Rinnai Slimfire Console Conversion Kit Instructions;

The Rinnai Slimfire appliance is only approved for a console style installation when correctly fitted within a

Rinnai Console Conversion Kit.

Rinnai Slimfire appliance & Console kit shall be installed in accordance with:

• Manufacturers installation Instructions

• Current AS/NZS 3000, AS 3500 & AS5601 as applicable

• Local Regulations & Municipal building codes

The Rinnai Console Conversion Kit contains the following components.

Slimfire Console box (Order either

Metallic Black or stainless steel finish)

Plinth kit (Order either Metallic Black or Stainless Steel)

Rear securing bracket

REGULATIONS

1 x Top support bracket

2 x Side support brackets

The Rinnai Slimfire appliance is only approved for a console style installation when correctly fitted within a

Rinnai Console Conversion Kit.

Rinnai Slimfire appliance & Console kit shall be installed in accordance with:

• Manufacturers installation Instructions

• Current AS/NZS 3000, AS 3500 & AS5601 as applicable

• Local Regulations & Municipal building codes

OPTIONS

Rinnai Slimfire Console Conversion kit will allow the inbuilt Rinnai Slimfire to be installed as a console style heater in the following configurations;

• Against a sound masonry chimney, with the opening sealed except for allowing the ’10 x2’ flue spigot from the heater to pass through.

• Against a stud wall , utilizing a ’10 x 2’ twin skin in wall flue system.

ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS

(Note: Additional components are not included as part of the Slimfire Console conversion kit)

Additional components required for installation that are to be supplied by the installer may include the following;

• ’10 x 2’ twin skin flue system

• AGA Approved flue cowl

• Associated gas piping

• Roof flashing

• Pop rivets 6 x 1/8”

METHOD

Stud Wall Installation:

Refer to Slimfire heater installation instructions for installation details.

1. Select appropriate location for Slimfire.

2. Ensure clearance from curtains, furniture etc.

3. Check installation of ’10 x 2’ flue system is possible within stud wall selected.

4. Check for obstructions within roof space where flue is proposed to be run.

5. Check flue can be terminated in accordance with AS5601.

6. Install ’10 x 2’ flue system, ensuring the centre of the flue elbow terminates 500mm above the floor (See diagram below)

7. Remove front cover of Rinnai Slimfire. (3 screws across bottom edge) as shown below.

8. Fit top supporting bracket using 4 x 1/8” pop rivets as shown below.

9. Remove two screws from the left and right hand side panels of the Slimfire heater as shown below.

10. Fit the side support brackets, re-using the 2 x self tapping screws.

11. Centre & install the rear securing bracket 690mm above the floor where the heater is proposed to be located as shown below.

12. Mount the Plinth kit in the desired location of the heater with the rails located at 500mm Centres as shown below.

13. Install Rinnai Slimfire heater and connect to ’10 x 2’skin skin flue system, ensuring adequate engagement of flue spigot at the rear of the Slimfire into the ’10 x 2’ twin skin flue elbow.

IMPORTANT: - Ensure the Slimfire heater flue spigot is adequately engauged within the twin skin flue elbow.

14. Connect the gas pipe and check for gas escapes.

15. Lower the Console box over the top of the Slimfire heater, ensuring the rear edge of the console box engages over the edge of the securing bracket on the rear wall.

16. Engage the front edge of the console box over front flange on Slimfire heater as shown below.

17. Drill 1/8” hole 150mm above floor level in either side of lower front edge of console box, through to the lower front edge of flange on Slimfire heater as shown below. Secure Console box to the heater using pop rivet

On each lower side edge, drill 1/8” hole and fasten with rivet.

18. Complete installation & commissioning as per installation instructions supplied with Rinnai Slimfire heater.

19. Attach original front to Slimfire flame fire.

20. Ensure dressguard warning label is removed before switching the appliance on.

21. Install required lengths of flue system.

22. Install 100mm AGA Approved Gas cowl, ensuring clearance requirements from roof to cowl are met.

INSTALLATION AGAINST A SOUND MASONRY CHIMNEY

NOTE: Additional items required (not included in Slimfire console kit) ’10 x 2’ spigot extension for rear of heater. A 10 x 2 flue spigot extension is required and is to be supplied by the installer.

METHOD:

1. Check chimney is in a sound condition and clear of debris etc. If required, have the chimney swept prior to installation.

2. Install gas pipe as required in accordance with AS5601 and the installation instructions for the Slimfire heater.

3. Seal entire front opening of chimney with a non combustible material, such as cement sheet or equivalent.

4. Cut rectangular hole in fire-proof material to suit the location of the rear ’10 x 2’ flue spigot extension on the rear of the Slimfire heater.

5. Fit extension spigot to rear of Slimfire.

6. Measure clearance from front to rear of fireplace to ensure there will be a minimum 75mm clearance between the end of the spigot extension and the rear wall of the fireplace when the heater is in the installed position.

7. If required, trim the end of the spigot extension with tins snips to obtain the required 75mm minimum clearance. Cut edge must ensure no debris can enter and block flue spigot.

8. Install Slimfire heater as per directions above, items 5 to 21 above.

9. Install 100mm AGA Approved gas cowl and chimney plate to top of chimney.
