Intended use
Your BLACK+DECKER TM GMF1400-B5 Multifunction Hotpot
Grill has been designed for grilling, baking, roasting, boiling, frying and stewing food as described in this manual. Do not use this appliance for any other purpose. This appliance is intended for indoor household use only.
This appliance is intended to be used in:
• Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
• Farm houses;
• By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
• Bed and breakfast type environments;

Safety instructions
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years.
• Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
• This product is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
The surface of the grill is liable to get hot during use.

Using your appliance
• Always use oven gloves when moving the Grill & approaching hot surfaces.
• Do not touch hot surfaces.
• Always take care when using the appliance.
• Unit must be attended in use.
• Never pull the power supply cord to disconnect the plug from the socket.
• Always route the power supply cord neatly so it does not hang over the edge of a worktop and cannot be caught accidentally or tripped over.
• Keep the power supply cord away from heat, oil and sharp edges.
• Do not damage, excessively bend, stretch, twist or clamp the power cord. No heavy objects must be placed on the power supply cord.
• Always route the cord carefully so it does not create a tripping hazard.
• Do not allow the power supply cord to hang over the edge of your work top or table.
• Always place the appliance on a level surface with adequate free space on all sides.
• Do not place the appliance below a socket outlet. Do not place the appliance on a wet or slippery surface. Do not place the appliance on or near heat sources or in a heated oven.
• Do not use the appliance near flammable or explosive materials.
• Do not put flammable materials such as paper, plastic or store any other articles in the grill pan, to avoid a fire hazard.
• Do not use the appliance outdoors.
• Always protect the appliance from water or excessive humidity.
• Do not move the appliance when in use.
• Operate the appliance only with dry hands.
• Do not use the appliance if you have bare feet.

• If the power supply cord is damaged during use, disconnect the appliance from the power supply immediately. Do not touch the power supply cord before disconnecting from the power supply.
• The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high when the appliance is operating and for some time afterwards.
• Appliance may emit steam during use.
• Disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not in use, before fitting or removing parts and before cleaning.
• Allow the appliance to cool down to room temperature before cleaning.
Safety of others
• Never leave an appliance unattended when in use.
• Do not allow children or any person unfamiliar with these instructions to use the appliance.
• Do not allow children or animals to come near the work area or to touch the appliance or power supply cord.
• Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children.
Inspection and repairs
• Before use, check the appliance for damaged or defective parts. Check for breakage of parts, damage to switches and any other conditions that may affect its operation.
• Do not use the appliance if any part is damaged or defective.
• Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself, instead have any damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced by an authorised repair agent.
• Before use, check the power supply cord for signs of damage, ageing and wear.
• Do not use the appliance if the power supply cord or mains plug is damaged or defective.
• Never attempt to remove or replace any parts other than those specified in this manual.
Electrical safety

This product must be earthed. Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or appliance in water or other liquid.
Extension cables & class 1 product
If an extension lead is required a 3 core cable must be used as your appliance is earthed and of class 1 construction.
• Up to 30m (100ft) can be used without loss of power.
• Power plugs must match the outlet. never modify the plug in anyway. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed
(Class 1) appliances. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.
Specific safety requirements of the grill
• Cook only in the bowl & accessories supplied.
• Cooking bowl & accessories get hot in use and care is required when handing them.
• Do not use the grill without the base fitted.
• Do not immerse the power cord, plug, electric griddle or main body in water or other liquids to prevent the risk of electric shock.
• Do not directly touch the grill/ plate surface during operation. Wait for at least 15 minutes after disconnecting power supply, to allow the plates to cool down before handling.
• The grill / griddle plate will get hot during use and will remain hot for a period of time after use.
• The outer surface of the appliance might be hot during or after use. Do not touch the appliance without adequate protection.
• Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
• Always use plastic, rubber or wooden utensils when cooking or serving. If using metal utensils, be careful not to scrape the non stick finish.
• We recommend this unit is not used to defrost food.
• Switch off the appliance before cleaning, changing accessories or approaching parts which move in use.

• Connector must be removed before the appliance is cleaned and the appliance inlet must be dried before the appliance is used again.
• Do not move the product during operation to avoid scalding due to high temperature ingredients.
• The product must be used at an appropriate distance from walls, furniture and other combustible items such as curtains.
• When the product is not in use for a long time, the plug must be removed from the socket.

Use
Preheating
• Place the unit on a suitable, heat resistant flat surface.
• Place a clean plate/bowl on the main body. Ensure that the mounting mark on the plate/bowl aligns with the mounting mark on the main body.
• Brush the plate/bowl with a proper amount of cooking oil.
• Insert the power cord into the socket and turn the temperature control knob to "High" to initiate heating.
• Preheat for 3 to 5 minutes and then place the food on the plate/bowl.
• Its recommended to stir the food at regular intervals during cooking, to ensure even cooking.
• Adjust the temperature as per your requirement.
• After use, unplug the appliance and wait for it to cool before moving or cleaning.
Note: To ensure best cooking results, it is recommended to replace the cooking oil after each use.

Grilling
Before first use
• Remove all packaging from the appliance.
• Clean the appliance before first use.
• Clean the housing and cooking plates with a damp cloth.
• Lightly grease the cooking surfaces with a piece of butter or a little oil before the unit is used for the first time.
• When using for the first time, a small amount of oil smoke will evaporate from the plates and the heating tubes. This a normal phenomenon.
• Plug the appliance into the socket and preheat the grill as described above.
• Once preheated, the grill is now ready for cooking, frying or searing food.
• Place the food on the grill plate and adjust the temperature as per your requirement.
• Do not use metallic tools or utensils to handle the food, to prevent damage to the non-stick coating.
• Once the food is cooked, carefully remove the food from the grill without touching the grill plate directly.
• Turn off the appliance by turning the temperature control knob to 'OFF' position followed by unplugging it from the socket.
• Allow the appliance to cool down to room temperature before further handling.

Hotpot
• Plug the appliance into the socket and preheat the bowl as described above.
• Food items such as curries, soups, shabu-shabu, Asian style hotpots can be cooked using this attachment.
• Place the food inside the bowl before preheating or after, based on your convenience and food type.
• If liquids are added to the bowl after preheating, care should be taken to avoid splatter.
• Adjust the temperature control knob to the desired position and place the lid on the bowl.
• Do not use metallic tools or utensils to handle the food, to prevent damage to the non-stick coating.
• If food is added to boiling/hot liquids in the bowl, care should be taken to avoid touching the bowl directly and to prevent splashing.
• Once the food is cooked, carefully remove the lid from the bowl and access the food.
• If food is to be transferred from the bowl into another utensil, heat resistant gloves must be used to handle the appliance or the appliance has to be turned off and allowed to be cooled down.
• Before disassembling, ensure to turn off the appliance by turning the temperature control knob to 'OFF' position followed by unplugging it from the socket.
• Allow the appliance to cool down to room temperature before further handling.
Baking
• Make sure to add uncooked food only into the slots provided to prevent spillage.
• Adjust the temperature control knob to the required position and place the lid on the bowl.
• Do not use metallic tools or utensils to handle the food, to prevent damage to the non-stick coating.
• If food is to be transferred from the bowl into another utensil, heat resistant gloves must be used to handle the appliance or the appliance has to be turned off and allowed to be cooled down.
• Before disassembling, ensure to turn off the appliance by turning the temperature control knob to 'OFF' position followed by unplugging it from the socket.
• Allow the appliance to cool down to room temperature before further handling.

After use
• Switch off and remove the plug from the socket before leaving the appliance unattended and before changing, cleaning or inspecting any parts of the appliance.
• When not in use, the appliance should be stored in a dry place. Children should not have access to stored appliances.

Cleaning and maintenance
Warning!
Before cleaning and maintenance, switch the appliance off, remove the plug from the socket and allow the appliance to cool.
Warning!
Do not immerse the appliance or the cord set or the plug in water or any other liquid.
• Do not wash any part of the unit in a dishwasher.
• Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.
• Do not use scouring pads.
• If necessary, use a mild detergent to remove spots. Do not use any abrasive or solvent based cleaner.
Note: Do not rinse the main body of the appliance directly with water.

Mains plug replacement
If a new mains plug needs to be fitted:
• Safely dispose of the old plug.
• Connect the brown lead to the live terminal of the new plug.
• Connect the blue lead to the neutral terminal.
• If the product is class l (earthed), connect the green / yellow lead to the earth terminal.
Warning! If your product is class ll double insulated (only 2 wires in the cord set), no connection is to be made to the earth terminal.
Follow the fitting instructions supplied with good quality plugs. Any replacement fuse must be of the same rating as the original fuse supplied with the product.

Rallonges & appareils de classe 1

• Une longueur de 30m (100 pieds) peut être utilisée sans perte de puissance.
• La fiche de l’appareil doit correspondre à la prise. Ne jamais modifier la fiche de quelque façon que ce soit. Ne pas utiliser d’adaptateurs avec des appareils de type mis
à la terre (Classe 1). Des fiches non modifiées avec des prises correspondantes réduisent les risques de chocs
électriques.
Inspection et réparations
• Avant d’utiliser l’appareil, vérifier qu’aucune pièce ne soit endommagée ou défectueuse. Vérifier la présence de pièces cassées, d’interrupteurs endommagés ou toute autre condition qui pourraient affecter son fonctionnement.
• Ne pas utiliser l’appareil si une pièce est endommagée ou défectueuse.
• Ne tentez jamais de réparer l’appareil vous-même, mais faites réparer les parties endommagées ou défectueuses par un réparateur agréé.
• Avant utilisation, vérifier l’état du cordon d’alimentation pour des signes de dommages, de vieillissement ou d’usure.

Exigences de sécurité spécifiques au grill
• Effectuez la cuisson uniquement dans le bol et les accessoires fournis.
• Le bol de cuisson et les accessoires deviennent chauds lors de l’utilisation, il faut donc les manipuler avec précaution.
• Ne pas utiliser le grill sans son socle.
• Ne plongez pas le cordon électrique, la prise, le gril
électrique ou le corps principal dans l’eau ou d’autres liquides pour éviter tout risque de choc électrique.
• Ne touchez pas directement la surface du gril ou de la plaque pendant le fonctionnement. Attendez au moins 15 minutes après avoir coupé l’alimentation, pour laisser refroidir les plaques avant de les manipuler.
• Ne pas plonger le cordon du thermostat dans de l’eau ou tout autre liquide.
• La surface extérieure de l’appareil peut être chaude pendant ou après l’utilisation. Ne touchez pas l’appareil sans protection adéquate.
• La grille / la plaque à rôtir devient chaude pendant le fonctionnement et restera chaude pendant un certain temps après son utilisation.
• Avant d’enlever la grille pour server à table, retirer le cordon du thermostat.
• Soyez extrêmement prudent lorsque vous déplacez l’appareil contenant de l’huile chaude ou tout autre liquide chaud.
• Ne pas placer sur ou près d’un brûleur électrique ou d’un four chaud.

• Lors de la première utilisation, une petite quantité de fumée d’huile se dégagera des plaques et des tubes de chauffage. Il s’agit d’un phénomène normal.

Préchauffage
FRANÇAIS
• Placez l’appareil sur une surface stable et convenable qui résiste à la chaleur.
• Placez une plaque / un bol propre sur le corps principal.
Vérifiez que le repère de montage de la plaque/le bol est aligné avec le repère de montage du corps principal.
• Brossez la plaque/le bol avec une quantité adéquate d’huile de cuisson.
• Insérez le cordon électrique dans la prise et faites tournez le bouton de réglage de la température pour le placer sur « High » pour commencer à faire chauffer.
• Préchauffez pendant 3 à 5 minutes, puis placez la nourriture sur la plaque/le bol.
• Il est recommandé de mélanger la nourriture à intervalles réguliers pendant la cuisson, afin d’assurer une cuisson uniforme.
• Réglez la température selon vos besoins.
• Après utilisation, débranchez l’appareil et attendez qu’il refroidisse avant de le déplacer ou de le nettoyer.
Remarque : Pour garantir des résultats de cuisson optimaux, il est recommandé de remplacer l’huile de cuisson après chaque utilisation.

Avant la première utilisation
• Retirer entièrement l’emballage de l’appareil.

• Placez la nourriture sur la plaque de gril et réglez la température selon vos besoins.
• N’utilisez pas d’outils ou d’ustensiles métalliques pour manipuler la nourriture, afin d’éviter d’endommager le revêtement anti-adhésif.
• Après la cuisson, retirez soigneusement la nourriture du gril sans toucher la plaque directement.
• Éteignez l’appareil en faisant tourner le bouton de réglage de la température jusqu’à la position « OFF », puis débranchez-le.
• Laissez revenir l’appareil à température ambiante avant de continuer à le manipuler.
