Chapter 1 – Delivery Method and Minimum
Requirements
Delivery Method
MRCS for the WT4090 VOW is a software-only release in an msi setup package. The JRE 1.6
Java runtime environment is required for the MRCS desktop component and is included with the msi setup package. The installer will check for the valid JRE version and install it if necessary.

These are only recommendations and you may obtain satisfactory performance on computers with a configuration that differs from these specifications.

Chapter 2 – Installing MRCS
Uninstall Previous Versions
Uninstall any previous versions of MRCS before installing the latest version.
Note:
If the MRCS is already installed, double clicking on the MRCS setup package will uninstall the existing version.
Installing MRCS
To Install MRCS:
1. Download the setup package.

4. Accept the license agreement and click Next to display the Destination Location dialog

5. Accept or change the Destination folder and click Next.
6. If the required version of JRE 6- o IS install the appropriate JRE 6 version before the MRCS Setup Status dialog box
(Figure 5) is shown for installing MRCS.

Figure 5 o IS installed, the MRCS Setup Status (Figure 5) dialog box will display and MRCS will be installed.
7. Once the installation is complete, the following MRCS files will be created in the folder where the user has installed MRCS (e.g., Under “C:\Program Files\Motorola\MRCS”).
The files created are:

8. The installer creates a short cut on the desktop to start the batch file. Users can use this shortcut to start the installation and hence connect to the device over ActiveSync using
MRCS.
Note:
In order to use the MRCS in a standalone (ActiveSync mode), make sure ActiveSync is properly connected between the device and the local system PC.
Installing MRCS on a Device
To install MRCS on a device
1. Use Motorola Remote Control shortcut in the desktop or use Start -> All Programs ->
Motorola -> MRCS -> Start Motorola Remote Control.

2. If- o MRCS is not installed on the device, installation will be automatic. o An older version of MRCS is installed on the device; the user will be prompted if they
want to install the newer version (Figure 7).
• The user can continue with the existing version of MRCS on the device by clicking No.
• The user can uninstall the older version and install the newest version by clicking Yes.

3. After successful installation, the following files/folders are created on the device (Under
\Application\MotoRC folder):

This is the MRCS executable running in the device side.
At a time only one instance will be running.

Notes:
This file contains the configuration details of the MRCS in the device side. Following are the attributes supported by this configuration file –
LOG_FILE_SIZE (to set the size of the log file)
LOG_LEVEL (to set the log level)
PORT (device MRCS running port)
CLEAR_LOG_FLAG ( to clean off the logs of previous session)
SEEK_PERMISSION (to check for user permission before connecting through MRCS)
SECURE (to turn on/off secure communication)
This is the link file used to start the MRC.exe after the warm or cold boot (This file is present in
\Application\Startup).
This is the resource bundle containing the messages displayed by the MRCS. If the customer wants localized messages, they can change this file and provision it to the device using MSP policy. At present, this file contains the messages for seeking user permission for making a remote connection. dll file for encryption between device and server.
This file is used to cleanup the MRCS during uninstalling the MRCS.
Folder created to contain the log files.
If the device is not a WT4090 Voice Only Wearable then Remote Control connection will stop at this stage. The installed MRCS software in the device will not be cleaned up.
In case ActiveSync is not connected, the applet will open without having a MRCS connection to the device. You will still be able to use MRCS through a WLAN (you will have to manually provide the IP address of the device through the configuration tab in the applet). Refer to the user guide for changing the configuration to use the WLAN connection
Uninstalling MRCS
To uninstall MRCS
1. Click Start > Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.
2. Highlight “Motorola Remote Control Solution”
To uninstall MRCS using MRCS setup package
1. Double click on the MRCS setup package.
2. Confirm uninstall message
3. Clicking on OK will remove the MRCS
