C3600
Universal Transmission Crossmembers
P/N: C3600 & C3601
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Competition Engineering Universal Transmission Crossmembers are designed to fit most GM
transmissions. They are intended to be used as solid mounts, however, rubber or urethane
mounts may be used by drilling additional holes in the mount bracket. These kits are not prewelded allowing the installer to use them on vehicles with offset drive trains. This also allows the
user to install the C3601 as either a raised or dropped crossmember.
• To install the kit, first bolt the transmission mount bracket to the transmission. Note: Additional
holes may have to be drilled in the mount depending on the type of transmission or mount being
used.
• Measure the width of the frame rails or chassis tubes at this point, subtract 1”, and cut the
crossmember to this length. This will allow enough room to slide the crossmember in and out of
place. Note: On offset drive trains you will have to deduct the amount of offset from one side of
the tube and then deduct ½” from each side to allow for clearance to remove and install the tube.
• With the transmission in its proper position tack weld the tube to the transmission mount bracket
making sure to have an even space at either frame rail.
• Place a chassis tab on the frame rail along side of the tube and mark the hole location on the
tube. Do this for both sides. Remove the crossmember and drill a ¾” hole through the tube at
these locations being careful to drill in a straight line.
• Insert the two ¾” tubes included in the kit in these holes, center them, and tack weld them in
place.
• Bolt the crossmember to the transmission. Bolt the (4) chassis tabs to the crossmember on
either side of the tubes tacked at the end. Tack weld the chassis tabs to the frame rails.
• Check to make sure that the crossmember can be easily removed from the vehicle and finish
welding all joints.
