Ÿ This unit plays DVDs recorded for a particular region.

The region mark on the back of the player must correspond to that on any DVD discs you wish to play.

Units sold in North America are coded for Region 1, and marked as shown:

Ÿ

Ÿ

Ÿ

Ÿ

Ÿ

This unit supports CD-R/RW discs recorded with MP3 or JPG files, and in VCD format.

MP3 files must be named with the extension “.MP3”

JPG files must be named with the extension “.JPG”

JPG images must be saved with “standard” encoding, rather than “progressive” encoding.

Discs created with personal computers may have problems playing due to differences in recording software settings, disc formats and other factors.

Ÿ

Ÿ

Ÿ

Ÿ

Ÿ

Ÿ

Hold a disc by the rim or with an index finger in the central hole. Never touch the signal surface.

Finger prints or stains on the surface of the disc may cause signal loss.

Use a soft cloth and wipe in a radiating manner from the center of the disc to the outer rims when cleaning the disc surface.

Never add labels or adhesive tapes on the discs and be careful not to scratch or damage the disc surface.

To prevent discs from becoming bent or deformed, they should be vertically kept in the disc storage case.

To prevent damage, avoid leaving discs in your car, where they may be subject to direct sunlight and high temperature.

Do not use any disc accessory to improve the audio quality, disc protective solutions or lens cleaner. These products may damage the disc surface.

Your unit has a built-in DVD player which uses a mechanical automatic SLOT-LOADING feature. There is no need for a disc tray to eject in order to load a disc. To eject, push the EJECT button next to the loading slot or on the remote control.

NOTE: Make sure you insert the disc correctly. While in front of the main unit, make sure the disc label is facing you. Be careful not to touch the playing surface. Hold the disc by the sides and with your fore finger through the hold in the middle and insert gently into the tray.

USING THE DVD SETUP MENU

Setup Menu

Parental Lock

The CHILD and OTHERS Setup Pages contains many important options for your DVD player. The

CHILD menu is where you can set a password to control the Parental Lock and Reset functions, which let you limit the play of discs beyond a rating you specify, and reset the settings and password to factory defaults, respectively. The OTHERS menu contains the FACTORY SETTING option, as well as the MNCOLOR setting, which allows you to change the color of the On-Screen Setup Menu.

Child - Levels 1-8

For Help on Using the Setup Menu, see pg 29.

Change and Cancel Password

Here is where you can change or Cancel your existing password. If you have not already entered the existing password in the Setup Menu, you are prompted for the old password. Enter the existing password for access. *If you have forgotten your password, you cannot use these options - you must reset the player to factory defaults (see below), clearing the previously entered password. After this, you can create a new password as discussed above.

Other Options - Mncolor

ENTER RETURN SETUP

The Parental Lock allows you to limit the use of your

DVD Player to only those DVD discs that do not exceed the rating you specify. When the Parental

Control is set, DVD discs that support this feature will play only after the password has been entered.

However, typically only discs produced by major entertainment companies support Parental Control.

Discs not supporting this feature will be “immune” to

Lock-Out.

When you attempt to change the Parental Control setting, you are prompted for a password. This of course makes sense, as this option would be useless if your kids could enter the Setup Menu and disable it! If there is no user password set, you’ll be prompted to enter a new password. Choose a 4-Digit numeric password and write it down in case you forget it. Key in the password and press ENTER.

After the password is set, press ENTER on the

CHILD option. You can choose from 8 levels of

Parental Control, corresponding to the standard rating system in the USA. The available levels and their equivalent ratings are listed below.

DOLBY

DVD Audio Setup -Digital-Dolby / LPCM

Most DVDs are produced with Dolby 5.1 Channel soundtracks. So, normally this setting should be at the default of DOLBY. However, this setting can be set to

LPCM to support DVDs featuring this type of audio format. LPCM, or Linear Pulse Code Modulation, is a stereo digital audio format typically used only with CD audio.

DVD Language Setup - DVD’s

The Language Setup Page allows you to change the language the player will use for the On-Screen Display

(OSD), as well as the default language for movies with multiple language tracks. Keep in mind that if the DVD you’re using does not support the language you choose, the default of the disc will be used. This also applies to Subtitle and Disc

Menu settings.

DVD Language Setup - OSD

With this setting you can change the language of the On-

Screen Display menus. This will make it easier to change other options with the Setup Menu if English is not your native language. You can select Deutch, Espanol, Italiano and Francais.

DVD Language Setup - Audio, Subtitle &

Disc Menu

You can set the player to use a preferred language for DVD

Audio Tracks, Subtitles and Menus. Of course, these settings will only take effect for DVD discs that support the language you have chosen. If the DVD discs do not support your preferred language, the default for the disc will be used instead. These menus also have the choice of a User-

Defined Option. Refer to the language codes list in

Appendix A, on page 35, to input a language not listed.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

To ensure years of enjoyment using your LCD TV, it is imperative that certain maintenance guidelines are followed. Careful and regular cleaning can extend the lifetime of your LCD TV significantly. As always, please unplug your unit before performing any maintenance procedure.

Cleaning all molded parts including cabinet, back panel, stand and remote control

Clean only with a soft dry cloth. Unplug the unit before cleaning. If a part cannot be cleaned using a dry cloth, a slightly damp cloth may be used. Do not use any liquid detergents or chemical solvents for cleaning. These may discolor the unit.

CAUTION: Make sure cloth is not dripping wet as this may seep into vital parts and cause damage to the unit.

Cleaning the LCD screen cover

1. Wet a soft cloth in a mixture of warm water (not hot!) and a little dish washing detergent.

2. Wring off excess water mixture from cloth.

3. Wipe screen from left to right, making sure water mixture does not run down the screen.

4. Let air dry for a few minutes before turning on unit.

Extended periods of non-operation

During long periods of non-operation, it is recommended that you unplug the unit from the power source. This is to minimize any chance of damage from power surges or any potential hazard during your absence.
