Unscrew the cap with the water take-up hose and remove it from the tank (Fig. 4). • Fill the tank with water using the jug supplied (Fig. 5). Water by its nature contains limescale which, as time goes by, can cause problems. To protect your appliance, use demineralised water. Do not add other substances or additives to the tank. • Screw the cap with the water take-up hose back on the tank and hook it back on the appliance (Fig. 6). • Position the cloth (11/14) under the brush (Fig. 7) and fasten it by pulling the cord (Fig. 8). The user is responsible for delivering the appliance to an appropriate collection facility at the end of its useful lifespan. Appropriate separate collection to permit recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible disposal helps prevent negative impact on the environment and human health and promotes recycling of the materials making up the product. For more information on available collection facilities, contact your local waste collection service or the shop where you bought this appliance. Warning: Do not use the appliance without the cloth. • • • IMPORTANT Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your Vaporetto may contain some residual water in the tank. • • PREPARATION • Remove the appliance from the packaging, checking that the product is whole and that all the parts are there. • • 17 USE Plug the power lead (4) into a suitable socket with an earth connection. The power indicator light will come on (8). The power indicator light (8) will remain on constantly indicating that the appliance is connected to the mains. Wait for the pressure indicator lamp (9) to come on. At this point the appliance is ready for use. To release the brush (10) from the appliance, put your foot on the brush (10) and at the same time tilt the handle (1) (Fig. 10). To block it again, just return it to the original position (Fig. 10). Press the steam button (2) to dispense steam. To stop it, release the steam button (2). Clean the floors by moving the brush forward and backward. To clean rugs and carpets, rest the brush (with ENGLISH VAPORETTO SV300 VT SV300 - M0S10993 - 1U06 - _ver7:FEV 1000-950.qxd 08/07/2014 11.14 Pagina 18 VAPORETTO SV300 the cloth attached) on the special frame (12) so that it can slide on the surface (Fig. 9). Inside the package there is a spare filter (7), in addition to the one already mounted on the appliance. ENGLISH NOTE: the steam ready light (9) turns on and off during use. This indicates that the electric resistance is operating to keep temperature constant and is therefore quite normal. Note: The limescale filters, as well as replacement cloths, can be purchased in all leading household appliance stores, or online at www.polti.com. Warning: - To remove the cloth from the brush, detach the power supply plug from the electric socket and wait a few minutes to allow the cloth to cool. STORING THE DEVICE Before replacing the appliance: - Unplug the power supply from the mains. - Completely empty the water tank (5) to avoid water leaks. - Before detaching the cloth from the brush, wait a few minutes to allow it to cool. - Wind the power cable around the special cable rewinds (3) and (6). NO WATER The water level is always visible thanks to the transparent tank. When the water inside the tank (D) has been used up, steam will stop being released. To restart operations just fill the water tank (5) again as described in the paragraph “PREPARATION”. Warning: - Before using the appliance again, remember to unwind the power cable completely. The upper cable winder (3) rotates 180° in order to wind up the power cable quickly. - Do not keep the appliance connected to the power supply with the cable wound up. Warning: This must always be done after having disconnected the appliance from the mains. PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR THE USE OF THE ACCESSORIES PRECAUTIONS • Before treating leather, special fabrics and wood surfaces, consult the manufacturer’s instructions and always carry out a test on a hidden part or on a sample of the material. Allow the steamed part to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deformations have occurred. • Please pay careful attention when cleaning treated wood or terracotta flooring, as prolonged use of steam may damage the wax, polish or colour of the surfaces to be cleaned. We therefore recommend only steaming these surfaces for short periods of time, or cleaning using a previously steamed cloth. • The universal cloth (11) can be used on most surfaces. If when using the universal cloth (11), it does not slide smoothly, you can use the very smooth cloth (14). LIMESCALE FILTER By nature, water contains mineral salts that favour the formation of scale. Vaporetto SV300 is supplied with a limescale filter (7) which reduces the passage of mineral salts and therefore the formation of limescale. Always use demineralised water. We recommend that the filter be changed 2 times per year. To replace the filter, proceed as follows: • Unplug from the mains electricity. • Remove the water tank (5) (Fig. 3) pulling it upward, then remove the filter (7), still pulling upward (Fig. 13). • Position the new filter (7), push gently and make sure that it is perfectly inserted (Fig. 13), then reposition the water tank (Fig. 6). 18 VT SV300 - M0S10993 - 1U06 - _ver7:FEV 1000-950.qxd 08/07/2014 11.14 Pagina 19 VAPORETTO SV300 ENGLISH CARE OF YOUR APPLIANCE • Before attempting any maintenance operation, make sure to always disconnect the appliance from the mains. • To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth. Do not use solvents or detergents as these could damage the plastic surfaces. • The cloths provided can be washed by following the instructions included on the label. TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM Steam does not come out SOLUTION - Check that the cable is properly plugged into the mains socket. - Check that the pressure indicator light (9) is on. - Check that there is water in the tank (5). If the problem persists after checking the above points, perform the following operation: disconnect from the mains and wait (approximately 2 hours) until the appliance cools, after which follow the points listed in the Chapter “Use”. If the problem persists, take it to an Authorized Service Centre. 19 VT SV300 - M0S10993 - 1U06 - _ver7:FEV 1000-950.qxd 08/07/2014 11.14 Pagina 20 VAPORETTO SV300 WARRANTY ENGLISH WARRANTY CONDITIONS For repairs, the appliance must be accompanied by proof of purchase.
