Analog/Baseband to Digital/S-Video Converter

Your RadioShack Analog/Baseband to Digital/S-Video Converter converts analog audio signal from the audio equipment to digital Toslink or

PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) signal. It also converts a standard baseband signal from your VCR to an S-Video signal for hookup to the

S-Video jack on your TV or A/V receiver, or vice versa.

Phono Jacks — let you connect audio cable with phono plugs to convert analog signal to digital signal or PCM signal.

Toslink Jack — lets you connect Toslink digital optical cable to provide interference-free and distortion-free signal transmission.

S-VHS Jack — transmits the best picture for your video.

SYNC REC OFF/ON — turn on to transmit signal to MD (Mini Disc) recorder for synchro-recording; turn off to stop.

THE FCC WANTS YOU TO KNOW

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications.

However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

OWNER’S MANUAL — Please read before using this equipment.

• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

• Consult your local RadioShack store or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

• If you cannot eliminate the interference, the FCC requires that you stop using your converter.

Changes or modifications not expressly approved by RadioShack may cause interference and void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

CONNECTION

You must power the converter using the supplied 9V, 250 mA AC adapter.

Cautions:

!

You must use a Class 2 power source that supplies 9V

DC and delivers 250 mA. Its center tip must be set to positive and its plug must fit the converter's 9V DC jack.

The supplied adapter meets these specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could damage the converter or the adapter.

• Always connect the AC adapter to the converter before you connect it to AC power. When you finish, disconnect the adapter from

AC power before you disconnect it from the converter.

Before connecting the converter to your digital audio equipment:

• Remove the plastic plug that protects the converter's OPTICAL

Toslink jack from dust and debris. Do not throw away the plastic plug. You can replace it over the jack when you are not using the converter.

• Remove the cable end protectors from the Toslink connectors on your fiber-optic cable (not supplied).

Follow these steps to connect the converter.

1. Using an audio cable, connect the output from your audio equipment (such as a CD player, radio, or cassette tape recorder) to

AUDIO L-MONO/R .

2. Connect the output from the video equipment (such as VCR or video game systems) to INPUT VIDEO .

3. Using either fiber-optic or coaxial cable, connect the optical or coaxial input of your digital audio equipment (such as an A/V receiver) to OPTICAL or PCM .

4. Using S-Video cable, connect the input of your TV or A/V receiver to S-VHS .

5. Connect the AC adapter's barrel plug to 9V DC , then connect the adapter's AC plug to a standard AC outlet.

OFF/ON to OFF .

CARE

Keep the converter dry; if it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Use and store the converter only in normal temperature environments. Handle the converter carefully; do not drop it. Keep the converter away from dust and dirt, and wipe it with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.

Modifying or tampering with the converter’s internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate its warranty and void your

FCC authorization to operate it. If your converter is not performing as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
