Safety instructions

Please make sure the power connection is correct (see the technical parameters for
details) and well-grounded.

Cooling water pipeline and extraction line shall be maintained unobstructed without dead
bend in the running.

Method of rotational forward-push shall be adopted for the installation of pipeline for
glass parts to avoid damages caused to the glass parts.

If inflammable specimen or organic solvent is applied, please make sure no solution
splashing out and take all fire precaution measures

Apply a rag to wipe the glass parts clean after washing away the stubborn stains; do not
use hard objects to hit the glass.
I. Purposes and features
R-series large rotary evaporator is mainly used in the small-scale test, pilot-scale test and
production in biological, pharmaceutical, chemical, food and other fields. As with large capacity
and large-diameter rotary evaporating flask, when it is placed in a water bath, along with the
simultaneous performing of rotating and heating, it allows the solution spreading and
evaporating rapidly. What’s more, the product may be fitted with the multi-purpose water
circulating vacuum pump, diaphragm vacuum pump, low-temperature circulating (vacuum)
pump, circulating cooler, constant-temperature circulator, low-temperature cooling liquid
circulating pump and so on to form a system device.

Teflon(PTFE) and fluororubber dual spin seal, patented technology to ensure the high
vacuum.

Accurate and reliable temperature control system,.

On the premise of not affecting the vacuum and solution distillation, continuous receiving
allowable.

PTFE emptying valve, corrosion-resistant without any pollution.

Including two types: regular type and explosion-proof type, which can be adopted based
on the experimental environment.

V. Preparations for installation
1. Please refer to the packing list to check whether the components and parts are complete
after opening the packing box; if there is any missing part, please contact us.
2. Remove residues on the glass parts before the assembly and keep the glass contact
surface clean; apply vacuum grease to both sides of the seal ring before the installation.
3. Tools that might be used in the installation including allen wrench, screwdriver and so on
shall be well prepared.

6.1 Upright pipe installation
Rotating in clockwise direction, the upper upright pipe is connected with the lower upright
pipe by screw threads (as shown below), on which, the cross clamp, vacuum meter bracket
and condenser clamp holder are successively installed.

6.2 Rotary shaft installation
Set the O-ring on the glass rotary shaft which shall be placed into the nose with the O-ring
against the nose shell. (As shown below)

6.3 Three-way flask installation
Set the retaining nut on the lower bore of glass three-way flask and set the retaining nut
check ring on the lower neck of glass three-way flask; then insert the flange seal washer into
the three-way flask bore and insert the three-way flask with the seal washer into the upper
internal opening of the glass rotary shaft, ensuring the center of three-way flask in the
horizontal direction on the left and properly tightening the retaining nut. (As shown below)

6.4 Glass rotary flask installation
Set the Teflon seal ring on the assembled glass rotary shaft as shown in the drawing and
then set the rotary flask nut on the bottom flask with the check ring on the flask neck. Rotary
flask positioning: apply the allen wrench to insert into the hole (inclined left) of nose seat,
turning the rotary shaft to make sure the shaft hole coincided with the seat hole, no inserting of
allen wrench when the rotary shaft cannot be twisted any more. Last, install the rotary flask
with retaining nut and check ring on the glass rotary shaft, tightening the rotary shaft nut. Turn
the rotary shaft, ensuring the rotation steady and consistent with the shaft center.

6.5 Installation of auxiliary condenser and three-way flask
a. Connection of ROVA-N10L/ROVA-N50L condenser with three-way flask
First, secure the pallet on the upright pipe and then place the auxiliary condenser (ROVA-N10L
and ROVA-N50L provided with auxiliary condenser) on the mounted pallet, adjusting the height and
ensuring the side connecting mouth of auxiliary condenser and three-way flask connecting mouth at
the same level, fix the pallet and cross clamp screw .Then set the connecting flange on the bottom
connecting mouth of auxiliary condenser with the check ring on the connecting mouth neck of
auxiliary condenser. In the same way, set the other connecting flange and check ring on the threeway flask connecting mouth, place the flange seal washer in any of connecting bores of three-way
flask or auxiliary condenser and finally tighten the retaining screw and nut. (As shown below)
Note: ROVA-N5L is not provided with auxiliary condenser, for which, the below method shall be
directly adopted to connect the condenser and three-way flask.

b. Connection of ROVA-N20L auxiliary condenser with three-way flask:
First set the connecting flange on the bottom connecting mouth of three-way flask and set
the check ring on the neck of three-way flask, insert half of the flange seal washer into the
three-way flask bore and then set the connecting flange nut and check ring on one end of glass
elbow, finally screw the nut and bolt together, adjust the condenser pallet to an appropriate
height with the glass elbow in right direction, and in the same way, connect the auxiliary
condenser and glass elbow with connecting flange and check ring which shall be tightened at
last.

6.6 Receiving flask installation
a. ROVA-N5L receiving flask installation
Place the receiving flask on the pallet and lift it to a certain height; set the connecting
flange on the bottom connecting mouth of receiving flask with the check ring on the neck, insert
half of the flange seal washer into the receiving flask bore and then in the same way, set the
connecting flange bolt and check ring on the lower connecting mouth of condenser connector;
finally insert the lower interface of condenser connector into the other half of the flange seal
washer and screw the nut and bolt together. Afterwards, in the same way, successively set the
connecting flange and check ring on the lower connecting mouth of condenser and upper
connecting mouth of condenser connector, with half of the seal washer inserted into the
condenser connector bore. Then raise the height of receiving flask of the fixed condenser
connector, ensuring the other half of the flange seal washer inserted in the condenser bore to
secure the receiving flask pallet; tighten the connecting flange and make sure that the
connecting mouths of condenser, condenser connector and receiving flask are closely
meshing with each other without strain so as not to break the glass.

b. Methods for connection of ROVA-N10/20/50L auxiliary condenser with receiving flask
Place the receiving flask on the pallet and lift it to a certain height with the cross clamp
firmly fixed, then set the connecting flange on the connecting mouth neck of receiving flask and
put the automatic switching valve in the flange seal washer. (Note: Automatic switching valve
plane toward recycling flask, avoid to be inverted.) The connecting flange and check ring shall
also be successively set on the lower connecting mouth of auxiliary condenser. Then regulate
the height of receiving flask pallet, ensuring the other half of the switching valve right inserted
in the lower connecting mouth bore of auxiliary condenser. Secure the cross clamp and tighten
the bolt and nut. (As shown below)

6.7 Installation of the rest parts
a. Connection of ROVA-N10/20/50L main condenser w ith auxiliary condenser as w ell as
connection of exhaust nozzle also includes connecting flange, check ring and flange seal
washer with the mounting method as described above. (As shown below)
b. Relief valve installation: it shall be directly installed in the receiving flask bore.
c. Vacuum meter installation: secure the vacuum meter on the vacuum meter holder and then
together into the vacuum meter bracket and tighten the retaining screw, adjusting the
holder to an appropriate height to enable operators to obtain vacuum meter readings by
horizontal check.

8.1 Charging method
The rotary evaporator is pumped into the state of negative pressure, with a hose to the
feeding valve is connected with the sample, open the feeding valve, sample will be pumped
directly into rotary bottle, feeding close after charging valve, adjusting rotary bottle height,
which is placed in the water bath pot.
8.2 Operating equipment
8.2.1 Panel I:
1. Add pure water into the water bath (submerged rotating bottle of 1/2, not overflow),
connecting the power supply with the power indicator lamp on.
2. Click on the “Power” key, the window will display the present measured temperature in
water bath.
3. Click on the “SET” key to enter the temperature setting state; then click the up key “▲” or
down key “▼” to increase or decrease the thermal value until to get the desired testing
temperature. Afterwards save settings with a click of “SET” key and exit the setup program.
(One number will be modified by one click of up key or down key, with long press resulting
in continuous numerical jumping).
4. Click on the “
” key with the heating allowable indicator lamp on. When the set
temperature is higher than or equal to the actual measured temperature, the heating
operation proceeds with the heating output indicator lamp on; when the measured
temperature is 5℃ higher than the set temperature, the alarm indicator lamp will be lit with
the buzzer beeping (Click the up key or the down key to adjust the sound).
5. Click on the “
” key and the characters on the rotate-speed display window stop blinking,
obtain the desired rotate speed by adjusting the rotate-speed knob.
8.2.2 Panel II:
1. Add pure water into the water bath (submerged rotating bottle of 1/2, not overflow),
2. Turn on the power switch, the temperature display shows "CC2P", the speed display
shows "S1.1", all identifiers light; after 4 seconds entering the normal display.

① Click on the "code switch" button, the temperature display flashing display
temperature settings, and then click on the "code switch" button, the speed display
shows flashing speed setting, rotary the "code switch" can modify the settings
(dextral increase , L decreases). After modify the desired setting and then click on
"code switch" button, the setting is automatically saved, the controller exits the
current state.

6. System self-tuning
Click on "
" key to start heating control. In the non-state,press "code switch" button
for 3 seconds,temperature window displays the password prompt "Lc",speed window
displays the password value. Rotate "code switch" button to modify the password to
"58", then click on "code switch" to enter into the self-tuning selection state, the
temperature window displays the prompt "AT", the speed window displays value.
Rotate "code switch", modify the parameters, if modify the value from "0" to "1", click on
"code switch" button, then enter the self-tuning, AT NOW identifier lights, self-tuning
ends, AT NOW identifier extinguished; If modify the value from "1" to "0", click on "code
switch" button, then stop self-tuning.

Note: when the temperature control effect is not ideal, the user can self-tuning. In
self-tuning process the temperature will have a large overshoot, in the system

self-tuning before users should give full consideration to this factor. In the system
of the system process if there is an over temperature alarm, ALM1 indicator
lights, heating alarm relay automatically disconnect.
8.3 Emptying
1. For the ROVA-N5L, close the valve of the condenser connector and open the exhaust valve on
the receiving flask to depressurize the internal receiving flask, and then open the emptying
valve to discharge the materials.
2. For ROVA-N10/20/50L, open the exhaust valve on the receiving flask to depressurize
the internal receiving flask, and then
open the emptying valve to discharge the materials.
8.4 Halt
1. Stop the specimen bottle from rotating, adjust the lift height and remove the specimen
bottle out of water bath.
2. Open the feed pipe tap, eliminating the inside vacuum.
3. Turn the decompressor off.
4. If no specimen is added, please turn off the cooling water circulating device along with the
water bath. (*As the water bath or specimen bottle would not immediately cool down after
the concentration, please be careful with the high temperature).
5. Rotary flask disassembly: apply the cross screwdriver to insert in the hole of nose seat
(inclined left) to secure the rotary shaft, loosen the clamp nut with bottle-removal device
and detach the rotary flask.
8.5 Treatment after halt
For long periods without using it, please shut off the power switch and disconnect the
power.
IX. Maintenance
1. Please shut off the power switch before the maintenance, disconnecting the power cord
and power.
2. Please use wrung-out wet soft cloth to wipe clean. Stubborn stains shall be cleaned by
neutral detergents which shall be then wiped off with a rag.
3. The maintenance of internal electrical and heating parts must be conducted by
professionals or trained electricians.
4. Do not directly splash water over the product or use abrasive powder, diluent, oil,
kerosene, acidic material and similar substance during the site clearing, or else the shock
or other accidents would occur.
