Introduction

This document provides an example for configuring terminal access binding to bind a terminal to one or more switch interfaces.

Prerequisites

Before you configure terminal access binding, complete the following configurations:

Make sure the switch has been added to IMC.

Make sure the terminal that needs binding is directly connected to the switch and the terminal is communicating with the switch correctly.

Obtain the MAC address of the terminal that needs binding.

Configuration restrictions and guidelines

The terminal might have multiple NICs. As a best practice, configure each NIC on the terminal when you configure terminal access binding.

Example: Configuring terminal access binding

Network requirements

As shown in Figure 1 , configure terminal access binding so that the PC can access the network only

through the interfaces bound to it.

Configuring IMC

1. Log in to IMC.

2. Click the Resource tab.

3. From the navigation tree, select Terminal Access > Access Configuration .

The Access Configuration page appears.

4. Click Terminal Access Binding .

The Terminal Access Binding page appears.

5. Click Add Binding .

The Add Terminal Access Binding page appears.

6. In the Basic Information area, enter the MAC address of the PC that needs binding in the

Terminal MAC field.

If Yes is selected from the Binding to All Interfaces list, the terminal can access the network through any switch interface.

7. In the Interface List area, click Add and select a switch interface.

8. Click OK .

Verifying the configuration

Connect the bound PC to any switch interface except Ethernet 1/0/20, for example, Ethernet 1/0/19. The following events will occur the next time IMC synchronizes the switch:

1. The Alarm Details

page for the switch appears and displays alarm information, as shown in Figure

4 .

4

2. The switch uses the unauthorized access processing policy and shuts down the interface Ethernet

1/0/19 after 100 seconds, as shown in Figure 5 .

Figure 5 The switch shuts down the interface after 100 seconds

3.

The switch brings up the interface Ethernet 1/0/19 after another 100 seconds, as shown in Figure 6 .
