GENERAL INFORMATION
Before the Meyer Electro-Lift® unit is disassembled for repairs, make certain that all the maintenance procedures have been checked; refer
to Owner's Manual. When the unit is to be overhauled, Master Seal Kit Part No. 15051 is required. This Kit contains all necessary Seals for
rebuilding.
These instructions are intended as a guideline for overhaul of an V-68 Electro-Lift® unit.
When ordering parts, furnish Type of Unit, Part No., Name and Description.
More detailed information covering principles of Operation, Troubleshooting, Disassembly and Repair are found in the V-68 Electro-Lift®
Service Manual. This is available for a nominal fee from your Meyer Distributor.
DISASSEMBLY AND INSPECTION OF UNIT
NOTE: DO NOT REUSE OLD O-RINGS.
Drain fluid from the unit by removing Fill/Pressure Relief Valve
(20) and Drain Plug (16). Clamp V-68 unit firmly into vise.
1. Remove 6 Allen Head Screws and Washers (3 & 4) from Front
and Rear Covers (1 & 2). Carefully push in on slots to separate
the covers from each other.
2. Remove the hydraulic side harness from the hydraulic unit.
Note the positioning of the colored wires on the solenoid
coil plugs to the coils on the hydraulic unit. (Reference
Form 1-883) See Figure 3.
4. VALVE BLOCK (33 & 59)
a) Clean "S1" Catridge (35) and inspect for damage. Replace
O-rings from Seal Kit No. 15928 or in Master Seal Kit No.
15051.
b) Clean "S2" Catridge (36) and inspect for damage. Replace
O-rings from Seal Kit No. 15056 or in Master Seal Kit No.
15051.
c) Clean "S3" Catridge (37) and inspect for damage. Replace
O-rings from Seal Kit No. 15930 or in Master Seal Kit No.
15051.
3. Remove hose 22675 from Valve Block and Lift Ram. See Figure
2. Note orientation of Lift Ram before removal. Loosen
then remove ram clamp assembly in order to remove Lift Ram.
d) Clean "S5 & S6" (60) Catridge and inspect for damage.
Replace O-rings from Seal Kit No. 15929 or in Master Seal
Kit No. 15051.
4. To disassemble MOTOR (5) from Base Plate, loosen Motor
mounting bolts, but DO NOT REMOVE bolts from motor
housing.
e) Clean "S7" Catridge (61) and inspect for damage. Replace
O-rings from Seal Kit No. 15930 or in Master Seal Kit No.
15051.
Note: Motor end plate to be held in place. Temporarily install
two 1/4-20 nuts on the motor mounting bolts to keep motor
intact. Remove nuts when reinstalling Motor to pump.
5. To disassemble VALVE BLOCKS (33 & 59) from BASE PLATE
(23), remove Allen Head Screws (53, 54 & 71).
6. To disassemble BASE PLATE (23) from BASE TANK (14)
remove six Allen Head Screws with lockwashers (18 & 19).
SUBASSEMBLIES - INSPECTION
1. BASE TANK (14) & BASE PLATE (23)
a) Check Base Tank (14) casting for cracks and damage.
b) Check Base Plate (23) for cracks and damage. Inspect
Sleeve (24) for wear.
2. MOTOR - Two Terminal (5)
Note: Complete Motor Assemblies are only available from
Meyer Products. The only service part available is the
Brush Kit 15854.
3. PUMP (7)
DO NOT at any time disassemble this Pump.
This will void the warranty.
a) Inspect Motor Key. (6)
b) Clean Pump Filter Assy. (10)
f)
Test all Coils for electrical continuity. Nominal Coil
resistance is 8.3 ohms.
g) Remove Pilot Check Valves (43) and Piston Assemblies
(50) from both Valve Blocks (33 & 59) and inspect the
Piston for scratches. Replace O-rings from Universal Valve
Block Seal Kit No. 15049 or Super Vee Valve Block Seal
Kit No. 15048 or Master Seal Kit No. 15051.
h) Remove Relief Valve Parts (62 thru 70) and inspect for
damage. Replace O-rings from Super Vee Valve Block
Seal Kit No. 15048 or Master Seal Kit No. 15051.
i)
With parts removed from Valve Block, clean and blow out
with air to remove any foreign particles in Block.
6. UNIT REASSEMBLY
a) Before reassembling, make certain all components and
sub-assemblies are clean and free from all dirt and other
foreign material.
Lubricate all orings with M-1 oil during assembly.
Coat all bolt threads with a anti-sieze lubricant prior to
reassembly.
b) Motor mounting bolts must be sealed with Permatex or
an all weather type sealant.
c) USE NEW SEALS AND M-1 FLUID WHEN
REASSEMBLING THE UNIT.
d) Proper fluid level is just below the neck of the filler hole. It
must be checked with Lift Ram fully retracted.
IMPORTANT: All Hydraulic Rams should be stored with a light
coat of grease on chrome ram in the off season to prevent rust.
