SAFETY GUIDE - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Please follow all the safety precautions listed below for safety and to reduce the risk of fire, injury or electrical shock.

Read the following instructions carefully before using the heated throw and retain the instructions for future use. If you pass this product to a third person, please include these instructions.

Remove any packaging material and promotional stickers before using the heated throw for the first time.

ELECTRICAL CAUTIONS

• Fully unwind the power cord before use.

Use the heated throw only with the detachable controller provided.

If any abnormality or defect in operation of this appliance is observed, discontinue its use immediately and consult a retailer’s service agent or similarly qualified person.

Regularly inspect the supply cords, plugs, controllers and throw to ensure that the appliance is in serviceable condition. If found damaged in any way, immediately cease use of the throw as a safety hazard may exist.

It is recommended that a qualified and registered person inspect your heated throw after each 3 years of use.

The appliance is supplied with a specially designed controller and no attempt should be made to repair it.

There are no serviceable parts inside the product.

Use this product only on a 220-240VAC mains supply.

When removing the plug from the mains supply, hold the plug not the power cord.

The mains plug is the ultimate means of disconnection from the mains supply. At all times the mains supply plug must be unobstructed and freely operable.

The installation of a residual current device

(safety switch) is recommended to provide additional safety protection when using

HT10 Heated Throw User Manual electrical appliances. It is advisable that a safety switch with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA be installed in the electrical circuit supplying the appliance.

Consult your electrician for professional advice.

WARNING: If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

INSTALLATION CAUTIONS

• This appliance is to be used as a wrap only. It is not an electric blanket or over blanket. It is not designed for all-night use.

• Do not use the throw rucked, rolled or folded.

Spread it out fully.

Keep the control unit away from open windows.

Do not use pins or sharp objects with this product – they may damage the electric wiring.

Do not coil or lay the flexible lead on the throw.

This appliance is for domestic use only. It is not intended for use in hospitals.

Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use. Do not use outdoors.

CAUTIONS IN USE

Do not pull the heated throw by the flexible cord or use the cord to carry it. Do not attempt to expose the internal wires.

Do not sit on, crease or crush the heated throw or leave heavy objects on the throw when it is switched on.

Do not use under clothing, wraps or blankets.

Do not fall asleep when using the heated throw. This product is not intended for use while sleeping.

Do not tuck in the heated throw.

To avoid overheating, this throw must be kept in the fully spread condition at all times during use.

Switch off at the power outlet and remove the plug when the heated throw is not in actual use.

It is dangerous to use a hot water bottle at the same time as this appliance.

Do not use the heated throw with an infant, an infirm person or anyone unable to detect or regulate the temperature for themselves.

The heated throw is not to be used by young children, unless the controls have been preset by a parent or guardian, or unless the child has been adequately instructed on how to operate the controls safely.

The heated throw is not to be used on or by an invalid, a sleeping or unconcious person, or a person with poor blood circulation.

Use only for human use, not for pets.

Extended application at a high setting may result in skin irritation or burns.

Do not use on areas of sensitive skin, or areas insensitive to heat.

Do not switch the power on if the heated throw is wet or in a folded state.

This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliances by a person responsible for their safety.

Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

If the throw gets soiled, follow the cleaning instructions in full.

Do not switch the throw on if it is wet or after washing. Allow it to dry naturally.

Do not dry-clean the throw. Cleaning liquids may damage the insulation or covering of the heating unit.

Avoid pressing creases into the appliance.

When storing, allow the throw to cool fully before folding. Fold neatly, but not tightly (or roll) in the original packaging without sharp bends in the heating element and store where no other objects will be placed upon it.

PREPARATIONS FOR USE

Remove all exterior packaging from the appliance.

Carefully remove the heated throw from the polythene storage bag. Retain the bag for future use. If you dispose of any packaging please do so according to any recycling regulations.

CONNECTING THE CONTROLLER

The controller plug connects to the socket on the heated throw.

Connecting the controller plug

Push the plug fully home into the socket, ensuring that the security latch has engaged on the pin at the side of the plug.

NOTE: The plugs are polarised so will only fit the socket when correctly aligned.

CAUTION: Always hold both the plug and socket when connecting or disconnecting the controller.

NEVER pull on the cable or throw to disconnect the controller plug.

OPERATION & CONTROLS

Your heated throw is designed to be laid over you to provide personal warmth when you are sitting, relaxing in a chair. It is not intended to be used under or over bedclothes.

Connect the controller plug to the socket on the throw as described in the previous section.

Slide the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position.

Connect the mains plug to a wall outlet and switch the outlet on.

Open the throw out fully and lay it evenly over you to provide warmth where you are feeling cold, keeping the controller within reach.

Never ruck the throw or use it folded.

5. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.

The power indicator will light and the heat setting display will read ‘0’.

6. Referring to the table below, press the heat setting button to change the heat setting to the number you want.

The heated throw will begin to warm up. After 15-20 minutes the heat from the throw will stabilise.

At any time you can press the heat setting button to change the heat setting. For continuous use, a low setting in the range 1-3 is recommended.

CAUTION: Do not leave the heated throw in contact with the skin for excessive periods of time.

Carefully follow the cautions in the ‘CAUTIONS IN

USE’ section when using your throw. Always turn down the heat setting or switch the throw off if you are feeling too hot. Switch off the throw if you are planning to take a nap.

After use:

When you have finished using your heated throw, slide the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position, and unplug the throw from the wall outlet.

Allow it to cool. Fold it neatly, but not tightly (or roll it) in the original packaging without sharp bends in the heating element and store where no other objects will be placed upon it.

Auto switch off:

If the heated throw is used for a period greater than 10 hours, it will switch off automatically and the heat setting display will flash ‘0’.

To continue using the throw, slide the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position, then back to ON.

Thermal protection:

If the heated throw overheats due to use when folded etc, it will switch off automatically and the heat setting will flash ‘0’. In this case, turn off the heated throw, open it out and allow it to cool before using it again.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Cleaning:

Always unplug and remove the controller from the heated throw before cleaning.

This heated throw is washable in accordance with the following cautions and instructions -

Do not wring the throw.

Do not bleach or dry clean.

Do not iron.

Do not use moth balls.

Washing instructions:

Immerse the throw in a luke warm neutral detergent or mild soapy solution.

Soak for five minutes, remove from the solution, and gently squeeze the solution through the throw.

Rinse the throw thoroughly in clean luke warm water, gently squeeze and drain the excess water from the throw.

Machine washing:

Your heated throw can be washed in a domestic washing machine (size permitting) or by a commercial laundry.

To wash your throw in a domestic washing machine, wash on the WOOL or DELICATES setting using a neutral wool detergent or mild soapy solution.

DO NOT wash on a HOT cycle, the temperature must be kept below 40°C.

Do not use high speed or extra spin cycles.

Do not machine wash with the controller connected to the throw.

Drying:

Drape the throw across a clothes line and drip dry.

DO NOT use pegs to secure the throw in position.

DO NOT dry with a hair dryer or heater.

Tumble drying:

You may tumble dry your throw on LOW setting for 15 minutes MAXIMUM.

Smooth the throw by gently pulling any creases out of the fabric.

Do not dry with the controller connected to the throw.

Storage:

When not in use, allow the throw to cool then fold neatly but not tightly (or roll) in the original packaging without sharp bends in the heating element. Store where no other objects will be placed upon it.
