INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Quantum Rehab, a Division of Pride Mobility Products
Corporation. Quantum Rehab is dedicated to the customization of power
chairs for users with advanced rehabilitation and mobility issues. Quantum
Rehab also expands possibilities for enhanced healthcare attendant control
over power chair functions to provide a secondary level of support for our
customers where necessary.
Dynamic DX Attendant Control Unit (ACU)
The Dynamic DX Attendant Control Unit (ACU) allows an attendant to take
over power chair movement control from the user. The ACU is equipped
with a toggle switch, which moves the chair from user control to attendant
control, and a joystick and a speed adjustment dial, both intended specifically
for attendant control.
This manual is designed to explain basic operation for the following functions
available with the ACU:
1. User/Attendant Control Modes
- This section will explain how to switch from User Control Mode to
Attendant Control Mode and vice versa, and what each mode
encompasses.
2. Joystick OONAPU
- OONAPU stands for “Out Of Neutral At Power Up.” This is a safety
measure designed to prevent unintended movement of the power chair.
Figure 1 provides information on the ACU components and connections.
Use this diagram to familiarize yourself with the function and location of
each component before using the ACU.

USER/ATTENDANT CONTROL MODES
User Control Mode places the power chair user in complete control of the
chair. The user is able to control all functions available with the primary
remote control system installed on the power chair. If a situation occurs in
which an attendant must take over control of the chair, then the attendant
must place the chair in Attendant Control Mode using the toggle switch on
the ACU. This will enable the attendant to choose the speed and direction of
the chair.
NOTE: When the ACU is in Attendant Control Mode, the attendant has control
over driving only.
Mode Selection
1. To switch from User Control Mode to Attendant Control Mode, toggle
the switch toward the Attendant Symbol. See figure 2.
2. To switch from Attendant Control Mode to User Control Mode, toggle
the switch toward the User Symbol.
NOTE: If the control mode is
changed while the power chair is in
motion, the mode will not switch
immediately. The chair will come to
a controlled stop, and then the
control mode will change as
indicated by the switch position. If
the ACU is disconnected while the
chair is in motion, the chair will
come to controlled stop, and then
switch to User Control Mode.

Speed Adjustment
The ACU controls chair speed by means of a speed adjustment dial located
on the front side of the unit. See figure 3. The attendant can adjust the
preprogrammed chair drive speeds by turning the speed adjustment dial—
left decreases the speed, right increases the speed.
TM
Figure 3. Speed Adjustment
Once a speed has been chosen, driving the chair is simple. When the joystick
is at rest, it is in the neutral position, and the power chair is stationary. Moving
the joystick in any direction will switch the chair from neutral to drive, and
the chair will move in the direction indicated by joystick position. To stop
chair movement, release the joystick or move it back to the neutral position.
JOYSTICK OONAPU
If the chair is powered up or the User/Attendant Control Mode changed while
the joystick is not in the neutral position, the Status LED will flash a fault
code and driving will be inhibited. To clear the fault, return the joystick to
the neutral position. If the fault lasts for more than five seconds, turn the
power off then on.
