What are the initial settings for the Freedom 1 detector?

Rotate all control knobs to the ∆ positions.

How does the Discrimination feature work?

When a metal object is accepted, the detector's speaker or earphone sound will increase from the pre-selected audio threshold level. When a metal object is eliminated (rejected), the sound will decrease or become silent.

What are the different Trash Elimination Settings?

Nails: Nails and rusty iron will be eliminated. Foil: Bottlecaps, foil, nails, and rusty iron will be eliminated. Salt water will be eliminated near this setting. Pulltabs: Pulltabs, bottlecaps, foil, nails, and rusty iron will be eliminated. Nickels, rings, and many foreign coins and tokens may also be eliminated at this setting.

How do I pinpoint the exact location of a target?

Press and hold the 'trigger switch' while holding the searchcoil directly above or criss-crossed over the target.

How do I adjust the Ground Elimination control?

Hold the searchcoil about three feet above the ground, press and hold the trigger switch while lowering the searchcoil to two inches above ground level, note the audio response, raise the coil and release the switch, adjust the control if necessary.

How many batteries does the Freedom 1 require?

How do I replace the batteries?

Disconnect the searchcoil cable, loosen the captive thumbscrew beneath the control housing, press on the searchcoil connector to loosen the chassis, slide it out, and replace the batteries beneath the protective clamp.
