SAFETY MESSAGE TO INSTALLERS
People’s lives depend on your safe installation of our products. It is important to read, understand and follow all instructions shipped with the products. In addition, listed below are some other important safety instructions and precautions you should follow:
• To properly install this light: you must have a good understanding of automotive electrical procedures and systems, along with proficiency in the installation and use of safety warning equipment.
• DO NOT install equipment or route wiring or cord in the deployment path of an air bag.
• When drilling into a vehicle structure, be sure that both sides of the surface are clear of anything that could be damaged.
• Locate light control so the VEHICLE and CONTROL can be operated safely under all driving conditions.
• Do not attempt to activate or deactivate light control while driving in a hazardous situation.
• You should frequently inspect the light to ensure that it is operating properly and that it is securely attached to the vehicle.
• File these instructions in a safe place and refer to them when maintaining and/or reinstalling the product.
Failure to follow all safety precautions and instructions may result in property damage, serious injury, or death to you or others.
I. GENERAL.
The Federal Signal Model 3600 Series is an economical LED light which is designed for recessed mounting, rear door mounting, or surface mounting. It must work with Federal Signal Flashers and must be fused at 1 amp for reverse polarity protection. The 3600 Series light incorporates six LED’s.
II. UNPACKING.
After unpacking the light and the mounting kit, inspect it for damage that may have occurred in transit. If the unit has been damaged, do not attempt to install or operate it. File a claim immediately with the carrier, stating the extent of damage. Carefully check all envelopes, shipping labels, and tags before removing or destroying them.
Ensure that the parts listed in the appropriate KIT CONTENTS LIST are included in the package.

These lights are intended for secondary warning only. They are not intended for use as a primary warning system.
III. INSTALLATION.
When installing equipment inside air bag equipped vehicles, the installer MUST ensure that the equipment is installed ONLY in areas recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
Failure to observe this warning will reduce the effectiveness of the air bag, damage the air bag, or potentially damage or dislodge the equipment, causing serious injury or death to you or others.
NOTE
For maximum coverage and effectiveness, the light assembly must be mounted in a horizontal orientation.
Installation of the light assembly requires a flat mounting surface and clearance behind the mounting surface for wire harness connection.
To install the light, proceed as follows:
Before drilling holes in ANY part of a vehicle, be sure that both sides of the mounting surface are clear of parts that could be damaged; such as brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wiring or other vital parts.
A. Recessed Mount. (See figure 1.)
1. Using the template supplied in the mounting kit, scribe an outline around the oval template.
2. Remove the material inside the scribed oval’s outline.
All drilled holes should be free of burrs and sharp edges. All wire routing holes should be grommeted and/or sealed to avoid wire and/or vehicle damage.
3. Insert the rubber grommet inside the cut oval.
4. Complete the electrical connections.
5. Snap in the 3600 Series light head into the grommet.

B. Surface Mount/Surface Mount Side Mirror. (See figure 2.)
1. Using the bezel as a template, scribe the four mounting hole locations and a wire routing hole location on the mounting surface.
2. Drill four 9/64” mounting holes and a 13/64” wire routing hole at the previously scribed locations.
All drilled holes should be free of burrs and sharp edges. All wire routing holes should be grommeted and/or sealed to avoid wire and/or vehicle damage.
3. Insert the grommet into the wire routing hole.
4. Complete the electrical connections.
5. Align the bezel over the previously drilled holes and secure with the provided screws.
6. Snap in the 3600 series light head into the bezel.
C. Rear Door Mount. (See figure 3.)
1. Using the top of the angled bracket as a template, scribe the three mounting hole locations and a wire routing hole location on the desired mounting surface.
2. Drill three appropriate mounting holes and an appropriate wire routing hole at the previously scribed locations.
3. See figure 3. Place the four screws through the front of the bezel so that they are aligned with the standoffs located in the back plate and secure.
4. Complete the electrical connections.
5. Align the bracket with the drilled holes and secure with the provided screws.
6. Push the 3600 light into the bezel.
D. Cast Surface Mount. (See figure 4.)
1. Using the aluminum bezel as a template, scribe the two mounting hole locations and a wire routing hole location on the mounting surface.
2. Drill two 5/32” mounting holes and a wire routing hole (size and location of the wire routing hole should be according to the location of the wire harness) in the previously scribed locations.
All drilled holes should be free of burrs and sharp edges. All wire routing holes should be grommeted and/or sealed to avoid wire and/or vehicle damage

3. Place the 3600 light into the bezel.
4. Position the self-adhesive side of the inner gasket onto the retainer.
5. Carefully place the gasket/retainer assembly over the 3600 series light.
Position the assembly inside the aluminum bezel, while aligning the retainer mounting screw hole locations.
6. Secure the gasket/retainer assembly to the aluminum bezel with the supplied #6-32 screws.
7. Align the bezel and mounting gasket over the previously drilled holes and secure with the supplied #8 pan head screws.
IV. ELECTRICAL.
The unit is designed to operate on a 12.8VDC system and designed to work with
Federal Signal flashers. Two wires exit the unit. They are as follows: red (positive) and black (negative). Using user-supplied connectors and 18AWG minimum wire, refer to the particular flasher instructions for proper wiring.
The positive red wire must be appropriately fused at 1 amp. This unit is not reversed polarity protected unless properly fused. Federal
Signal is not responsible for any improper wiring.
This unit is designed for flashing applications (40% duty cycle) only.
This unit is not designed to operate in constant mode.
V. MAINTENANCE.
1. General.
Crazing (cracking) of lenses will cause reduced effectiveness of the light. Do not use cleaning agents (which will cause crazing) such as strong detergents, solvents, or petroleum products. If crazing of lenses does occur, reliability of light for emergency signaling purposes may be reduced until lenses are replaced.
Ordinary cleaning of the plastic lenses can be accomplished by using mild soap and a soft rag. Should fine scratches or a haze appear on a lens, they can ordinarily be removed with a mild, high quality, automotive rubbing compound.
2. Service.
The Federal factory will provide technical assistance with any problems that cannot be handled locally.
Any units returned to Federal Signal for service, inspection, or repair must be accompanied by a Return Material Authorization. This R.M.A. can be obtained from a local Distributor or Manufacturer’s Representative.

• Also, situations may occur which obstruct your warning signal when natural or man-made objects are between your vehicle and others, such as: raising your hood or trunk lid. If these situations occur, be especially careful.
• At the start of your shift, you should ensure that the light is securely attached and operating properly.
Failure to follow these safety precautions may result in property damage, serious injury, or death to you, to passengers, or to others.

La vida de muchas personas depende de una buena instalación de nuestros productos. Es importante que lea, entienda y siga todas las instrucciones incluidas con los productos. Asimismo, a continuación señalamos algunas precauciones y normas de seguridad importantes que deberá seguir al realizar la instalación.
• Para instalar debidamente este juego de luces; usted deberá estar familiarizado con procedimientos y sistemas eléctrico-automotrices, y contar con experiencia en la instalación y uso de equipos de protección y advertencia.
• NO instale el equipo o enrute cables o alambres en la trayectoria de despliegue de la bolsa de aire.
• Al perforar el armazón de un vehículo, revise ambos lados de la superficie a fin de asegurarse de que no haya ningún objeto que pudiera dañarse.
• Ubique el control de las luces de modo que pueda manejar sin peligro tanto el VEHICULO como el CONTROL de las luces, en cualquier situación de manejo.
• No intente activar o desactivar el control de las luces mientras se encuentre manejando en situaciones peligrosas.
• Deberá inspeccionar las luces de forma habitual para garantizar que funcionen correctamente y se encuentren debidamente sujetas al vehículo.
• Archive estas instrucciones en un lugar seguro y consúltelas cada vez que dé mantenimiento o vuelva a instalar el producto.
De no tomar estas precauciones ni seguir estas instrucciones pueden ocasionarse daños materiales, lesiones graves o ponerse en peligro su vida y la de los demás.
I. GENERAL.
El Modelo Serie 3600 de Federal Signal es una luz LED económica, diseñada para montaje empotrado, montaje en la puerta posterior o montaje en superficie. Debe operar con los destelladores Federal Signal y estar protegida por fusible a 1 amperio para protección por polaridad inversa. La luz Serie 3600 incorpora seis LED.
II. DESEMPAQUE.
Después de desempacar la luz y el juego de montaje, inspeccione si han ocurrido daños durante el envío. Si la unidad ha sufrido daños, no intente instalarla o ponerla en funcionamiento; entable una reclamación inmediatamente con el transportista, e indique la importancia de estos. Verifique cuidadosamente todos los sobres, etiquetas de envío y marbetes antes de removerlos o destruirlos. Asegúrese de que el paquete contenga las partes enumeradas en la LISTA DEL CONTENIDO DEL JUEGO correcta.

Estas luces han sido diseñadas únicamente para advertencia secundaria.

III. INSTALACION.
Durante la instalación de equipo dentro de vehículos equipados con bolsas de aire, el instalador DEBE asegurarse de instalar el equipo
UNICAMENTE en áreas recomendadas por el fabricante del vehículo.
El no tomar estas precauciones reducirá la eficacia de la bolsa de aire o posiblemente dañará o desprenderá el equipo, causando lesiones graves o la muerte a usted u otros.
AVISO
Para obtener una cobertura y eficacia máximas, el conjunto de luces debe montarse en posición horizontal.
La instalación del conjunto de luces requiere una superficie de montaje plana y espacio libre detrás de la superficie de montaje para la conexión del cable preformado.
Para instalar la luz, proceda de la siguiente manera:
Antes de perforar orificios en CUALQUIER parte de un vehículo, revise ambos lados de la superficie de montaje a fin de asegurarse de que no haya ningún objeto que pudiera dañarse, tal como líneas de freno, líneas de combustible, cableado eléctrico u otras partes importantes.
A. Montaje empotrado. (Véase la figura 1.)
1. Utilizando la plantilla incluida en el juego de montaje, trace una línea alrededor de la plantilla ovalada.

B.
Montaje en Superficie/Espejo Lateral de Montaje en Superficie (Véase la figura 2.)
1. Utilizando un bisel en calidad de plantilla, marque sobre la superficie de montaje las posiciones de los cuatro orificios de montaje y un orificio de enrutamiento del cable.
2. Perfore cuatro orificios de montaje de 0.357 cm y un orificio de enrutamiento del cable de 0.515 cm en las posiciones marcadas previamente.
Elimine todas las protuberancias y bordes afilados de los orificios. Todos los orificios de enrutamiento del cable deben estar protegidos por un ojal y/o un sello a fin de evitar daños al cable y/o al vehículo.

Inserte el ojal en el orificio de enrutamiento del cable.
Finalice las conexiones eléctricas.
5. Alinee el bisel sobre los orificios previamente taladrados y asegúrelo con los tornillos suministrados.
6. Enganche el cabezal de luces Serie 3600 en el bisel.
C. Montaje en la puerta posterior. (Véase la figura 3.)
1. Utilizando la parte superior del sujetador angular en calidad de plantilla, marque sobre la superficie de montaje deseada las posiciones de los tres orificios de montaje y un orificio de enrutamiento del cable.
2. Perfore tres orificios de montaje adecuados y un orificio de enrutamiento del cable adecuado en las posiciones marcadas previamente.
3. Véase la figura 3. Coloque los cuatro tornillos a través de la parte frontal del bisel de manera que queden alineados con los separadores ubicados en la placa posterior y asegúrelos.
4. Finalice las conexiones eléctricas.
5. Alinee el sujetador con los orificios taladrados y asegúrelo con los tornillos suministrados.
6. Presione la luz Serie 3600 en el bisel.
D.
Montaje en Superficie Moldeada. (Véase la figura 4.)
1. Utilizando un bisel de aluminio en calidad de plantilla, marque sobre la superficie de montaje las posiciones de los dos orificios de montaje y un orificio de enrutamiento del cable.
2. Perfore dos orificios de montaje de 0.396 cm y un orificio de enrutamiento del cable (el tamaño y la ubicación del orificio de enrutamiento del cable deben ser de acuerdo a la ubicación del cable preformado) en las ubicaciones previamente marcadas.

Elimine todas las protuberancias y bordes afilados de los orificios. Todos los orificios de enrutamiento del cable deben estar protegidos por un ojal y/o un sello a fin de evitar daños al cable y/o al vehículo.

Coloque la luz Serie 3600 en el bisel.
Coloque el lado autoadhesivo de la empaquetadura interior en el retenedor.
5. Con cuidado coloque el conjunto de empaquetadura/retenedor sobre la luz Serie 3600. Coloque el conjunto dentro del bisel de aluminio, a la vez que alinea las ubicaciones de los orificios de los tornillos de montaje del retenedor.
6. Asegure el conjunto de empaquetadura/retenedor en el bisel de aluminio con los tornillos #6-32 suministrados.
7. Alinee el bisel y la empaquetadura de montaje sobre los orificios previamente taladrados y asegúrelos con los tornillos troncocónicos #8 suministrados.
IV. ESPECIFICACIONES ELECTRICAS.
La unidad está diseñada para funcionar en un sistema de 12.8 VCC y operar con destelladores Federal Signal. Dos cables sobresalen de la unidad. Estos son: rojo (positivo) y negro
(negativo). Utilizando los conectores suministrados por el usuario y un cable calibre 18 AWG como mínimo, consulte las instrucciones del destellador específico sobre el cableado apropiado.
El cable rojo positivo deberá estar adecuadamente protegido por fusible a
1 amperio. Esta unidad no cuenta con protección por polaridad inversa a menos que esté debidamente protegida por fusible. Federal Signal no será responsable por cableados incorrectos.
Esta unidad está diseñada únicamente para aplicaciones con destellos
(ciclo de servicio de 40%). Esta unidad no está diseñada para funcionamiento en modo constante.
V. MANTEMIENTO.
1.
General.
La cuarteadura (el agrietamiento) de las lentes reducirá la eficacia del juego de luces. No utilice agentes limpiadores (esto ocasionará cuarteaduras) tales como detergentes fuertes, solventes, o productos derivados del petróleo. Si las lentes se cuartean, el funcionamiento confiable de las luces, con propósitos de señalamiento en caso de emergencia, se verá afectado hasta que éstas no sean reemplazadas.
La lente de plástico, normalmente se puede limpiar con un jabón suave y un trapo suave. Si aparecen rayas finas o bruma en una lente, éstas normalmente se pueden despejar con compuesto suave de frotamiento automotriz de alta calidad.

2.
Servicio.
La instalación de Federal proporcionará asistencia técnica cuando no se puedan resolver problemas a nivel local.
Todas las unidades devueltas a Federal Signal para servicio, inspección o reparación deberán estar acompañadas de una Autorización de Devolución de Materiales.
Podrá obtener esta autorización de su Distribuidor local o Representante del Fabricante.
En este momento, deberá ofrecer una explicación breve del tipo de servicio solicitado o de la naturaleza del malfuncionamiento.
