P/N: C3019
This Rear Shock Crossmember is designed to relocate the upper mounts for the rear shock absorbers
on 1967-69 Camaros and Firebirds. By shortening the main tube a total of 1” (1/2” each side) this kit will
fit 1968-79 Nova, 1971-77 Ventura, 1973-79 Omega, 1973-75 Apollo and 1970-81 Camaro/Firebird.
This kit must be used when relocating the leaf springs inboard with our C2032 Offset Spring Hangers.
Modifications must be made to the trunk pan directly above the shocks for clearance.
1. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it under the frame rails with jack stands.
2. Remove the shock absorbers and the rubber axle snubbers located on the frame rail directly above
the axle housing.
3. Place the new crossmember in position against the frame rails. The location of the crossmember is
determined as follows:
a. For 1967-68 Camaros and Firebirds- Locate the hole in the bottom of the “U” bracket with
the snubber mounting hole. Use the original snubber bolt to hold the crossmember in
b. For 1969 Camaros and Firebirds- Line up the hole on the side of the “U” bracket with the
snubber mounting hole. Use the original snubber bolt to hold the crossmember in place.
4. Scribe around the “U” channel brackets. This will give you an idea of where the frame needs to be
cleaned for welding.
5. Mark the floorpan to show exactly where the shock mounts will protrude through.
6. Remove the crossmember and remove all paint and rust from the scribed areas. Modify the floor pan
at this time.
7. Re-install the crossmember and weld into place securely around the “U” channel brackets.
8. Relocate the shocks so that the tops mount in the brackets provided on the crossmember. The lower
mounts will be relocated to the inside of the leaf springs, on the backside of the axle housing. We
suggest you install a set of Competition Engineering Traction Bars P/N: C2101 to make the shock
relocation easier.
9. Paint all welded areas to prevent rust and tighten all bolts securely.
