QUICK BLUETOOTH CONNECTION GUIDE
0Biuetooth
BEFORE YOU START
Your Bluetooth device (cellphone, MP3 player, computer, etc.) must support the A2DP Bluetooth profile
(commonly known as stereo audio profile) to work with the iHome iBT4.
Many of the latest mobile phones and PCs with built-in Bluetooth functionality will support this profile. For
accurate information about your product, please refer to your Bluetooth device's user manual for details on the
Bluetooth profiles it supports and on how to set the device's Bluetooth pairing/searching/setup mode.
ABOUT PAIRING
Pairing is the term used when wirelessly connecting two Bluetooth devices for the first time.
This allows the devices to "see" each other and creates a unique lasting connection between the specific devices.
PAIRING & LINKING YOUR BLUETOOTH DEVICE WITH THE iBT4
1) Make sure your Bluetooth device is fully charged. Turn it on.
2) Turn on Bluetooth functionality on your Bluetooth device. Typically, Bluetooth
controls are found on the device's tools or settings menu (see your user manual).
Turn on Bluetooth connectivity and make your device "discoverable".
3) Turn the Power/Mode Dial on the unit right to turn the unit on (pairing is available
2
in Bluetooth OR radio position).
4) Press and hold the Pairing/Play Pause Button. "PAIR" will flash in the display
indicating pairing attempt. "iHome iBT4" should appear on your device's menu. If
"Not Connected" or similar message appears, select "iHome iBT4" on the device
to connect it. If your device asks for a password, enter 1234 or 0000 on the
keyboard of your device. If no device is paired within 2 minutes, a tone will sound
and the unit will revert to its previous mode. To retry pairing, turn the Power/Mode
4
Dial to the OFF position (left) then follow steps 2 - 4 again.
5) Once paired with a device, the PAIR indicator on the display will stop flashing then
disappear and the Bluetooth icon will remain .There should be an indication on
your device that pairing is complete. On some devices, you must then select "Use
as Audio Device" or similar on the device's Bluetooth menu. Once paired, your
device should link to the iBT4 whenever within range.
6) Pairing remains intact when the iBT4 and/or the Bluetooth device is powered off or is taken out of link range
(30 feet). The iBT4 supports auto-linking and will automatically re-establish an active connection when your
Bluetooth device returns within range.
7) The next time the iBT4 is powered on it will automatically try to re-establish a link with the most recently linked
Bluetooth device. If your device does not support auto-linking OR was not the last linked to the iBT4, you
must re-link manually by selecting iBT4 from the Bluetooth device's menu on your Bluetooth device.
8) When you power ON the speaker, it will automatically link with the previously paired Bluetooth device as long
as that device is still within range (approx. 30 feet). So, to pair with a different device you must turn off the
Bluetooth capability of the already paired device. The iBT4 can auto-link to up to 3 Bluetooth devices.
