3.1 GENERAL ________________________________________________________________
!
WARNING
To prevent injury, lower implements to the ground, disengage all drives, engage parking brake, stop engine and remove key from ignition switch before making any adjustments or performing maintenance.
Make sure the tractor is parked on a solid and level surface. Never work on a tractor that is supported only by the jack. Always use jack stands.
If only the front or rear of the tractor is raised, place chocks in front of and behind the wheels that are not raised.
1.
Adjustments and maintenance should always be performed by a qualified technician. If proper adjustment cannot be made, contact an authorized
Textron Turf Care And Specialty Products Dealer.
2.
Replace, do not adjust, worn or damaged components.
3.
Long hair, jewelry or loose fitting clothing may get tangled in moving parts.
!
CAUTION
Be careful to prevent entrapment of the hands and fingers between moving and fixed components of the machine.
4.
Do not change governor settings or overspeed the engine.
3.2
BALL JOINTS _____________________________________________________________
When adjusting ball joints, be sure cut-out in ball joint is parallel to the mounting bracket, then secure in place
INCORRECT CORRECT
Must be parallel after assembly within 1/4” (6 mm) per foot.

3.3
ENGINE ALTERNATOR BELT ________________________________________________
1.
Inspect and adjust new alternator belt after the first
10 hours of operation. Check and adjust every 100 hours thereafter.
2.
Adjust the alternator pulley so the belt deflects 9/32 to 11/32 in. (7 - 9 mm) with 22 lb. (10 kg) push at midpoint between pulleys. Refer to your engine manual.
3.
To adjust, loosen alternator mounting bolts (A) and adjust alternator until the proper belt tension is achieved.

PARKING BRAKE _________________________________________________________
1.
Check linkages, cables and pivot points, to ensure they are operating smoothly. Check brake pads for wear.
2.
To set brake force: Place brake lever in the disengaged position. Sit in the operator’s seat and turn knob (B) clockwise to increase force. Apply and release brake every quarter turn until a force of 36-
42 lb. (16 - 19 kg), at the base of the adjustment knob is required to set the parking brake.
If a scale is not available for measuring, place tractor in 2WD mode and adjust brake until motor cannot overcome the parking brake
3.
If the knob on the parking brake has been turned to its maximum extent, new brake pads are required.
4.
Brake pads must be replaced when worn to the point that they touch each other above the brake disc.
5.
Park the tractor on an incline (Approximately 16.7° slope) near the bottom of the hill, with the front of the tractor facing downhill. Engage the parking brake and stop the engine.
6.
If the brakes do not hold, Start the engine, disengage brake and drive to the bottom of the hill to make the adjustment.

GROUND PRESSURE ______________________________________________________
1.
Adjusting ground pressure affects lowering time of the lift arms and also affects ground pressure at each tire.
2.
Loosen thin knob (J) and adjust large knob (K) to increase or decrease cutting unit weight. Knob adjusts all three mowers simultaneously.
a.
Increasing cutting unit weight allows mowers to follow contours of ground better and reduces tractor ground pressure.
b.
Decreasing cutting unit weight increases tractor weight, which increases traction on slopes.
c.
Once desired ground pressure has been obtained, tighten thin knob (J).
Note: If cutting unit weight is set too low, wing cutting units will not lower to the ground from transport position.
