It supports HDTV, network connectivity and third party software. A variety of Apps is now available from the Google Play Store. Parts and Control 1. DC in jack – for connecting power cable to power adapter. 2. HDMI port – to connect HDTV via HDMI cable. 3. LAN port – to connect Ethernet network via RJ45 cable. 4. USB port – for connecting with external USB device. 5. Optical port – to connect optical device via optical cable. 6. AV jack – to connect TV/ monitor via AV cable, *this cable is not supplied with your unit. 7. Standby button – Press to go to standby or to Power on. 9.Memory card slot – supports SD card/ SDHC. 10. Status indicator – blue light for Power on, red light for standby mode. 4 Remote Control 1.Standby button – press to go to standby/ Power on 2.Directional buttons – press to move the cursor left/ right/ up/ down 3. Wireless mouse key – press to confirm the selection of mouse 4. Volume button – press to increase or decrease the volume. 5. OK button – press to confirm the selection 6. Wireless Keyboard – press on the text field to use the keyboard 22. Battery door Using the remote control Insert the supplied USB receiver into the USB port in the Zoostorm Play TV Box. This can be found inside the remote control by opening the battery door. When you use the remote control for the first time, press the browser button to enable the function of the remote control. Home button and Web To use the remote control, point the remote control on the display screen and press the buttons. Move the remote control and the mouse cursor moves too, press mouse key to confirm the selection of mouse. When the unit is not operated for 30 seconds, then the wireless mouse will go to standby mode. Press any button on the unit to wake it up again. When the button on the remote control is pressed, the LED indicator will blink in blue. The recommended effective distance for the remote control operation is approx. 0 - 5 meters maximum. Batteries replacement When the batteries become weak, the operating distance is greatly reduced and you will need to replace them. 1. Open the battery door at the bottom of the unit. 2. Take out the two “AAA” size batteries. 3. Insert two new “AAA” size batteries in the correct orientation. Note: you can also use the Zoostorm Play with a wireless mouse and keyboard (not included) for faster operation and better control. 6 Power supply Using the AC adapter The supplied 5V/2A adapter operates on AC 100-240V, 50/60HZ. Connect the AC adapter to DC-in jack, and then plug the AC adapter into AC outlet. *While the AC adapter is connected and the unit is on standby, power will still be consumed. Connections Connecting to HDTV using HDMI cable (Recommended) 1. Use the HDMI cable to connect the TV box to the HDTV. 2. Use the AC adapter to connect a suitable wall outlet. 3. Turn on your HDTV and then power on the TV box. Connecting to a TV using AV cable *AV cable is not supplied with your unit. 1. Use the AV cable to connect the unit to TV/Monitor. 2. Use the AC adapter to connect a suitable wall outlet. 3. Turn on your TV and then power on the TV box. Connecting to the internet Wi-Fi connection: If the unit detects Wi-Fi signal, location is in Settings > Wireless and networks > Wi-Fi to set (See page 17). LAN connection: Connect RJ45 cable, in Settings > Wireless and networks > More > Ethernet to set (See page 17). Transferring Contents From USB Device The TV box supports USB Mass Storage Device function. To view contents (video, audio, photo etc.) on the TV box, insert the USB device. Upon successful connection to TV box, go to [File Explorer], click to open. From memory card This unit supports SD card up to 32 GB To insert a Memory card Insert the card correctly with its label facing down until it clicks into the place. You may damage the card and the TV box if SD card is not inserted correctly. 7 To remove the SD card, push the card again until it clicks. When a SD card is inserted in or ejected from the TV box, it may take few seconds for the TV box to update the content. Please avoid inserting or ejecting SD card when other operations are running as this may cause the TV Box to stop responding. Do not remove the card if the content inside the card is being played. This will halt the operation of the TV box and cause the TV box to restart. Home screen When the TV box is turned on, it will enter into the Home screen. Press anytime to return to the Home screen. Use the Directional buttons on the remote control to press any icon to get started. Press Apps to show the Main menu. Customizing Home screen Adding icons on home screen You can add shortcuts or widgets to home screen. Press App Drawer Widgets to workplace, press the desired options to add to home screen. Removing icons on home screen Long press on the icon and drag it into the bin. Use the directional buttons to press the desired options to remove from the home screen. Setting wallpaper for home screen Press Settings > Displays > Wallpaper, press the desired picture as wallpaper. 8 Main menu All application icons are in the App draw. On home screen, press the four boxes at the top right to open the App draw. Press an icon on the screen to open the desired application. Press Go to Settings > Apps > Click on App to Uninstall. to return to home screen. Buttons Use the Directional buttons and press OK/ Enter button to select an item. Select an icon to open an application. Press the Return button (Exit or ESC button) on the Remote control to return to previous screen. Press button anytime to return to Home screen. Scrolling Use the Directional-up/ down button to scroll file list. On webpage, use the directional buttons to scroll around the page be careful so as not to click the link. 9 Onscreen keyboard Use the onscreen keyboard to enter text, such as web addresses. Press on the text field to bring up the keyboard. Uppercase key Backspace key Numeric/ punctuation/ symbol key Web browser View a webpage From Home screen or Main menu, press Browser icon to open web browser. On address bar, type the web address and click the enter key on screen. Press the link on the webpage to open a new webpage. Use the Directional buttons to scroll around the webpage. To return to the previous page, press the Exit or ESC button. Notice: Browser start page always defaults to Google home page. Add bookmark Press to add the current visited webpage as bookmark. Bookmarks List Press to show bookmarks list, press a bookmark to open the webpage. Touch and hold the bookmark to display the option menu for bookmark. History List You can view your history list. To remove history list, press the settings button at the top right of the browser > Settings > Privacy and Security > then select Clear history. Settings Press or to use more functions, including Privacy & security, Accessibility and so on. Refresh/Stop Press to refresh on the current page, press X to stop loading the current page. Forward Press ←/→ go to previous/ next webpage screen. 10 Using the option menu Press Settings to display the browser option menu. Press on the desired item to use webpage viewing control. Watching Videos Playing videos From the Home screen click on the File Browser icon > Video Player icon that can be played. to open videos Use the directional-up/ down button to scroll through the file list. Press to select a video file for playback. Zoostorm Play supports subtitle of sub, ssa, srt, lrc format, encoded in UTF8 format. The file name of the subtitle must be identical to that of the video file. The subtitle will be loaded automatically during video playback. Adding the current song into playlist In the music playback screen, long press on the song and choose add to Playlist. 13 Viewing photos From the App Draw, press Gallery to view photos. Thumbnail View displays the catalog as a table of thumbnail images in adjustable sizes. Press the Directional-up/ down button to scroll the photo list. Press the desired photo to full screen view. In full screen mode, press the Return button to return to thumbnail view mode. Start to view photo Press Menu button on the remote to show the control bar. 14 View the previous / next photo. Press to select Local Disk /SD card /USB to enter. Use the Directional-up/ down button to scroll through the file list to press the desired folder or file. To open a file or folder, press on the file or folder. Using the option menu On file explorer screen, press the Menu button to show the option menu. 15 Copy / move files or folders 1. From the file list, select the desired files/folders to be copied or moved. 2. Press Menu to show the option menu, press Cut or Copy. 3. Go to the target folder that you want to put the selected file or folder. 4. Press Menu Paste. Note: it may take longer time to paste large files/ folders. Rename the file or folder 1. 2. 3. 4. From the file list, select the desired file/folder to be renamed. Press Menu to show the option menu, select Rename. Use On-screen keyboard to enter a new file name. Press Rename to confirm. Delete files or folders 1. From the file list, select the desired files/folders to be deleted. 2. Press Menu to show the option menu. 3. Press Delete to delete the file/folder. Managing third party applications Zoostorm Play supports third party applications (such as Game applications, etc.); you can install or uninstall applications for the system manually or by using the Google Play Store. 1. Download and install the application. 2. Download the desired applications into your computer. 3. Copy the downloaded applications to the unit via USB device or SD Card (you can also download the desired applications from the browser in your device). Note: The system only supports XXX.apk format applications to be installed. 4. From Home screen, press SettingsSecurityunknown source. 5. In file explorer, find the directory where the application is placed to, and click to start the installation. 6. After finishing the installation, you will see the Applications in the App draw. Uninstall application 1. From the Home screen, press Settings Open Apps. 2. Press the application you desire to uninstall, and then press Uninstall. Note: The default applications can’t be uninstalled from the unit. From Home screen, choose Settings, and then press the desired items to be configured to start the Setting. 16 Wireless & networks Turn on Wi-Fi: From Main menu choose Settings Wireless & networks Wi-Fi, Then “√” will appear next to Wi-Fi when you have turned on the Wi-Fi. Join a Wi-Fi network: From the detected network list, select a network, if necessary, enter a password and tap "Connect" to save the settings for the encrypted connection and connect to WiFi. (Networks that require a password appear with a lock icon). Apps Allows you to manage the applications sorted by download, on SD card, running and all. Accounts & sync Allows you to add new email account and sync all the email accounts. Location service Let apps use data from sources such as Wi-Fi to determine your approximate location. Moreover, let Google use your location to improve search results. Security Allows you to set encryption, passwords, device administration and credential storage. 17 Language & Input Set region and language, text input methods. Backup & reset Allows you to backup account, app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and other settings to Google servers. Additionally, this item helps to restore the Zoostorm Play system to factory settings. Date& Time Set date, time, and time zone. Accessibility Allows you to install web scripts, set large text, touch and hold delay. Developer options Helps you manage the Zoostorm Play system, such as USB debugging, stay awake, HDCP checking and so on. About Device Display the information about Zoostorm Play, such as legal information, model number, and firmware version, build number and so on. Trouble Shooting Power on the TV box, but TV detects no signal Make sure the HDMI /AV cable is securely connected firmly. Make sure the TV is selected for the correct HDMI/AV port. Can’t power on the TV box Make sure the power adapter is correctly plugged in, if the unit is powered on, the status indicator at the front panel will light in red if in standby, and light in blue if the Power is on. Can’t connect to Wi-Fi or Ethernet network Make sure you have connected to Wi-Fi network or Ethernet network and check your password; check whether the network can be connected by another device. TV display is not in full screen size Please check the display settings. Put the firmware issued by the manufacturer to store in SD card. 2. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to create a SD card containing the firmware. 3. Insert the SD card into the TV box before you power it on. Then reboot to automatically update and the status indicator will blink in red. 4. After the upgrade is complete, the status indicator will not blink. The TV box will boot into the Home screen, then you must eject the SD card and remove the upgrade folder, otherwise next time you Power on, you will boot into re-upgrading status. Maintenance Clean the unit with a soft and dry cloth; be careful not to wipe it with anything abrasive. Never use alcohol, benzene, thinner, cleaning fluid or other chemicals. Don’t use compressed air to remove dust. Zoostorm Standard Warranty What this Warranty Covers Zoostorm warrants that each hardware product that you purchase is free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use during the warranty period. The warranty period for the product starts on the original date of delivery to the customer for a period of 12 months. The duration of this warranty is then offered as a return to base service. Only the cost of the parts and labour involved in servicing any eligible repairs under the return to base warranty are covered. This warranty also includes a technical support service via telephone and e-mail for the full duration of the warranty. This technical support service only provides support on your purchased product and software supplied by Zoostorm on your purchased product. How to Obtain Warranty Service If the product does not function as warranted during the warranty period, you may obtain warranty services by contacting Zoostorm directly on 0844 800 6183 or email support@zoostorm.co.uk. The warranty service is only available in the UK; therefore additional charges may apply for warranty claims outside of the UK. What We Will Do to Correct Problems We will attempt to diagnose and resolve problems over the telephone or e-mail. We may direct you to download and install designated software updates. Some problems can be resolved with a replacement part that you can install yourself called a "Customer Replaceable Unit" or "CRU." If so, we will ship the CRU to you for you to install. If the problem cannot be resolved over the telephone or remotely, through your application of software updates or the installation of a CRU by you, we will arrange for service of the product at our UK repair centre. If we determine that we are unable to repair the product, we will replace it with one that is at least functionally equivalent. If we determine that problems are as a result of customer misuse, improper maintenance, accidents, modifications, unsuitable physical operating environments, power surges or natural disasters, where possible we will offer to repair the product at a "fair" price to you. We will carry out all repairs within a 10 working day timescale. 20 Replacement of a Product or Part When the warranty service involves the replacement of a product or part, the replaced product or part becomes Zoostorm's property and the replacement product or part becomes your property. Only unaltered Zoostorm products and parts are eligible for replacement. The replacement product or part provided by Zoostorm may not be new, but it will be in good working order and at least functionally equivalent to the original product or part. The replacement product or part shall be warranted for the balance of the period remaining on the original product. Before we replace a product or part, you agree to: 1. Remove all features, parts, options, alterations, and attachments not under warranty service; 2. Ensure that the product or part is free of any legal obligations or restrictions that prevent its replacement; and 3. Obtain authorisation from the owner to have us service a product or part if you do not own it. Customer Additional Responsibilities Where applicable, before service is provided, you agree to: 1. Follow the service request procedures that we specify; 2. Backup or secure all programs and data contained in the product; 3. Provide us with all system keys or passwords to perform the warranty service; and 4. Ensure that all information about identified or identifiable individuals ("Personal Data") is deleted from the product or that, with respect to any Personal Data that you do not delete, you are in compliance with all applicable laws. Use of Personal Information If you obtain service under this warranty, Zoostorm will store, use and process information about you including name, phone numbers, address, and e-mail address. We will only use this information to perform service under this warranty. We reserve the right to contact you after you have obtained services under this warranty to inquire about your satisfaction regarding our warranty service or to notify them about any product recalls or safety issues. We will only disclose your information where we are required to by law. What This Warranty Does Not Cover • Loss of, or damage to, your data; • Any software programs, that were not provided with the product by Zoostorm or installed subsequently; • Failure or damage resulting from misuse, accident, modification, unsuitable physical or operating environment, natural disasters, power surges, or improper maintenance by you; • Damage caused by a non-authorised warranty service provider; • Shipping costs for non-eligible warranty repairs; • Failure of, or damage caused by, any third party products, software, peripherals or components. This warranty is voided by removal or alteration of identification labels on the product or its parts. 21 Limitation of Liability Zoostorm is only responsible for loss or damage to your product while it is: 1) In our possession; or 2) In transit in those cases where we are responsible for the transportation. Zoostorm is not responsible for any data including confidential, proprietary, or personal data contained in/on the product. You should remove and/or backup all such information from the product prior to its service or return. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL ZOOSTORM, ITS SUPPLIERS, RESELLERS, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING EVEN IF INFORMED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY: 1) THIRD PARTY CLAIMS AGAINST YOU FOR DAMAGES; 2) LOSS OR DAMAGE TO YOUR DATA; OR 3) SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS, BUSINESS REVENUE, GOODWILL OR ANTICIPATED SAVINGS.
