SECTION 1

Machine description and characteristics

1.1 GENERAL INFORMATION

This manual contains information considered necessary for the knowledge, good use and routinemaintenance of the «TZ OPTIC FIBER 400 - IN-

NOMINABILE» , which will be referred to hence forth as the machine, produced by the GARBIN

GROUP Srl di Malo (Vicenza) Italy, hereinafter also known as the manufacturer.

That written does not constitute a complete description of the various working parts nor does it offer a detailed presentation with regard to its operation, the user will however find everything necessary for its safe use and for the proper maintenance of the machine.

WARNING

This manual is an integral part of the machine and should be stored for easy and immediate reference.

1.2 WARRANTY

The Manufacturer guarantees its products as being new from the factory for a period of 12 (twelve) months from the date of delivery. Please verify, upon receipt, that the machine is undamaged and complete. Any complaints must be submitted in writing within 8 (eight) days of receipt of the machine. The warranty is will only be valid for the free repair or replacement of those parts, which after careful examination by the manufacturer’s technical office, appear to be defective (with the exclusion of tools and lubricants).

The replacement or repair of parts in warranty will not in any case extend the terms thereof. The buyer can nevertheless assert his rights only if he has complied with the conditions relating to the provision of the warranty, as referred to in the supply contract.

1.2.1 EXCLUSION FROM WARRANTY

The warranty is void (in addition to that indicated in the supply contract):

- If the damage occurs as a result of an error caused by the operator.

- If the damage was due to poor maintenance.

- If, damage is caused as a result of repairs performed by the user himself without the prior consent of the manufacturer or due to the assembly of nonoriginal parts, or if the machine should be subject to variation and that damage can be attributed to these variations.

- If instructions from this manual have not been followed.

Damage caused by neglect, abuse, misuse and improper use of the machine are also excluded from the guarantee.

WARNING

Removal of safety devices, of which the machine is equipped, will void the warranty automatically together with the responsibilities of the manufacturer.

Returned goods, even under warranty, must be sent back carriage paid.

1.3 IDENTIFICATION

Each machine is equipe with an identification plate

(1 Fig. 1), which shows:

- The Manufacturer’s name and address;

- «CE» markings;

- A) Denomination: Excavator disc;

- B) Chassis number*;

- C) Rated output in kW;

- D) Type/Model*;

- E) Year of construction*;

- F) Weight in Kg.

The identification data (*) shown on the machine’s plate machine, must always be cited for any requests for spare parts and/or interventions.

The machine comes standard with:

- User and maintenance manual for the machine.

- User and maintenance manual for the engine.

- CE declaration of conformity.

- Electric system diagram.

- Hydraulic system diagram.

- Use and maintenance manual for the remote control.

1.4 PURPOSE OF THE MANUAL

This manual has been prepared by the machine manufacturer and is an integral part of the machine which must always accompany it in every transfer or resale. This manual defines the purpose for which the machine was built, establishing the correct application and the limits of use and must be maintained in a safe place recognized by staff. It is the responsibility of the same personnel to conserve it and keep it intact in order for it to be consulted, throughout the lifetime of the machine.

Should it be damaged or lost, users must immediately request a copy from the Manufacturer.

1.4.1 SUBJECTS TO WHOM THE MA-

NUAL IS ADDRESSED

This manual is a basic tool for staff at various levels, who are responsible for the machine in a variety of tasks, such as:

- Those assigned to the transport and handling of the machine;

- Workers assigned to the various processes;

- Maintenance workers;

- Those responsible for the machine’s final demolition.

Before proceeding with the various operations, workers listed above, must read the manual and store it carefully.

1.5 MACHINE DESCRIPTION

The remote controlled trencher «TZ OPTIC FIBER

400 - INNOMINABILE» produced by GARBIN

GROUP Srl, is an «CE» marked machine in accordante with the regulations of the European Union described in the EC directives:

- Directive 2006/42/EC and subsequent modifications and (Machine directive).

- 2000/14/EC and subsequent amendments and additions concerning the noise emission in the en-

As shown in the statement of compliance with which each machine is equipped.

This machine has been designed to be used on construction, road and trade sites and industrial work areas that have been demarcated in accordance with the relevant health and safety legislation of the country where it is used.

It should only be used for the excavation of channels (trenches) for drainage, installation of cables, pipes or for the planting of plants, flowers or shrubs, on soils of various structures, also very hard and compact, and with various depths and widths for the different types of excavation, in respect of the technical specifications provided.

All functions of the machine and the various working phases, are handled by an operator on the ground, via a remote radio control. This control system allows the operator a wider view and safer operating area, with interventions more immediate and total control of the work area and more attentive to potential dangers that may arise.

The driving force is providing by an Yanmar

3TNV88 diesel engine (see engine manual).

A hydraulic system supplies the two motors of the crawler chassis for the advancement and the various functions of the disc excavator such as lifting, lowering and rotation of the disc excavator. The operation of excavation takes place through the lowering of the rotating disc which is inserted in the ground to a predetermined depth. A single licensed

Operator, in possession of the necessary requirements, can operate the machine by remote control.

The sound level (airborne noise) was perceived with the engine running at full speed, running freely, according to EN ISO 3746/1996 standards and found:

SECTION 2

Safety and prevention

2.1 GENERAL INFORMATION

The user agrees to train staff on risks related to accidents, on the devices set up for operator safety and on the rules of accident of prevention foreseen by the directives and current legislation.

When implementing a new machine, the manufacturer has tried to foresee all possible situations of danger and naturally to adopt appropriate protection.

However the number of accidents remains at a very high level due to imprudent and clumsy use of the various machines. Distraction, carelessness and over confidence are often the cause of accidents, as is fatigue and drowsiness.

Both the user and the operator in charge are obliged to comply with the general rules of Safety and accident prevention at all times.

Pay attention to the warning signs in this manual. They indicate possible situations of danger.

Dangers can be of three levels:

The «DANGER» sign at the highest level warns that if operations are not correctly performed, they can cause serious injury, death or longterm risks to health.

The «WARNING» sign warns that if the operations described are not correctly performed, these can cause serious injury, death or longterm risks to health.

The «CAUTION» sign warns that if the operations described are not performed properly, these can cause damage to the machine and/or to the person.

2.1.1 TERMINOLOGY USED

Specific people and situations are described below that may directly be involved with the machine and/ or persons who are in direct contact with the same machine.

• USER: The user is the person or entity who bought or leased the machine and who intends using it for the purpose it was designed.

• DANGER AREA: Any area within and/or around the machinery in which the presence of a person constitutes a risk to the safety and health of that person.

• UNPROTECTED PERSON: Anyone who finds themselves either totally or partially in a danger area.

• OPERATOR: Person responsible for operating, adjusting, maintaining, cleaning, repairing and transporting the machine.

• SPECIALIST: As such they are intended as those who are specially trained and authorized to perform maintenance or repairs that require specific knowledge of the machine, how it works, the safety devices, methods of intervention and who are able to recognize the dangers arising from the use of the machine therefore being able to avoid them

DANGER

The operating instructions must be read, stored and maintained throughout the life of the machine until it is dismantled.

If the manual is lost or damaged, a copy should be immediately requested from the Manufacturer.

Failure to comply as described in “Section 2 -

Safety and prevention” and any tampering with the safety devices, relieves the Manufacturer from any responsibility in case of accident, damage or malfunction of the machine.

2.2 GENERAL SAFETY STANDARDS

WARNING

- The manufacturer disclaims any and all liability for failure to comply with safety and prevention in this manual. Disclaims any responsibility for damage caused by the improper use of the machine or from modifications carried out on it without authorisation.

It is necessary to consider that in taking the risk of improper use the user must also assume liability for the consequences.

- Safety should always be the priority objective of

TZ OPTIC FIBER 400 INNOMINABILE the operator. The machine must not be if it is not safe or in poor operating conditions. Always perform a preliminary inspection of the machine before using it.

- The user agrees to entrust the machine exclusively to qualified personnel who have been trained for the purpose.

- It is forbidden for anyone to drive or operate the machine if they have not read and assimilated the contents of this manual, including incompetent staff, who are not in good physical and mental health and who are under the age of 18 years.

- It is the user’s responsibility to take all appropriate measures to prevent unauthorized people from using the machine.

- The user agrees to adequately inform staff with regard to the application and compliance of safety requirements.

- The user must inform the Manufacturer in the event he uncovers defects or malfunctions in the safety systems or of any situation where there is alleged danger.

- The operator must use the individual means of protection under the law and follow the instructions in this manual at all times.

- The operator must abide by all the danger and caution markings on the machine.

- The operator should not perform any intervention or operation under his own initiative that is not his responsibility.

- The machine has only been tested with the standard package. The assembly of parts from other manufacturers or any changes can alter the characteristics of the machine and thus impair the operational safety.

Use original spare parts at all times.

- The machine must not be operated with guards removed or if it is partially damaged.

- The machine should not be operated in enclosed environments or if there is a risk of explosion or fire.

- The machine can only be operated in daylight hours.

- Operations and adjustments on the machine must always be performed when the machine is idle with the engine switched off.

- IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO LEAVE OR

ABANDON THE MACHINE WHILE THE ENGINE

IS RUNNING.

- Before commencing any work, check for underground power cables, pipelines or other hazards in the excavation area.

- Wear suitable clothing. Avoid wearing loose clothing which could catch in the moving parts. Long hair should be tied up. The operator should also avoid carrying sharp tools in his pockets.

- During maintenance and repair the use of protective clothing, safety gloves, sturdy shoes and crush is required.

- Before starting the machine, check the integrity of all the safety devices.

- Before starting work for the first time, familiarize yourself with the controls and their functions.

- The area in which the machine is used is to be considered a ‘danger zone’, especially for those not trained in its use.

- Before starting the machine, check that all around the work area there are no persons or animals or obstructions of any kind.

- When a person is exposed to danger, that he is in the «Danger zone», the operator must immediately intervene by stopping the machine and removing the person in question.

- Should the protective casings be removed, please ensure that they are correctly restored before using the machine.

- Observe the conformity of recommended oils.

Keep lubricants outside of the reach of children.

Carefully read the instructions and safety warnings on the lubricant containers. Wash thoroughly after use.

- Once maintenance and repairs are complete and before restarting the machine, make sure that the work is completed, that the safety devices have been reactivated and that the guards have been replaced.

- When working on soft ground, near drop-offs, ditches or slopes proceed with caution to avoid any tilting of the machine.

- Never touch parts whilst in movement or place things between them (especially the toothed disc) maintaining a safe distance.

- It is strictly forbidden to remove or tamper with the safety devices.

- Read and understand the instructions ot the operating machine and, in particular, the safety information.

2.3 WARNING SIGNS

The machine has been designed adopting all possible safety standards for the protection of those using it. Nevertheless there may be additional risks, some of which are reported on the machine with the adhesive warning signs (pictograms) that indicate the various situations of insecurity and danger in essential form.

Figure 4 shows the position in which these pictograms are positioned. It is necessary to keep them clean and replace them immediately if they become loose or damaged.

When replacing damaged or missing safety stickers, position them in the same location provided.

With reference to Figure 4, please read that described below and memorize its meaning.

1) Wear close-fitting clothes without straps that could get caught in moving parts. During working hours, wear reflective clothing.

2) When the machine is working , protect your head properly with a helmet.

3) Wear protective cut-resistant gloves.

4) When at work, wear ear muffs.

5) When working, wear protective shoes with reinforced toes which are non-slip.

6) Connection points for lifting the machine.

7) Direction of rotation of the toothed disc, the right side.

8) Direction of rotation of the toothed disc , the left side.

9) During work, make sure that outsiders are at a safe distance and out of range of the excavator.

10) Hot surfaces are a burn hazard. Before working on the engine, wait until the hot parts cool down.

11) Adjustment and maintenance must be carried out but only after reading the instruction manual, with the machine idle and the engine switched off.

12) There is danger of injury to the upper limbs.

Keep a safe distance from the machine.

13) Blunt objects may be propelled while the machine is operational. Keep a safe distance.

14) There is danger of injury to the lower limbs.

Keep a safe distance from the machine.

2.4 ECOLOGY AND POLLUTION

- Comply with the laws in force with regard to the use and disposal of products used for the cleaning and maintenance of the machine as well as observing the manufacturers recommendations of such products.

- Keep the labels and instructions of the products used in case of ingestion of fluids or other chemical substances, etc. immediately contact the

“Emergency Room” having these labels or instructions to hand.

- Comply with the laws in force in the country where the machine is used, regarding the use and disposal of products used for cleaning and maintenance. Dispose of any waste through the appropriate authorized companies obtaining a receipt of disposal.

- In the case of dismantling the machine, please follow the anti-pollution regulations foreseen in the country of use.

SECTION 3

Handling and Transporting the Machine

3.1 HANDLING he machine can be easily transported over long distances, with appropriate means of transport: trucks, trailers, railway wagons, etc.

DANGER

Loading and unloading operations of the machine may be very dangerous if not carried out with the utmost attention. When the machine is lifted and moved, it is necessary to clear the area of unauthorized personnel, and to clear and delimit the area, checking the integrity and suitability of the means available. It is also necessary to ensure that the area of operation is clear and that there is an” escape area”, that is an area that is free and safe, in which the operator can move quickly if the machine were to fall.

These operations must only be carried out by staff that are trained and qualified in this type of operation.

3.1.1 LOADING AND TRASPORTING

THE MACHINE

Before proceeding with the loading operation, check the vehicle available for such carriage is suitable and has the ability to carry the weight of the machine.

Please consult paragraph “1.8 Technical details” in this regard for the size and weight of the machine.

This data is also useful for controlling the possibility of transit of the machine to narrow or restricted areas.

WARNING

During handling, the operator must use appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, safety shoes, glasses, etc.).

After having ensured the above, please proceed with loading.

- The machine can be loaded or unloaded from a transport plane, with a crane or bridge crane, move the machine by hooking it to the four brackets, with tie rods or chains arranged in order, as shown in

Figure 5.

- Ensure that the area in which you make the load has compact soil and is flat and dry.

- The platform on which you want to load the machine must be perfectly level to avoid possible movement.

- Check that the loading platform is not damaged.

Should the platform appear insecure, too weak or unstable, do not load the machine.

- Check that both the loading equipment and the means of transport are in good condition and suitable for the load.

- After loading the machine and loosening the tie rods or chains that were used to lift it, fix the machine with the suitable tie-rods to the anchor points of the loading platform.

After transport and before releasing the machine from all constraints, verify that the status and position of the machine does not constitute a risk.

Then remove the ropes, strains and proceed to the discharge with the same means and methods, used for loading in reverse.

SECTION 4

Use

4.1 PRIMA DELL’USO

WARNING

Before starting the machine, the operator must have read and understood all parts of this booklet (as well as the engine manual) and in particular that written in «Section 2 - Safety and prevention ».

Furthermore, before starting work, ensure that the machine is in good working order and that all parts that are subject to wear and tear, are fully efficient.

DANGER

Before starting the excavator, check that there are no oil leaks; if so, thoroughly clean and dry.

4.1.1 CONTROLS

The excavator is controlled by a portable radio control (Fig. 6), which controls/remotely controls the various functions of the machine. It is also equipped with a control panel on the hood (Fig. 8).

DANGER

During the work, the operator must always bear the remote control in the shoulder strap and must not leave the working machine more than ten meters and the machine shall be continuously and fully visible.

Description of the controls on the portable console

(Fig. 6):

1) Emergency Stop Button: pressing this button, the machine disables all functions and switches off immediately. Also the radio control turns off.

3) Start button: This button activates the radio frequency. Once the radio control is on by means of the selector switch (2), press the button until a beep confirms the communication between the radio remote control and the receiver inside the bonnet. The speed control switch (4 fig. 6) must be at minimum to have the connection between the radio control and the receiver.

4 ) Speed Control Switch: this switch controls the speed during work and transfer.

5) RPM lever: throttle control of the motor.

Pushing lever forward (8A), the motor increases the number of revolutions. Pulling the lever toward you (8B), the engine speed decreases.

6) Steering knob (steering): this knob controls the left or right steering.

7) Motion Joystick: Track Moving Lever: By moving the lever forward the machine advances straight, moving it backwards the machine reverse.

8) Steering Joystick: once you have advanced or reverse, pull the joystick in the direction you want to go and the machine will turn. Moving it to the left or right, the machine performs the opposite rotation of the tracks in the direction in which it moves and rotates on itself.

9) Saw button: To start the rock saw.

Pushing the button, the cutting disc starts to rotate

10) Protection lever (protection): command for bulkhead adjustment

11) Swivelling disc lever: By pressing this lever the disc will swive right and / or left. This lever coupled to the steering knob (6) allows the machine to perform a curve

12) Saw lever (cutting disc): command for lifting or lowers the disc.

13) Battery level indicator: indicates the charge level of the radio remote control battery

14) Stop disc button: This button stops the rotation of the disc

4.2 ON WORK

4.2.1 PRECAUTIONS BEFORE START-UP

WARNING

‘Section 2’ describes the general safety standards.

In addition to the information shown in this sec-tion, it is essential that the operator reads and stores what described below.

• The start-up of the machine must be on level ground and with disc raised.

• During the handling of the machine (even for short trips), it is mandatory to keep the toothed disc lifted from the ground (at least 10 cm from-the ground) so as to ensure the stability of the-machine.

• Use extreme caution during refueling opera-tions.

Avoid filling the tank with the engine run-ning. Avoid smoking or open flames. Do not o-verfill the tank. If this happens, wipe immedia-tely. If necessary, use a funnel to avoid drips. Carefully tighten the cap of the tank when the supply is completed.

• It is not recommended to use the machine indoors, but, if it was really necessary, before starting the machine make sure there is adequa-te ventilation.

Exhaust fumes can kill.

• Before starting, check all the tools, indicators and warning lights. Check all safety devices ma-king sure that everything is working properly.

• Adjust the speed according to the ground conditions. Watch out for obstacles. Bypass any rocks and stumps.

• Avoid crossing rails, excavations, crests or edges.

If the crossing cannot be avoided, slow down and proceed with a certain angle than the obstacle. Avoid yielding docks, potholes and steep slopes.

• During operation, the machine can throw sto-nes and/or blunt objects to a certain distance.

Remove any objects or pets that are within ran-ge of the machine.

• Starting a new dig, move the excavation disc with extreme caution. The speed of the tool must be reduced.

At the beginning, the tool will tend to drag the machine. It is necessary that the operator is pre-pared to counter these snags.

• If you leave dropping suddenly the excavation-disc on the ground, this is extremely dangerous.

This may cause sudden deviations or displacements of the machine.

• It is recommended to work when the machine is on the floor, but, if it becomes necessary to work on slopes, be especially careful about the possible overturning of the machine.

• Always ensure the stability of the machine. Vibration can drag the machine to the steep slope.

• Never try to steer during operation. With the disc in the ground, any hint of curve should be dealt with cautiously.

• During the excavation, if the machine hits something, advances with difficulty or sudden jams, stop the machine and inspect the inside of the excavation and the conditions of the tool.

• IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO RELEASE THE

DISC WHILE THE MACHINE IS ON. TURN OFF

THE ENGINE BEFORE REMOVING ANY OBSTA-

CLES.

Use extreme caution when operating on public roads open to traffic. It is necessary to keep in mind the braking capacity of the machine and adjust accordingly the speed.

• Comply with all signs and regulations in force. Approach intersections with caution. Change direction with caution. A too fast turn can cause the reversal of the machine.

• When finished, always park the machine in an area used for that function.

Make sure the ground below is stable. Do not park on soft sand or rough ground.

If possible, park in a plane. Lower the excavation disc and block the tracks.

• In case of failure and if the machine does not work or you were to leave it temporarily parked, it is necessary to provide the appropriate fen-ces, blinkers and danger lights.

4.2.2 START UP

The start-up of the machine must be on the level ground and with the disc raised.

CAUTION

During the handling of the machine (even for short trips), it is mandatory to keep the toothed disc lifted from the ground (at least 20 cm from the ground) so as to ensure the stability of the machine.

You may not start-up the transmitter in places that do not allow the complete visibility of the machine operated by the radio control. Activating the transmitter indoors or however far from the receiver, you cannot have a real awareness of the maneuvers that are being executed, thereby resulting in a dangerous situation.

If the work is suspended, albeit briefly, the control unit must be turned off and the ignition key must be removed from the transmitter, to prevent its use by unauthorized persons.

WARNING

After having found that:

- The machine is in perfect running order;

- The engine oil level is correct. Read what shown in the instruction manual attached;

- All guards are intact and in their place;

- The hydraulic oil in the tank of the machine is at the right level and of the type recommended;

- The diesel fuel in the tank is at the right level;

- All parts subject to wear and tear are in perfect working order, in particular, in the state of wear of the tools.

Following the safety instructions in this manual, you can start operating.

After removal of any foreign particles within the range of the machine, and bounded the operational area, proceed with the start-up in the following way:

1) Start the battery with the appropriate key (C Fig.

8/bis)

2) Check that the STOP button (1 Fig. 6) is off and

3) Place the selector on the I (2 Fig. 6).

4) Put the speed control to minimum (4 fig. 6)

5) Insert the key on the machine ignition switch and rotate it to the left, wait until the glow plug light (B Fig. 8) goes off and then rotate the key to the right without stating the engine

6) Press the start button (3 Fig. 6) until an acoustic signal confirms the connection between the radio remote control and the receiver

7) Turn right the ignition key (A Fig. 8), the diesel engine will start.

The driving of the machine (feed, reverse, left and right) is done via the joystick levers (7-8 Fig. 8).

WARNING

After start-up, perform vacuum movements to verify the correct operation of each command.

If you should notice any abnormality, stop the engine immediately and call the Security

Manager.

4.2.3 ON WORK

With the machine on, use the saw button to start the rotation of the rock saw (9 Fig. 6)

Using the Lever Raise / Lower Disk (12 Fig. 6),

WARNING

The contact with the ground should be gradual.

Do not lower the disc with violence, you could damage the tools.

While lowering the disc it is mandatory to remove the trench cleaner, you can put it again after the first 20/30 cm of excavation

When the excavator disc is excavating, it is important that the slides ( 31 fig. 1 - pag.6 ) are at very contact with the ground. During the first few minutes of work, do not use the machine at peak performance. Avoid exa-sperated exploitation of the engine.

During the first few minutes of work, do not use the machine at maximum performance. Avoid engine exploitation.

WARNING

The steering should only be done with the excavator disc completely above ground.

The machine swerves with the accessory, but very gently and without jolts, otherwise the disc and above all the sectors wear prematurely. The speed of advance is given, in particular, by the type of soil.

4.3

MACHINE STOP

After the work cycle and before moving to other areas of operation, you must:

1) Raise the cutting disc from the ground wire of at least 20 centimeters.

2) Stop the rotation of the disc

3) Move and park the machine on a compact and flat ground

4) Decelerate, bringing the engine to the idle position.

5) Return the machine to the initial condition and press the STOP button (7 Fig. 6) of the panel so that if you accidentally start the rate, the disc does not rotate.

6) Turn and remove the ignition key (A Fig. 8).

7) Remove the battery key (B Fig. 8/bis)

Now, the operating machine is completely free and can be moved to other areas.

4.4 BATTERY CHARGER

The recharge of the batteries (Fig. 10) must be performed in premises devoid of moisture and at a temperature comprised between 5°C and 45°C, so as to preserve the battery life.

The power plug of the charger should be installed near the equipment and be easily accessible.

In case of DC voltage supply, the connection between the charger and the power must not be of

Fig. 10 /bis- Remote control battery the “fixed” type. In such case, provide with a connector that allows disconnecting the device at any time.

WARNING

There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by one with the incorrect type: use only original batteries. Dispose of used batteries in accordance with the applicable regulations and bring them in the appropriate collection centers.

4.5 TOOLS

The tools installed on the disc are called peak (1

Fig. 11) and consist of a steel body molded in hi-

1) Tool to peak - 2) Seeger ring ghcarbon on which it is inserted in the hard metal tip sintered at very high hardness; in this way you get a tool with exceptional durability and service life, even in the toughest conditions. Ideal on very dry and/or stony ground.

They are all the same and are locked in place with a Seeger ring (2 Fig. 11).

4.6 SET-ASIDE

If you plan a long period of inactivity, in order to keep the machine intact in its organs, it is necessary to park the machine on a firm, flat surface and within a protected area, in order to prevent unauthorized outsiders can approach indoor and do the following:

- Thoroughly wash the machine above ground and then dry;

- Check that the machine is in perfect condition and replace worn or broken parts;

- Protect all unpainted metal parts with lubricants, then cover the machine with a sheet of plastic and put it in a dry place.

If these operations are carried out carefully, the advantage will be of those who will use the machine upon return to work.

5.1 GENERAL INFORMATION

WARNING

Routine maintenance is a set of periodic tasks and predefined times to maintain the functionality of the machine in all its aspects as a result of wear and use.

It should be remembered that the lowest cost of operation and long service life of the machine depend on the observance of the instructions in this manual.

CAUTION

For extraordinary maintenance operations which are not covered in this manual, please contact the Manufacturer.

DANGER

BEFORE PROCECEEDING WITH ANY FORM OF

MAINTENANCE, PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE

MACHINE IS POSITIONED ON A FLAT SURFA-

CE AND THAT IT IS COMPLETELY LOCKED.

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT SUCH OPERA-

TIONS BE CARRIED OUT IN A SUITABLY E-

QUIPPED WORKSHOP.

MAINTENANCE OPERATORS SHOULD HAVE

THE EXPERTISE NECESSARY FOR THE OPE-

RATIONS REQUIRED.

THEY MUST COMPULSORILY WEAR PROTEC-

TIVE EQUIPMENT (GLOVES, SAFETY SHOUS,

GLASSES, ETC.).

The protective guards and/or casings removed to perform maintenance or cleaning must be reassembled at the end of each intervention, in their original position.

5.1.1 RECOMMENDATIONS

Before starting any maintenance operation, please read «Section 2: Safety and Prevention» and follow the warnings and cautions listed below.

Maintenance

WARNING

- Keep lubricants out of the reach of children.

- Carefully read the instructions and precautions indicated on the containers of lubricants.

- After use, wash thoroughly.

- Handle the used oils and lubricants in accordante with the anti-pollution legal provisions of the country in which the machine is operated.

- Do not swallow lubricants/fluids. In case of accidental contact with the eyes, rinse the interested part well with cold water and if necessary, visit the emergency room.

- Do not use lifting points other than those prescribed.

- Ensure that the lifting device chosen is suitable to perform operations in accordance with the safety standards.

- During all cleaning operations, ensure that there is adequate ventilation to prevent accumulation of toxic vapours.

- Do not weld indoors or in inadequately ventilated environments.

- Do not weld on painted surfaces, so as to prevent the development of toxic vapours. Remove paint with suitable products, then wash the surfaces and allow to dry.

5.2 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

Periodically, perform full-washing of the machine and thoroughly clean all parts.

After each wash, it is necessary to lubricate all parts subject to friction.

CAUTION

Annex 2 on page 27, shows the maintenance register. All interventions must be registered .

5.2.1 AFTER THE FIRST 8 HOURS

During the initial period of the machine’s lifetime, it will undergo a general adjustment of the various mechanical parts, it is therefore essential to carry out checks on the machine with the highest accuracy.

Each new machine then, must be checked after the first 8 hours of operation, taking care to verify:

- the tightness of all nuts and bolts;

- the correct oil level in the hydraulic oil tank;

- absence of leakage of oil from the hydraulic components;

- correct lubrication of components where there is motion or rotation;

- that the parts match the requirements established by the Manufacturing company. Only use original spare parts.

5.3

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

OPERATION

Every 4 hours of work :

- Grease the center bearing of support (1 Fig. 12).

Use AGIP MU/P1 or equivalent grease.

Every 8 hours of work :

- Check the proper tightness of all fasteners. In particular, check the tightening of the screws of the slides (29 Fig. 1 - page 6).

- Check the wear of the tools and, if worn or broken, replace them (see Section 5.3.1).

The distance between the outer peak and the slide must be between 1 cm and a maximum of 1.5 cm

(fig. 13A)

- Also check the disc welding overlay (fig. 13B), if worn, make welding sections with Gridur S-600 or equivalent.

- With special pump, grease the points on the ma- chine (Fig. 11) on both sides.

Use AGIP MU/P1 or equivalent grease. periodically:

- Grease the points on the machine (3 Fig. 12).

CAUTION

Before injecting grease into the nipples, you must carefully clean the greasing fittings to prevent mud, dust or foreign bodies mix with the grease, decreasing, or even cancelling the effect of lubrication.

5.3.1 REPLACING THE TOOLS WITH

SEEGER RING

Regularly check the wear of the “peak tools” (Fig.

13). If they are too worn or broken, you must replace them by sliding them from the seat and removing the Seeger ring (3 Fig. 13) and replace it with a new one.

Reinsert a Seeger ring again after positioning the tool correctly.

If during the maintenance of the teeth you should find that the “peak-holder” sector is worn out, contact an authorized dealer for the appropriate action.

5.3.2

R E P L A C I N G T H E T O O L S

WITHOUT SEEGER RING

Some machines can be equipped with tools without seeger rings. To replace them proceed as follow (see fig. 13C)

5.4

OIL AND HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

Periodically check that there are no oil leaks from the piping connections.

Also check the integrity of the hoses, that there are no cuts or wear that can affect the operation of the machine.

For any replacement of the hoses, consult the authorized and adequately equipped workshops.

WARNING

During maintenance operations, strictly avoid environmental pollution. Dispose of waste in accordance with local re-gulations.

5.4.1 REPLACING THE HYDRAULIC OIL

- Every 8 hours of work, check the oil level in the tank, through the control light (5 Fig. 14). This check must be carried out under cold condition and the correct level must be on the center of the indicator.

- After the first 100 hours, replace the filter cartridge (4 fig. 14). The cartridge is then replaced every 1000 hours or when the pressure gauge (1 fig. 14) indicates clogging of the filter.

- After 1000 hours complete replacement of the hydraulic oil, using HYDRAULIC OIL ISO 46, or other type with equal or superior characteristics.

Drain the oil inside the tank and drain it out of the drain plug (6 Fig. 14) under the tank.

During this operation, put under the drain plug a tray for the collection of the oil that will flow. Dispose of waste oil in accordance with the regulations in force.

For the introduction of the new oil:

- tighten the drain plug (6 Fig. 14);

- remove the 3 screws that secure the cover (2 Fig.

14) and remove the cover;

- unscrew the cap (3 Fig. 14) located on the top of the filter, replace the filter cartridge (4 Fig. 14). Introduce the new oil from the filter through the just replaced cartridge.

- Only use original grade filter cartridges filtration of 25 micon and oil already filtered at least 10 micron.

5.5 CINGOLI

WARNING

• When performing maintenance with the tracked trolley raised, it is absolutely necessary that the machine and the tracked trolley are supported and locked securely.

• If you are working on the hydraulic system, be very careful because the oil is very hot after work.

• Ensure that the high pressure is present in the system, not only during work but also when the work was completed.

• The periodic maintenance intervals are for normal working conditions. If you work in harsh conditions, maintenance should be intensified.

5.5.3 TENSIONING THE TRACKS

Regularly check the tension of the tracks acting as described below.

After bringing the machine on a firm and leveled surface, lift the machine in safety conditions placing well stable supports under the under-trolley frame able to support the assembly.

CE. LATER, THE TENSIONING OF THE TRACK

MUST BE PERFORMED DURING ANY ROUTINE

MAINTENANCE OF THE MACHINE.

5.5.2 TRACK ADJUSTMENT

To loosen or stretch the track, you must:

1) Remove the screws and remove the cover (1

Fig. 15) for access to the regulation.

2) Remove the stop (2 Fig. 16)

3) Adjust the nut so that the distance between it and the spring end (points 3 and 5 Fig. 16) is 3 cm

4) With the track tensioned, load the spring by 5/6 mm

5) Remount the stop and the cover

When gravel or mud are interlocked between the toothed wheel and the track links, remove them before any operation on the track.

If the track tension is still insufficient after adjustment, the track is worn out. Contact the dealer for repairs.

5.5.3 TRACKING DISASSEMBLY

The tracks used in the «TZ FIBER 400» excavator have a structure with an internal steel core and a rubber coating (Fig. 18). The sculptures are used to provide stability when walking on soft ground.

These are located in the lower part resting on the ground, while the wheel guides located inside the track, prevent the track from coming out of the guide rollers.

An incorrect use of the machine and a use of the machine on stony and rough terrain, lead to an early wear of the tracks.

Should it be necessary to replace the tracks, operate as follows.

After bringing the machine on firm and level ground, lift the machine up of safety by placing very stable supports underneath the undercarriage frame that can support the whole.

1) Remove the screws and remove the cover (1

Fig. 15) for access to the regulation.

3) Completely loosen the nut (3 Fig. 16) bringing it closer to the stop (5 fig.16) - use a 38mm spanner

4) Insert the supplied pins. Fix the screw very well in order to avoid distortion

5) Use a tool similar to the following (not supplied), hook both pins and tighten until the track loosens

2) Remove the stop (2 Fig. 16)

6) Unscrew the toothed wheel screw

7) Grasping the toothed wheel gently pull (without use other tools) until the wheel and the track are pulled out

5.5.4 TRACK ASSEMBLY

Also for the assembly of the track it is necessary to bring the machine on a firm and level ground, lift the machine in safety conditions by placing some stable supports under the undercarriage frame able to support the whole and proceed to the assembly operations of the track .

1) Insert the track on the idler wheel of the undercarriage, then engage the track links with the toothed wheel and gently reinsert the toothed wheel onto the hydraulic motor shaft.

Take care to correctly insert the toothed wheel on the shaft, matching the two parts.

2) Fix the toothed wheel with the appropriate screw

3) Loosen and remove the clamping tool.

4) remove the pins

5) Adjust the track tension (see paragraph 5.5.2

Track tensioning).

6) Remount the cover

7) Rest the tracked undercarriage on the ground.

5.6 EXTRAORDINARY

MAINTENANCE

Extraordinary maintenance operations are not covered in this manual but must be carried out exclusively by the Manufacturer or by personnel trained and authorized by the same.

5.7 REMOTE CONTROL

For all the maintenance of the radio remote control, refer to the manufacturer's use and maintenance manual

5.8 DISMANTLING THE MACHINE

Should a decision be taken to dismantle the machine, it will be necessary to separate its components into homogeneous parts that must be disposed of separately in accordance with the local regulations regarding waste disposal.

Dispose of used lubricants and the different detergents, according to their differentiated structure.

WARNING

For disposal of the various components, only contact companies who are legally authorized and able to issue a receipt of disposal.
