Contraindication: Using this monitor on patients undergoing dialysis therapy or on anticoagulants, antiplatelets, or steroids could cause internal bleeding.

to turn off the monitor.

• The monitor is not intended to be a diagnostic device.

The results are for reference only and cannot substitute for a doctor’s diagnosis. Only a healthcare professional is qualified to interpret blood pressure measurements.

• Consult your physician before using if you have any of the following conditions: advanced age, common arrhythmias (such as atrial or ventricular premature beats or atrial fibrillation), arteriosclerosis, diabetes, poor perfusion, pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, or renal diseases.

• In cases of irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), measurements made with this blood pressure monitor should only be evaluated after consulting with your healthcare professional.

• Consult your physician before using on an arm with an arterio-venous (A-V) shunt.

• Do not use the arm cuff on an arm that currently has an intravenous drip or blood transfusion.

• Keep out of reach of children and pets. The monitor may be damaged, and contains small pieces that may be swallowed, and the air hose and power cable may cause strangulation.

• Do not drape air hose around your neck.

• This monitor is intended for adults only . Consult your doctor before using this monitor on children. Do not use on infants.

• Never alter the dosages of drugs prescribed by your doctor. Blood pressure readings obtained by this monitor should be verified before prescribing or

• Make sure the monitor is working correctly and not damaged before using.

• Do not make any modifications or repairs yourself. If you have any questions, contact Customer Support

• This monitor should not be serviced or maintained while using on a patient.

• People with severe blood flow problems or blood disorders should consult a physician before using the monitor, as the arm cuff inflation can cause bruising.

• Consult your physician before using the monitor if you have had a mastectomy.

• Do not take measurements more than necessary. It may cause bruising due to blood flow interference.

• Do not use the monitor for any purpose other than measuring blood pressure.

• Do not use the monitor to check the frequency of heart pacemakers.

• Only use the approved arm cuff for this monitor.

Use of third-party arm cuffs may result in incorrect measurements.

• Do not store in any place that is tilted, vibrates, or can damage the monitor.

• Do not store near chemicals or corrosive gases.

• Keep away from heat sources and direct sunlight.

• Do not leave the monitor exposed to any chemical solvent, lint, or dust.

• Do not get the monitor wet or use in a wet or humid environment. This may damage the monitor.

• Only use, transport, and store the monitor within the required temperature and humidity ranges (see page 4). If the temperature and humidity are outside these ranges, the measurement results may be inaccurate.

• Do not hit or drop the monitor.

• Do not use the monitor in a moving vehicle, such as a car or an airplane.

• When appears, replace the batteries.

• Only use a micro USB power cable that meets the requirements for the monitor

(see page 18).

Note: A separate micro USB power cable used with this monitor has not been evaluated according to IEC 60601-1.

The safety of the monitor shall be reappraised when it is powered by a separate power cable.

• This monitor is not intended to replace regular medical checkups.

• We recommend your physician review your procedure for using this monitor.

• Do not use the monitor near a mobile phone, microwave oven, or any other device that emits electromagnetic fields. This can lead to incorrect readings.

• Always remove the batteries if the monitor is not likely to be used for 1 week or more.

Safety Notes:

• This monitor is safe for a patient to use on themselves for monitoring blood pressure and pulse rate. A patient can also perform routine cleaning and changing batteries.

• The standard material used for the cuff and hose is latex-free.

Getting to Know Your


Blood pressure monitors use the oscillometric method of measuring blood pressure. The monitor can detect the blood’s movement through the brachial artery and convert it into a digital reading. The monitor is easy and simple to use and does not require a stethoscope.

This monitor has many useful features such as a speaking function with volume adjustment, 2 users that can save 120 measurements each, a cuff self-check indicator, average value indicator, irregular heartbeat indicator, WHO indicator, and external power socket support.

Information on

Blood Pressure

Your blood pressure level is determined in the circulatory center of your brain and adjusts to a variety of situations through feedback from the nervous system. To adjust blood pressure, the strength and speed of your heart (your pulse) and the width of your circulatory blood vessels are altered. Blood vessel width is controlled by fine muscles in the blood vessel walls. Your level of arterial blood pressure changes periodically during heart activity. During “blood ejection” from the heart (systole), pressure is highest

(systolic blood pressure value / SYS). At the end of the heart’s “rest period” (diastole), pressure is lowest (diastolic blood pressure value / DIA). Blood pressure values must lie within certain normal ranges in order to prevent particular diseases.

There are 6 WHO (World Health Organization) Indicator levels that can be displayed on the monitor and represent different blood pressure values and classifications.

Blood pressure is very high if your diastolic pressure is above 90 mmHg and/or your systolic blood pressure is over 160 mmHg, while at rest. In this case, please consult your physician immediately. Long-term values at this level endanger your health due to continual damage to the blood vessels in your body.

If you have blood pressure values that are too high, (such as systolic values between 140 mmHg and 159 mmHg and/ or under diastolic blood pressure values between 90 mmHg and 99mmHg), consult your physician.

If you have blood pressure values that are too low, (such as systolic values under 105 mmHg and/or diastolic values under 60 mmHg), consult your physician.

Even with normal blood pressure values, a regular selfcheck with your blood pressure monitor is recommended.

You can detect possible changes in your values early and react appropriately. If you are undergoing medical treatment to control your blood pressure, keep a record of values along with time of day and date. Show these values to your physician.

Caution: Never use the results of your measurements to independently alter the drug doses prescribed by your physician.

Note:

• If your values are mostly normal under resting conditions but exceptionally high under conditions of physical or psychological stress, you may be suffering from “labile hypertension”. Consult your physician.

• Correctly measured diastolic blood pressure value above 120mmHg require immediate medical treatment.

More Information on Blood Pressure Values

• Increased blood pressure values (various forms of hypertension) are associated with considerable health risks over time. Arterial blood vessels in your body are endangered due to constriction caused by deposits in the vessel walls (arteriosclerosis). A deficient supply of blood to important organs (heart, brain, muscles) can result from arteriosclerosis. Furthermore, the heart will become structurally damaged with increased blood pressure values.

• There are many different causes of high blood pressure.

We differentiate between the common primary

(essential) hypertension, and secondary hypertension.

The latter group can be ascribed to specific organ malfunctions. Please consult your physician for information about the possible origins of your own increased blood pressure values.

• There are measures which you can take to reduce and even prevent high blood pressure. Consult your physician.

Monitor Settings

Selecting a User

1. With the monitor off, press SET to show the current user. The blood pressure monitor can store records for

2 users (A and B).

2. Press SET again to switch between User A and B.

Memory

Results are automatically saved after each measurement.

The monitor can save up to 120 results for each user.

To view saved results:

1. Select a user.

2. While the monitor is off, press MEM to display the average of the last 3 results.

3. Press MEM again to view each result, beginning with the most recent measurement taken.

4. Press MEM again to view the next result.

5. Alternatively, press and hold MEM to scroll to any result.

To delete all saved results:

1. Select a user.

2. Press MEM to display results.

3. Press and hold again until all measurements turn 0.

Note:

• You can’t delete individual results. All results will be deleted at once.

• Taking out the batteries will not delete saved results.

However, it will reset some of your settings, such as date, time, and speaker volume.

Setting the Date and Time

1. With the screen off, press and hold SET for 3 seconds to show the year. The year will blink.

2. Press MEM to adjust the year.

3. Press SET again to show the month and date. Press

MEM to adjust the month and date.

4. Press SET again to show the time. Press MEM to adjust the time.

5. Press SET to confirm.

Adjusting the Speaker Volume

1. With the screen off, press and hold SET for 3 seconds.

2. Press SET repeatedly until “SP” appears.

3. Press MEM to select volume level 1, 2, 3, or OFF.

Using the


Batteries and Power Cable Instructions

Batteries

Unwrap and insert the 4 included 1.5V AAA batteries into the monitor.

Note: To replace batteries, see page 25.

Micro USB Power Cable

You may also use the monitor with the 5V micro USB power cable. Only use an approved micro USB power cable to avoid damaging the monitor.

1. Make sure the power cable is not damaged.

2. Plug the cable into the power socket on the right side of the blood pressure monitor.

3. Plug the USB into a 5V powered USB port.

Note:

• No battery power is consumed while the micro USB power cable is plugged in.

• If electrical power is interrupted (such as by accidentally unplugging the monitor from the power socket), the monitor must be reset by removing the power cable from the power socket on the monitor and reinserting it.

When to Take Blood Pressure

• The best times to take your blood pressure are within 1 hour of waking in the morning or 1 hour before bedtime.

• When measuring in the morning, measure after urinating and before eating breakfast.

• Always measure your blood pressure before taking blood pressure medication.

• If you need to measure your blood pressure at another time of day, make sure you are calm and stable before measuring.

• Measure your blood pressure at the same time every day. Blood pressure changes during the course of the day, as much as 20–40 mmHg.

Before Measurement

• If the monitor is being used by multiple people, wash hands before each measurement.

• Sit on a chair with your feet flat on the floor and your arms on the table so the cuff is level with your heart.

• Remove any clothing that fits closely to your upper arm.

• Sit for at least 5 minutes in a comfortable, secure environment before measurement.

• Your blood pressure should be measured sitting down.

Take note if your blood pressure is taken in a different position.

• Take measurements on both arms the first time you use the monitor to make sure it is calibrated and both readings are similar.

• Take measurements on the same arm (normally left).

• Avoid any electromagnetic interference when taking measurements.

• Avoid flexing arm muscles or trying to support your arm, as this can increase blood pressure. Use a cushion for support if necessary.

• If the arm artery lies considerably lower or higher than the heart, the measurement may be incorrect. Each

25–30 cm difference in height between your heart and the cuff results in a measurement error of 10 mmHg.

• Only use the included cuff.

• A loose or improperly fitted cuff will result in incorrect measurements.

CAUTION

• Do not measure blood pressure for at least 30 minutes after physical activity. Do not smoke or drink stimulating beverages, such as coffee or alcohol, before measuring.

• Blood pressure should be measured at intervals of no less than 3 minutes, depending on your physical condition.

• People with arrhythmia and/or arteriosclerosis should be measured by medical staff for a professional diagnosis.

• Avoid pressing the cuff to your body when taking measurements.

Blood Pressure Measurement Instructions

1. Measure your arm circumference using a measuring tape in the middle of your relaxed upper arm.

2. Plug the air plug on the cuff into the air port on the monitor. Make sure the air plug is completely inserted to avoid air leaking, but avoid forcing the plug into the port.

Note: Make sure the cuff is not placed in the power socket. The air port is on the left side of the monitor

(see page 10).

3. Wrap the cuff around your upper left arm with the air cable on the inside of your arm. The rubber tube should be on the inside of your arm extending downward to your hand. The lower edge of the cuff should be placed about 2–3 cm / 0.8–1.2 in above the elbow. [Figure 1.2]

The on the edge of the cuff must lie over the artery which runs down the inner side of the arm.

4. Secure the cuff by wrapping it around your arm and pressing the hook-and-loop fastener together. The band should not be wrapped too tightly (leave space to insert about 2 fingers).

5. Select a user (see page 16). Make sure the air hose is not kinked.

6. Rest in a comfortable area for at least 5 minutes before measuring to ensure the best results.

7. Place your arm on a surface so the cuff is at the same level as your heart with your palm facing up. Your arm should be in a relaxed, natural position. Your feet should be flat on the floor. To ensure accuracy, do not move any part of your body during measurement.

8. Press to begin measuring. Relax and avoid moving or talking while measuring. The heartbeat indicator will blink on the display when your pulse is detected. When the measuring is finished, the cuff will deflate and results will display.

Note:

• Press at any time to stop measuring.

• If the cuff causes any increased discomfort, immediately press to turn off the monitor.

• See Display Readings (page 22) to understand the symbols appearing on the display.

• Wait at least 3 minutes before measuring again to allow blood to circulate back out of the arm. Accumulated blood in the arm will cause incorrect results.

• Only use the air plug to connect or disconnect the arm cuff. Do not pull on the air hose to disconnect from the air plug.

• After taking a measurement and showing the reading, the monitor will turn off after 1 minute of inactivity.

• If the monitor cannot read your blood pressure on your left arm, measure on your right arm.

• Wash hands after measuring blood pressure.

If is displayed, make sure the cuff is plugged in, and check to see if the cuff is too loose or too tight. Adjust accordingly until is displayed.

Movement Error Indicator

Irregular Heartbeat Indicator

This will display if an irregular heartbeat is detected during measurement. The result may differ from your normal basal blood pressure.

This indicator is only a caution. In most cases, there is no cause for concern—simply repeat the measurement. Stay relaxed, remain still, and avoid talking during measurement.

If you see the irregular heartbeat indicator regularly (such as several times a week with measurements taken daily), contact your physician.

Monitor cannot detect pulse or calculate blood pressure. Check the cuff for any dust or debris. Clean the cuff and hose if necessary and remeasure.

Measurement is abnormal (SYS ≤ 45 mmHg, DIA ≤ 24 mmHg). Check the cuff and remeasure.

Possible air leakage or cuff is loose. Make sure the air plug is securely connected and readjust the arm cuff.

Air tube is tangled. Detangle and remeasure.

Blood pressure fluctuation detected. This may be caused by movement. Take your measurements again and avoid talking or moving.

The monitor calibration is incorrect. Contact Customer Support (page 42) to return or replace the monitor.

Maintenance

Handling

• Handle the hose carefully. Do not pull on it. Do not allow the hose to kink. Keep it away from sharp edges.

• Do not drop the monitor or treat it roughly in any way.

Avoid strong vibrations.

• The cuff contains a sensitive air-tight bubble. Handle carefully and avoid twisting, buckling, or other stress.

Replacing Batteries

When it is time to replace the batteries, the display.

will blink on

CAUTION

Do not allow batteries to run out of charge inside the monitor. This will damage the monitor. Always replace batteries once appears on the display.

To replace the batteries:

1. Turn the monitor upside down and remove the battery compartment cover.

2. Remove the batteries and insert new batteries.

Note: If using rechargeable batteries, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to recharge the batteries.

3. Replace the battery compartment cover.

Note:

• Taking out the batteries will reset the date and time but will not delete saved results. To reset the date and time, see Setting the Date and Time (page

17).

• Battery life depends on the frequency and amount of use. If battery life is unusually reduced, contact

Customer Support (see page 42).

• Dispose of batteries and electronic instruments in accordance with local applicable regulations, not with domestic waste.

• Using the micro USB power cable will not take power away from the batteries.

• Do not use batteries past their expiration date.

Use 4 new 1.5V AAA long-life, alkaline batteries. If using reusable batteries, only use “NiMH” reusable batteries.

Cleaning the Monitor

1. Turn the monitor off and disconnect the arm cuff.

2. Wipe the monitor gently with a soft, dry cloth.

Note:

• Do not use gas, thinners, chemicals, or detergents to clean the monitor.

• Do not let water get into the monitor.

Cleaning the Cuff

Spots on the arm cuff can be removed carefully with a damp cloth and some mild soap.

Note:

• Do not use chemicals or harsh detergents to clean the cuff.

• Do not wash in a dishwasher or washing machine.

Do not submerge in water.

Storage

• Turn the monitor off and unplug the air plug from the air port.

• Place the cuff and the machine in the storage bag.

• Do not store in wet, damp, or humid places.

Note: Do not roll or fold the air hose or cuff too tightly.

Handle with care.

• Do not store in any place that is tilted, vibrates, or can damage the monitor.

• Do not store near chemicals or corrosive gases.

• Keep away from extreme temperatures, humidity, heat sources, and direct sunlight.

• Do not store in places that can be easily reached by children.

• Do not leave the monitor exposed to any chemical solvent, lint, or dust.

Why is the blood pressure monitor not turning on?

• Check the batteries and replace if needed

(see page 25).

• Check to make sure the batteries are inserted correctly.

Why is the cuff not inflating?

• Air may be leaking. Check to make sure the air plug is inserted in the air port and the air hose does not have holes or punctures.

• If the cuff is damaged, please contact Customer

Support (see page 42).

Why does my arm ache or feel numb after measuring my blood pressure?

• The cuff will inflate to compress your arm to briefly stop the flow of blood. This may cause temporary numbness and discomfort. Once the cuff is removed, allow your arm to rest.

Why are my blood pressure measurements different?

• The area you are in as well as your mental and physical state both factor into your measurements. Your measurements may come out lower when you are at home and at peace as compared to when you are at the hospital and feeling nervous.

• Your blood pressure will vary throughout the day, even if it is measured every 10 seconds. It will fluctuate for a variety of reasons. Eating, drinking, smoking, bathing, and even your mood can all affect your blood pressure.

• If the cuff position is higher or lower than the heart, the blood pressure measurements may be inaccurate.

Make sure the cuff is 0.8–1.2 in / 2–3 cm away from your elbow.

• The cuff may be too loose, causing the blood pressure measurements to be too high. Tighten the cuff on your arm.

• Your sitting posture, such as bending over or sitting cross-legged, can raise your blood pressure. Sit in a chair with your arms elevated on a table (see Before

Measurement , page 19).

Ihr Blutdruckmessgerät Über den Blutdruck

Blutdruckmessgeräte nutzen ein oszillometrisches

Verfahren zur Messung des Blutdrucks. Das Messgerät erfasst die Bewegung des Blutes durch die Arteria brachialis und kann diese in eine digitale Anzeige umwandeln. Das

Messgerät ist benutzerfreundlich und kann ohne Stethoskop verwendet werden.

Das Messgerät ist mit vielen nützlichen Funktionen wie z. B. einer Sprachfunktion mit Lautstärkeregelung, einer

Speicherfunktion für 2 Benutzer und 120 Messergebnisse pro Benutzer, einer Kontrollanzeige für die Manschette, einer Durchschnittswertanzeige, einer Anzeige für unregelmäßigen Herzschlag, die WHO-Anzeige sowie einer externen Anschlussbuchse ausgestattet.

Ihr Blutdruckwert wird im Kreislaufzentrum Ihres

Gehirns bestimmt und passt sich durch Feedback Ihres

Nervensystems an eine Vielzahl von Situationen an. Bei der Anpassung Ihres Blutdrucks verändern sich die Kraft und Geschwindigkeit Ihres Herzens (Ihr Puls) und der

Durchmesser Ihrer Blutgefäße. Der Durchmesser der

Blutgefäße wird durch feine Muskeln in Ihren Gefäßwänden reguliert. Ihr arterieller Blutdruck ändert sich regelmäßig während der Herztätigkeit. Bei der „Blutabgabe“ aus dem

Herzen (Systole) ist der Druck am höchsten (Systolischer

Blutdruckwert / SYS). Am Ende der „Ruhephase“ des Herzens (Diastole) ist der Druck am niedrigsten

(Diastolischer Blutdruckwert / DIA). Zur Vermeidung bestimmter Krankheiten müssen sich Blutdruckwerte in bestimmten Normalbereichen befinden.

Wenn Ihr diastolischer Blutdruck in Ruhephasen

über 90 mmHg und/oder Ihr systolischer Blutdruck in Ruhephasen über 160 mmHg beträgt, haben Sie wahrscheinlich Bluthochdruck. Holen Sie in diesem Fall unverzüglich ärztlichen Rat ein. Langzeitwerte in dieser

Höhe schädigen Ihre Gefäße und gefährden dadurch Ihre

Gesundheit.

Wenn Ihre Blutdruckwerte zu hoch sind (d. h. systolische

Werte zwischen 140 und 159 mmHg und/oder diastolische

Blutdruckwerte zwischen 90 und 99 mmHg), suchen Sie

Ihren Arzt auf.

Wenn Ihre Blutdruckwerte zu niedrig sind (d. h. systolische

Werte unter 105 mmHg und/oder diastolische Werte unter

60 mmHg), suchen Sie Ihren Arzt auf.

Eine regelmäßige Selbstkontrolle mit Ihrem Blutdruckgerät wird selbst bei normalen Blutdruckwerten empfohlen.

So können Sie eine mögliche Veränderung Ihrer Werte frühzeitig erkennen und entsprechend reagieren. Wenn Sie sich zur Kontrolle Ihres Blutdrucks in ärztlicher Behandlung befinden, dokumentieren Sie Ihre Werte mit Tageszeit und

Datum der Messung. Legen Sie Ihrem Arzt diese Werte vor.

Achtung: Ändern Sie niemals aufgrund Ihrer Messwerte die verordneten Dosierungen Ihrer Medikamente ohne vorherige Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt.

Hinweis:

• Wenn Ihre Werte im Ruhezustand meist normal, aber unter körperlichen und psychologischen Belastungen außergewöhnlich hoch sind, leiden Sie möglicherweise unter einer „labilen Hypertonie“. Wenden Sie sich an

Ihren Arzt.

• Korrekt gemessene diastolische Blutdruckwerte von mehr als 120 mmHg bedürfen einer sofortigen

ärztlichen Behandlung.

Weitere Informationen zu Blutdruckwerten

• Erhöhte Blutdruckwerte (d. h., verschiedene Formen der Hypertonie) sind über einen längeren Zeitraum mit erheblichen Gesundheitsrisiken verbunden. Die arteriellen Blutgefäße in Ihrem Körper sind durch

Verengungen gefährdet, die durch Ablagerungen in den Gefäßwänden (Arteriosklerose) hervorgerufen werden. Arteriosklerose kann zu einer unzureichenden

Durchblutung wichtiger Organe (Herz, Gehirn, Muskeln) führen. Darüber hinaus wird das Herz bei erhöhten

Blutdruckwerten strukturell geschädigt.

• Ein hoher Blutdruck kann auf eine Vielzahl verschiedener Ursachen zurückgeführt werden. Es wird zwischen der verbreiteten primären (essentiellen)

Hypertonie und sekundärer Hypertonie unterschieden.

Die sekundäre Hypertonie kann auf bestimmte

Organfehlfunktionen zurückgeführt werden. Bitte wenden Sie sich an Ihren Arzt, um sich über die möglichen Ursachen für Ihre persönlichen erhöhten

Blutdruckwerte zu informieren.

• Es gibt Maßnahmen, um einen Bluthochdruck zu senken oder sogar zu verhindern. Wenden Sie sich an Ihren

Arzt.

Speicher

Die Ergebnisse werden nach jeder Messung automatisch gespeichert. Es können bis zu 120 Ergebnisse pro Benutzer gespeichert werden.

So können Sie Ihre gespeicherten Ergebnisse anzeigen:

1. Wählen Sie einen Benutzer aus.

2. Drücken Sie MEM bei ausgeschaltetem Messgerät, um den Durchschnittswert der letzten drei

Messwerte anzuzeigen.

3. Drücken Sie erneut auf MEM , um die einzelnen

Werte, beginnend mit der zuletzt durchgeführten

Messung, anzuzeigen.

4. Drücken Sie erneut auf MEM , um das nächste

Ergebnis anzuzeigen.

5. Alternativ können Sie MEM gedrückt halten, um zu einem beliebigen Wert zu navigieren.

So löschen Sie alle gespeicherten Ergebnisse:

1. Wählen Sie einen Benutzer aus.

2. Drücken Sie MEM , um Ergebnisse anzuzeigen.

3. Drücken Sie die Taste erneut und halten Sie sie gedrückt, bis alle Messwerte auf 0 gesetzt wurden.

Hinweis:

• Einzelne Ergebnisse können nicht gelöscht werden.

Stattdessen werden alle Ergebnisse auf einmal gelöscht.

• Gespeicherte Ergebnisse werden nicht gelöscht, wenn die Batterien herausgenommen werden. Einige

Einstellungen, wie z. B. Datum, Zeit und Lautstärke werden jedoch dadurch zurückgesetzt.

Datum und Uhrzeit einstellen

1. Halten Sie SET bei ausgeschaltetem Bildschirm drei

Hinweise zu Batterien und Netzkabeln

Batterien

Packen Sie die vier im Lieferumfang enthaltenen 1,5 V

AAA-Batterien aus und setzen Sie sie in das Messgerät ein.

Hinweis: Zum Austauschen von Batterien siehe Seite 63.

Micro-USB-Netzkabel

Sie können das Messgerät auch mit dem 5 V Micro-USB-

Netzkabel betreiben. Verwenden Sie ausschließlich zugelassene USB-Netzkabel, um Beschädigungen am

Messgerät zu vermeiden.

1. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das Netzkabel nicht beschädigt ist.

2. Schließen Sie das Kabel an der rechten Seite des

Blutdruckmessgeräts an.

3. Schließen Sie den USB-Stecker an einen 5 V USB-

Anschluss an.

Hinweis:

• Während das Micro-USB-Netzkabel angeschlossen ist, wird kein Batteriestrom verbraucht.

• Wenn die Stromversorgung unterbrochen wird (z. B. wenn der Stecker des Messgeräts versehentlich aus der Steckdose gezogen wird), muss das Messgerät zurückgesetzt werden. Trennen Sie dazu das Netzkabel vom Anschluss am Messgerät und schließen Sie es dann neu an.

Wann sollte der Blutdruck gemessen werden

• Messen Sie Ihren Blutdruck am besten innerhalb einer

Stunde nach dem Aufstehen oder in der Stunde bevor

Sie zu Bett gehen.

• Messen Sie Ihren Blutdruck morgens nach dem

Harnlassen und vor dem Frühstück.

• Messen Sie Ihren Blutdruck stets vor der Einnahme von

Blutdruckmedikamenten.

• Wenn Sie Ihren Blutdruck zu einer anderen Tageszeit messen müssen, stellen Sie vor der Messung sicher, dass Sie sich in einem ruhigen und stabilen Zustand befinden.

• Messen Sie Ihren Blutdruck immer zur gleichen

Tageszeit. Der Blutdruck schwankt im Verlauf eines

Tages um bis zu 20–40 mmHg.

Vor der Messung

• Waschen Sie sich vor jeder Messung die Hände, wenn das Messgerät von mehreren Menschen verwendet wird.

• Setzen Sie sich auf einen Stuhl, stellen Sie die Füße flach auf dem Boden ab und legen Sie Ihre Arme auf einen Tisch, sodass sich die Manschette auf Herzhöhe befindet. [Abbildung 1.1]

• Ziehen Sie Kleidungsstücke aus, die eng an Ihrem

Oberarm anliegen.

• Bleiben Sie vor der Messung mindestens fünf Minuten lang in einer bequemen und sicheren Umgebung sitzen.

• Der Blutdruck sollte im Sitzen gemessen werden.

Notieren Sie es, falls Sie sich beim Messen Ihres

Blutdrucks in einer anderen Position befinden.

• Nehmen bei der ersten Verwendung des Messgeräts

Messungen an beiden Armen vor, um sicherzustellen, dass das Gerät kalibriert ist und die Messwerte ähnlich sind.

• Führen Sie danach die Messungen immer am selben

Arm durch (normalerweise wird der linke Arm verwendet).

• Vermeiden Sie elektromagnetische Störungen während der Messungen.

• Versuchen Sie, Ihre Armmuskeln nicht anzuspannen oder Ihren Arm zu heben, da sich der Blutdruck dadurch erhöhen könnte. Wenn nötig, legen Sie Ihren Arm auf ein Kissen.

• Wenn sich die Armarterie deutlich tiefer oder höher als das Herz befindet, könnte dies die Messwerte verfälschen. Jeder Höhenunterschied von 25–30 cm zwischen Herz und Manschette führt zu einem

Messfehler von 10 mmHg.

• Verwenden Sie ausschließlich die im Lieferumfang enthaltene Manschette.

• Eine lose sitzende oder falsch angelegte Manschette führt zu Fehlmessungen.

ACHTUNG

• Warten Sie nach körperlicher Anstrengung mindestens 30 Minuten, bevor Sie Ihren

Blutdruck messen. Rauchen Sie vor der Messung nicht und trinken Sie keine anregenden Getränke, wie z. B. Kaffee oder Alkohol.

• Je nach Ihrer körperlichen Verfassung sollten Sie zwischen einzelnen Messungen mindestens drei

Minuten warten.

• Menschen, die unter Arrhythmie und/oder

Arteriosklerose leiden, sollten Ihren Blutdruck von medizinischen Fachkräften messen lassen, um eine professionelle Diagnose zu erhalten.

• Drücken Sie die Manschette während der

Messung möglichst nicht gegen Ihren Körper.

Anleitung zur Blutdruckmessung

1. Messen Sie Ihren Armumfang mit einem Maßband in der Mitte Ihres entspannten Oberarmes.

2. Stecken Sie den Luftstopfen der Manschette in den

Luftanschluss am Messgerät. Achten Sie darauf, dass der Stopfen vollständig eingeführt ist, drücken Sie jedoch nicht zu stark, um den Anschluss nicht zu beschädigen.

Hinweis: Achten Sie darauf, dass Sie die Manschette nicht mit dem Netzanschluss verbinden. Der

Luftanschluss befindet sich an der linken Seite des

Messgeräts (siehe Seite 47).

3. Wickeln Sie die Manschette um Ihren linken

Oberarm und achten Sie dabei darauf, dass sich der

Luftschlauch an der Innenseite Ihres Arms befindet. Der

Gummischlauch sollte sich an der Innenseite Ihres Arms befinden und bis nach unten zur Hand verlaufen. Der untere Saum der Manschette sollte sich etwa 2–3 cm /

0,8–1,2 Zoll über Ihrem Ellbogen befinden. [Abbildung

über der Arterie platziert werden, die an der Innenseite des Arms verläuft.

4. Befestigen Sie die Manschette, indem Sie sie um

Ihren Arm wickeln und dann den Klettverschluss zusammendrücken. Die Manschette sollte nicht zu eng gewickelt werden (Sie sollten noch etwa zwei Finger unter die Manschette schieben können).

5. Wählen Sie einen Benutzer aus (siehe Seite 53).

Achten Sie darauf, dass sich kein Knick im Luftschlauch befindet.

6. Ruhen Sie sich vor der Messung mindestens fünf

Minuten lang in einer angenehmen Umgebung aus, um beste Ergebnisse zu gewährleisten.

7. Legen Sie Ihren Arm mit der Handfläche nach oben auf einer Oberfläche ab und achten Sie darauf, dass sich die Manschette auf Herzhöhe befindet. Halten Sie

Ihren Arm in einer entspannten, natürlichen Position.

Stellen Sie Ihre Füße flach auf dem Boden ab. Halten

Sie Ihren gesamten Körper während der Messung still , um genaue Ergebnisse zu gewährleisten.

8. Drücken Sie , um die Messung zu starten.

Entspannen Sie sich und bewegen oder unterhalten

Sie sich während der Messung möglichst nicht. Die

Herzschlaganzeige blinkt im Display, wenn Ihr Puls erkannt wird. Wenn die Messung abgeschlossen ist, entweicht die Luft aus der Manschette und die

Ergebnisse werden angezeigt

Hinweis:

• Sie können die Messung jederzeit stoppen, indem Sie

drücken.

• Wenn die Manschette Beschweren verursacht, drücken

Sie unverzüglich auf , um das Messgerät auszuschalten.

• Im Kapitel Displayanzeigen (Seite 60) finden Sie

Erklärungen zu den Symbolen, die auf dem Display erscheinen.

• Warten Sie vor einer erneuten Messung mindestens drei Minuten, damit das Blut wieder aus dem Arm zirkulieren kann. Ein Blutstau im Arm führt zu falschen

Messwerten.

• Verwenden Sie den Luftstopfen ausschließlich zum

Anschließen oder Trennen der Armmanschette. Ziehen

Sie nicht am Luftschlauch, um diesen vom Luftstopfen zu trennen.

• Nach einer Messung und Anzeige der Messwerte schaltet sich das Gerät nach 1 Minute Untätigkeit automatisch aus.

• Wenn das Messgerät Ihren Blutdruck am linken Arm nicht messen kann, messen Sie ihn am rechten Arm.

• Waschen Sie sich nach dem Blutdruckmessen die

Hände.

Wenn angezeigt wird, stellen Sie sicher, dass die

Manschette angeschlossen ist und überprüfen Sie, ob sie zu locker oder zu eng sitzt. Korrigieren Sie dies, bis angezeigt wird.

Fehlermeldung bei Bewegung

Anzeige eines unregelmäßigen Herzschlags

Dieses Symbol leuchtet auf, wenn während der Messung ein unregelmäßiger Herzschlag erkannt wurde. Das Ergebnis kann von Ihrem normalen basalen Blutdruck abweichen.

Die Anzeige dient nur als Hinweis. In den meisten Fällen besteht kein Grund zur Sorge — führen Sie die Messung einfach noch einmal durch. Bleiben Sie entspannt, ruhig und sprechen Sie während der Messung möglichst nicht.

Wenn regelmäßig ein unregelmäßiger Herzschlag angezeigt wird (z. B. mehrmals in der Woche bei täglichen Messungen), suchen Sie Ihren Arzt auf.

Dies wird angezeigt, wenn das Messgerät eine Bewegung wahrgenommen hat. Nehmen Sie die Manschette ab und warten die zwei bis drei Minuten. Legen Sie die Manschette erneut an und wiederholen Sie die Messung. Bewegen Sie sich während der Messung nicht .

Bildschirm zeigt nichts an oder blinkt.

Lösung

Überprüfen Sie, ob die Batterien entsprechend der Polaritäten korrekt eingesetzt sind.

Tauschen Sie die Batterien aus.

Der Sensor ist möglicherweise defekt. Schalten Sie das Messgerät aus und trennen Sie die Manschette vom Messgerät.

Schließen Sie die Manschette erneut an und schalten Sie das Messgerät ein. Wenn das Messgerät weiterhin anzeigt, kontaktieren Sie unseren Kundendienst (Seite 66).

Das Gerät erkennt weder den Puls noch kann es den Blutdruck berechnen. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Manschette nicht verstaubt oder verschmutzt ist. Wenn nötig, reinigen Sie Manschette und Schlauch und führen Sie die Messung erneut durch.

Die Messwerte sind anormal (SYS ≤ 45 mmHg, DIA ≤ 24 mmHg). Überprüfen Sie die Manschette und führen Sie Messung erneut durch.

Es ist möglich, dass Luft austritt oder die Manschette zu locker sitzt. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Luftstopfen sicher angebracht ist und korrigieren Sie den Sitz der Manschette.

Der Luftschlauch ist verheddert. Entwirren Sie ihn und führen Sie die Messung erneut durch.

Es wurden Blutdruckschwankungen festgestellt. Das kann durch Bewegungen hervorgerufen werden. Messen Sie Ihre Werte erneut und sprechen oder bewegen Sie sich dabei möglichst nicht.

Der Blutdruck liegt über dem oberen Grenzwert. Führen Sie die Messung erneut durch. Wenn das Gerät weiterhin anzeigt, ist es möglicherweise defekt. Kontaktieren Sie unseren Kundendienst (Seite 66).

Das Gerät ist falsch kalibriert. Kontaktieren Sie unseren Kundendienst (Seite 66), um das Gerät zurückzugeben oder ersetzen zu lassen.

Wartung

Handhabung

• Gehen Sie vorsichtig mit dem Schlauch um. Ziehen Sie nicht daran. Achten Sie darauf, dass der Schlauch nicht knickt. Halten Sie ihn von scharfen Kanten fern.

• Lassen Sie das Messgerät nicht fallen und gehen

Sie stets vorsichtig damit um. Vermeiden Sie starke

Schwingungen.

• Die Manschette beinhaltet eine empfindliche, luftdichte

Blase. Gehen Sie vorsichtig damit um und vermeiden

Sie es, sie zu verdrehen, zu knicken oder anderweitig zu strapazieren.

Auswechseln der Batterien

ACHTUNG

Achten Sie darauf, dass die Batterien nicht im Messgerät leerlaufen. Dies könnte das Gerät beschädigen. Tauschen Sie die Batterien immer aus, wenn auf dem Display erscheint.

Verwenden Sie vier neue langlebige und alkalische 1,5 V

AAA-Batterien. Wenn Sie Akkus verwenden möchten, nutzen

Sie ausschließlich NiMH-Akkus (Nickel-Metallhydrid-Akkus).

So tauschen Sie die Batterien aus:

1. Stellen Sie das Messgerät auf den Kopf und nehmen Sie den Deckel des Batteriefachs ab.

2. Nehmen Sie die Batterien heraus und setzen Sie neue

Batterien ein.

Hinweis: Wenn Sie wiederaufladbare Akkus verwenden, laden Sie diese entsprechend der

Angaben des Herstellers erneut auf.

3. Bringen Sie den Deckel des Batteriefachs wieder an.

Hinweis:

• Wenn Sie die Batterien herausnehmen, werden

Datum und Uhrzeit zwar zurückgesetzt, die gespeicherten Ergebnisse werden jedoch nicht gelöscht. Informationen zum Zurücksetzen von

Datum und Zeit finden Sie im Kapitel Datum und

Uhrzeit einstellen (Seite 54).

• Die Batterielebensdauer hängt davon ab, wie häufig und stark das Gerät genutzt wird. Bei einer ungewöhnlich kurzen Batterielebensdauer wenden

Sie sich an unseren Kundendienst

(siehe Seite 66).

• Entsorgen Sie Batterien und elektronische

Geräte gemäß örtlicher Vorschriften und nicht im

Hausmüll.

• Bei Verwendung des Micro-USB-Netzkabels wird kein Batteriestrom verbraucht.

• Verwenden Sie Batterien nicht über das

Verfallsdatum hinaus.

Reinigung des Geräts

1. Schalten Sie das Messgerät aus und trennen Sie die

Armmanschette vom Messgerät.

2. Reinigen Sie das Messgerät vorsichtig mit einem weichen, trockenen Tuch.

Hinweis:

• Verwendern Sie zur Reinigung des Messgeräts keine Gase, Verdünnungsmittel, Chemikalien oder

Reinigungsmittel.

• Achten Sie darauf, dass kein Wasser in das

Messgerät eindringt.

Reinigung der Manschette

Flecken können mit einem feuchten Tuch und ein wenig milder Seife von der Armmanschette entfernt werden.

Hinweis:

• Benutzen Sie zur Reinigung der Manschette keine chemischen oder aggressiven Reinigungsmittel.

• Geben Sie das Gerät nicht in den Geschirrspüler oder die Waschmaschine.

Tauchen Sie das Gerät nicht in Wasser ein.

Warum lässt sich das Blutdruckmessgerät nicht einschalten?

• Überprüfen Sie die Batterien und ersetzen Sie diese, falls nötig (siehe Seite 62).

• Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Batterien korrekt eingesetzt wurden.

Warum pumpt sich die Manschette nicht auf?

• Es ist möglich, dass Luft austritt. Überprüfen Sie, dass der Luftstopfen in den Luftanschluss eingeführt wurde und der Luftschlauch keine Löcher oder Risse aufweist.

• Wenn die Manschette beschädigt ist, kontaktieren Sie bitte unseren Kundendienst (siehe Seite 66).

Warum verspüre ich nach der Blutdruckmessung

Schmerzen oder ein taubes Gefühl in meinem Arm?

• Die Manschette pumpt sich auf und durch die

Kompression wird der Blutfluss in Ihrem Arm kurzzeitig unterbrochen. Das kann zu einem vorübergehenden

Taubheitsgefühl oder Unbehagen führen. Lassen

Sie Ihren Arm ruhen, nachdem Sie die Manschette abgenommen haben.

Warum schwanken meine Blutdruckwerte?

• Sowohl Ihre Umgebung als auch Ihr mentaler und körperlicher Zustand beeinflussen Ihre Messwerte. So können Ihre Messwerte niedriger sein, wenn Sie zu

Hause und entspannt sind, als wenn Sie im Krankenhaus oder nervös sind.

Blutdruck auswirken.

• Wenn die Manschette nicht auf Herzhöhe angebracht ist, können die Blutdruckwerte fehlerhaft sein. Stellen

Sie sicher, dass sich die Manschette 2–3 cm / 0,8–1,2 Zoll

über Ihrem Ellbogen befindet.

• Wenn die Manschette zu locker sitzt, können die gemessenen Blutdruckwerte zu hoch ausfallen. Wickeln

Sie die Manschette fester um Ihren Arm.

• Durch Ihre Sitzhaltung, wie z. B. Vorwärtsbeugen oder Sitzen im Schneidersitz, kann Ihr Blutdruck steigen. Setzen Sie sich auf einen Stuhl und legen

Sie die Arme auf einen Tisch (siehe Benutzung des

Blutdruckmessgerats , Seite 55).
