Avoid the number one cause of fiber optic network failure
In fiber optic networks, the number one cause of network failure
is not cable breakage, it's actually dirty or damaged connectors.
In a fiber optic coupling, connectors are in physical contact with
each other. Picture a small rock placed between two pieces of
glass and then pressed together. This is similar to what a
particle of dust is in relation to the glass fiber. Note that a
typical fiber's glass core is 1/10 to 1/2 the diameter of a human
hair so a little dust can go a long way towards obstructing an
optical signal. At right are images of common problems found
on connectors installed in the field.

Note: One of the dust particles is larger than the fiber in the center
of the connector. This dust, if it covered the fiber, would completely
block the light from passing through.
Connectors need to be cleaned before any connection is made.
If the cable is disconnected, it needs to be cleaned again. This is
a simple process especially with the Senko SMART Cleaners.
Just insert the cleaner into the port and then use the same
cleaner on the cable connector.

Working with LC connectors often means technicians are faced with a high density of the connectors, making it difficult to get in
between to service and clean them. Using Senko's Fiber Optic Cleaner specifically made to be used with LC connectors is the perfect
solution with its thin, extendable shaft that can easily get into hard to reach areas. Cleaner gets more than 750 cleanings per unit.

Fiber Optic Cleaner for MPO Connectors
MPO has become a popular interface in data centers due to its high density of connections in a very small form factor. This makes
it extra important to keep your MPO cables and ports clean for the best performance of your network. This easy to use cleaner will
remove dirt, oil and debris from MPO connectors and ports. Its extended shaft makes it easy to get into hard to reach places without
having to un-mate nearby connectors. The cleaner is disposable and gets over 600 cleanings per unit.

Fiber Optic Consumables - Commonly Used Fiber Optic Cleaning Components
Cleaning fiber optic connections is crucial for proper optical transmission. Compressed air is great for cleaning couplers and
connector ends. Kimwipes are lint free tissues, commonly used for cleaning glass surfaces.

Fiber Optic Pulling Eye for Duplex Cable Assemblies
A pulling eye is used to protect the terminated end of fiber cable assemblies when pulling through walls or ceilings. 16" long x 0.75"
(40.6 x 1.9 cm) diameter plastic tube fits most cables with two connectors.

Keep fiber cables clean to maintain performance
It is critically important for fiber optic connectors to be free of dust and dirt to maintain optimum performance. A simple and
effective way to do this is to clean the ends of your fiber optic cables often when they are disconnected, as illustrated.
