These are features that may not be normally set up at the time of installation. Therefore, there may be extra charge for these programming. Please notify your installer if you would like some of these features. Some of these features require extra installation. I for 0.5 Seconds – Lock/Unlock – Tapping this button for a split second will lock/arm and unlock/disarm your CompuStar system.

2.

I for 2.5 Seconds – Auto Mode is activated (Auto Icon shows up) or Remote Start Run Time is reset during remote start.

1) Auto Mode: There are 3 different Auto Modes.

A. Auto Mode 1 – Low Power, Auto Icon On. When holding button I for 2.5 seconds, Auto Mode engages on the low power setting. Once you go out of range of your vehicle the system will automatically lock and arm. Once you come back into range, your system will automatically unlock and disarm your CompuStar.

B.. Auto Mode 2 – High Power, Auto Icon flash. This will increase the range of auto arms and disarms.

C. Auto Mode 3 – High Power, Auto icon flash rapidly. Same as 2, except:

If you remain on the border of range between your remote and vehicle and your CompuStar automatically locks and unlocks, a failsafe will engage. Once your system Auto locks and unlocks twice in a 2 minute period then Auto Mode will cancel. You will have to tap button I to unlock your CompuStar and turn Auto

Mode back on.

When you hold button I for a fourth time the Auto icon will turn off and Auto Mode is disabled.

2) If your vehicle is running with remote start, you can Reset Remote Start Run time by pressing button I for 2.5 seconds.

3. Tapping button II or III will activate Aux 1 or Aux 2, which can be used to activate side doors, window modules, etc .

By default, these buttons can only be activated as Secure Aux to prevent accident activation. Click IV before you activate II or III. This can be changed – ask your installer. You may want to remove Secure Aux if you connect Aux to open side doors.

Button IV (0.5 seconds) has 3 functions:

1) Car Check - Has three stages. Press button IV for 0.5 sec again to advance to the next stage. (1)Vehicle Temperature, (2)Vehicle Battery Voltage, (3)Remote

Battery Voltage.

2) Secure Aux – Secure Aux protects you from accidentally activating Aux 1 or Aux 2. It is designed so you do not accidentally roll down your windows or pop your doors.

3) Memory for remote settings and time clock – Tap IV before you remove the battery. When you insert a battery back, the remote settings and time clock will be restored

Button IV (2.5 Seconds) – Button Lock – Holding down button IV for 2.5 seconds will activate the button locking feature on your remote. This is designed so you do not accidentally hit any buttons while the remote is in your pocket.

Button IV (4 Seconds) – Panic Mode – Holding down button IV for 4 seconds will panic the siren. You can turn panic mode off by tapping button I. This Panic mode will also activate the Anti-Jack mode. The Anti-Jack mode will require additional installation.

Button I+II – Siren On/Off – Tapping these two buttons at the same time will mute the siren chirps during arm/lock and disarm/unlock. This feature will also mute the siren when the siren is set to 20 chirp silent siren

There are three different ways to enter Valet mode.

1) I+III together for a half second while Ignition is on. Your installer can change the setting so that you do not have to turn ignition on.

2) Ignition On and Off for 5 times with key

3) Secure Valet – Consult your installer for this feature. If your installer turns on Secure Valet option, you can put the system into Valet mode with the valet/LED button by following steps 3-5 below. You can change the valet code numbers as follows:

A. Your installer must program Option 3-10 to setting 3.

B. Turn key to the ignition on position.

C. Hold down valet switch for 1.5 seconds. The LED on the switch will begin to flash rapidly.

D. Tap the button on the switch to enter first number of 2-digit code. LED will flash the first number slowly.

E. Once the LED begins flashing rapidly tap the button on the switch to enter the second number.

F. Turn ignition off and Valet Switch is now programmed.

G. To enter valet mode follow steps 3 to 5

H. If the RPS unlock code (explained later in this manual) is already set and you set the Valet Switch then it overwrites the first two digits of the RPS code

Button I+III (2.5 Seconds) – When you hold these two buttons together for 2.5 seconds you can disable your shock sensor. This also disables any other added sensors such as radar, proximity or tilt sensors.

Button I+IV – Drive Lock On/Off – Tapping buttons I+IV at the same time turns on the “Drive Lock” feature on your system. Your CompuStar dealer must also set this option in the option menu. This feature locks your vehicle when you turn the ignition on and press the foot brake or accelerate. The CompuStar will unlock your vehicle when you turn the key off or set the emergency brake. (manual transmissions only)

Button II+III – Passive Arming On/Off – Tapping buttons II+III at the same time turns Passive mode on. With passive mode on, your vehicle will lock and arm

30 seconds after the door is opened and closed. The parking lights will flash and/or siren will chirp every 10 seconds up to 30.

Remote Options Programming

Button II+III (2.5 Seconds) – Holding buttons II and III for 2.5 seconds will put the remote into and take out of the Remote Option Menu. There are 7 different options in the Remote Option Menu that can be set. To toggle through the menu just tap button IV to move down each option. Tap button III to move up each option in the menu.

(Note: The Remote Option Menu will flash certain icons to show which section of the menu you are in. Please refer to the table below.)

Button II+IV – Timer Start On/Off – By activating this feature, you turn on the time start or hot/cold starting. This must be set after you close the vehicle door. If you remote start or start the vehicle with the key then it cancels this mode. Consult your installer.

Timer Start – Your installer can give you 3 choices – 3 hr, 1.5 hr or Reservation. Example. If your installer sets up 3 hours and you turn on this option with II+IV, your car will start every 3 hours for 4 minutes until cancelled. If your installer sets up Reservation, you have to set up a specific start time (see ⑿ ), then turn on this option.

Cold Start – If you installer installs a temperature sensor and have Cold Start Option on and temperature set (for example, 32°), your timer start will activate only when the temperature of vehicle goes below 32°. Further, you can have another option – 24 hr Repeat. With this feature, you have your car starter every day certain time if the temperature of the inside of your car goes below a certain temperature (32, 23, or 13º).

Button II+IV (2.5 Seconds) – Parking Timer On/Off – Holding buttons II and IV will activate the Parking Timer. This is used to keep track of elapsed time. With this timer you can keep track of how much time is left on your parking meter. The parking timer will alternate between current time and the parking timer. It will show hours, minutes, and 10 th s of a minute.

Button III+IV – Turbo Mode On/Off – By tapping buttons III+IV simultaneously you activate Turbo Mode. By activating this function you can run your vehicle for

1, 2 or 4 minutes after you set your emergency brake. You must manually arm your CompuStar once you shut your door. This feature and run time must also be programmed by your CompuStar dealer.

Button III+IV (2.5 Seconds) – 2 nd Car Mode – Holding buttons III+IV for 2.5 seconds will turn the 2 nd Car Mode on your remote. 2 nd Car function is used to control another vehicle with the same CompuStar system installed. It is intended for you to have one remote operate two of your vehicles.

II. Diagnostic Messages

2. When the vehicle is disarmed, the amount of siren chirps will indicate which zone has been triggered while armed: a) Parking Light & Chirps 4 times - Optional Sensor Triggered b) 5 Times – Shock Sensor triggered c) 6 Times: Door, Hood, or Trunk was triggered

3. When armed, the LED will blink slowly. While siren is going off, however, the LED will indicate what caused the alarm to trigger

III. Manual Transmission Vehicles

To use the remote-start function on a manual transmission vehicle, you must first set Reservation Mode. Reservation mode sets the vehicle up to safely start the next time you use the remote-start. To set Reservation Mode, follow these steps:

1. Completely stop the vehicle and put it in NEUTRAL.

2. Set the emergency brake and remove your foot from the foot brake.

3. A few seconds later you should hear a “click”.

4. Turn the key off and remove it from the ignition. The vehicle will stay running.

5. Exit the vehicle and close the door.

6. The vehicle will shut off, the system will arm, and the doors will lock.

Reservation Mode has now been set. The following actions will cancel Reservation Mode; opening the hood, doors, or trunk, turning on the ignition, releasing the emergency brake, turning on the ignition, or triggering the alarm. If reservation mode is cancelled, you will need to get in the vehicle and repeat the setup process.

IV. Additional Features

1. RPS UNLOCK

The RPS must be programmed in order to have the coded unlock and disarm feature on your CompuStar. This can be used in the event you lose your remote or destroy it. This programming can only be done if the CompuStar is disarmed.

1) RPS default code is 3,3,0,0

2) Leave driver’s door open. Turn key to the ignition on position.

3) Knock on RPS a total of 10 times. LED will begin to flash rapidly on RPS

4) Enter the first number by knocking on the RPS the amount of times for number 1. The LED will flash the first number slowly.

5) Once the LED begins flashing rapidly knock on the RPS to enter the second number.

6) Follow steps 4 to 5 to program the last two numbers.

7) Turn ignition off and RPS Unlock code should be programmed.

8) To enter RPS unlock follow steps 3 to 5

9) If the RPS unlock code is already set and you set the Valet Switch then it overwrites the first two digits of the RPS code

2. Reservation Lock (Manual Transmission Only)

With this option on and when setting up your vehicle for remote start, the vehicle would shut down and arm once all the doors are closed. This option sets reservation 10 seconds after all the doors on your vehicle are closed. You are given 10 seconds to open another door to retrieve groceries or a child in the back seat.

3. Auto Relock (This differs from Auto Mode as it is available on all CompuStar systems)

This setting monitors the system and automatically relocks/rearms your CompuStar if the doors have not been opened and system accidentally disarmed. Auto relock is also useful if you disarm your system and have to go back inside but forget to rearm. You have the option of waiting 30 sec., 60 sec. or 5 minutes before your system will relock/rearm.

4. Remote Start Runtime

The runtime must be set by your CompuStar dealer. You have the option of having your vehicle run for 3 minutes, 15 minutes, 25 minutes, or 45 minutes. Your vehicle will run for the set time but you can also reset the run time.

5. Dome Light Supervision

Additional installation may be required for this feature. With this feature on you have dome light illumination for 45 seconds. The dome light will only come on upon disarm of your CompuStar.

6. Starter Kill

Additional installation may be required for this feature. This feature disables the vehicle when the CompuStar is armed and alarm triggered. When starter kill is enabled you are unable to start the vehicle with the key.

7. Anti Grind

Additional installation may be required for this feature. When you remote start your vehicle and disarm and enter you must put the vehicle’s key in the ignition and turn it forward. When you turn the key forward there is a chance of overturning the starter. With anti-grind installed then you cannot over grind your starter on your vehicle.

8. Anti-Jacking

Additional installation may be required for this feature. This feature prevents a thief from stealing your car once they drive off. In the event that you are car jacked and have your CompuStar remote in hand you just panic the system. After 30 seconds of panic your vehicle will shut off and the thief will not be able to restart.

9. Factory Alarm Option (Only Available on Starter Only Systems)

Additional installation may be required for this feature. With the factory alarm option set it turns your starter only system into basic alarm. With the system armed/locked and you open a door the horn on your vehicle will begin honking.

V. Remote Icons

Common Icons – These icons are used on all systems that use this remote.

Lock/Arm – Unlock/Disarm

This icon indicates whether the alarm locked/armed or unlocked/disarmed. While armed, the system will monitor the doors, trunk, hood, shock sensor, and aux inputs. If any of these inputs are triggered while the system is armed, the alarm will be triggered.

Trunk Release

This icon will be displayed when the trunk release function has been activated. By default, the system will be disarmed and the doors will unlock before the trunk is released.

Signal Strength

This icon is displayed if the last communication to the vehicle was successful.

Valet Mode

This icon will be displayed while you are in Valet mode. While in valet mode, the system will not perform any functions other than panic and lock or unlock. The alarm will not arm or disarm while locking or unlocking. If any other function is attempted, “Sleep” will be displayed. The system will not monitor the alarm triggers while in Valet mode. There are various ways of activating Valet mode, please discuss your preference with your installer.

Battery Indicator

This icon displays the remaining battery life left in 25% increments.

Clock

Displays current time, remote start runtime, turbo mode time remaining, inside temperature of the vehicle, battery voltage the vehicle, failure of signal transfer.

Starter Icons

These icons are used on starter only or alarm/starter systems that use this remote.

Engine Running

This icon will be displayed while the vehicle is running when it has been remote-started. This icon will be displayed the entire time the vehicle is running while the clock displays the remaining runtime.

Start Availability

This icon will be displayed when the vehicle is ready to be remote-started. If this icon is not displayed, you will not be able to remote-start the vehicle.

Timer Mode

This icon will be displayed when Timer mode is active. Timer mode can be set up to start the vehicle every 1.5, 3, or 24 hours.

Alarm Icons

These icons are used on alarm only or alarm/starter systems that use this remote.

Siren

This icon will be displayed if the siren is turned on. Turning the siren off only applies to the chirps when arming, disarming, or remote-starting.

Hood

This icon will be displayed if the hood is opened while the system is armed. The remote will beep rapidly while displaying this icon. This means that the alarm was triggered. If this icon appears while trying to remote-start the vehicle, it means that the vehicle will not start because the hood is open.

Impact

This icon will be displayed if an impact to the vehicle is detected while the system is armed. The remote will beep rapidly while displaying this icon if the impact is hard; this means that the alarm was triggered. If it beeps slowly while displaying this icon, that means that the impact was soft and that the alarm simply gave four warning chirps.

Door

This icon will be displayed if the door is opened while the system is armed. The remote will beep rapidly while displaying this icon. This means that the alarm was triggered. If this icon appears while trying to remote-start the vehicle, it means that the vehicle will not start because the hood is open.

Trunk

This icon will be displayed if the trunk is opened while the system is armed. The remote will beep rapidly while displaying this icon. This means that the alarm was triggered. If this icon appears while trying to remote-start the vehicle, it means that the vehicle will not start because the trunk is open.

Car Call

This icon will be displayed while someone is attempting to contact you using the RPS sensor. To trigger the RPS sensor, you must knock on the windshield where the sensor is located. Something that creates a higher pitch, like a key, is better suited to trigger the RPS.

Advanced Icons

These icons are used on alarm only or alarm/starter systems that use this remote.

Passive Mode

This icon will be displayed if Passive mode is currently active. Passive mode will automatically arm the system 30 seconds after the last door is closed or 30 seconds after the system was disarmed if no door was opened. This mode is ignored while the ignition is on with the key.

Drive Lock

This icon will be displayed if Drive Lock mode is currently active. Drive Lock mode will lock the doors automatically if the ignition is on and the brake is pressed or if the ignition is on and the engine exceeds the idle RPM multiplied by 2, depending on the options set by the installer. The doors will be unlocked when the ignition is turned off. In a manual transmission vehicle the doors will unlock when the emergency brake is set.

Turbo Mode

This icon will be displayed if Turbo mode is currently active. While Turbo mode is active, the vehicle will remain running for a preset time after the ignition has shut down if the emergency brake is set before the ignition is turned off.

This will be displayed while you are in 2 nd

Car mode allows you to control another vehicle with the same system installed in it. The

Car mode for this feature to work.

Vibration

This icon will be displayed if the remote is set to vibrate only. While the remote is set to vibrate only the remote will not beep, even if the alarm is triggered. The remote will still vibrate in this mode.

Alarm Clock

This icon will be displayed if the Alarm Clock function is turned on. When the clock reaches the preset time, the remote will beep and flash the alarm clock icon. Press button IV for 0.5 sec. to silence the remote.

Shock Sensor Bypassed

This icon will be displayed when the shock sensor is bypassed by pressing buttons I+III for 2.5 sec. Impact to the vehicle will not be detected at this time. This icon is always displayed on starter only systems because there is no shock sensor.

Safety Information

Please take these safety precautions under the following conditions:

1. Servicing the vehicle

When servicing (i.e. changing the oil, washing your car) your vehicle, the CompuStar system should be placed in Valet Mode. There is a safety shutdown switch under the hood that deactivates the remote starter function if the hood is open. However, if the switch has been damaged or has been installed improperly, the vehicle may start when the key button is held down for 2.5 seconds even if the hood is open.

2. Loaning your vehicle to others

Whenever you loan your vehicle to an individual who is not familiar with the CompuStar system, please put the vehicle in Valet Mode. This will prevent the vehicle loaner from accidentally activating the CompuStar auto-security system.

3. For manual transmission vehicles

If the CompuStar system is installed in a manual transmission vehicle, extra precautions should be taken as the system does not monitor the gear placement.

Important!

Under normal circumstances, Reservation Mode is cancelled when a door or rear hatch opens. Please verify that the opening of any door or rear hatch cancels

Reservation Mode. If any of the doors or rear hatch are not monitored by the CompuStar due to improper installation or a faulty door or dome light switch, do not use the ComupStar and take your vehicle to the dealer immediately for repair. Do not set Reservation Mode when the window(s) are open or if there is anyone inside of the vehicle including animals.

Limited Lifetime Consumer Warranty

Firstech, LLC Warrants to the original purchaser that this product shall be free of defects in material and workmanship under normal use and circumstances for the period of time that the original owner of this product owns the vehicle in which it is installed; except that the remote controller unit for the period of one year from the date of installation to the original owner of this product. Your Warranty

The product’s warranty is automatically void if its date code or serial number is defaced, missing or altered. This warranty will not be valid unless you have completed the registration card and mailed it to Firstech, LLC., or complete online at www.compustar.com within 10 days after the purchase to the address listed on the registration card.
