Edward’s evil stepmother, Narissa, interferes and Giselle ends up in the real world of New York City. Soon after, Edward and Giselle’s chipmunk pal, Pip, follow her to New York in an attempt to rescue her. In New York, Giselle happens upon a divorced divorce attorney named Robert and his daughter, Morgan. Giselle’s presence inadvertently throws Robert and Morgan’s world into chaos. Giselle does her best to help Robert and get back to her prince and Andalasia. Can a storybook romance survive in the real world? Find out as you adventure through Andalasia and New York City and play as Giselle, Prince Edward and Pip! You can sing songs, interact with other people and animals, solve puzzles and more. Collect items throughout your adventures to create new dresses. Each new dress Giselle creates allows her to sing a new song when she wears it! Songs have different magical effects throughout the game. You can also use collected items to upgrade your dresses, awarding Giselle more Health and Energy. Navigating Giselle can leap, climb and swing her way through the game. Cartwheel—Press the B Button to cartwheel sideways. Giselle can move quite a distance when she does a cartwheel, so be careful where you are and what you are standing near. Wall Climb—Giselle can climb up vine-covered walls easily using the +Control Pad ÈÍ. She can also jump from one wall and grab on to another using the +Control Pad ÁË. Ledges—Giselle can edge her way across a narrow ledge using the +Control Pad ÁË. Hand-Over-Hand—Giselle can traverse ropes and power lines using a handover-hand style. Use the +Control Pad ÁË to control her progress. Parallel Bars—Use parallel bars to swing from one location to the next. Use the stylus to help Giselle swing or fly through the air like a circus performer. Pole Climb—Use the +Control Pad ÈÍ to climb up and down poles. Songs When you find a colorful song stage in either Andalasia or New York, press the X Button or tap the Song icon with your stylus. Special symbols will be displayed on the Touch Screen. Trace the symbols with the stylus to sing a song. If you trace all the symbols correctly, your song will have its full effect on the environment. Blue Dress—The blue dress song allows Giselle to walk on water. Yellow Dress—The yellow dress song is for cleaning. All Giselle’s cleaning will go faster with this song and she can clean objects that normally can’t be cleaned. Song Types Flower Dress—The song sung in the flower dress is a Hi Tempo song. It causes Giselle and the world around her to speed up. 10 Wedding Dress—The wedding dress song puts all nearby characters in a sad mood. Time stops so you can move past obstacles and enemies safely. Pink Dress—The song that goes with the pink dress puts all nearby characters in a cheerful mood. You can also sing this song on the stage to trigger various devices. Purple Dress—The purple dress gives Giselle all of Edward’s abilities so she can battle enemies who cross her path. 11 Making and Enhancing Dresses Use the items Giselle collects to make and enhance dresses. You can also mix items together to create new objects. Go to the Dressmaker menu in Giselle’s room. You can choose Make a Dress or Combine Materials. Make a Dress When you select Make a Dress, you’ll choose the dress you want to create or enhance. The required ingredients will be displayed on the upper screen. If you have all the ingredients you need, you’ll see the mixing barrel. Use the stylus to mix your ingredients in the mixing barrel in the direction the swirling arrow is pointing. Be on your toes, it will change directions when you least expect it. Once the mixing is complete, you’ll see the finished dress and you can wear it in the game. 12 Combine Materials When you select Combine Materials, the Touch Screen displays a list of your ingredients. Select two types of ingredients and the quantity of each. Next you’ll see the mixing barrel. Use the stylus to mix the ingredients in the barrel. Once the mixing is complete, you’ll find out what you’ve created! Animal Helpers In both worlds, Giselle will make new animal friends as she ventures through the game. She can call on these animals to help her at any time. Use the stylus to tap the Animal icon on the Touch Screen or press the Y Button to summon an animal helper. Some animals help Giselle by retrieving or activating objects. Others can distract enemies or lure them away. 13 EDWARD’S WORLD Play as Edward with lots of swordplay action! Defeat enemies to continue your search for the lovely Giselle. Use the stylus to interact with characters and objects. You’ll also use the stylus to control Edward’s sword. Use the tip of the stylus just like the tip of a sword; slide it left, right, up and down and jab as directed by your on-screen interface in Battle mode. Once the battle begins, the Battle icons will be displayed on the Touch Screen. Before time runs out, perform the actions shown by the Battle icons. How well you perform these actions determines the power and accuracy of Edward’s sword blows. Slow Motion Attack Slow-motion attacks can be performed when Edward has enough Energy in normal gameplay. If Edward’s Energy bar is full, press the X Button to initiate a slow-motion attack. Touch one of the Attack icons on the Touch Screen to choose your attack. Edward is invulnerable during slow-motion attacks. Once the Energy bar is empty, the slow-motion attack is over. Battle Mode Touch an enemy with the stylus to enter Battle mode. Edward’s advantage in battles is determined by your success in a Battle mode mini-game. Depending on how well you do in the mini-game, Edward will have a different power in the battle: Higher Attack, Defense, Health or Energy. 14 15 PIP’S WORLD Horseback Riding Sometimes, Edward will need the help of his trusty steed, Destiny. You must direct Edward and Destiny through the path as shown, avoiding hazards along the way. Touch the horse with your stylus to get on his back. Use the stylus on the Touch Screen to control your ride. 16 Touch Destiny Jump Touch Edward Duck Head Draw Circles Clockwise Speed up Draw Circles Counter-Clockwise Slow Down Pip is a chipmunk who is Giselle’s best friend. Play as Pip and avoid hazards to make your way to the finish line. Pip has lots of mini-games and gets to collect materials for Giselle. Pip’s Controls +Control Pad Move A Button Jump/Enter Hamster Ball stylus Tap Jump Hamster Ball Use the +Control Pad to move Pip through a variety of maze-like levels. Find the hamster ball and Pip can go inside. Once inside, Pip’s speed increases. Use the stylus to make Pip jump in his speedy hamster ball. 17 ITEMS Collect items throughout your adventures. Some items can be used to make or upgrade dresses. Others can be combined to make new items. Some items can be used during gameplay with your stylus on the Touch Screen. Other items are used in the Combine Materials screen. Combining Materials Go to the Dressmaker menu in Giselle’s room and select Combine Materials. All your available items will be displayed. Select the ingredients you want to combine and the quantity of each ingredient. 18 Rare Mixtures Some items you’ll find throughout the game are very rare. Combining rare items with each other can create very unique creations that give you an awesome bonus. Try your hand at combining rare items and see what you can create! SAVING THE GAME Your game is automatically saved whenever you reach a save point in your adventures. You can also save your game by moving Giselle to a bed and touching it with the stylus or moving Edward to talk with Nathaniel. Use the stylus to mix the ingredients in the mixing barrel. Once mixing is complete, you’ll have access to your newly created item! 19 CHARACTERS Giselle Giselle is the main character, a beautiful princess-to-be magically transported from the fantasy land of Andalasia to modern-day New York City. She likes to dream about romance, sing songs and make new outfits. 20 Robert Robert is a handsome attorney and single father. Giselle turns his life upside down, but eventually reminds him about the joy of true love. Morgan Morgan is Robert’s six year-old daughter who loves fairy tales about princesses. No wonder she’s crazy about Giselle! Edward Nancy Edward is a gallant, handsome prince. He enjoys riding his horse, Destiny, rescuing maidens and going to fancy dress balls. Nancy is Robert’s girlfriend, a no-nonsense career woman with her own business. Still, true love is her greatest dream. Pip Narissa Pip is a cute chipmunk and Giselle’s best friend. He loves his hamster ball and can race around in it like crazy! Queen Narissa is Prince Edward’s stepmother who can’t stand the sight of Giselle. Because of her doing, Giselle is transported from Andalasia to New York City. 21 Nathaniel Nathaniel is Edward’s sidekick, but the prince doesn’t know Nathaniel is also working for Queen Narissa. He assists Prince Edward while carrying out the queen’s bidding. MULTIPLAYER Up to two players can link together using the DS Wireless capability and trade collectibles. To accept trade offers from friends, look through the offer list to see if there’s an item you want. Make sure you can fulfill your friend’s trade offer by giving them the item they want in exchange.
