NOTE: Numbers in parenthesis ( ) are reference numbers for parts listed in Bill of Materials.

Installation Instructions for Kit number 222773

SYNOPSIS / PROBLEM:

This kit contains the parts needed to install a new power steering harness and electronic board on the machine listed above. This kit will correct the problem of the machine tracking to one side or the other and reduce steering sensitivity.

Please follow step-by-step instructions.

SPECIAL TOOLS / CONSIDERATIONS: 1.

Hand drill 2.

1/4 in. drill bit

(Estimated Time to complete: 2 hours)

PREPARATION:

(Refer to FIG. 1, 2, 3, and 5)

FOR SAFETY: Before leaving or servicing machine, stop on level surface and set parking brake. Then turn off machine and remove key.

1. Turn off the machine and remove the key.

2. Drain the solution from the solution tank. Raise the solution tank and engage the safety arm.

3. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery nearest the back of the machine before servicing any electrical components. (Refer to FIG. 1)

FOR SAFETY: Always disconnect battery cables from machine before working on electrical components.

4. Remove the two M8 hex screws holding the top of the instrument panel to the electrical panel. (Refer to FIG. 5)

5. Tilt the instrument panel assembly back until the lanyard strap is tight. (Refer to FIG. 5)

6. Remove the four screws holding the plastic electronics board cover to the electrical panel.

Remove the cover. (Refer to FIG. 2)

NOTE: Record which wire goes to the center terminal and which goes to the far right terminal on the power steering board.

7. Disconnect the three wires leading to the power steering board.

8. Cut any wire ties holding the wire going to the terminal on the far left. Pull that wire free.

9. Remove the power steering board from the electronics board. This is done by lifting the board off the plastic circuit board clips. (Refer to FIG. 2)

10. Remove the hex screw in the center of the power steering handle assembly.

(Refer to FIG. 3)

11. Remove the four hex screws through the side of the rear shroud that are holding the assembly in place. (Refer to FIG. 3)

12. Lift the power steering assembly up so the gear on the potentiometer can be accessed.

Remove the gear. (Refer to FIG. 3)

13. Loosen the potentiometer clamp bracket and pivot it out of the way. Remove the potentiometer from the power steering assembly. (Refer to FIG. 3)

REWORK OF INSTRUMENT PANEL:

(Refer to FIG. 4)

ATTENTION: Double check to make sure the batteries are disconnected from the machine.

1. A hole needs to be drilled in the instrument panel to mount the small potentiometer from the new harness (1). (Refer to FIG. 4)

2. With the instrument panel tilted open, locate the ejector pin mark on the right hand, middle, inside of the panel. This mark is in about the 10 o’clock position in relation to the right hand mount bolt hole. (Refer to FIG. 4)

3. Drill a 1/4 in. hole in the center of this mark. (Refer to FIG. 4)

INSTALLATION:

(Refer to FIG. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5)

ATTENTION: Double check to make sure the batteries are disconnected from the machine.

1. Adjust the large potentiometer so that the flat on the shaft faces the center of the three wires attached to the potentiometer. (Refer to FIG. 3)

2. Glue the rubber washer to the back of the larger potentiometer from the new harness (1).

This replaces the one removed in step 13. Reinstall the hardware. Do not tighten at this time. (Refer to FIG. 3)

3. Install the new power steering board (2) in place of the old one that was removed in step 9.

Gently push the new board down on the plastic circuit board clips. (Refer to FIG. 2)

4. Connect the lead wire from the new harness (1) to the left most connector on the new power steering board (2). (Refer to FIG. 2)

5. Connect the two remaining leads, that were removed in step 7, to the new power steering board (2) on the same terminal they were removed from. (Refer to FIG. 2)

6. Replace the plastic cover that was removed in step 6. (Refer to FIG. 2)

7. Install the small potentiometer from the new harness (1) in the 1/4 in. hole that was drilled in the instrument panel. (Refer to FIG. 4)

8. Adjust the smaller potentiometer to the middle of its rotation.

9. Re--connect the negative battery cable to the battery nearest the back of the machine.

(Refer to FIG. 1)

10. Turn on the machine and drive it forward checking for straight line propelling. If the machine pulls in either direction, grasp the body of the potentiometer and rotate it one way or the other until straight line propelling is obtained. Fully tighten the clamp bracket bolt and again confirm that the propelling is still straight. (Refer to FIG. 3)

11. Pivot the instrument panel assembly back to the electrical panel. Reinstall the two M8 hex screws and tighten. (Refer to FIG. 5)

NOTE: Make sure all the wires are tied up out of the way of any pinch points when pivoting the instrument panel back into position.

12. Install the new decal (3) over the small potentiometer. (Refer to FIG. 4)

13. Install the new knob (4) on the end of the small potentiometer. (Refer to FIG. 4)

14. Lower the solution tank and operate the machine, checking for proper machine operation.
