablement.

4.5

Nettoyage et désinfection

Après chaque utilisation du COMPACT AIR, nettoyez-le à l’eau et avec un produit de nettoyage doux. (Ne pas utiliser de solvants). Assurez-vous que, pendant le nettoyage, l’eau ne pénètre pas dans le ventilateur. L’appareil ne doit pas être immergé dans l’eau. Séchez le COMPACT AIR avec un chiffon et/ou faites-le sécher en plein air.

Conseil: Du point de vue hygiénique, il est préférable que ce soit la même personne qui porte toujours la même cagoule à air ou masque.

5 Maintenance et inspection

A la suite d’une utilisation intensive et d’un vieillissement naturel, l’état des bagues d’étanchéité entre la cartouche filtrante et la prise femelle du ventilateur peut se détériorer. En cas de doute, remplacez les bagues d’étanchéité. Contrôlez que le tuyau ne fuit pas et vérifiez si le connecteur fileté et le câble ne sont pas endommagés.

6 Stockage

Avant de stocker le COMPACT AIR dans le coffret portable, assurez-vous qu’il est bien sec.

Ne gardez pas ensemble dans le même lieu des cartouches filtrantes usagées avec le COMPACT

AIR et la cagoule. Retirez les filtres du COMPACT AIR et obturez-les avec les bouchons enlevés préalablement.

7 Pannes / dépannage

Le ventilateur n’envoie pas d’air:

•

la pile est vide.

•

Le commutateur est en position “désactivée” (“off”).

•

Le commutateur est défectueux.

•

Le connecteur d’alimentation ou le raccordement du bouchon est défectueux.

•

Les roulements du moteur sont défectueux.

•

Les bouchons d’obturation ne sontpas enlevés des cartouches filtrantes.

Le ventilateur n’envoie pas suffisamment d’air:

•

La batterie n’est pas suffisamment chargée.

•

Obstruction des cartouches filtrantes.

•

Obstruction ou fuite du tuyau.

•

Obstruction ou fuite du masque, de la cagoule ou du masque respiratoire.

•

Tous les bouchons d’obturation ne sont pas enlevés des cartouches filtrantes.

La batterie ne se charge pas:

•

Le connecteur d’alimentation ou le raccordement du bouchon est défectueux.

•

Le chargeur est défectueux.

•

La batterie est défectueuse ou usée.

La batterie se vide trop rapidement:

13 Généralités

North Safety Products Europe B.V. n’incombe aucune responsabilité quant aux endommagements dans le sens ample du terme pour le propriétaire, l’utilisateur et autres en cas de l’utilisation du produit par la personne concernée ou par des tiers, lesquels sont dus, directement ou indirectement à une utilisation et / ou un entretien non qualifiés du produit, par quoi on entend l’utilisation à un autre but que celui pour lequel l’appareil est destiné et / ou l’application incomplète, incorrecte ou différente ou la non-application des prescriptions imposées par le présent mode d’emploi et / ou des réparations du produit n’ayant pas été effectués par nos soins ni en notre nom. Pour toutes les transactions, nos conditions générales de vente et de livraison sont d’application. North Safety Products Europe B.V. s’efforce d’améliorer continuellement ses produits et se réserve le droit d’apporter des modifications aux spécifications du présent mode d’emploi sans avis préalable.

14 Garantie

North Safety Products Europe B.V. réparera et / ou remplacera ce produit gratuitement au cas où, à l’usage normal, conforme au mode d’emploi, des vices de fabrication et / ou de matériaux se manifeste dans les 12 mois suivant la date d’achat. La garantie vient à échéance au cas où le numéro de type ou de série a été changé, enlevé ou rendu illisible.
