OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

BLADE ADJUSTMENTS

HARD SOIL OPERATION:

1. TIP BLADE FORWARD BY LOOSENING LOCKING LEVER (BLACK HANDLE RIGHT SIDE "H" FRAME). PUSH "H" FRAME FORWARD AS REQUIRED AND

LOCK LEVER.

DEPTH OF CUT:

1. LOOSEN UPPER RIGHT HAND LOCKING LEVER. TIP MACHINE FORWARD AND MOVE CENTER DEPTH CONTROL LEVER TO DESIRED DEPTH. LOCK IN

POSITION BY ROTATING LOCKING LEVER CLOCKWISE.

2. LOOSEN DEPTH STOP LOCKING LEVER AT CENTER OF "H" FRAME. RAISE DEPTH STOP UNTIL IT CONTACTS DEPTH CONTROL LEVER AND LOCK

IN PLACE.

3. ADJUST BLADE TO CUT SOD 3/4 TO 1 INCH THICK.

TRANSPORTING MACHINE

TO MOVE WITHOUT POWER:

DISENGAGE DRIVE WHEEL SHIFTER LEVER (ON FRONT-RIGHT SIDE OF MACHINE) BY ROTATING DOWNWARD.

TO MOVE MACHINE UNDER POWER:

1. DISENGAGE CUTTING BLADE SHIFTER LEVER (ON FRONT-RIGHT SIDE OF MACHINE) BY ROTATING DOWNWARD.

2. ENGAGE DRIVE WHEEL SHIFTER LEVER (ON FRONT-RIGHT SIDE OF MACHINE) BY ROTATING UPWARD.

3. WITH ENGINE RUNNING, HOLD OPERATOR PRESENT LEVER AGAINST HANDLEBAR AND PUSH CLUTCH LEVER FORWARD TO THE ENGAGED

POSITION.

STARTING ENGINE

1. FILL FUEL TANK WITH REGULAR GASOLINE.

2. PULL CLUTCH LEVER BACK TO DISENGAGED POSITION.

3. SET THROTTLE TO 1/2 OPEN POSITION AND MOVE STOP SWITCH TO "ON" POSITION.

4. SET CHOKE AND START ENGINE.

SOD CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS

1. MAKE REQUIRED BLADE ADJUSTMENTS AS STATED ABOVE.

2. START ENGINE PER INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE AND SET THROTTLE TO FULL SPEED.

3. ENGAGE DRIVE WHEELS BY ROTATING SHIFTER LEVER ON FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF MACHINE UPWARD.

4. ENGAGE CUTTING BLADE BY ROTATING SHIFTER LEVER ON REAR RIGHT SIDE OF MACHINE UPWARD.

5. WITH MACHINE TIPPED FORWARD ON FRONT BUMPER AND OPERATOR PRESENT LEVER HELD AGAINST HANDLEBAR, PUSH CLUTCH LEVER

FORWARD, AT THE SAME TIME LOWER THE MACHINE SO BLADE ENTERS THE GROUND.

6. TO STOP MACHINE, PULL BACK FIRMLY ON CLUTCH LEVER, THIS APPLIES A BRAKE.

7. STOP ENGINE BY MOVING STOP SWITCH TO "OFF" POSITION.

JR SODCUTTER CONTROLS

Clutch Control Lever - A : Engages or releases

drive belt and applies brake action to drive belt when pulled FIRMLY to rear.

Throttle Control - B : Speeds up or slows down

engine.

Engine Switch: Turn to "ON" position to start

engine. Turn to "OFF" position to stop engine.

Operator Presence Control - C : With clutch

control engaged, engine will stop if operator presence lever is not depressed.

Blade Depth Control Lever - D : Raises or lowers

cutting blade.

Blade Angle Locking Lever - E : Adjusts cutting

angle of blade.

Blade Depth Control Locking Lever - F : Locking

lever holds blade depth control in desired position.

Depth Gauge - G : Allows resetting of blade depth

to the previous cutting height.

MOVING THE JR SODCUTTER

To move unit without running blade :

1.

Place blade shifter handle H in "disengaged" position (handle will point straight out from unit).

2.

Set engine speed at slow speed.

3.

Engage drive shifter handle.

4.

Depress operator presence control.

5.

Engage operator presence control.

6.

Engage clutch control lever.

7.

Adjust throttle to desired walking speed.

To move unit without running engine :

1.

Put drive shifter handle and clutch control lever in "Disengaged" position.

To transport the unit :

1.

When transporting unit on trailer or truck, shut fuel valve "OFF" beneath fuel tank.

OPERATION

PRE-OPERATION CHECK

1. Visually check all moving parts and all fasteners.

If loose or broken, tighten or replace. Check belt for fraying, wear and proper adjustment (see

SERVICE section).

2. Lubricate all lubrication fittings before each days use or after every eight hours of operation (see

SERVICE section).

3. Check the engine crankcase oil level with the engine resting in a level position. Add oil if necessary.

4. Check the gear case oil level. Add oil if necessary.

5. Check the air filter. Replace if necessary.

6. Sharpen cutting blade (see SERVICE section).

7. Follow the engine manufacturer's recommendations for the correct type and amount of oil. Fill the fuel tank according to the engine manufacturer's specifications.

Do not fill containers in a vehicle or on a truck or trailer bed with a plastic liner. Fill containers on the ground away from the vehicle.

Refuel equipment on the ground. If equipment must be fueled on a truck or trailer, refuel from a portable container rather than a dispenser nozzle.

Keep the dispenser nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel tank or container opening until fueling is complete. Do not use a nozzle lockopen device.

NEVER start or run the engine inside where

exhaust fumes can collect. Carbon monoxide present in the exhaust is an odorless and deadly gas.

DO NOT operate equipment without shields in

place. DO NOT make adjustments or perform any maintenance while the engine is running.

Before operating, check the area and remove any object which may present a safety hazard or damage the equipment.

Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly explosive under certain conditions. Always stop the engine and do not smoke or allow open flames or sparks when refueling. BE SURE to install fuel cap after refueling.

When replacement parts are required, use genuine RYAN parts or parts with equivalent characteristics, including type, strength and material. Failure to do so may result in product malfunction and possible injury to the operator and/or bystanders.

Carbon monoxide present in the exhaust is an odorless and deadly gas. Never start or run the engine inside where exhaust fumes can collect.

Provide enough fresh air to keep fumes from getting too strong.

When replacing engine, be sure to replace sound level warning decal (Part No. 524538).

Any warning decal that becomes illegible should be replaced immediately.

BLADE SHARPENING

1. Hand file bottom blade at 45

angle until no flat remains.

2. To keep cutting edge less than 1/16" on 45

O angle, grind milled surface back at 15

STOP engine and disconnect spark plug wire

before servicing or making adjustments to unit.

The preceding decal shows what could happen if the engine is not stopped or disabled before removing safety covers. Hands may become entangled in moving belts, gears, chains or other parts.

Use adequate lifting device (i.e., hoist, fork lift, etc.) to raise unit.

Use adequate supports when unit is raised for servicing.

Wear protective eye equipment when using hammers, chisels and punches.

SERVICE

DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENT

Keep belt free of oil and dirt, and adjusted to proper tension at all times.

Belt tension is adjusted by loosening four (4) engine mounting bolts and shifting engine on the base.

The belt should be taut when the clutch lever is pushed forward (engaged) and the idler wheel is

1" (25.4 mm) from the engine mount plate.

DRIVE BELT REPLACEMENT

1. Remove shield on left side of unit.

2. Remove nut securing brake band to clutch control rod.

3. Remove cotter pin on outside of guard support rod and move brake band over to nut on rod.

4. Loosen two bolts A securing belt guide to provide clearance when removing belt.

5. Install new belt in reverse procedure. Route the belt as shown.

DRIVE CHAIN REMOVAL

Raise unit, place on adequate supports and remove belt guard.

Remove four (4) screws securing cover.

3.

Remove throttle cable from engine and lay behind cam case.

Remove dipstick from cover.

Remove screw, flat washer, nut and bushing from right lower side of "H" frame.

6.

Using a screwdriver, lift cover to break sealant bond and remove cover.

7.

Drain oil out of front cavity on case, and turn drive wheels until master link is on top of sprocket.

8.

Remove master link and continue rotating drive wheels until chain is off bottom sprocket.

9.

Install new chain in reverse procedure. Clean mating surfaces on case and cover. Apply 3M

Scotch Grip 847 or an equivalent adhesive to case cover before installation.

BLADE DRIVE CHAIN REPLACEMENT

NOTE: To prevent small components from falling

down into oil cavities and causing damage to unit, cover opening with clean rags, cardboard, etc.

1.

Follow steps 1 thru 6 in drive chain removal.

2.

Remove bottom screw on bearing cage to drain oil from rear cavity.

3.

Rotate pulley shaft until master link is to front of top sprocket. Remove master link.

4.

Rotate blade drive shaft until chain is free.

5.

Install new chain in reverse procedure. Use 3M

Scotch Grip 847 or an equivalent adhesive on case cover and bearing retainer screw.

UPPER DRIVE SPROCKET & SHAFT

1.

Remove drive chain according to steps 1 thru 6 in drive chain removal section.

2.

Remove master link from chain. Chain does not need to be removed from lower sprocket.

3.

Remove drive shifter assembly from gear case.

4.

Remove blade and side arms from pivot brackets for easier access.

5.

Remove plugs on both ends of shaft.

6.

Remove snap rings B from left bearing.

7.

Using a punch and soft hammer (lead, leather, etc.), drive shaft out left side of unit and remove large gear.

8.

Using a bearing puller or slide hammer, remove bearing. Shaft is now removable through cam case cover opening.

9.

Dog clutch half is removable from gear by removing snap ring.

10. Assemble in reverse procedure.

11. After installing blade shifter assembly, adjust dog clutch to provide .015" (0.39 mm) clearance between clutch faces, as shown.

12. Apply 3M Scotch Grip adhesive or an equivalent to gear case cover before installation.

DRIVE WHEEL CHAIN SPROCKET SHAFT

1.

Follow steps 1 thru 7 in drive chain removal section.

2.

Remove master link and remove chain from top sprocket.

3.

Remove both drive wheels and axle keys.

4.

Remove seal in case and snap ring retaining bearing in case.

5.

Install axle nut on end of shaft, opposite the side of snap ring previously removed.

6.

Using a soft hammer (lead, brass, etc.), drive shaft out of case. Sprocket can now be removed by lifting up on chain.

7.

Top sprocket and chain should be checked for wear and replaced if necessary.

8.

Reassemble in reverse procedure using new seals and gaskets.

ADJUSTING BLADE ANGLE

1.

Loosen blade angle control locking lever F and move H-frame forward or backward until blade is at desired angle of pitch.

2.

Tighten blade angle control locking lever F.

BLADE ANGLE (PITCH)

Under normal operating conditions, blade angle is minimal (blade bottom is flat). In extremely hard soil or when cutting with a dull blade, the blade may want to ride out of the ground. It may then help to adjust blade angle downward (see

Adjusting Blade Angle above). A short trial run will indicate which is the best blade angle.

ADJUSTING DEPTH OF CUT

1.

Make a trial run in turf. Set depth to cut approximately 3/4" of soil.

2.

Loosen depth gauge handle. Adjust depth gauge

G to contact bottom on depth control lever D.

3.

Loosen depth control locking lever E and lower depth control D until it rests on depth gauge G.

4.

Tighten depth control locking lever E.

NOTE: Numbers on depth gauge do not necessarily

represent thickness of sod being cut.

ADJUSTING OPERATOR PRESENCE CONTROL

1.

To adjust operator presence cable, pull clutch control handle A rearward as far as possible.

2.

Press operator presence handle (right handlebar) down as far as possible.

3.

Adjust cable until the pivot arm C contacts the arm extending from the operator presence switch B.

4.

Tighten cable clamp to secure cable. Check for proper operation.

PULLEY SHAFT

1.

Follow steps 1 thru 4 in belt replacement section and steps 2 thru 6 in drive chain removal section.

2.

Remove blade from unit and remove left side arm.

3.

Remove blade shifter assembly.

4.

Turn pulley until master link is on top of sprocket. Remove chain from top sprocket.

5.

Remove belt pulley and key.

6.

Remove four (4) bearing cage screws and pull gears out left side of unit. Dog clutch and double sprocket will slide off as shaft is removed.

7.

To remove gear and bearing, remove snap ring, slide gear off shaft and remove key. Remove bearing snap ring and remove bearing.

8.

Assemble in reverse procedure. After blade shifter assembly is installed, adjust dog clutch to provide .015" (0.39 mm) clearance between clutch faces, as shown.

9.

Apply 3M Scotch Grip 847 adhesive or equivalent to gear case cover before installation.

BLADE SPROCKET SHAFT

1.

Follow steps 1 thru 6 in pulley shaft section.

2.

Loosen clamp screw on left pitman arm C and remove from shaft.

3.

Loosen clamp screw in eccentric assembly D and remove.

4.

Remove two (2) top screws securing the other side arm assembly. Side arm, shaft and pitman arm, are now removable by pulling side arm out.

5.

Remove eccentric and both bearing cages E.

Put a pan under rear portion of case to catch oil from case cavity.

6.

Push shaft to left of case, lift right end of shaft out of case with bearings and sprocket intact.

7.

To remove sprocket, press bearing from shaft, and slide sprocket off.

NOTE: End play on shaft must not exceed .005

(.127 mm) clearance and should rotate freely when bearing cages are tightened.

8.

Assemble in reverse procedure. After blade shifter assembly is installed, adjust dog clutch to provide .015" (0.39 mm) clearance between clutch faces, as shown.

9.

Apply 3M Scotch Grip 847 adhesive or equivalent to gear case cover before installation.

IDLER GEAR SHAFT

1.

Remove belt guards.

2.

Follow steps 2 thru 6 in drive chain removal section.

3.

Remove plug from right side of unit.

4.

Remove snap ring C from groove by small gear

B to left end of shaft A.

5.

Move small gear B to left side (from operators position) of case.

6.

Move shaft A out right side of case until large gear clears shaft for removal.

7.

Remove key from shaft and slide snap rings C off end of shaft.

8.

Small gear B will slide off as shaft is removed from gear case.

9.

Assemble in reverse procedure. Apply 3M

Scotch Grip 847 adhesive or equivalent to gear case cover before installation.

LUBRICATION

The gear case is initially filled with 3 1/2 pints

(1.7 L) of EP 140 Gear Lube. Do not add to this amount unless oil is changed or lost through leakage. Gear case drain plug D.

On all pressurized lubrication fittings use a good grade of Lithium Based lubricant.

The Jr. Sodcutter has 6 lubrication fittings.

Lubricate pitman arms (1 each side) and side arms (1 each side) after every 4 hours of use.

Lubricate side arm pivots (1 each side - top of unit) after every 8 hours of use.

Check gear case lubricant level using dipstick E located on top of gear case. Check lube with dipstick sitting on threads, do not screw in.

BRAKE BAND REPLACEMENT AND

ADJUSTMENT

1.

Remove belt guard.

2.

Remove old brake band from Jr. Sodcutter.

Retain all hardware.

3.

Install new brake band with the large loop and hardware at the lower mounting point (on guard support rod).

4.

Loosen the lock nut and the adjustment screw on the new brake band. Activate the brake lever and tighten the adjustment screw until the brake band is pulled snug against the belt. Tighten the lock nut on brake adjustment screw. Make a test run. Stop engine and re-adjust brake band if necessary.

Re-install belt guard using original hardware.

NOTE: Make sure that cotter pin does not interfere

with drive belt.

Routine brake band adjustment is necessary as the band and belt wear.

If brake band is not correctly attached to clutch control link, idler arm will rotate backward away from belt and no drive will occur.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

To prevent possible explosion or ignition of vaporized fuel, do not store equipment with fuel in tank or carburetor in enclosure with open flame (for example, a furnace or water heater pilot light).

Start engine and run until all fuel is used from the carburetor float bowl.

3.

While engine is warm, drain the crankcase oil and replace with the proper weight of oil corresponding to the season when the equipment will next be used.

Daily Storage

1. Check engine oil level and air filter element daily.

4.

Remove the spark plug and squirt a small quantity of engine oil into the cylinder. Turn the engine over a few times to distribute the oil.

2. Check oil level in gear case.

5.

Lubricate all lubrication fittings.

3.

Close fuel valve at bottom of fuel tank.

6.

Clean and oil cutting blade to prevent rust.

4.

Clean cutting blade (grass, dirt, etc.).

Extended Storage

To put equipment into operation after an extended storage:

1. AFLOJE LA PALANCA DE BLOQUEO DERECHA SUPERIOR. INCLINE LA MAQUINA HACIA DELANTE Y MUEVA LA PALANCA DE CONTROL DE PROFUNDIDAD CENTRAL A LA PROFUNDIDAD DESEADA.

BLOQUEE GIRANDO LA PALANCA DE BLOQUEO A LA DERECHA.

2. AFLOJE LA PALANCA DE BLOQUEO DE PARADA DE PROFUNDIDAD EN EL CENTRO DEL BASTIDOR "H". LEVANTE LA PARADA DE PROFUNDIDAD HASTA QUE TOQUE LA PALANCA DE CONTROL DE

PROFUNDIDAD Y QUEDE BLOQUEADA EN POSICION.

3. CON EL MOTOR EN FUNCIONAMIENTO, SUJETE LA PALANCA DE PRESENCIA DEL OPERADOR CONTRA EL MANILLAR Y EMPUJE HACIA DELANTE LA PALANCA DEL EMBRAGUE HASTA LA POSICIÓN

DE ENGRANAJE.

PUESTA EN MARCHA DEL MOTOR

1. LLENE EL DEPOSITO DE COMBUSTIBLE CON GASOLINA NORMAL.

2. TIRE DE LA PALANCA DEL EMBRAGUE HACIA ATRAS HASTA LA POSICION DE DESENGRANAJE.

3. PONGA EL ACELERADOR EN POSICION 1/2 ABIERTA Y EL INTERRUPTOR DE PARADA EN "CONECTADO".

4. ACTIVE EL ESTRANGULADOR Y PONER EN MARCHA EL MOTOR.

3. ENGRANE LAS RUEDAS MOTRICES GIRANDO HACIA ARRIBA LA PALANCA DE DESPLAZAMIENTO EN EL LADO DERECHO DELANTERO DE LA MAQUINA.

4. ACTIVE LA CUCHILLA DE CORTE GIRANDO HACIA ARRIBA LA PALANCA DE DESPLAZAMIENTO EN EL LADO DERECHO TRASERO DE LA MAQUINA.

5. CON LA MAQUINA INCLINADA HACIA DELANTE SOBRE EL PARACHOQUES Y CON LA PALANCA DE PRESENCIA DEL OPERADOR HACIA EL MANILLAR, EMPUJE LA PALANCA DEL EMBRAGUE HACIA

DELANTE Y AL MISMO TIEMPO BAJE LA MAQUINA PARA QUE LA CUCHILLA TOQUE EL SUELO.

6. PARA PARAR LA MAQUINA, TIRE FIRMEMENTE DE LA PALANCA DEL EMBRAGUE HACIA DETRAS PARA PONER EL FRENO.

7. PARE EL MOTOR PONIENDO EL INTERRUPTOR DE PARADA EN LA POSICIÓN "DESCONECTADO".

FUNCIONAMIENTO

COMPROBACION PREVIA AL FUNCIONAMIENTO

1. Compruebe visualmente las piezas móviles y los fijadores. Si están sueltos o rotos, apretarlos o cambiarlos. Compruebe que la correa no tenga deshilachamientos ni desgaste y que esté correctamente ajustada (ver sección de

SERVICIO).

2. Lubrique todos los días los accesorios necesarios antes de utilizarlos o cada ocho horas de funcionamiento (ver sección de SERVICIO).

3. Compruebe el nivel de aceite del cárter del motor con el motor en posición nivelada. Añada aceite si es necesario.

4. Compruebe el nivel de aceite de la caja de engranajes. Añada aceite si es necesario.

5. Compruebe el filtro de aire. Cámbielo si es necesario.

6. Afile la cuchilla de corte (ver sección de

SERVICIO).

7. Siga las recomendaciones del fabricante del motor en cuanto al tipo correcto y cantidad de aceite. Llene el depósito de aceite según las especificaciones del fabricante.

ADVERTENCIA

La gasolina es extremadamente inflamable y altamente explosiva en determinadas circunstancias. Pare siempre el motor y no fume cerca de llamas abiertas o chispas al llenar el depósito. ASEGURESE de colocar el tapón de combustible después de llenar el depósito.

No llene contenedores en un vehículo, un camión o la plataforma de un remolque con revestimiento plástico. Llene los contenedores en el suelo y alejado del vehículo.

Rellene el equipo en el suelo. Si el equipo debe rellenarse en un camión o remolque, hágalo con un contenedor portátil en lugar de con una boquilla dosificadora.

Mantenga la boquilla dosificadora en contacto con el cerco de la abertura del depósito de combustible o del contenedor hasta terminar de rellenar. No utilice un dispositivo de apertura del bloqueo de la boquilla.

NO ponga en marcha o haga funcionar el motor en interior, ya que pueden acumularse humos de escape. El monóxido de carbono presente en el escape es un gas inodoro y mortal.

NO utilice el equipo sin las protecciones colocadas. NO realice ajustes ni realice tareas de mantenimiento con el motor en funcionamiento.

Antes de utilizarlo, compruebe la zona y quite los objetos que puedan presentar un peligro o puedan dañar el equipo.

ADVERTENCIA

Cuando se necesiten piezas de repuesto, utilice piezas RYAN originales o piezas de características similares, incluyendo tipo, resistencia y material. De no hacerlo se puede provocar un funcionamiento incorrecto del producto y posibles heridas al operador y/o los peatones.

El monóxido de carbono presente en el escape es un gas inodoro y mortal. No ponga en marcha o haga funcionar el motor en interior, ya que pueden acumularse humos de escape. Utilice suficiente aire limpio para impedir que los humos se concentren demasiado.

Al cambiar un motor, asegúrese de cambiar la etiqueta de advertencia de nivel de sonido (Pieza

No. 524538).

Las etiquetas ilegibles deben cambiarse inmediatamente.

AFILADO DE LA CUCHILLA

1. Afile a mano la cuchilla inferior con un ángulo de

45 O hasta que no queden partes planas.

2. Para mantener el borde de corte a menos de

15,6 mm con un ángulo de 45 O , afile la superficie laminada con un ángulo de 15 O a menos de

15,6 mm.

AJUSTE DE LA CORREA DE LA TRANSMISION

Mantenga la correa limpia de aceite y suciedad y con una tensión adecuada en todo momento.

La tensión de la correa se ajusta aflojando los cuatro (4) pernos de montaje del motor y moviendo el motor en la base.

La cinta debe tensarse cuando la palanca del embrague se empuja hacia delante (se aplica) y la rueda secundaria está a 25,4 mm de la placa de montaje del motor.

DESMONTAJE DE LA CADENA DE TRANSMISION

1.

Levante la unidad, póngala en soportes adecuados y quite la protección de la correa.

2.

Quite los cuatro (4) tornillos que sujetan la correa.

3.

Quite el cable del acelerador del motor y póngalo detrás del bastidor de la leva.

4.

Quite la varilla de la cubierta.

5.

Quite el tornillo, la arandela plana, la tuerca y el manguito del lateral inferior derecho del bastidor

“H”.

6.

Levante la cubierta utilizando un destornillador para romper el sellado y quite la cubierta.

7.

Vacíe el aceite de la cavidad del bastidor y gire las ruedas motrices hasta que el eslabón principal esté encima de la rueda dentada.

8.

Quite el eslabón principal y siga girando las ruedas motrices hasta que la cadena esté fuera de la rueda dentada inferior.

9.

Instale la cadena nueva invirtiendo el procedimiento anterior. Limpie las superficies de acoplamiento del bastidor y la cubierta. Ponga

3M Scotch Grip 847 o un adhesivo equivalente en la cubierta del bastidor antes de la instalación.

CAMBIO DE LA CADENA DE TRANSMISIÓN DE

LA CUCHILLA

NOTA: Para impedir que los componentes pequeños caigan en las cavidades con aceite y provoquen daños a la unidad, cubra la abertura con trapos limpios, cartón, etc.

RUEDA DENTADA Y EJE DE TRANSMISIÓN

SUPERIOR

1.

Quite la cadena de transmisión según los pasos

1 a 6 de la sección de desmontaje de la cadena de transmisión.

2.

Quite el eslabón principal de la cadena. No hace falta quitar la cadena de la rueda dentada inferior.

3.

Quite el desplazador de transmisión de la caja de engranajes.

4.

Quite la cuchilla y los brazos laterales de las abrazaderas de pivote para tener mejor acceso.

5.

Quite el tapón de ambos lados del eje.

6.

Quite las arandelas de presión B del cojinete izquierdo.

7.

Saque el eje por el lado izquierdo de la unidad y quite el engranaje largo por utilizando un punzón y un martillo suave (cuero, piel, etc.).

8.

Quite el cojinete por medio de un dispositivo de extracción del cojinete o un martillo de deslizamiento. El eje podrá ahora sacarse por la abertura de la cubierta del bastidor de leva.

9.

La mitad del embrague por dientes puede sacarse del engranaje quitando la arandela de presión.

10. Monte invirtiendo el procedimiento anterior.

11. Después de instalar el desplazador de la cuchilla, ajuste el embrague por dientes para tener una separación de 0,39 mm entre las caras del embrague, tal y como se muestra.

12. Ponga un adhesivo 3M Scotch Grip 847 o equivalente en la cubierta del bastidor de engranajes antes de la instalación.

EJE DE LA RUEDA DENTADA DE LA CADENA DE

TRANSMISION

1.

Siga los pasos 1 a 7 en la sección de desmontaje de la cadena de transmisión.

5.

Instale la tuerca del eje del extremo del eje, al lado opuesto de la arandela de presión anteriormente quitada.

2.

Quite el eslabón principal y quite la cadena de la rueda dentada superior.

3.

Quite las ruedas motrices y los pasadores del eje.

6.

Saque el eje de transmisión utilizando un martillo suave (piel, latón, etc.). La rueda dentada podrá quitarse ahora levantándola de la cadena.

4.

Quite la junta del bastidor y el cojinete de retención de la arandela de presión del bastidor.

7.

La rueda dentada superior y la cadena deben comprobarse para ver si están desgastadas y deberán cambiarse si es necesario.

8.

Vuelva a montar invirtiendo el procedimiento anterior utilizando sellos y juntas nuevas.

AJUSTE DEL ANGULO DE LA CUCHILLA

1.

Afloje la palanca de bloqueo de control del ángulo de la cuchilla F y mueva el bastidor H hacia delante o hacia detrás hasta que la cuchilla tenga el ángulo de inclinación deseado.

2.

Apriete la palanca de bloqueo de control del

ángulo de la cuchilla F.

ANGULO DE LA CUCHILLA (INCLINACION)

En condiciones normales de funcionamiento, el

ángulo de la cuchilla es mínimo (la parte inferior de la cuchilla está plana). En terrenos extremadamente duros o cuando se utilice una cuchilla desafilada, es posible que la cuchilla intente levantarse del terreno. Puede que haya que ajustar el ángulo de la cuchilla hacia abajo

(ver Ajuste del ángulo de la cuchilla). Si se realiza una prueba corta de funcionamiento se verá qué

ángulo de la cuchilla es el más adecuado.

AJUSTE DE LA PROFUNDIDAD DE CORTE

1.

Realice una prueba en césped. Ajuste la profundidad para cortar aproximadamente

1,87 cm de tierra.

2.

Afloje la palanca del indicador de profundidad.

Ajuste el indicador de profundidad G para que toque la parte inferior de la palanca de control de profundidad D.

3.

Afloje la palanca de bloqueo de control de profundidad E y baje el control de profundidad inferior D hasta que descanse sobre el indicador de profundidad G.

4.

Apriete la palanca de bloqueo de control de profundidad E.

NOTA: Los números del indicador de profundidad no representan necesariamente el espesor de césped cortado.

Para ajustar el cable de presencia del operador, tire de la palanca de control del embrague A hacia atrás todo lo que pueda.

2.

Baje la palanca de presencia del operador

(palanca derecha) lo más posible.

Ajuste el cable hasta que el brazo de pivote C toque el brazo que se extiende desde el interruptor de presencia del operador B.

4.

Apriete la abrazadera del cable para sujetar el cable. Asegúrese de que funciona correctamente.

EJE DE LA POLEA

1.

Siga los pasos 1 a 4 de la sección de cambio de la correa y los pasos 2 a 6 de la sección de desmontaje de la cadena de transmisión.

2.

Saque la cuchilla de la unidad y quite el brazo lateral izquierdo.

3.

Quite el desplazador de la cuchilla.

4.

Gire la polea hasta que el eslabón principal esté sobre la rueda dentada. Quite la cadena de la parte superior de la rueda dentada.

5.

Quite la polea de la correa y el pasador.

6.

Quite los cuatro (4) tornillos del alojamiento del cojinete y saque los engranajes en el lado izquierdo de la unidad. El embrague por diente y la rueda dentada doble saldrán del eje cuando

éste se saque.

7.

Para quitar el engranaje y el cojinete, saque la arandela de presión, saque el engranaje del eje y quite el pasador. Quite la arandela de presión del cojinete y saque el cojinete.

8.

Monte invirtiendo el procedimiento anterior.

Después de instalar el desplazador de la cuchilla, ajuste el embrague por dientes para tener una separación de 0,39 mm entre las caras del embrague, tal y como se muestra.

9.

Ponga un adhesivo 3M Scotch Grip 847 o equivalente en la cubierta del bastidor de engranajes antes de la instalación.

EJE DE LA RUEDA DENTADA DE LA CUCHILLA

1.

Siga los pasos 1 a 6 de la sección del eje de la polea.

2.

Afloje el tornillo de fijación del brazo de mando izquierdo C y sáquelo del eje.

3.

Afloje el tornillo de fijación del montaje excéntrico

D y sáquelo.

4.

Quite los dos (2) tornillo superiores que sujetan el otro brazo lateral. Ahora podrá quitar el brazo lateral, el brazo del eje y el brazo de mando sacando el brazo.

5.

Quite el montaje excéntrico y los dos alojamientos de los cojinetes E. Coloque un recipiente debajo de la parte trasera del alojamiento para recoger el aceite de la cavidad del alojamiento.

6.

Empuje el eje a la izquierda del alojamiento, levante y saque el borde derecho del eje del alojamiento sin tocar los cojinetes ni la rueda dentada.

7.

Para quitar la rueda dentada, empuje el cojinete del eje y saque la rueda dentada.

NOTA: La holgura longitudinal no debe ser mayor de

0,127 mm y debe girar libremente cuando se aprieten los alojamientos de los cojinetes.

8.

Monte invirtiendo el procedimiento anterior.

Después de instalar el desplazador de la cuchilla, ajuste el embrague por dientes para tener una separación de 0,39 mm entre las caras del embrague, tal y como se muestra.

9.

Ponga un adhesivo 3M Scotch Grip 847 o equivalente en la cubierta del bastidor de engranajes antes de la instalación.

EJE DE ENGRANAJES DE LA POLEA TENSORA

1.

Quite las protecciones de la correa.

2.

Siga los pasos 2 a 6 de la sección de desmontaje de la cadena de transmisión.

3.

Quite el tapón del lado derecho de la unidad.

4.

Quite la arandela de presión C de la ranura por el engranaje pequeño B a la izquierda del eje A.

5.

Mueva el engranaje pequeño B a la izquierda

(desde la posición del operador) del bastidor.

6.

Saque el eje A del lado derecho del bastidor hasta que el engranaje grande deje libre el eje para poder sacarlo.

7.

Quite el pasador del eje y saque las arandelas de presión C del borde del eje.

8.

El engranaje pequeño B saldrá cuando se quite el eje del bastidor de engranajes.

9.

Monte invirtiendo el procedimiento anterior. Ponga un adhesivo 3M Scotch Grip 847 o equivalente en la cubierta del bastidor de engranajes antes de la instalación.

LUBRICACION

La caja de engranajes se llena inicialmente con

1,7 l de lubricante para engranajes EP 140. No añada más cantidad a menos que cambie el aceite o haya fugas. Tapón de vaciado de la caja de engranajes D.

Utilice un buen grado de lubricante con base de litio en todos los accesorios de lubricación a presión.

El Jr. Sodcutter tiene 6 accesorios de lubricación.

Lubrique los brazos de mando (1 a cada lado) y los brazos laterales (1 a cada lado) cada 4 horas de utilización.

Lubrique los pivotes de los brazos laterales (1 a cada lado - parte superior de la unidad) cada 8 horas de utilización.

Compruebe el nivel de lubricante de la caja de engranajes utilizando la varilla de medición E situada en la parte superior de la caja de engranajes. Compruebe la lubricación con la varilla de medición descansando sobre las roscas, no la apriete hacia dentro.

CAMBIO Y AJUSTE DE LA CINTA DEL FRENO

1.

Quite la protección de la correa.

2.

Quite la cinta del freno vieja del Jr. Sodcutter.

Guarde las piezas.

3.

Instale la cinta del freno nueva con el bucle grande y las piezas en el punto de montaje inferior (en la barra de apoyo de la protección).

4.

Afloje la tuerca de fijación y el tornillo de ajuste de la cinta del freno nueva. Active la palanca del freno apriete el tornillo de ajuste hasta que la cinta del freno quede encajada contra la correa.

Apriete la tuerca de fijación en el tornillo de ajuste del freno. Realice una prueba. Pare el motor y vuelva a ajustar la cinta del freno si es necesario.

5.

Vuelva a instalar la protección de la correa utilizando piezas originales.

NOTA: Asegúrese de que el pasador abierto no interfiera con la correa de transmisión.

Es necesario realizar ajustes rutinarios en la cinta del freno debido al desgaste de la banda y la correa.

Si la cinta del freno no está correctamente acoplada al eslabón de control del embrague, el brazo secundario girará hacia atrás alejándose de la correa y no producirá transmisión.

ADVERTENCIA

Para evitar una posible explosión o incendio del combustible vaporizado, no almacene el equipo con combustible en el depósito o el carburador cerca de llamas (por ejemplo, un horno o una lámpara indicadora de calentador de agua).

Encienda el motor y déjelo funcionar hasta que se agote el combustible del recipiente de flotador del carburador.

Cuando el motor esté caliente, vacíe el aceite del cárter y rellénelo con el peso adecuado de aceite aconsejable para la temporada en el que se volverá a utilizar el equipo.

1. Compruebe diariamente el nivel de aceite del motor y el elemento del filtro de aire.

Quite la bujía y ponga un poco de aceite de motor en el cilindro. Gire unas cuantas veces la cubierta del motor para distribuir el aceite.

2. Compruebe el nivel de aceite de la caja de engranajes.

Limpie la cuchilla de corte (hierba, suciedad, etc.).

Lubrique los accesorios de lubricación.

Cierre la válvula de combustible en la parte inferior del depósito de combustible.

Limpie el aceite que haya en la cuchilla de corte para que no se oxide.
