Frequently Answers and Questions
I'm getting a leak from my valve. What could be the cause?
Inspect the top surfaces of the hot and cold seats. If they are worn, replace them. Also inspect the hot and cold washers for wear or foreign matter. If you find any, replace them.
When I switch from cold to hot water, the volume of water changes. Why is that?
The pressure-balancing piston housed in the spindle assembly may be blocked by foreign matter. Remove the spindle assembly and tap the handle end against a solid object to free the piston. You can also soak the assembly in household vinegar to remove foreign matter.
I'm getting less hot water than I used to. What's the problem?
There may be an overdraw on the hot water supply. Reduce the maximum flow by using the volume control adjustment on the valve or shower head.
When I set the diverter to the shower position, I get a trickle of water from the tub spout. Is that normal?
Yes, this is a design function of the valve to ensure safe operation. The trickle of water is necessary to ensure that the valve will be shut off at the main handle and not with the diverter handle.
I'm getting hot water when I initially open the valve, but it turns colder as I rotate the handle. What's wrong?
The valve is piped incorrectly. The hot supply is piped to the cold inlet and the cold supply is piped to the hot inlet of the valve. Correct the piping connections.
