Before Getting Started

Before you begin installation of your AccuShot Fertilizer

System, read these instructions carefully and check that all parts and tools in kit are accounted for. All hand and specialty tools for installation are provided at owner’s expense. Please retain these installation instructions for future reference and parts ordering information.

These installation instructions contain information for assembling the AccuShot Fertilizer System to the main machine. Please read all instructions in your planter operator manual thoroughly before proceeding. Your operator manual includes information on operation, adjustment, troubleshooting, and maintenance for this attachment (some manual sections do not apply to all accessories).

Instructions contain information for all makes and models of the applicable machines.

General Information

The AccuShot Fertilizer System provides a dose of liquid application per seed placed at a predefined location relative to the seed.

AccuShot Fertilizer System

Installation Instructions

Preparation

Before you begin installation of your AccuShot fertilizer system, hook the planter to a tractor and move the opener lock handles to “Field”. Unfold the planter and lower the openers to the ground. Place the remote lever in float position to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure. Clean the area around the fan flow control valves by washing or using compressed air.

Getting Started

Check that all parts in the kit are accounted for. Refer

to the parts list starting on page 11. Make sure to

refer to the correct parts lists for your planter.

Make sure any required tools are on hand. See

“Recommended Manuals” on page 1 for a general list of recommended tools for installation.

Familiarize yourself with the machine operator manual and operating hydraulics before starting.

1 Install Liquid Fertilizer Tanks

If your planter has the liquid fertilizer option already installed, go to

“Existing Liquid Fertilizer

Components” on page 3.

1a. Liquid Fertilizer Tanks Installation

Install a right-hand tank support (26) and left-hand tank support (27) to each liquid fertilizer tank (28) with four

inch bolts (1) and flange nuts

Install the tank assemblies onto the planter frame using two

-13 5 x 7 inch corner bolts (41) and flange nuts (36) at the front of the frame. Use two

-10 7 inch square corner bolts (40) and flange lock nuts (36).

Install the two hose loop guides (31) to the front of the planter frame with four

1b. Liquid Fertilizer Plumbing

Install the right tank fill (30) into the bottom of the right-hand tank.

Remove the plug (1) from the right-hand side of the tank and install an elbow (46).

Install the left tank fill (32) into the bottom of the left-hand tank.

Remove the plug (1) from the right-hand side of the tank and install an adapter (45), ball valve (42), another adapter (45), and the tee (44). On the end of the tee facing the front of the planter, install the valve

(43), and on the other end of the tee, install an elbow

(46).

2 Existing Liquid Fertilizer

Components

If your planter has an existing liquid fertilizer option with ground drive, use these instructions. If your planter does not, go to

“AccuShot Fertilizer Pump” on page 5

Possible Chemical Hazard:

Wear proper protective equipment as required by chemical manufacturer. Avoid prolonged breathing of chemical fumes.

Wear respirator as required by chemical manufacturer. Some chemicals will cause serious burns, lung damage, and death.

Avoid contact with skin or eyes. Seek medical assistance immediately if accident occurs. Know what to do in case of an accident.

Follow instructions in the Operator’s Manual to clean out the fertilizer tanks.

2a. Remove Pump Drive

Locate the John-Blue pump (1) on your machine.

Loosen the flanges (2) and remove the two elbows

(3) from the pump.

2b. Remove Plumbing

All existing plumbing will be removed from the fertilizer tanks and replaced with new plumbing.

Remove all necessary plumbing to remove the valves (1) from the bottom of each fertilizer tank.

Remove the fertilizer ground drive (1) by removing both u-bolts (2) and nuts (3). Remove the fertilizer contact wheel assembly with pump attached.

Loosen the hose clamp (1) and remove hose (2) from the boom elbow.

The fertilizer pump (29) should be pre-assembled and ready for installation.

Attach the mounting to the planter frame, as shown, with two

3a. Hydraulic Connections

The illustration below shows the existing hydraulic hose routing for your machine. Two hoses will need to be disconnected and will be reconnected to the fertilizer pump assembly. Three locations (flow control valve, hydraulic pump, and Veris valve/filter canister) are areas where new components will be added and new hoses connected.

Find the existing hydraulic hose (1) from the flow control valve (2) to the hydraulic motor (3). At the hydraulic motor, disconnect the hydraulic hose from the adapter (4).

Disconnect the hydraulic hose (5) from the elbow above the inline valve on the hydraulic motor.

Remove the adapter (7) between the Veris valve (8) and the filter canister (9).

Install a tee (9) between the Veris valve and the filter canister. Connect the hydraulic hose (10) from the

PWM valve to the tee.

Route the existing hydraulic hose (1) from the flow control valve (2) to the load shuttle valve (3).

Route the other existing hydraulic hose (4) to the tee

(5) on the pump (6). Route the hydraulic hose (7) from the other end of the tee to the elbow on the inline valve on the hydraulic motor.

Route the hydraulic hose (8) from the elbow on the load shuttle valve (3) to the adapter on the hydraulic motor.

(25) to the valve harness (51). Plug in connector B on the extension harness to controller connection B.

Plug in connector C on the accessory harness (58) to controller connection C. Plug in connector D on the power harness (57) to controller connection D.

Route the power harness along the planter tongue.

At the back of the planter, remove the module (1) and keep all hardware. Install the controller mount

(14) and reinstall the module using the existing hardware.

For twin-row planters - Plug in the extension harness (12) to the valve harness (53). Plug in connectors A and B on the extension harness to controller connections A and B. Plug in connector C on the accessory harness (58) to controller connection C. Plug in connector D on the power harness (57) to controller connection D.

Route the power harness along the planter tongue.

5 AccuShot Wetboom

The wetboom is shipped in two pieces.

Connect the two wetboom assemblies (1) with a tee

(2). Install an elbow (3) to the tee.

On each side of the planter tongue, install the other

Put a hose clamp on the end of the 1 inch ID hose

(1) from the flowmeter and connect the end of the hose to the elbow (2) on the wetboom. Tighten the hose clamp.

6b. Valve Harness Connections

Starting on the left-hand side, route the valve harness so each valve (1) on the wetboom aligns with a connector (2) on the harness. Plug in wetboom valves to the valve harness.

Secure the harness with ties included in the kit.

Plug in a seed sensor harness (13) to each valve harness connector (3).

6 Connect Harnesses

6a. Accessory Harness Connections

Route the accessory harness along the planter frame to the fertilizer pump on the left-hand side.

Plug in the connector (1) to the PWM valve on the fertilizer pump.

Plug in the pressure sensor (61) to the accessory harness and the tee (2) attached to the flowmeter.

Plug in the flowmeter adapter cable (3) to the accessory harness.

Plug in the GPS sensor (59) to the accessory harness.

7 AccuShot Blade Separator

7a. Remove Existing Scraper Separator

Starting with the first opener on the left-hand side of the machine, remove side gauge wheel (1) and hardware.

Remove disk blade (2) and hardware.

Drive out roll pins (3) to remove the existing scraper separator (4).

 NOTE

On some scraper separators, you may need to remove the elbow (5) first.

7b.AccuShot Blade Separator Installation

Insert new AccuShot blade separator (1) and secure with roll pins (2).

 NOTE

If roll pins are lost or damaged, order replacements using part number 805-335C.

Attach one piece of 78 inch long

inch tubing (55) to the solenoid nozzle aligned with the opener. Route the tubing down to the opener. Attach the tubing to the elbow on the blade separator and fasten with a locking clip.

Route fertilizer tube (1) on the blade separator through the opener shield and attach the elbow (50).

Secure the elbow with a locking clip (48).

Reinstall the disk blade and side gauge wheel onto the opener.

See your planter Operator’s Manual for opener adjustments, if necessary.

Secure the tubing to the opener using supplied zip ties.

Repeat the procedure for the blade separator for each opener.

8 Finishing Installation

Make sure all hardware is tightened to the correct torque from the

“Torque Values Chart” on page 10.

Secure hoses and electrical harnesses with cable ties as necessary to avoid wear.

Start Guide for further instructions on operation and maintenance of your AccuShot Fertilizer System.
