CHANGES
General


We have added several interactive workflow topics to the Help & How-To Center that offer a
graphical view of the setup and processing steps necessary to accomplish various tasks across the
application. From these workflows, you can drill down to detailed step-by-step procedures, making
them potential training tools for your staff. For more information, see Workflows in Accounting CS.
We have made the following changes in the Actions > Reconcile Bank Accounts screen.
 We have added the Selected total field in the status bar of the Deposits & Additions, Checks &
Payments, and Direct Deposit tabs. This field displays the total of amounts from all highlighted
rows.
 The Edit > Clear and Edit > Unclear commands now update all highlighted rows instead of only
the primary focus row.
Accounting
We have added the Financial Statement Worksheet account activity view to help you analyze GL account
activity efficiently. This view enables you to review totals by classification code and subcode, drill down to
view account details, and drill down again to view transaction details. You can access this view from the
Actions > Analyze Account Activity command or the Analyze Account Activity button on the toolbar. For
more information, see Analyze account activity.

Accounting CS Client Access


We have added the Prompt to confirm pay date in Enter Batch Payroll Checks in Client Access
checkbox in the Preferences tab of the Setup > Firm Information > Firm screen. This enables you to
require pay date confirmation when a payroll schedule is selected in the Actions > Enter Batch Payroll
Checks screen in Accounting CS Client Access.
The Negative Check Treatment dialog, which opens from the Actions > Enter Batch Payroll Checks
screen, now lists all employees that have negative net payroll checks in a batch and enables you to
select an action for all of those checks at that same time.
Affordable Care Act information
We have made a number of enhancements to Affordable Care Act reporting processes. For more
information, see Affordable Care Act reporting.
 We have added the ability to send the Employee copy of Form 1095-C to the Employee Self-Service
portals.
 We have added Certifications of Eligibility checkboxes to the Additional Information dialog for Form
1095-C (accessed from the Payroll Taxes tab of the Setup > Clients screen) to enable you to select
options for Line 22 of Form 1094-C.
 We have added new methods by which your firm and your clients (via Accounting CS Client Access)
can enter Affordable Care Act data.
 We have added two data-entry dialogs to the Affordable Care Act section of the Personal tab of
the Setup > Employees screen.
 Use the 1095-C Part II: Offer and Coverage dialog to enter data for Boxes 14, 15, and 16 of
Form 1095-C.
 For employees of a self-insured employer, use the 1095-C Part III: Self-Insured dialog to
enter data that will go to part III of Form 1095-C.
 We have added a new 1095-C data type to the Spreadsheet Import wizard (accessed by
choosing File > Import > Spreadsheet) to enable you to import the necessary data into existing
employee dialogs to complete Form 1095-C. For more information, see Spreadsheet import –
1095-C.
 The 4th-quarter update, scheduled for December, 2015, will include the ability to electronically file tax
year 2015 Forms 1094-C and 1095-C (pending IRS finalization and approval).
General – Payroll





We have added the ability to set up notifications and alerts that can be sent to your firm and your
clients when specific payroll-related activities take place. You can choose to have the application alert
you via pop-up alerts and, for Virtual Office CS® users, email notifications, for missing or applied for
SSN/EIN numbers, exceeded liability thresholds, the addition of new jurisdictions to a client record,
and more. For more information, see Setting up payroll alerts and email notifications. (Accounting CS
Ideas Community, Ideas 401, 1519, 2128, and 2223)
We have added options to the Main tab of the Setup > Accruable Benefits screen to enable you to
delay the accrual and use of employee accruable benefits for a specific time period. For more
information, see Setting up accruable benefits. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, Idea 2243)
We have added an Activation Date column to the grid in the Accruable Benefits tab of the Setup >
Employees screen to enable you to specify the effective date of the accruable benefit item. For more
information, see Setting up accruable benefits.
We have added the ability to create payroll check templates for after-the-fact payroll checks in the
Actions > Enter Transactions screen. Once you have created a check template for an employee
based on a specific payroll check, you can use that template to ensure that the application uses the
same pay, deduction, and tax amounts for the employee’s future payroll checks. This can be helpful
when an employee’s pay amount should be consistent from payroll check to payroll check, even if
pay, deduction, or tax amounts would normally be calculated differently. For more information, see
Setting up a payroll check template. (Accounting CS Ideas Community, Ideas 1293 and 2329)
We have added the ability to delete payroll check templates using the Actions > Edit Multiple
Transactions dialog. This option is available only if you are processing after-the-fact payroll.



We have added new fields to the Payroll Automation tab of the Setup > Firm Information > Firm
screen to enable you to set a daily transmission time for InsurePay files rather than sending them
during check printing. For more information, see Automating payroll tasks.
We have added a Data Year section in the Source Data screen of the Spreadsheet Import Wizard for
employee data. You can now choose to import either current-year or prior-year earnings information.
Workpapers CS™




The application now tracks workpaper history and binder history in the Events tab of the Setup > Firm
Information > Firm screen.
We have added the Fieldwork Utility to enable you to work in a client record while in the field without
a network connection. For more information, see Using the Fieldwork Utility.
We have added the Best Practices for Source Document Processing topic to the Help & How-To
Center. The topic provides you with tips for achieving the best results in the preparation of individual
1040 income tax returns via Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in Accounting CS Workpapers.
You can access the topic from the application by right-clicking the Source Document Processing
folder or via the link in the Add Workpaper > Scan page.
We have added several interactive workflow topics to the Help & How-To Center that offer a graphical
view of the setup and processing steps for audit-based workpapers. From these workflows, you can
drill down to detailed step-by-step procedures, making them potential training tools for your staff. For
more information, see Audit-based engagement workflow, overview.
Data conversion from Creative Solutions Accounting™ to Accounting CS
The application now supports the import of the Delinquent Employer option for the State of Michigan.
When the Delinquent Employer option is marked in CSA for an imported client, the Delinquent Employer
checkbox is marked for that client in the Unemployment Rate dialog (accessed from the Payroll
Information tab of the Setup > Clients screen) in Accounting CS.
Reports
We have updated the following reports.
 The Accruable Benefits payroll report now includes the Accruable Benefits tab in the Filtering and
Sorting section of the report options.

Note: If your firm has modified the predefined version of a report, the application will not overwrite your
existing report with an updated version. If this is the case, you will need to make the necessary changes
to your customized report manually, or you will need to restore the latest predefined version using the
Report Designer. To do the latter, select the report from the Reports list pane in the Report Designer and
then choose File > Restore Default.
Payroll form and filing information
The Payroll Form and Filing Information portlet on the Home or Firm dashboard provides the following
information: form approval status, form availability, available filing methods, form due dates, form filing
