Connect Tech Inc. provides a Lifetime Warranty for all Connect Tech Inc. products. Should this product, in Connect Tech Inc.'s opinion, fail to be in good working order during the warranty period, Connect Tech Inc. will, at its option, repair or replace this product at no charge, provided that the product has not been subjected to abuse, misuse, accident, disaster or non-Connect Tech
Inc. authorized modification or repair.

Introduction
Connect Tech’s Qseven Gen 2.0 Carrier is a compact ruggedized carrier that integrates with any industry standard Qseven Gen 2.0 module.
With dual Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, and DisplayPort; the Qseven Gen 2.0 Carrier is a compact modern carrier. With the addition of mSATA/SATA switching that utilizes the Qseven Gen 2.0
Modules SATA connections, a maximum configuration of 2 mSATA SSD or 2 Mini-PCIe with 2
SATA HDD or 1 mSATA SSD, 1Mini-PCIe, and 1 SATA HDD is possible. Combined with the new Gen 2.0 features, the Qseven Gen 2.0 Carrier performs exceptionally with low power consumption.
What is Qseven?
Qseven is an off-the-shelf, multi-vendor, computer-on-module that integrates the core components of a common PC. The Qseven standard allows upgrading to the latest processor and memory technology with ease, while maintaining the I/O interfaces.

What is Qseven Gen 2.0?
Qseven Gen 2.0 is the latest generation of Qseven modules. Expanding upon the original feature set of the Qseven with the addition of a new µQseven module size, as well as industry standards like USB 3.0 and DisplayPort. Qseven Gen 2.0 updates the previous architecture of the Qseven module.

ESD Warning
Electronic components and circuits are sensitive to Electro
Static Discharge (ESD). When handling any circuit board assemblies including Connect Tech Qseven Gen 2.0 Carrier, it is recommended that ESD safety precautions be observed. ESD safe best practices include, but are not limited to:
Leaving circuit boards in their antistatic packaging until they are ready to be installed.
Using a grounded wrist strap when handling circuit boards, at a minimum you should touch a grounded metal object to dissipate any static charge that may be present on you.
Only handling circuit boards in ESD safe areas, which may include ESD floor and table mats, wrist strap stations and ESD safe lab coats.
Avoiding handling circuit boards in carpeted areas.
Try to handle the board by the edges, avoiding contact with components.

In Qseven systems, the processor and chipset are implemented on the Qseven CPU module. This connects to the Qseven carrier via a MXM connector. Many of the existing Qseven Gen 1.0 modules use the Intel®
Atom™ mobile architecture, Z series processor SCH US15W chipset. The Qseven Gen 2.0 modules are focused on the Intel® Atom™ E3800 architecture (Previously called Bay Trail).

miniPCIe/mSATA Slots
Dual Function miniPCIe/mSATA Slots
The Qseven Gen 2.0 carrier has two special dual purpose functional miniPCIe/mSATA. Each of these slots can accept either a miniPCIe module or a mSATA SSD module. These slots have special circuitry that allows for the selection between connecting PCIe lanes or SATA lanes.
Each of these slots are also provided with a USB 2.0 in addition to the PCIe as per the mini PCIe specification, see below for a block diagram of the slots functionality. miniPCIe/mSATA Dual Functionality Diagram
SATA/mSATA Switching
In addition to having dual functionality miniPCIe/mSATA slots, the Qseven Gen 2.0 carrier has circuitry to allow for the unused SATA lines to be routed out to a standard SATA plug. See the block diagram for the

If a miniPCIe Card is placed into the miniPCIe/mSATA 0 slot, then the mSATA/SATA Jumper 0 (J1A) will select the SATA to be routed to the SATA 0 plug, causing the SATA lanes routed to the miniPCIe/mSATA 0 slot to be disconnected.
If however a mSATA Card is placed into the miniPCIe/mSATA 0 slot, then the mSATA/SATA Jumper 0
(J1A) will select the SATA to be routed to the miniPCIe/mSATA 0 slot, causing the SATA lanes routed to the SATA 0 plug to be disconnected.
This allows for the following maximum configurations:
A. 2x miniPCIe Cards, with 2x SATA plug connections
B. 1x miniPCIe Card, with 1x mSATA Card, and 1x SATA plug connection
C. 2x mSATA Cards

The Qseven Gen 2.0 carrier comes with mounting holes to allow for the population of a half and a full length module. One of the two slots will need to use a half-length module. To install a half-length module you must populate the half-length holes, as shown below. Typical Hardware Installation
1. Ensure all external system power supplies are off.
2. Install the Qseven module into the MXM connector P8. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s directions for proper installation of mounting hardware, heatsink/heatspreader, and any other applicable requirements from the manufacturer.
3. Install the necessary cables for application. At a minimum these would include: a) Power Cable b) CBG113 - DisplayPort Cable or Display Device c) CBG131 - USB Cable (With Keyboard/Mouse Attached) d) mSATA HDD or external SATA HDD
For additional information on the relevant cables, please see the Cables and Interconnects section of this manual.
4. Connect the Power Cable to the Power Supply
5. Switch ON the Power Supply. DO NOT power up your system by plugging in live power.
