Operating Instructions

n

Remote Control

— Each of the pair of remote controls is a miniature radio transmitter with a typical range of up to 100 feet. Obstructions, radio interference, cellular transmissions or a weak remote control battery may reduce the range or interrupt transmission. (If the system does not immediately respond, release and press the button again. This works better than holding the button down.) The second remote can be used by a second driver, or kept as a spare. (Note: AviGlo

remote controls are not compatible with the Tornado

2

.) n

To Arm The System

— The alarm can be programmed for active or passive arming. Active arming means the alarm can only be armed by the remote control. Passive arming means the alarm will automatically arm itself. See the "Programming Table for Alarm Features" on page 8.

n Ac tive Arm ing. Press remote button #1 once. The siren will chirp twice, the parking lights will flash twice, the doors will lock, the LED will flash slowly and the starter will be disabled.* n Pas sive Arm ing. Turn the ignition key off, exit the vehicle and close the doors. When the interior lights turn off, the LED will flash rapidly for 30 seconds to indicate the system is passive arming. The LED will then flash slowly to indicate the system is armed and the starter is disabled.* (At any time during passive arming, you may actively arm the alarm.) n

To Disarm the System

— Press remote button #1 for 1-2 seconds.

The siren will chirp once, the parking lights will flash once, the doors will unlock, the interior lights will turn on (if the optional interior light illunination relay was installed), the LED will turn off and the starter will be enabled.* n

To Silently Arm or Disarm the System

— Press remote buttons

#1 and #2 at the same time.

n

Interior Light Illumination Capability

— When the alarm system is remotely disarmed, the vehicle's interior light(s) will turn on for 30 seconds or until the ignition key is turned on (requires an optional relay).

n

To Activate an Accessory

— Press remote button #2 for 1-2 seconds to activate an optional accessory such as trunk release, remote engine starter or a remote control garage door opener.

n

Valet Switch

— The valet switch is a small hidden toggle switch that allows you to program many features of the alarm system and prevent passive arming. In the event of a lost or stolen remote control, you can also use this switch to bypass (shut off) the alarm system.

BE SURE TO ASK YOUR DEALER TO SHOW YOU WHERE THE VALET

SWITCH IS LO CATED

If passive arming is turned on, you should put your system in Valet Mode when your car is being serviced by mechanics, car wash personnel or driven by valet attendants. While in Valet Mode, all alarm functions are bypassed to prevent undesired or accidental arming.

n To Turn on Valet Mode

1. Turn your ignition key to the "ON" position or start the vehicle.

2. Flick the valet switch to the "ON" position.

3. The LED will turn on solid red to indicate the alarm is in Valet

Mode.

n To Turn off Valet Mode

1. Turn your ignition key to the "ON" position or start the vehicle.

2. Flick the valet switch to the "OFF" position,

3. The LED will turn off to indicate the alarm is no longer in Valet

Mode.

* If the optional starter disable was installed.

n

User Programmable Passive Door Locking

— The system will not automatically lock the doors when the alarm passively arms to prevent the keys and remote from accidentally being locked in the vehicle. If you prefer, you can easily program the alarm to automatically lock the doors every time the alarm passively arms. See the

“Programming Table for Alarm Features” on page 8.

n

To Activate Remote Panic

— Press and hold button #1 for 3-4 seconds. The siren will sound continually and the parking lights will flash on and off. If the ignition key is off, the doors will unlock. If the ignition key is on, the doors will lock. To deactivate, press button #1 once (may require additional relays).

n

LED Status Indicator

— The LED on your vehicle’s dashboard or center console will inform you of the system status.

n

(Previous Intrusion Alert). When you enter the vehicle and turn on the ignition, the LED will flash in cycles to specifically identify which zone has triggered the alarm.

n

Automatic Malfunction Override

— In the event of a faulty sensor or alarm input trigger zone, the alarm, when remotely armed, will alert you by a series of chirps and light flashes.

n

Instant Remote Control Code Deletion

— In the event of a lost or stolen remote control, all remote controls can be erased from memory to prevent unauthorized alarm operation. See the "Programming Table for Remote Controls" on page 9.

n

Remote Control Code Learning

— The alarm can be programmed to accept as many as four separate remote controls. See the

"Programming Table for Remote Controls" on page 9.

n

Alarm State Memory

— If your car’s battery is disconnected and later reconnected, the system will automatically return to its last state before power was removed, whether it was armed, disarmed or in the valet mode. So if a mechanic disconnects the battery while the alarm is disarmed or in the valet mode, he won’t trigger the alarm when he reconnects the battery. Yet if a thief removes power while the alarm is armed, and reconnects it, the alarm will instantly sound, the parking lights will flash and the starter will be disabled.* n

How to Interpret the Chirps and Parking Light Flashes

When you press the remote control buttons, the system will respond with chirps (unless you have the chirp muting feature turned on or the system is in

Valet Mode) and flashes of the parking lights to indicate the system status.

An explanation of these chirp/flash acknowledgments is as follows:
