Cisco WMP54GS Wireless-G PCI Adapter with SpeedBooster provides a convenient way to connect your desktop computer to a wireless network and access the Internet or share files and printers with other computers on the network.
With its high-gain external antenna, the Adapter offers extended range and improved signal reception, ensuring a stable and reliable wireless connection.
The Adapter is compatible with both 802.11g and 802.11b wireless standards, allowing you to connect to a wide range of wireless networks. It supports various security protocols, including WEP, WPA, and WPA2, to protect your wireless connection from unauthorized access.

Install the Adapter’s Software
IMPORTANT: Do not install the Adapter into your PC until instructed to do so or the setup will not work.

Insert the Setup Wizard CD-
ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
The Setup Wizard should run automatically, and the
Welcome screen should appear. If it does not, click the
Start button and choose Run.
In the field that appears, enter
D:\setup.exe (if “D” is the letter of your CD-ROM drive).

To install the Adapter, click
Install on the Welcome screen.

Read the License Agreement, and click Next to continue the installation. If you click Cancel, you will end the installation.

The Wireless Mode screen will appear. Click the Infrastructure
Mode radio button if you want to connect to a wireless router or access point. Click the Ad-
Hoc Mode radio button if you want to connect to another wireless device directly without using a wireless router or access point.

In the SSID field, enter the name used for your wireless network. The default setting is linksys (all lowercase).
Then click Next.

If you chose Infrastructure
Mode, go to Step F now.
If you chose Ad-Hoc Mode, select the operating channel that is used in your network from the Channel drop-down menu.
Select the Network Mode from the drop-down menu. Keep the default setting, Mixed
Mode, if you have Wireless-G and Wireless-B devices in your network. Select G-Only Mode if you have only Wireless-G devices in your network.
Then click Next.

If your network has the wireless security disabled, keep the default, Disabled, and proceed to Step J.

If your network has WEP encryption enabled, then select the level of WEP encryption, 64-bit or 128-bit.
Enter a Passphrase, and the
WEP key will be automatically generated.

If you want to manually enter the WEP key, leave the
Passphrase field blank and enter the WEP key in the WEP
Key field.
Then click Next.

If your network uses WPA
Personal, select TKIP or AES
Encryption and enter a
Passphrase of 8-63 characters.
Click Next.

If your network uses WPA2
Personal, enter a Passphrase of 8-63 characters. Click Next.

The Setup Wizard will ask you to review your settings before it starts to copy files. Click Next to save these settings, or click
Back to change any settings.

For Windows 2000 users, a screen stating that a digital signature was not found may appear. This software has been tested and found to work properly with Windows 2000.
Click Yes to continue the installation.

After the files have been successfully copied, the
Congratulations screen will appear. Click Exit.

Install the Adapter

Power off your desktop PC.

Open your PC case, and locate an available PCI slot on the motherboard. Check with your computer manufacturer for instructions.

Slide the Adapter into the PCI slot. Make sure that all of its pins are touching the slot’s contacts. You may have to apply a bit of pressure to slide the Adapter all the way in.

After the Adapter is set firmly in place, secure its fastening tab to your PC’s chassis with a mounting screw. Then close your PC case.

Attach the external antenna to the Adapter’s antenna port and position it straight up.

Power on your desktop PC.

Click Yes.

After the Adapter is installed, the
Wireless Network Monitor icon will appear in the system tray at the bottom righthand corner of your screen.
NOTE: Double-click the icon if you want to check the link information, search for available wireless networks, or make additional configuration changes.
Congratulations! The installation of the Wireless-G PCI Adapter with
SpeedBooster is complete.
